Flyer as a draw pad for PC - HTC Flyer, EVO View 4G

Is it possible to make the flyer/view work as a draw pad for a computer? Just like a wacoom bamboo or what it's called... Would be awesome!
Best app ever!
If it exist, please link!

I would be interested as well, but for a slightly different purpose: I wanted to use Skype and be able to use my tablet as a whiteboard. The closest I got was to use [email protected] which allows you to stream your screen through USB. The only problem is that the sync speed is quite slow, at 10 fps.
The problem seems different than what you're asking, but keep in mind that the FPS limitation is due to Android's screenshot function, which takes 0.9 seconds for a screenshot.

I did some googling a week or two back and have been meaning to try android screencast - can anyone recommend it ?
Link to guide on androis screencast.
Would be v.useful to be able to have PC linked to projector in a meeting showing drawing from Flyer, the pen makes quick sketches very easy.

Well I'm not talking about a vid function, more like real time drawing on like Photoshop etc... To use this as a mouse...
I've tried what u are asking for.. but on my cellphone... Its quite handy if you wanna do a tutorial etc... But it's not as crisp as you want it, and not the smoothest... But workable!
But, again, I'm interested in a draw pad...

just found this nice app for pc and android and have just installed and tested. gets a bit getting used to but it certainly works:
https://code.google.com/p/remotedroid/
i know you guys have posted last year and have probably found something else but thought i would share
thanks

Any movement on this?
wondering if anyone did find a graphics-tablet style app for use with the flyer? remotedroid isn't as good as splashtop, for what it does, but still not a photoshop tablet - any takers?
Thanks

Will hit that up for GiMP rather than PS then - was ideally looking for Win/OSX solutions, though I have no objection at all to a little Ubuntu lovin'
I know it's an old thread, but just recently started messing about with the Flyer since my note went on the blink so it could stand in as a phone till I get the aerial sorted, so catching up on what else the wee tab's capable of

Did you not watch until the end where he was scrolling up and down that list just as smooth as on the iPhone, still in development but it looks so cool.
holy ****. Did anyone else notice HOW FAST all the apps opened up when he pressed them? It takes at least 1-2 seconds more on my device 8525!!! Can anyone here figure out how he is able to make it open sooooo fast?
(1) he is using a Eten phone rather than a HTC?
(2) he probably had it minimized as oppose to closed, that you might have done?
perhaps he did not use HTC X button, or something like that to really close application, not only minimize them. but you right, it is really fast. maybe he overclock his device. In my old FS Loox n500 I can overclock my CPU to 550MHz and it was fast too.

The apple's shadow..
If you read his blog will understand.
But he said that may release the stuff in the future (maybe when iphone will be in stores).
Now whe can wait or develop for ourself or.. avoid apple?
Let's get to Working Delvlopers...i talked to him he won't release it for legal issues. Which sux but i know we can develop it!!
I defenately like this.
A Damn good job.
Eten uses the similar processor as ours...
Samsung SC32442A 400MHz processor vs
Samsung S3C 2440 400 MHz Processor
well he's a bit dim then for making a big deal of it before he released it. if he released it first then apple would doubtfully have a leg to stand on to do anything about it.
its not using any of their code, its not making money. what makes it any different than Skins for windows etc.
This guy's good. Only a few weeks since the announcement of the iphone and he's already got a working slidelock & iphone-esque scrolling.
He's got to release. Be it via bittorrent, sendspace-etc where apple can't really touch him. He's not using their code, as gibbon said above, so all he has to do is lose the iphone graphics and apple can't really touch him.

Looking for Fellow Developers for Xoom Tablet Notetaking App (FlatNote)

I'm looking for some experienced Android developers to assist me with a tablet note-taking app. I'm open-sourcing it under the Apache license, but probably will monetize it on the market.
The general idea is to be able to capture a lecture or meeting's audio, and put in text, graphic, and handwritten annotations. Then, when you are replaying the meeting or lecture, you visibly see a waveform of the audio with notes, images, etc. below, describing what is going on and providing more detail.
Notes will be grouped into sections. The app will be designed for API level 11 or higher.
Let me know if you're interested.
Fantastic! This is JUST the kind of app I'll be looking to use. Let me know and I'll gladly beta test for you and be a first day buyer. Good luck!
If you build just the handwriting portion and create a penultimate-like android version, I will buy
I've been working on a notes application since my partner got his xoom last weekend, better beat me to it

Sounds like a good idea for meetings too. Could you insert bookmarks for notes for the audio? So if you're browsing the notes you can jump to that section of audio?

