I'm selling my LG Optimus One and I'm buying a second hand HTC Desire for the same price, I think I got a fair deal. My prime reason for doing this is because the sound quality on the Desire by far exceeds that of the O1.
I am wondering guys whether you have some tips to give me before switching phones. Please share your thoughts and opinions about this deal. I'm setting my phone clean right now.
Thank you very much for the support here, thanks to you guys, my experience with my O1 has been wonderful.

I know its more or less the same phone, but from where I am, the Nexus One is more expensive than the HTC Desire. I know the N1 has noise cancellation, but the sound quality though earphones on the Desire seems better.
i have the HTC Desire HD too and can say, its good for daily usage.
Only the display isnt soooo good because its not a amoled so some colors are some
strange, but heee - its a smartphone not a TV

Hey andy!
Im getting the Desire, not the Desire HD, that one's too expensive for me. :/
Concerning the phones mentioned previously, I had a look at the developer section for both here at XDA before opting for that, seems like there's quite some good stuff going on them.
You guys think I should sell my phone with stock ROM, or with CyanogenMod?

That's true, but I already agreed to the Desire. With the price difference between these two phones here, I can save myself quite some bucks buy myself a good pair of headphones.
I hope some cool developers will also port ICS to the Desire, or even the O1 in the future.
Hmm that's what I thought too, I'm setting up CM 6.5.8 right now.

I thought about that, but then I realised that the mini-bluetooth keyboard I'm selling along with my phone does not work on stock ROM, and the only ROM I know which has HID support is CM. That's why I kept CM.

I would recommend you to get other devices instead actually Firstly, the HTC Desire has the multitouch axis inversion problem too! And even though its much faster than our O1,its still quite 'old' now. But the roms for it are definitely alot! Overall,I would still suggest you to hey newer phones with faster processers

Why N1, Nexus S is available and better,
or Sony Ericsson Xperia ARC ( release date: April )
Nexus one is an awsome device.. I own one
But it has the same touch screen capability as X10 ---- > Dual touch
Considering the timely updates you get with nexus one... I think it is best bet.
I would recommend Nexus S
Well i bought a nexus one from google when they were available and it wasnt to long before i got rid of it for the X10 and havent regretted it yet.
Thats my thoughts.

how would you judge the two phones when it comes to the x10's 8megpix ??
xperia x10 with the all modifications.. same as Nexus S..
I wouldn't recommend nexus one because you are just exchanging for a pure Google experience product. Megapixel doesn't determine picture quality. Its all about the lens, sensor, and image processing software. Pix quality of course x10 is better than nexus one.
Go for nexus S or wait longer for dual core devices. X10 doesn't have Froyo and Nexus S's hardware doesn't perform as good as the hummingbird CPU in Nexus S.

How long have you have your X10? I wouldn't change it before "squeezing" all its potential.
My advise: keep it at least one more half of a year, and then start looking for your next phone. Now, if you can't wait and if you wish to keep in SE's line, Arc is your option, but for me, is not a great phone, I only remark the Bravia Displa, Gingerbread and the HDMI plug-in, anything else is not a big deal.
Or Nexus S.
hey guys... thanks a lottt...
ive been using the x1 only fr about a few months..

guys.. but dont you think the nexus one is worth it ?? its htc after all

Correct me if i am wrong, but i remember nexus one have an exact same proc with x10, which mean it's not actually an upgrade if you change your x10 into a nexus one. The only better thing is RAM. --in terms of hardware.
If I where you, I'd try and remember why you bought the X10 in the first place. I mean, the Nexus One was already available when you bought your X10, so obviously it has some qualities that made you choose it in the first place. I am guessing it was the look of the device, and the camera, right? Those are the X10's biggest distinguishing features, so I would like for another Android device that comes close to those.
As far as camera is concerned, there probably is no better Android available yet. Maybe the Samsung Galaxy S is the next best thing in this regard?
As far as looks is concerned, nothing really comes close yet, in my opinion. Although I really like the way the HTC Desire Z looks for some reason (and I don't normally like HTC designs, too boring).
But why are we even talking about these old phones? Next month it's time for the Mobile World Congress 2011, during with numerous new Android phones will be introduced and some will even be released by then, with brand new hardware like dual core processors and new versions of Android that will make our current phones look really outdated. Right now seems like a bad time to switch to another phone: I would wait for just a little while longer.

no need to get N1, its the same gen as X10
if u want the best current gen phone then get HTC Desire HD / HTC Desire Z
the dual core phones will take a bit of time (3+ months) to come to market...

