Mobile data not connecting - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S II SGH-I777

Hello, I searched for my problem in both Google and these forums, with no success, but I apologize if I've missed something.
I was trying to experiment with nandroid backup to try to flash another ROM. First I used ROM Manager to update to the current version of CWM, then I rebooted into recovery, made a backup, then did a factory wipe. When the phone rebooted, the mobile data did not work. It will not work no matter what I try (factory reset, restore to previous backup, install latest cm nightly). I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance. Here's my phone info:

1. NEVER use ROM Manger with an i777.... At this point I can't give any info on that I've never used it do some reading on that.... As far as apn setting check this thread... Any questions you have search this in google "XDA i777 (your questions)"
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1576199 apn setting
Edit: Not to confuse you CWM is safe just not flashing it with the ROM Manger app. The kernel will have CWM in it.... GL

Unfortunately, changing the APN settings did not work. If I can't find something else online, I guess I'll flash the phone back to stock and start over with the rooting process. I do know enough to avoid galaxy2root....thanks for helping a newb who doesn't apparently retain instructions very well :fingers-crossed:

Have you tried to flash another modem? I'm not sure it would fix your issue but imo worth a shot.

I flashed the latest Siyah kernel and it seemed to do the trick. Internet's working again!

Good job sorry I was gone for the day I was going to tell you to flash a new kernel... Glad you got it figured out!! :highfive:

Don't use rom manager. Reboot after installing cm or aokp to get data working.

[Q] please,how to unroot my GT-p7510?

I know how to root my device by odin, first recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5,then Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip.
So,my question is how to unroot my p7510 so that it act as a new one?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1171089
Thank you for your advice.
in fact,i had read that aritcle carefully:
“UNROOTING & RESTORING STOCK RECOVERY
1. Using CWM Flash the stock rom for your device. This unroots your device and basically makes it like a brand new tablet.
2. Use Odin to flash the stock recovery from the filesfordummies.zip.
3. Done, your device is exactly how it was when you picked it up. ”

but i still don't know what CWM is,and is it just an app?
and in the step 2,i don't know where to get filesfordummies.zip.
I want to unroot my tab also. I followed the instroctions and I downloaded a stock rom from Samfirmware.com. How I can flash it with Clockworkmod?

Can someone help me? How can I flash the stock rom with CWM?
i used the instructions in the post that is referenced to unroot. then i had numerous force close. sammy phone support suggested factory reset. i did that and it took me back to out of the box. it then did the minor update to UEKG4, but it won't recognize the TW update. They are wanting me to send it in, but I know it is something with software and I should be able to fix it.
No signs of SU, can't figure out why it won't recognize TW update. Thinking about going back to CWM Recovery to see if there are some advanced options that could help.
Hey ANthesca, I'm having the same problem. It looks like the custom stock rom we went back to is the I/O version, and that version never got the touchwiz update. This is my guess as to why we can't update to touchwiz, I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the official USA Stock rom for my tablet

Thanks so much Mass Zero, this just might be the thing that I needed! will try it and report back!
Hey Mass Zero, I downloaded both those files but the tab isn't able to install them via Clockword recovery, I get errors. Am I doing something wrong?
EDIT: oh wait, Am I to install the firmwares Via that "Odin3 v1.85" program?, Bah I'm not able to...

Rom manager update issue

I am having an issue with the rom manager update that happened today. When I try to backup my rom, it rebooted into recovery mode but it errors out and will not let me backup my rom. Could anyone suggest a fix for this issue? Thanks in advance.

as stated a couple hundred times around this forum section:
dont use rom manager
I'm not sure how far this warning extends as I'm new to android with this phone, but if you see the sticky at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1288112
Big red letters say not to use ROM Manager.
That said, if you open ROM manager, choose "Backup ROM". It will reboot and give you the screen with the green droid and triangle exclamation point. At that screen, press power button and it gives you the CWM Recovery menu. Use volume buttons to select "backup and restore", then home button to choose it. Then home again to pick "backup" on the next screen.
Once done you can go back to the main screen and choose to reboot from there.
Edit: Looks like PirateGhost beat me to it.

It was working fine for backup process, I am not using for rom downloads and updates. And I don't care how many times it has been stated to not use it, it was working fine for backups, and all I was asking for was if anyone can help, and clearly you can't.

problem solved!
i dont understand how hard it is to comprehend......if ROM manager is giving everyone problems, DONT USE IT. if it was working for you then it stopped, DONT USE IT
pretty cut and dry....
until there is proper implementation of ROM manager, DONT USE IT
re: rom manager
Here is a app which can replace Rom Manager until they update it to be
completely compatible with our new phones.
Download link: http://www.wuala.com/jgmoreno75/Sams....5.apk?lang=en
It does basically all functions of rom manager and many more which rom
manager cannot do. About the only thing I cannot do is to download roms.
Check it out...
Also PLEASE if you are a NOOB reading this please don't post anything pertaining to Rom Manager.
It's just a waste of time since it's not needed at all for doing anything that we do here and there is
NOTHING in Rom Manager which is a requirement for flashing, backing up, restoring, installing or
anything else having to do or pertaining to our Samsung i777 phones..
So let's all just forget that rom manager even exists for now

Possible Brick HELP!!

