In your opinion do I need to flash the radio.zip after cm7. If so wat does it do for my device? Do I get better service/ faster data speeds?
Thanks, tHe NoOb

I think the radio that you have currently should work well enough.
I had the 1.97.00 radio and found that cwm was giving me a 1 bar issue. Same thing with aosp. And input so I installed the 1.77.30 radio via cwm. Wish I had a cwm version of the 1.97.00 radio just to try while im at work. Seems the 1.77.30 radio switches from H to 3g less in my area than the. 97 radio.
ok, it seems as if my service is pretty good compared to what yours was before you flashed it. ill keep it for now. thanks for the replies
Please help Radio flash
I want to flash the radio to my unlocked and cwm installed atrix 4g. I used to have 2.3.4, 4.5.91 ATT stock software, but went to cyanogenmod 7.
What radio do I need to flash in cwm? There is a radio.zip file on briefmobiles website, I just want to make sure I am downloading the correct one.
I want to flash because it is taking a while to get a gps lock in CM7, where in the stock rom it would happen almost instantly.

Not 100% sure but gps lock on isnt slow because of radio but couz of CM7 i got stock radio and its also slower then on GB. also CM7 doesnt install radio if im not mistaken if u had GB radio u should still have it
what cm says
code.google.com/p/atrix-dev-team/wiki/FAQ CM7 is saying if you are having slow locks to reinstall the radio. I'm just wondering how I can accomplish this through cwm.

Hopefully this isn't too hard to solve. I have an HTC Evo, and offered to root my friends Thunderbolt. I rooted it fine, everything works flawlessly, and I even flashed a ROM without an issue.
Now, here is the thing I cannot figure out. Every ROM i have installed (BAMF, Synergy, etc) has no radio when it boots up. There are two processes that stop responding (A Sync process and a DM process). There is just simply no radio at all. I can connect to wifi, and I can browse the internet that way, but it refuses to show any connection to Verizon.
Any idea as to what is causing it? Again, I am usually on my Evo, so the Thunderbolt is a little bit different territory.
Keep in mind, all the ROM's flash and boot fine. Everything on the ROM works fine, with the exception of the radio.
Thanks for your help guys.
You have to install a new radio for the gingerbread Rom. In the dev section there is a Rom and kernel list. Find the mr2 radio there. Rename it to PG05img.zip, place on root of SD card, boot into hboot (phone off, hold vol down and power. It will flash the radio. Once it reboots delete or rename that radio file so it won't try and flash it again the next time you boot into hboot. And your done.

Do you see any notification of data on the phone? (1x, 3g, 4g)
Did you make sure to snap the back of the battery cover on tight as it has a connection for the antenna for the battery?
Are you trying to flash the MR1 radio on a ROM that requires either MR2 or MR2.5?
All of these could cause the issue you are having.
Have you tried to reflash one of the radios in hboot? Plus with not all the roms based on the new radios and some of them are this can cause you to lose data if the rom isn't compatable with the radio. Just make sure the roms you are installing are not based on the MR2 or MR2.5 radio while you have a MR1 radio and vice versa.
I hope this helps. If not you may want to just find the original rooted stock OTA ruu and reflash it in hboot. This will wipe all your data so if you have a way to back up apps and data like mybackup pro or titanium backup.
Here is the rom and radio listing thread
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1081930
Edit: Yeah almost forgot about the battery cover having the antenna on it like Beastclaw said
Ah. Downloaded the MR2 file, renamed it and flashed it and it worked perfectly.
Thanks so much, you all are the ****.
Going back to the Evo section now.
Again, thanks for all your help. *Waves*
I rooted my phone using this guide. I wanted CM7 on here, so I flashed the MR2.5 radio. My phone came with MR1. It flashed properly, but now I have no signal and it shows me as having no baseband.
What did I screw up? From my knowledge of radios from my DInc, I can't flash 2.5 again or it'll brick (can't flash the same radio twice in a row).
Would I be able to flash MR2, then MR2.5 again? Basically, wtf do I do, and why did this happen?
you flashed the wrong cm7...there are two versions...one for the mr1 radio and another for the mr2 radios
I didn't even flash CM7. I said I flashed the MR2.5 radio.
When this happened to me I made a backup of my ROM, flashed the file found here, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1082114, loaded my backup, and tried again with a different download of the MR2 radio. My theory on why the no baseband thing happened to me was a bad download... I've since started checking MD5 sums every time I flash anything through HBOOT which I should have been doing all along.
I'll try that. It shows me as no baseband, no phone number, no anything. Crap.
if you didn't flash a rom then its normal. You can't flash a 2.0+radio with an mr1 rom and have signal. Nothing is wrong just flash an mr2 rom.

Alright I'll try flashing CM7 then. I hope this works. This is a lot more involved than my Incredible, haha.
Edit: Yup, that's definitely it. I flashed my original MR1 ROM and radio and I'm fine.
Thanks guys!
If you have the MR1 rom, the MR2.5 radio will not work for it due to the new RIL.
And I have flashed radios twice in a row before and nothing has happened...but if you take my word for it it's on you
Yeah it was just something I heard when I was working with radios on my incredible. No clue how true it was, but it's not worth the risk.
I got everything sorted out, thanks guys!