Stay with the X10 until dual core phones come out.

If one is a color purist like me, then the AMOLED screens are a DISADVANTAGE, actually. And it's going to stay that way until a new-gen AMOLED arrives which doesn't mess with the saturations.

In order for me to purchase another device it has to be rooted with s off already accomplished. I love the mt4g way to much right now.
Nah, even if it was rooted. Even though the specs are a little bit better than the Sensation I'd still rather get the Sensation because all of the good devs already jumped to the Sensation.
I'd be surprised if a lot of devs went to the Amaze. Probably going to be a similar situation with the SGS4G when all of the devs were already on the Vibrant, no point in getting the SGS4G.
Good phone though, just wish that's what HTC did with the Sensation. The 1GB of RAM and better camera is nice.
Nope. The specs are all that. I'd need more to make me jump to a new phone.
ill prolly pick it up, but not when it first comes out. i love my phone but id like to have something with a little bigger screen and soft keys

Steve still works with CM, it's just a separate project now, it may have less work from cyan himself. However you can't forget that CM has a large amount of devs, Cyan has help from others so I doubt they would actually allow CM brand to die off like this.
Well perhaps working at Sammy will give Steve a chance to make sure ICS reaches other their other phones quickly
Considering that CM just announced it would support 10 new Sony Ericsson devices, I take that as a sign that we won't see CM winding down anytime soon.

Since Steve works with Sammy now I'm thinking that he could be learning new or different tweaks, Sammy should have some sort of ICS access (Sammy should have it by now) depending on his job position; so maybe he can work on CM8 slightly earlier. Personally I'm not to thrilled about ICS, after seeing that NexusS w/ "ICS"....It looked nothing like I thought, I figured Google would step it up to fend off iOS5/WP7.5(Mango). But it doesn't seem like much of a UI overhaul, but I'm sure the usability/features have been significantly changed.
I've been sitting on an upgrade since last month so I'm going to use in on the Amaze, even though I was planning to use it on the Sensation.
Hey everyone, I currently have an AT&T iPhone 4S that I got a couple months ago, around April. Previously I had the HTC Inspire 4G, and while I loved Android, the phone had a tiny battery and got no signal so I switched back to iOS. I was very involved in rooting and custom ROM's and everything, so that's not an issue. My mom has an upgrade available, and she wants to have my iPhone 4S (she has the 4, and doesnt want the 5). She's allowed me to use her upgrade to get a new phone, as I'm going to give her mine. I want to jump back onto Android because I love Jelly Bean and the new MIUI and CM10 ROMs. I'm kindof in a bind now, because since i just spent 300$ on my iPhone a couple months ago, my parents don't want me spending another 200$ for the Galaxy S3. The One X is only 99$ right now, but I like AOSP a lot better, Sense is alright, but not as nice as vanilla Android. I understand that I could just flash CM10, but I'm not sure if I should wait for the new Nexus which is apparently coming out in December. I also want a phone with a removable battery, so that's an issue with the One X, as it only has a 1800 mah battery. Should I wait until the new Nexus comes out, and will the S3 drop down in price? Or should I just pick up the one X? Thank you very much.
First of all, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1846277
And second, if you really like rooting and modding and whatnot, the AT &T One X (One XL)is unrootable from its latest updates. And since you would be buying it new, it should be on one of its last few updates. So avoid that for now.
However the Gnexus is getting stale, so youre best bet is to wait

HTC does a really bad job with sources, some of us already know that.
Some things you might want to know
1- the One X+ Can not flash a custom rom with its boot loader locked, unless of course there an S OFF method, but that's a low possibility. In other words HTC in some cases takes its time to release a boot loader unlock method. Usually they do a good job with this. What they suck at is giving Kernel sources. We won't see a custom kernel until December if the device was released in October
2- Its hard to do ports based of sense, so development could go for the worst with very little to no source and playing around with sense is not really a walk in the park
The one x+ looks like a good device. Hopefully T Mobile picks it up over here in the US soon.
Just giving a heads up.
As previous One X great Devs found a way to move on development, sure X+ will have a lot of dev!
It's not a big improvement against the One X (international) though, but after the new Nexus will be a LG, I will maybe even buy this device as my next phone and will do some stuff for it..