Thank you in advance.
I just got my SGS2 back from repair today (stuck pixel) and I wanted to installe CM9. I thought I'd start with the latest CWM - the link was broken so I flashed CWM 4.0.0.8, which flashed fine.
When the phone rebooted, it sat in a loop doing nothing. I then flashed CWM 4.0.1.4, which also did not help. I attempted to wipe cache using CWM. A heap of errors scrolled down the screen. I thought I'd restore back to factory kernel and rom, which I did. I am still in bootloop and I have the following text on screen when I go to stock recovery

dunno...most likely you flash wrong rom without reading first...or your zip file not finished download....
check you file..name, actual size before flashing
I hadn't even gotten as far as flashing a ROM, to obtain root, I attempted to use CWM, that is when things went wrong
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1457458 try this even i got strucked like that wen i tried to flash custom rom

That would work, but multiupload is busted
Wipe data/factory reset, clear cache.. The it will start a fresh.. Then re-root if needed.. Hope this helps
This post was most of the solution. After this, I could flash an old version of CMW that worked. Following that, I could flash cyanogen mod 9. Thanks to all

[Q] Lock sound and keyboard sound

Hy guys. I'm having a very strange problem with my phone. Yesterday I kept my phone on silent all day, and when I turned it back to ringing, my lock sound and keyboard sound were missing. They are enabled in settings. I am using CM9 nightly. I even did an update today, and the problem still persists.
I don't know if it is in anyway related, but one of my ringtones is missing (all of a sudden it wasn't there anymore). When I went to settings, the default ringtone was "Unknown", and so was the default notification. Pretty strange. If anybody knows about this, please help . Thank you in advance!
Press the volume button, then the settings icon. Check that none of the volumes are muted.

check for the same issue after wiping cache/dalvik and then fixpermissions in recovery and rebooting the phone
I wiped cache/dalvik, but I didn't fix permissions. I'll try that and come back with an answer. Thank you.
Edit: Fixing the permissions didn't solve the problem .
Why do you flash the ROM again? some time I get mission the same that but after do full wipe, everything OK.
I don't want to flash the rom, do a full wipe, and then start all over again with installing all the apps and all that. I'm still hoping there's a fix without having to do this. But if nothing else works, I guess I'll do that in the end.
Could this problem be rom related?
Yes, which nightly do you use right now?

14.09.2012. This is the one I flashed today, hoping that it would fix the problem. Before this, I was using 06.07.2012.
Not even the camera sound doesn't work anymore, nor the touch sounds if I enable them. It really starts to get annoying.

u can also flash a stock rom and see just to ensure that its not a hardware issue of any sort
ps- u should not give up ma8,instead look for all possibilities and ensure that it wrks,do remember " ur always the best engineer to ur phone"
I did a factory reset, and all worked fine after. But when I restored everything using nandroid backup, the problem reappeared. Now I'm restoring only data (not boot, system, and cache), see how this works out. Thank you very much for your help.
Edit: It didn't work

Won't it mess up anything if it's a different CSC?Also, considering CM10.1 is android 4.2, how would you go about restoring to stock since the sdcard pathways and some others are different?I think of going this way
Go to download mode, flash stock ROM, go to recovery, wipe user data and cache, and try to start the phone now.Is this good?
Format data sdcard system cache and preload ,then install stock rom .

If you flash a full stock Rom with Odin you'll downgrade to stock recovery.
I see.I forgot to mention, I also have a backup made by CWM from the stockrom, but it's in a different location now because it's been moved by installing 4.2.I have PhilZ touch recovery already installed on it.Is it also possible to restore from CWM(after wiping the beforementioned partitions, ofcourse)?
i'm just afraid to use download mode as I already have the faulty eMMC's and using DL mode triggers that.Or, getting stuck on NAND write start.
You can only flash stock roms via download mode, so its a risk you have to take. You can't use Philz or CWM to flash.
What ROM were you on when you first rooted?
I was on the stock 4.1.2 android and I still have a backup from it but like I said its now moved to the sdcard/0 path.I'm still on CM now and I have philz recovery atm.So is it possible to restore it like that?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
If you were on stock 4.1.2 before root, you have a safe bootloader so you can use odin.
Sure you cab restore nandroid backups from recovery. That's the whole point of them.
It depends WHY you want to restore though. It's rooted and won't restore recovery so it doesn't restore warranty status. Its pretty pointless. Infact its entirely pointless. like I said, depends what you want. There is only 1 way yo restore it 100% stock, as previously mentioned

I appreciate your effort in order to explain that to me, so thank you for that.I know that when it dies it's dead for good, and I don't think they will be able to detect the software that was on it, so I have just put ARHD on it, I know it since the old days on Desire HD(which i still own), it runs great, both on the DHD and on this now. Thanks for your troubles, but I'm sure to return to 100% stock whenever now that I know this info.Thank you all!
