Won't it mess up anything if it's a different CSC?Also, considering CM10.1 is android 4.2, how would you go about restoring to stock since the sdcard pathways and some others are different?I think of going this way
Go to download mode, flash stock ROM, go to recovery, wipe user data and cache, and try to start the phone now.Is this good?
Format data sdcard system cache and preload ,then install stock rom .

Thank you.Can you also link me to the stock recovery?I want it to go back the way it originally was. so I can send it in.

If you flash a full stock Rom with Odin you'll downgrade to stock recovery.
I see.I forgot to mention, I also have a backup made by CWM from the stockrom, but it's in a different location now because it's been moved by installing 4.2.I have PhilZ touch recovery already installed on it.Is it also possible to restore from CWM(after wiping the beforementioned partitions, ofcourse)?
i'm just afraid to use download mode as I already have the faulty eMMC's and using DL mode triggers that.Or, getting stuck on NAND write start.
You can only flash stock roms via download mode, so its a risk you have to take. You can't use Philz or CWM to flash.
What ROM were you on when you first rooted?
I was on the stock 4.1.2 android and I still have a backup from it but like I said its now moved to the sdcard/0 path.I'm still on CM now and I have philz recovery atm.So is it possible to restore it like that?
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk 2
If you were on stock 4.1.2 before root, you have a safe bootloader so you can use odin.
Sure you cab restore nandroid backups from recovery. That's the whole point of them.
It depends WHY you want to restore though. It's rooted and won't restore recovery so it doesn't restore warranty status. Its pretty pointless. Infact its entirely pointless. like I said, depends what you want. There is only 1 way yo restore it 100% stock, as previously mentioned

I appreciate your effort in order to explain that to me, so thank you for that.I know that when it dies it's dead for good, and I don't think they will be able to detect the software that was on it, so I have just put ARHD on it, I know it since the old days on Desire HD(which i still own), it runs great, both on the DHD and on this now. Thanks for your troubles, but I'm sure to return to 100% stock whenever now that I know this info.Thank you all!

I know how to root my device by odin, first recovery-cwm_4.0.0.4-sam-tab-10.1.tar.md5,then Samsung_Galaxy_Tab_10.1_root.zip.
So,my question is how to unroot my p7510 so that it act as a new one?

Thank you for your advice.
in fact,i had read that aritcle carefully:
“UNROOTING & RESTORING STOCK RECOVERY
1. Using CWM Flash the stock rom for your device. This unroots your device and basically makes it like a brand new tablet.
2. Use Odin to flash the stock recovery from the filesfordummies.zip.
3. Done, your device is exactly how it was when you picked it up. ”

but i still don't know what CWM is,and is it just an app?
and in the step 2,i don't know where to get filesfordummies.zip.
I want to unroot my tab also. I followed the instroctions and I downloaded a stock rom from Samfirmware.com. How I can flash it with Clockworkmod?

Can someone help me? How can I flash the stock rom with CWM?
i used the instructions in the post that is referenced to unroot. then i had numerous force close. sammy phone support suggested factory reset. i did that and it took me back to out of the box. it then did the minor update to UEKG4, but it won't recognize the TW update. They are wanting me to send it in, but I know it is something with software and I should be able to fix it.
No signs of SU, can't figure out why it won't recognize TW update. Thinking about going back to CWM Recovery to see if there are some advanced options that could help.
Hey ANthesca, I'm having the same problem. It looks like the custom stock rom we went back to is the I/O version, and that version never got the touchwiz update. This is my guess as to why we can't update to touchwiz, I'm pulling my hair out trying to find the official USA Stock rom for my tablet

Hey Mass Zero, I downloaded both those files but the tab isn't able to install them via Clockword recovery, I get errors. Am I doing something wrong?

I'm fairly new to xda and android and i would like to root my atrix and install cwm.
Can someone give me a link to the easiest way to root the atrix that works with 2.3.4?
And also, by using any of the rooting methods will I lose any data at all on my phone(like contacts, pictures, apps, etc.)?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1255548
rooting won't cause you to lose data, but unlocking the bootloader will put you in a stock state.
THANKS!
thank you so much for that link!
I just rooted it and it was super easy. I was kind of intimidated by the complicated steps that I saw over on another website.
Thanks again!
I just need help installing cwm now, and honestly, i have no idea where to start.
All help appreciated!

do you have AIM or MSN? i'll walk you through the steps to unlock your bootloader and install CWM.
I actually never understood what unlocking the bootloader did.
And as for CWM, is it supposed to look like this?