Bricks like that don't happen on the thunderbolt if you flash the radio twice in a row, but I still wouldn't recommend it
hi my problem is that i cant get any data connection with any of the gingerbread roms....
i have tried different radios, including the ones that worked on 1.83 but i didnt help. i have tried different kernels didnt help. i have tried alien rom 1 and 2 and i have tried cherryblur 1.2 to 1.4d including kennethpenns rom ncrust and the other cherry rom.
what i did....
-flashed 1.26sbf(3g worked
-updated to 1.57(3g worked)
-updated to 1.83(3g worked)
-unlocked bootloader with pudding.sbf.
-installed cwm
-installed gingerblur 4.5(3g worked)
Wiped everything cache + factory even battery
-flashed Cherryblur 1.4d(example) everything worked except data(3g).
flashed faux kernels. (still no 3g)
flashed 4.591 radio from kennethpenns thread (no 3g)
flashed 1.83 radio(no 3g)
wiped everything again......
flashed fruit cake 1.83 (still no 3g)
flashed 4.591 radio from kennethpenns thread (3g working again on 1.83)
from here i tried starting from the top again and still no 3g.
so it seems that my 3g only works if i install 1.83 with 4.591 radio. any help would be apreciated.

Ok maybe is time for clean starp up, DEEP CLEAN, I did this script for a friend and it help:
Need Windows PC and UNLOCKED BOOTLOADER
1. Download and extract/unzip the following file in a new folder (example C:\atrix):
http://www.filesonic.com/file/15073...signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf.gz
2. You will end after extracted/unzip the file with something like this:
1FF-olympus-user-2.3.4-4.5.91-110625-release-keys-signed-ATT-US-GAS_NA_OLPSGBATTSPE_P011.sbf
3. Download the attached file "CLEAN_2.3.4_ATT.zip" and extract/unzip to the same location (example C:\atrix)
5. Run the script "clean" and follow exactly all the instrucctions!
6. This will install a Pristine Official ATT GB 2.3.4/4.5.91
Done!
Hope it help
By the way nice city Copenhagen specially the little, little mermaid I almost missed it!

i have tried to avoid installing the official gingerbread as i heard the things about the sbf downgrades that is bricking people. and by doing it the way i did i could still flash sbf without problems at least for me it worked.....

Yeap that script install the new bootloader ver. and you will NOT DOWNGRADE with previous MOTO sbf for example 1.26 1.57 1.83
So I think your way to make sure if it is software / hardware related will RSD a FULL 1.83 SBF and then apply your provider APN
Sent from my MB860 using XDA App
ah....
so if i install this i will get the updated bootloader and the official gingerbread ota?
and i will not be able to downgrade any more?
i will still be unlocked and such so that i can get alien rom back on there.........
correct me if i am wrong...........
89% done downloading your file.
if i install this would i still be able to use fruit cake to fix any problems and return to stock?
your script finished succesfully now to see if it works.........
hmm still no 3g connection after i ran you script and bootet then logging in to blur and adding my apn.........
any clues why?

I am in the USA on ATT.
I think the gingerbread radio is the cause of my Slacker radio problems. It didn't do it before. It seems that sometimes when there is a cell tower change Slacker stops and I lose the bluetooth connection to my Ford Sync. Seems to happen at the same places. I want to try another radio. (Pandora does it also; but not as often)
Questions:
1) which radio do you suggest I try (can I go back to Froyo one and if so where may I find it?)
2) I am unlocked/rooted and running a basically stock gingerbread. Do I need to find a flashable zip and use CWM or can I use RSD to flash the radio? (I definitely don't want to hard brick the phone and I keep seeing about not flashing back but I don't think this applies to radios)
Thanks!!
An option:
Personally, I would just deal with it because I wouldn't want to risk my toy...but...
there is an update, albeit, hacked radio that not only should be more reliable, but I've also found to get better reception, and use less battery.
The installation process is described here:
http://www.droidmatters.com/news/breaking-motorola-atrix-4g-gets-hsupa-not-from-att/
It should work for you since I tried it on my gingerbread and it worked, but my gingerbread was not OTA so I don't know what will happen for you.
TRY AT YOUR OWN RISK
Thanks!
The 1.87 was the radio I was looking for. I am a little bit nervous about using rsd to flash the radio (nervous like a bad girl in church but from what I have read it isn't a problem since I am not trying to flash a whole build. Later on when I get my courage up I will try it.
Thanks again,
Ron
update
Flashed the radio to my gingerbread ota (unlocked and rooted) using rsd lite 5.0 and no problems or hard bricking!!! I will try the radio out for awhile and perhaps it will fix my problem. I was on pins and needles while it was rebooting. If I need to go back to the current radio I have a zip that can be installed with cwm..
Thanks again,
Ron
Just installed CM7 from Rom Manager and I have no service. I tried turning on airplane mode and now its stuck in Airplane mode! Pulled battery and SIM, but still nothing.
Did you install the correct radio to correspond with the build of CM7 you installed?

Yes but it's flashed via bootloader.
See http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=15765065&postcount=8
That includes a link to the OTA mr2 thread also
I am having a similar issue
After doing a backup of the stock rom and installing CM7 I had service but very little compared to the stock rom & radio that got full service in the exact same location. I tried to install the radio for 4g and followed those instructions but then it said my sim wasnt installed. I wiped again including cach and reinstalled CM7. I had to use the above link to get the radio somewhat working again but the service still sucks.
is there another radio out there that will work better?
sometimes when i install a AOSP ROM it'll show no service to. although after rebooting, then it works.
I tried rebooting over and over, never came back untill i pushed the above radio in from hboot. It still shows nearly no service although it does have some. I had the same problem with my inspire 4g untill i found the right radio that worked perfect.
I went across town to the area I get the best service and it still only shows 2 bars max