So you're saying for someone like me who buys phones to slap CyanogenMod on, I should expect poor results with the One X+? I will avoid then.
However, does sharing Tegra 3 with the Nexus 7 benefit the One series any? Did the One X get helped by the Nexus 7? I see this kinda like the SGS1 phones getting benefit from the Nexus S sharing SoC. The SGS2 is totally screwed as you know as it still lacks hwcomposer and stuff for CM10.
Yes I could get a Nexus, but sometimes I happen to like the design of non nexus phones more. The One X/X+ are truly sexy phones to me, and as long as they're decent to develop for I'd jump in.

Yes I could get a Nexus, but sometimes I happen to like the design of non nexus phones more. The One X/X+ are truly sexy phones to me, and as long as they're decent to develop for I'd jump in.

This could be possible but we are never sure, either way getting something like CM booting is only half the work, the real test is getting wifi, Bluetooth, GPS etc working without HTC releasing anything. The only way to get them working is work arounds. If you are a flashaholic that likes roms that are not based off stock then stay away.
If you like Sense then by all means get it
Yes totally screwed. Sammy can kiss my ***

As someone who has an HTC flyer I must say, It saddens my to hear that HTC hardware isn't an option.
HTC has some aesthetically pleasing hardware and sense itself can be pretty nice. The tablet just feels great in your hands, and has a nice screen..
It absolutely sucks that HTC lets themselves get held back by poor sources.. I'm "ok" with my tablet not having the most up to date version constantly.. I didn't sign a contract for it.. but, I really don't want a phone that I'm locked into having for 2 years to be left out for no real good reason.
Still, I'd kill to see a smooth running JB rom that is factory quality on my flyer.
Thanks for the warning.
I have a Sensation and if it wasn't for CM this thing would have been in the garbage. I'm hoping to pick up one of these and I'm sure development work for it will eventually come around. It needs some time.

So i just sold my SGS3 for 400 bucks and wanted to give the Optimus G a shot havent decided if I'm staying or not but am wondering the top of our page says it's rocking 4.1.1 yet my phone is on 4.0.4 and even after some menial update yesterday it's stil there. Do we have 4.1.1 or are we getting it soon?
No and maybe. Thread reported for move. There's a whole section for questions, and general isn't it.

well sorry, didnt mean to ruffle your feathers. Well this could be a reason not to keep this phone if there isnt anything definitive
I've been using the optimus G for 3 days now and I absolutely love it. I've had a gs3, note 2, and a one x. The optimus g is my favorite of the bunch. I think the screen on here is the best out there. The camera however I think blows but hey there is no such thing as a perfect device.
The lack of jelly bean really is upsetting tho, not enough for me to switch phones. The international version is supposed to get the update this month. I'm hoping we see some custom jelly bean roms after it is released cuz everyone knows att won't have it out till next year hopefully before the 2 nd quarter.

Lol, no feathers ruffled man. It's just that I like my device forum to stay nice and tidy, as do a great many others
ALL GOOD
well I just used one of my upgrades im gonna rock it for a week and see how I feel if I dont fall in love with it im gonna return it and get my upgrade back. I will give this a fair shot as the keyboard and screen are awesome. I think its the UI I hate
Give it a few days! You'll love it (the ui). And I think you're one of the few that hates the camera. There's a picture thread in General full of great pictures taken with this phone.
No, the OG camera is definitely sub par when compared to the best ones out there.
I loved the camera on the One X. The pictures from this one are noticeably worse. Usable, but not great.

Agree with this. I don't have much experience with Android phones, but I've handled the vanilla ASOP-type ROMs on my tablets. This UI skin is very unobtrusive, and doesn't bog down the phone. On top of that, you have basically the nicest specs on the market right now, in the sleekest package. This phone is a sleeper. The ROMs will come. Unfortunately, the masses may not realize what they're passing up, which means fewer ROMs. Really, though, all we need are a few good Devs. I recommend waiting to see what springs up once JB is officially released on the LGOG.
Yes, the camera is not the best, but it's not bad. For most of us, who really cares? If you're a pro photographer you shouldn't be paying attention to your cell phone's camera anyway. It's more than adequate to post crap to Instagram or whatever.

I've taken and seen some really great pictures taken with this camera lol. Since when is everyone a critic about a cellphone's camera? The pictures go to facebook/instagram or to someone else via mms. It's not like they're for a modeling agency or an art institute lol. People need to chill.
Thanks Digil!
I dont mind the camera that mich the UI is just a bit cartoonish for my tastes

Well, it is said to come out, we just don't know when.
*fingers crossed*
I really like the Optimus UI (only really liked AOSP before this), but am trying to decide between Apex Launcher and Atom Launcher...

I prefer nova prime but, that's because I hate the LG implementation of the app drawer. I like most of the LG defaults.
