[Q] Unroot 2.3.5 Firmware? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Is there wany way to unroot Android 2.3.5 on the Sgs2? I followed this guide:
(Google "samsung galaxy s2 android version 2.3.5 root", Top link).
The only reason why I rooted it was to calibrate the battery, now that that's done I want to unroot. I restored the stock kernel that came with 2.3.5 but still no luck, CWM and Superuser still stay there, with no way to removed them. Thans.

you need to flash the astock firmware to remove root not only the kernal.
there is another way to get rid of the root, use SuperOneClick v 1.91, and click on unroot to remove the root.

[Q] Orange 4.1.31 SBF

Does anyone have the SBF for Oranges 4.1.31 retail ROM i need to unroot my Atrix to return it unfortunately.
Cheers
If it hasn't been leaked (which I don't think it has), you are SOL as far as reflashing it.
Are you just rooted or did you flash another sbf on there? If you are just rooted, you can unroot and they will never know you were rooted in regards to warranty.
I thought you had to reflash the rom to get rid of root tbh. How do you unroot without? I originally rooted with gingerbreak.
run gingerbreak and click the unroot button, if its not there you must have used an older version, i dont know if you can get away with uninstalling your version, installing the new version and then clicking unroot, cant see why not seeing as i imagine they used the same exploit.
Thanks, the auto-install GingerBreak script that is linked in the read-me is the old version and hence lacks the unroot option.
ahh thats pretty annoying, you could try uninstalling the version of gingerbreak that is on there, installing 1.20 and use that to unroot, then uninstall it. I guess once your unrooted a factory reset should bring you back to pretty much how it was when you got it

[Q] New android user, I have a few questions

Hello everyone!
I have a rooted galaxy s2 (I see the superuser app on my phone) running android 2.3.4. This is a Bell phone. What I would like to do is unroot the phone, then update it to 2.3.6 or wtv update is available through kies (normal update) and then root it again and unlock it using Galaxy_S unlock so I can use it with Fido.
I have a few questions:
Is it even possible to do this?
Can anyone tell me if this is a good method? how to do it properly? or any better alternative methods?
also, if I use this unlock, is it permanent? or do I have to re-unlock the phone every time I loose root/update firmware
ANY help is appreciated, i'm trying to put all of this together and it's not very easy. I bought the phone rooted...but it's not unlocked (as it doesn't work with fido), needeless to say I have no clue how it was rooted and what was used (or if it even matters).
EXTRA infro: (when I press *#1234#, I get:
PDA: I9100XXKG6
Phone:...XXKG2
CSC:...OXAKG
Tell me 2 things, why do you need 2.3.6 and do you have an app called CWM on your phone? The icon looks like a gear
1. first unlock your phone, it is permanent you do not need to unlock if you flash again.
2. you may not be able to use kies to update as the kernal which kies uses to update was changed when it was rooted.
Do you perfer stock or custom firmware ?
you can get the latest stock firmware and installation guide from this thread.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
if you want custom search in Android development forum.
3. you will lose your rooting when you update firmware. All you need to do is reroot your phone it is easy. follow instructions in this thread.

[Q] How to root on 2.3.6?

I got a Atrix already updated to 2.3.6 when I got it. This is confusing me on how I should go about obtaining root. Most guides I'm seeing are for 2.3.4 at worst case?
What should I do?
sys version: 4.5.141.MB860.ATT
N_01 baseband
Thanks!
Try the same method you used for Rooting 2.3.4. It should still work. You may want to download the Voodo Root Keep application. It makes a backup copy of your root before you upgrade, so you can restore afterwards.
Did the last suggestion work for you?

Are you sure it will disable the root ?
Then, why there are a lot of guides and scripts to unroot the phone?
Now i'm confused
haha, Honestly im not 100% sure. I dont have this phone yet, although my brother does, but it's not rooted.
Just Fastboot 2.3.6 Update.
Easiest way to unroot that i know of.
Download supersu from the play store.
Run it
Select unroot on the settings tab.
It's that easy.
Download voodoo OTA rootkeeper. Temp unroot --> OTA to ICS --> re-root (or stay unrooted if you want)

You would like to get stock firmware, but you are allready on stock... So what do you really want to do?
But if you're asking for future sake, if you are rooted. You just need to use triangle away, flash stock rom and factory reset.
No need to remove root from SuperUser.
Sorry to clear it up what it is. I took my phone in for a repair today but all they did was flashed it leaving the count at 1. I want it back to 0 so i need to root.