This would be a must have for any college xoom owner, +1 for buying the app
I'm having trouble seeing how this would be useful without an active digitizer and pen..
don't get me wrong, this could still be a very cool app and I hope you get it working
but I don't think I'll be straying from my windows tablet with onenote any time soon
if you got this working on the htc flyer on the other hand, we might have something I could use as my only note taking device for university.
I probably wouldn't buy the flyer anyway though. The xoom is just so much nicer
Edit: Before someone starts saying how I could just get a capacitive pen, you have no idea what you're missing until you've tried a wacom or n-trig pen(especially wacom). It's like night and day.

My roommate has a wacom... I know i can't compete with quality of handwriting on most hardware, but I can make the software easier to use. The easier the software, the better the notes will tend to be, plus I really want the audio to provide a lot of power, with the handwritten, typed, and other inserted notes only supplementing the audio and making it searchable/disoverable.
well.. I look forward to seeing what you come up with =]

i have a capacitive stylus for my ipad and it works beautifully for taking handwritten notes. Penultimate & note taker HD are the best ones imo
I'll buy the first app that rivals Penultimate.
I just looked up penultimate on youtube
it's definitely not bad
but it still doesn't rival onenote
not by a long shot
and I was surprised at well capacitive pens were working for people
but again, it still doesn't really come close to an active digitizer
now, I'm sure this app will still be great
and I could definitely see people using it to quickly describe something to someone or maybe for a few quick notes at a meeting
but there's no way it's going to be able to be used for taking notes at university
I'll stick with my fujitsu tablet
but like I said, I do look forward to seeing what this app will be able to do
it will definitely have it's uses
I've been thinking about making a note taking app myself it would be good to collaborate!

Linux USB tethering?
Ok, this is my first post, but I have been lurking for a while (eris, now TB).
Has anyone been able to get the HTC built-in "internet connection mode" tethering to work on Linux? Using Ubuntu 10.04, Network Manager recognizes the phone as a modem, but can't connect to anything. Nothing in the browser, can't even ping by IP. I know there is a driver/HTC sync software it uses on windows - is there any way to make this work in Linux? Perhaps using ndiswrapper?
I've googled my fingers off and can't find anything related.

[Q] Custom ROMs

Because I've heard different answers to this question elsewhere, I wanted to post it here.
Will there be an opportunity for us to flash ROMS from Clockworkmods, etc. on the NT in the near future or not?
Thanks!
Tommy
Possibly, no ETA. No one knows at this point when but it is technically possible but it will take a lot of work from the devs to get around the bootloader.

No idea when this would happen. The locked bootloader is big problem.
New here so excuse me if wrong: but I thought the Nook Color was unlocked, why would B&N do that? Wouldn't that kill their sales of the unit? Does anyone think there will be a leak to unlock the Tablet?

I was hoping that the devs would find a solution but this seems to be the way to go.
Pretty much all the great devs have or are planning to get Kindle Fires.
The forum over there is "on fire" (pardon the pun)
As someone that loved the Nook Color that is very disappointing.
Yeah, I was on the fence between the two, but the locked bootloader, and kinda goofy looking form factor of the nook tab made the decision for me, and yeah, the kindle forums are busy. I am very happy with my choice.
Sent from my Nexus S 4G using XDA App
Cm7 for the kindle has no sound at the moment, so yes, you can get a kindle and enjoy a buggy customization experience. You can already do a lot with rooting and side loading apps; you'll do this with a better screen and hardware specs on the NT.
That being said, the bootloader is a major clockblock for development of custom ROMs. While we can still root and sneak in apps here and there, we are as-of-yet powerless to remove Barns&Nobles pared down version of the android experience. This is a real tough nut to crack, as we're forced to either bypass or crack it, both of which are not fun to do. Remember, hackers are a minute portion of buyers, and B&N is subsidizing the cost of the tablet with their ecosystem.
The KF, on the other hand does not have the locked bootloader, which means its more likely that meaningful development will continue for it.
Duely blundered from my thunderdolt
I'm pretty sure that I read somewhere that somebody has already managed to bypass the locked bootloader? Is this correct? What will this mean?
I really don't get why anyone would get a kindle fire JUST because you can modify it more (right now). What's the point if it has no SD slot and choppy video playback?