Sorry, another question
Just one more question.
Does applying a theme from CWM wipe your phone?
What about applying a rom? Would that wipe your phone?

you have to unlock your bootloader before you can get CWM on a motorola atrix, unfortunately. to do so, you'll need to flash pudding from the development section and run the fastboot oem unlock script in fastboot mode
after that, you can fastboot flash a recovery. you'll get into CWM by booting up into recovery mode, the same way you boot into fastboot mode or RSD mode.
installing a theme won't wipe your data, no. and for your other question, that isn't CWM recovery; it will look more like this: http://www.theandroidsoul.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/05/ClockworkMod-Recovery-31.png
Fruit cakes and CWM question
I have a similar question.
A helpful explanation from a dev/member http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1136261&page=48 explains how to unlock and root.
However, he says to add ROM Racer's CWM and 2 Fruitcakes/
What are Fruit Cakes? What do they do?
Yes, applying a rom wipes your phone, but you can back up all youre contacts a and data and apps with things like titanium backup and my backup pro. After flashing a rom you can restore your apps and data. hope this helps.

Fruitcakes allow you to get your phone back to "stock" via CWM, instead of having to flash an sbf. If you have an official update of GB on your phone, with an unlocked bootloader, you can brick your phone by trying to flash a pre-GB sbf. Read that thread and you'll get a much better understanding of why they are a very good thing.
Simply put, they are a safe way to get your phone back to out-of-box condition, but with an unlocked BL.
this is an excellent tutorial video on how to unlock your boot loader he even shows you how to re lock it, even though i haven't re locked it.

I have a Sprint SGS 3 rooted with build ALF9 model SPH-L710 in USA.
There is an update it wants me to install.
Will I lose root? If so, can I just go back to my clockwork recovery and restore it?
Or is it easy just to root it again the same way as before?
Thanks

Chances are you are going to lose root.
Can I just re-root it the old way (odin/clockwork I think), or will there be some protection
or need to find a newer root method?
Look here and read it good(to achieve update and root with new firmware and baseband)....:thumbup:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28612771
Also you can achieve the same goal( update and retain root)here too:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=28597495

then re-root or wait for a posted stock rom w/root
to flash from clockwork recovery?

you wont be able to install the update with clockwork as your recovery

I unrooted, tried OTA and says none (which there was),
re-rooted again with newest rom manager and clockwork,
still can't flash the update. Guess I don't really need it
(what does it even do, I don't use wallet or dropbox).
But it would be nice to be able to flash updates in the future
without wiping anything.

I don't want to flash the original nandroid, as I would lose 100's of apps, saves, settings
that I do not want to take HOURS to fix. Will this method keep all my settings, saves, widgets, etc?
If not, don't I just wait for a rooted updated sprint rom all baked and flash it over mine so I don't lose
a thing? Also the link in #2 doesn't work, what file was it, I might already have it.
P.S. Still don't know what oxeded is or deoxed
Hello, I searched for my problem in both Google and these forums, with no success, but I apologize if I've missed something.
I was trying to experiment with nandroid backup to try to flash another ROM. First I used ROM Manager to update to the current version of CWM, then I rebooted into recovery, made a backup, then did a factory wipe. When the phone rebooted, the mobile data did not work. It will not work no matter what I try (factory reset, restore to previous backup, install latest cm nightly). I'm hoping someone can help me. Thanks in advance. Here's my phone info:

Unfortunately, changing the APN settings did not work. If I can't find something else online, I guess I'll flash the phone back to stock and start over with the rooting process. I do know enough to avoid galaxy2root....thanks for helping a newb who doesn't apparently retain instructions very well :fingers-crossed:
Have you tried to flash another modem? I'm not sure it would fix your issue but imo worth a shot.
I flashed the latest Siyah kernel and it seemed to do the trick. Internet's working again!

Hello guys, any help would be appreciated.
My note 3 is rooted on the stock rom. I hadn't changed anything or installed anything new. I cut my phone on and I get that message. I'm unable to run any apps and the message shows up immediately after cutting the phone on. My status bar isn't visible either.
Do I have any options? Since the phones unusable, I can't factory reset. I've tried different batteries and taking out my memory card. The phone literally soft bricked itself overnight.

Running Odin, reflash the tar for the firmware you're running.
If you can get into a custom recovery, you can always push system ui back to system, priv-app via the file manager built into TWRP.
Such behavior is common, especially if running conflicting Xposed modules.

Thank you but what if I don't have TWRP? As for reflashing the tar, I'm not using anything custom. All I have is a full (non rooted) restore file and the file I used to root it with Odin. Would I need to flash one of those, and if I do, would I lose data?

If you flashed the stock tar, then yes, you'll lose data and root, but the items in your internal storage will be left intact (pictures, music, documents, etc).
Since you're rooted, if you are able to get into system, then you could download titanium backup to save your call logs, mms, sms, etc, then flash the stock tar again.
Short of that, you could flash recovery, which will trip Knox if the root method you used did not, or, flash the stock tar again and move on.
