I am having an issue with the rom manager update that happened today. When I try to backup my rom, it rebooted into recovery mode but it errors out and will not let me backup my rom. Could anyone suggest a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance.

as stated a couple hundred times around this forum section:
dont use rom manager
I'm not sure how far this warning extends as I'm new to android with this phone, but if you see the sticky at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288112
Big red letters say not to use ROM Manager.
That said, if you open ROM manager, choose "Backup ROM". It will reboot and give you the screen with the green droid and triangle exclamation point. At that screen, press power button and it gives you the CWM Recovery menu. Use volume buttons to select "backup and restore", then home button to choose it. Then home again to pick "backup" on the next screen.
Once done you can go back to the main screen and choose to reboot from there.
Edit: Looks like PirateGhost beat me to it.

It was working fine for backup process, I am not using for rom downloads and updates. And I don't care how many times it has been stated to not use it, it was working fine for backups, and all I was asking for was if anyone can help, and clearly you can't.

re: rom manager
Here is a app which can replace Rom Manager until they update it to be
completely compatible with our new phones.
Download link: http://www.wuala.com/jgmoreno75/Sams....5.apk?lang=en
It does basically all functions of rom manager and many more which rom
manager cannot do. About the only thing I cannot do is to download roms.
Check it out...
Also PLEASE if you are a NOOB reading this please don't post anything pertaining to Rom Manager.
It's just a waste of time since it's not needed at all for doing anything that we do here and there is
NOTHING in Rom Manager which is a requirement for flashing, backing up, restoring, installing or
anything else having to do or pertaining to our Samsung i777 phones..
So let's all just forget that rom manager even exists for now

Do not install on Bell Atrix for now..
I put together a theme just for kicks. This was ported from the HTC Thunderbolt framework.
Just to clarify, this is NOT the HTC Sense launcher with HTC's widgets and all of HTC's quietly brilliantness. This is just a theme to make your Atrix look like it has Sense on it. The notification bar and buttons have been ported from Sense, nothing else.
Install with CWM. File attached on the bottom.

Did you get 1% increments for battery in the task bar?

Again, is it possible to uninstall? I've asked this questions many times in every theme thread but no one seems to respond? Uninstall steps should be helpful.

When i want to uninstall a theme i flash de-odexed 1.5.7 version via CWM recovery. it works fine, I may have to change few settings thou. Not sure if it is an option for you but that is just how I do it...
Sekhar
To me, if you're going to theme or try one of these themes, ROMS(themes)...
1. Install Titanium Backup, back up your apps & system(I do separate backups so I can just restore one or the other)
2. Install CWM so you can nandroid and if you screw up, just restore to your backup before you themed/ROM.
I did a nandroid before I tried Gladiatrix... installed ROM(notheme, I might try the theme one next).. messed with it.. now I want to try Gingerblur... boot to recovery, restore my backup... bamm.. back to normal..
Boot back to recovery.. install Gingerblur... liking it... and if I want to go back before I installed Gingerblur.. back to using CWM and restore...
1 rule of thumb.. backup your stuff before messing with it.....

Just tried this over GladiAtrix V4 and works fine. Flash de-odex 1.5.7, boot and you ll see plain stock theme. If you wish to install sense theme then go to recovery and flash. You should be able to see sense theme. I didnt lose any data/settings. I did backup just to be safe thou...
Reference: I was on gingerblur. Flashed sense 1.1. Restore from right before the sense flash. Works flawless.

Hello i am new to this website and i was wanting to know how to root my samsung galaxy showcase sch-i500 from c-spire wireless.I had my phone rooted before i upgraded to gingerbread the other day.I have found some directions on the website but i guess i am not doing them right.I downloaded the gingerbreak from chasefire and i scaned it with my phone but it is showing as wall papper on my applications any help would be appreciated and sorry for asking this question if it has already been asked thanks
Try this app
This is the easiest one I'd used to root my Fascinate I500, But remember to manually restart your phone by removing your battery and putting it back in. For some reason it's not doing that at the end of the process. Good luck.

Rooting i500
Did you ever get root enabled, I imagine you tried superoneclick and it failed. If you didn't get root I can help. It requires cwm and a root-package zip that you flash with cwm.
Problems rooting
I think it may have worked for the original poster but i am having BIG problems rooting my phone from cspire. The one click does not work and i have tried three other ways to do it. I am able to get recovery console access but past that nothing has happened. I followed the instructions at galay forums.net (wont let me post link but when i got to the part where i install the "su-x.x.x.x.zip" file i get the message "installed successfully. enjoy!" but when i reboot to try to go to the next step it always reboots into the recovery. Please help!

Yes I used the recovery flash (red clockwork mod) to flash the zip you uploaded for me. It says that it installs and that there are no problems but when I back out and reboot it will just boot back into clockwork rather than into the android os. The closest I've had it to booting right was using the su.x.x.x.x.zip file but when that was used my phone just boot looped (samsung logo boot up bid sanding logo for about two minutes reboot rinse and repeat)

Hello, I searched for my problem in both Google and these forums, with no success, but I apologize if I've missed something.
I was trying to experiment with nandroid backup to try to flash another ROM. First I used ROM Manager to update to the current version of CWM, then I rebooted into recovery, made a backup, then did a factory wipe. When the phone rebooted, the mobile data did not work. It will not work no matter what I try (factory reset, restore to previous backup, install latest cm nightly). I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance. Here's my phone info:

Unfortunately, changing the APN settings did not work. If I can't find something else online, I guess I'll flash the phone back to stock and start over with the rooting process. I do know enough to avoid galaxy2root....thanks for helping a newb who doesn't apparently retain instructions very well :fingers-crossed:
Have you tried to flash another modem? I'm not sure it would fix your issue but imo worth a shot.
I flashed the latest Siyah kernel and it seemed to do the trick. Internet's working again!

How many times have you gone through this: download a new ROM, backup all your apps with Titanium, reboot into recovery, perform a nandroid backup, wipe, install new ROM, boot and set up, then restore all your apps and data. Yeah, it's crazy. And it takes forever.
What if you could cut that time by a solid 20 or 30 minutes? Thanks to a new feature just incorporated in Titanium Backup, you can. With the newest update to TB Pro, you can now create a flashable zip of all your apps and data. That means that you can flash all your goodies right after a new ROM and fire up a system that's ready to go right out of the box.
You can try here
And for Pro here
uhh..... welcome to android?
EDIT: ahh... nvm... just realised that u pointed out the update.zip creation of backups well yea that is a nice feature
Who does not know for this app its not made for Android.

Hi everyone
I managed to root my android phone yesterday (I checked with 2 root-checker apps). Now I'm having trouble removing pre-installed apps like Twitter and Yellow Pages which I never use. I tried few uninstall apps, and after granting them permission from SuperUS, they perform an uninstall (some apps do it forcefully) and give a message that the apps were deleted. The apps are not removed from my application list but when I click on it to run, they give an error message. But when I restart my phone, those apps I deleted start working again as if nothing happened.
What I'm I doing wrong? My phone is HTC One M8, android.
Thank you for any help

I just tried it now but same problem. I select twitter to delete. It gives me a message that uninstall was successful. I check to see if it's listed on my home page, and it is although when I click on it, it gives an error message. However after restarting the phone, twitter somehow recovers and works again!!! Really strange. It's as if it wasn't uninstalled to begin with.

You need to remove read / write protection. You can do this most easily by flashing a modded kernel (boot.img) through fastboot. Alternatively, there's custom roms that have this already or you can mod a kernel module. There's a guide in the General section of your phone's forum. If you go that route, make sure that the module is compatible with the update you're on as the guide might be outdated.