Sounds like there is some hope. I have been long time user of the "other" tablet and ordered a Noon Tablet, should have it Monday. I hear there is a way to do "sidelaoder" to gain access to the whole android market without having to root it. Anyone have a guide I can reference to do it to mine? I see many instructions but want to be sure I pick a "safe" one.
Other than the market, I don't think there is much more I'd like it to do. Does android have a app for Synology NAS? I also like using XBMC on iPad, anyone know if adroid has it or something similar/better?
Anything thing else you recommend I do to the NT without having to root it? My mail functions for the tablet will be entertainment, internet, videos, pictures and music.

It appears it's an APK that allows the phone to display a full desktop experience, pretty impressive stuff.
I've already signed up to find more information. Can't wait for it's release

Good evening everyone! Long time Lurker, first time poster here. First and foremost, I need to say thanks to all the developers and contributors that make this site everything that it is. Thank you!!!!
Now lets get some Ubuntu running! The files and instructions are found in an app on the market, "Ubuntu installer". The links provided in the app are all still good, validated tonight. I was running cleanrom 1.2 the first time I tried, and I can vouch that cleanrom is capable of booting Ubuntu via terminal. This part was surprisingly easy.
Next part is making this useful! Mhl on cleanrom 1.2 worked great. So here I am throwing Ubuntu to a 50" flatscreen with no convenient user interface. I tried installing gmote server on the virtual Ubuntu. Fail. Linux newb. I try andromouse (gmote alternative). The program is an executable .jar file, this I can handle. Andromouse launches, the android device I was using as the remote doesn't detect the server or tunnel in with the provided ip. Fail.
Here I load up joelz cm9 alpha. I lose mhl, but want to see how Ubuntu plays with 4.0. Ubuntu runs noticably faster! Also, for whatever reason, andromouse server was detected by my other android device. For a brief moment I basked in the glory of remote controlling a virtual desktop environment running on my phone. Then I wanted mhl support, flashed back to an old backup of cleanrom, and now nothing works. Unzipping the Ubuntu image again right now for a fresh start.
Potential uses? 1. Having a computer anywhere there is an HDMI in & second android device for mouse/keyboard. 2. Run a virtual Ubuntu server on your android to act as a host server for multiplayer gaming (is this possible?) 3. ????
I love Ubuntu! This would be awesome!

I got the http://www.amazon.com/Innocell-4000mAh-Extended-Life-Battery/dp/B005C3MTHC/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top/185-8507412-8298340
and i have to say the battery quality is amazing
after conditioning the battery with the usual ways and benchmarking it, i found i could run it at on demand for govenor or performance all day with a max speed of 1.5 ghz without a problem with about 50% left after 3 PM, granted i get up at 6 AM and then my phone goes to roaming for about 6-7 hours after that so battery drain is pretty high. Now if i do the above with the stock battery im looking at my phone being dead by 3PM
the expanded batteries are worth it even if ubuntu for android isnt out yet, they allow you to really make your phone a performance device
I couldn't find if they announced when they are releasing this.... Does any one know?

no. the email I got from them regarding the beta of it said they wanted to work with mobile operators and manufacturers first to get it out...
I dont know what pepsekola is talking about to be honest...as its not released to the public. I can only guess they are speaking of the already present workarounds other users have worked on in the past thus far.
there is the sign up page for info and such, but as you can tell by the heading even they are only interested in working with Handset maker or network operator's currently...
