Are the current CM7 nightlies updates to 7.1 since it is listed as stable and final? I was under the impression they were for 7.0.
No the nightlies led up to 7.1 which is a release candidate. Its the top of the cm heap now. Another other updates will be in the form of 7.2, 7.3 now.

Exactly what he ^^^^ said. It's been my daily driver for weeks.

They're not stable (otherwise they'd be in the "stable" branch instead of nightly), but they're not gonna brick your phone either.
Expect bugginess, but overall it's not too bad.
Installing CM7 with ROM Manager Premium is "so easy a caveman can do it"!
Its the reason I purchased premium.

Interesting.. I just tried that and during the install if failed at the point where it looks like it was trying to figure out what device I had. I guess it doesn't like my current ROM?

Careful there. With the exception of GPS not working, i'd say this is just as stable as bionix. What makes them not stable, is flashing every single nightly release. If you read about the different versions and aren't too flash happy then you'll be pleased.

Uninstalled and reinstalled Clockwork fixed it.
Note to noobs:
You don't need to buy rom manager premium to flash cm7 nightlies. Just download the rom and flash it. takes a whole 10 seconds longer but it's free and almost just as easy. The nightlies are posted here: http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=vibrantmtd
I have this site bookmarked on my vibrant and simply download it right onto the phone. Once it's done you have to move the file from the download folder to the root of the sd card then reboot into recovery and flash away.

Which is why the nightlies as a whole aren't reliable. If you want a "stable" device, that probably means that you don't want to be checking the CM7 nightly thread each day for a stable release. It's not exactly intuitive that nightly 13 is *less* reliable than the earlier nightly 8, for example.
Again, if the nightlies were "stable", there would be a stable branch for the Vibrant. They are pretty much good enough for daily use, but there are certainly dragons.

Sorry, you're wrong. It's still funny.
It's clearly said on most threads, they are beta builds.

I used to think that the Nightly builds were done by a person or only because the beta builds were released at night, Might be a truth to it o.o

I think because of the time builds take you're still right to think that. Many do the builds during their "night" thus the word nightly.

So Nightly usually better than others right?

This is how I see it: :silly:
A "nightly" becomes a "stable" version in the long run
Stable = better than others
Nightly = patch version of the previous nightly release (in most cases).
Most nightlly versions are tested daily and most users report bugs from the nightly version right away. If time permits then the developer patches the previous nightly, compiles it and release a new nightly. HaHa!

Which cm version is better in terms of battery? I m currently on Grif_07 cm7.1 and it is incrediblely smooth! If the battery of this is better then i m going to stay on this ROM until the release of official CM7

The other one
Go for 7.2 lastest nightly 12.4.21:thumbup:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=23540759
Or edited version by itasoulos v2 or w8 till he relase v3

The official CM7 is already out It's a nightly build but it works fine. I wouldnt say that the battery is exeptional but that's probably because I abuse all the functions and features (which uses ram).
Any bugs on nighty? I prefer to wait for the Stable one, if this nightly is okay now, then Stable version will be here very soon.
Also I m feeling that 7.1 is smoother than the vo-1 or FAT builds cm7.2, which both of them r battery monsters

many people report that CM 7.1 has better battery backup compared to CM 7.2.
but CM 7.2 is more smooth.

Yes and no.
Mostly post rc are stable but they might have new stuff added and removed, thus may have issues.
Oh so these issues will be solved isn't it.. I even sometimes get a signal drop.. very rare.. there hasn't been an update to the rc1 since 26-6-2012.. hope something comes up soon.. cyanogen are really awesome..

CM9 Nightly is pretty stable tbh, never experienced any signal drop and it only randomly rebooted once, might have been my fault too.
I think you should give it a try.

No we have regular updates after RC 1 last time I check it was at 5-7-12
But it shows for the galaxy s2 international version cyanogenmod 9 rc1 last update date is 26-6-2012.

You have to look under nightly, not RC.
Am using a rc1 nightly is too buggy
Sent from my GT-I9100 using xda app-developers app
placebo guy... RC = renamed nightly. As codeworkx said, there's NO difference between a RC and a stable nightly. You can't take out the RC tag, swap to NIGHTLY and say that the nightly is a unstable one. Months ago, the first stable nightlies were coming out.
Im using Codename android 2.0.0
When i rotate the screen while in browser, it force closes. It also does this when i try to select something while it is loading. I've tried installing multiple browsers and it happens to each one.
maybe its a kernel problem?(kernel version 2.6.32.58-MB855-CM9-g5bd1732)
ive been searching all day to a fix for this
This is an issue with every CM9 based rom. I've had some success with Firefox Beta. I keep multiple past versions on my SD card because each rom I flash seems to work differently with each browser. Jokersax did just release a version of his unofficial cm9 build that has a rotation fix if you'd like to try that:
http://www.jokersax.com/developer-pages/jokersax/cyanogenmod9-photon/
It's the one called special 0.7.0.0.

Eta for patch? When we get official ics from moto.
At this point cm9 is way past what the cna you are running is. It says beta but real close to a rc

Patch is either coming around October or not coming at all (official ics release)
I guess I could try CM9 later. Though I don't feel like re-installing all this stuff haha
Edit: also a link to the newest version of CM9 would be nice I guess?

You "should" be able to flash 0.7.0 right over your cna without wiping. Just look on jokersax.com in the cm9 for photon section
