Kindle / Calibre fail. - TouchPad General

Ok, I was trying to sideload some .mobi books using calibre. I have done this manually before and it worked. After using Calibre now my app just opens to the blue kindle screen with the kid reading under the tree. I have checked to verify show all books is checked and still see nothing. Tried a Reboot also.

go into preware and i think under apps get Kindle Import

Thanks for the response, I was already using the import app from preware just forgot to mention that piece of the puzzle. I was able to get this going last night. I wiped everything from the .palmkindle folders and uninstalled kindle app then downloaded from the catalog to reinstall from scratch. I could then see the books that were synced. I then used calibre again and the kindle import preware app to import the books.

You could use Password Safe Lite/Full Version
The full version allows you to backup to SD card or export/import csv formats.
I have Password Safe and it's good. Recently, I saw that the Handy Safe is now on the Andriod Market. You will have to write in the data one by one, I did. Pain in the arse....but I could not think of any other way?
I waited for months for Spb to release Wallet for Android. There's a big thread on their forums (two actually) requesting it, but all they'll say is that they're working on bringing their products to Android.
So I gave up, and after looking into a few options decided on LastPass. They don't have an Spb Wallet import option (though you could always ask for one), but the product is great. All you data is stored (encrypted) on their cloud, they have extensions for all the major browsers (including Chrome), and have apps for all the mobile platforms of choice (including Android).
A premium account is $12/year and gives access to their mobile apps, but if you prefer you can stay with a free account and access your passwords through their mobile website.
export sbp wallet

the import from spb wallet does not work for me
Import from SPB Wallet
Import from SPB Wallet works with Safe Wallet v2.0.3.
SPB, along with a few other companies, just can't figure out how to make the same kind of money off Android as they did with WM...with all the free apps on market, they can't compete with 10 or 15 dollar apps. I would easily pay that to not have had to redo all my wallet info. I mean that was the whole reason for using it...but I went with 'pocket' for android...since it syncs with dropbox.
EDIT: Wow, wishing I hadn't at the moment...just found B-Folders...runs on every platform and specifically imports spb wallet text.
So the sync wasn't perfect, it did however get all data...it's just in 1 imported folder, so will have to reorganize...but all the info is there. It's a bit spendy, but I love the idea of being able to sync it to as many devices and pc as I want without using a cloud server.
I found this for SPB Wallet to KeePass, and then to KeePassDroid import.
Basically, you export from SPB Wallet as .txt, then trough this you convert the .txt to .xml format, which is readable for the desktop version of KeePass (I succeeded with xml v1.0 import on KeePass for windows), and then you move the .kdbx to android and open it with KeePassDroid.
Works for me although it doesn't import the categories as they are in spb, but it's ok
Now available http://www.spb.com/android-software/wallet/
NO WAY!
I wrote spb asking if there were plans for this...with no reply...spent $30 dollars transferring and setting up inferior option over the last month. Now it arrives!
There's no emoticon to represent my simultaneous feeling of happiness and frustration!
....anyways just tried it out...and it's not a quick crappy port...fully functional and great just like WM and Desktop versions...plus it's 50% off right now.
$3.50 => jump on it
Thanks for the post...would not have known for a while!

But I use KeePassDroid
Anyone using this, and having sync issues. It seems like a crazy way to sync with Gmail account involved? I got a sync Android to PC, but when I try the other way it says cannot connect to gmail with that username/password...even though I tried 10 times and they are correct. I think a better syncing method will be dropbox with wallet file...if only dropbox android app was a fully functional app and did live syncing.

It is a known bug, w/o a solution at the moment...I've been talking to Spb, they are working on it....it's still a random issue, and nobody knows why yet. I see you got a successful one...be careful...there is missing entries with some syncs for me...and if you sync a 2nd time, they will disappear on both sides and be gone forever. I've been doing full backups and just syncing the file for now. ie dropbox, or if you haven't been using MyPhoneExplorer...amazing program to sync anything you want....files, folders, contacts, calendars (Thunderbird too).
I'm sure you're watching updates as well, but I'll post here as soon as a fixed update comes out.
I got an update 2.0.1 a few minutes ago...fixed sync issues for me.

Two news about:
1. SafeWallet allow you to import directly from SPB Wallet format, and have a desktop app to sync.
2. This week SPB launch SPB Wallet for Android, I don´t install it yet but in the official video looks exactly like in WinMo and, apparently, have desktop sync to.

The desktop sync is horrible...it syncs via a Gmail account only...by sending attachments of your .swl file. It does not encrypt your password, so you cannot save it. Also, it hardly ever works, DeskTop to Gmail...fails 90% of the time. Spb is aware of issue...but haven't heard back about when it will be fixed or how they plan to do it. Hopefully they are abandoning this silly email sync.

Importing of books

Does anybody else get importing of books when you flash rom?
Yeah. It's the built in Reader app importing your ebooks.
yeah but I have them in there and I get them again without the pics.
You can try the Kindle app if you have the .mobi files

Ebook app import epub limit

So the ebook app that comes installed with TW allows a maximum of 100 epub files to be imported. The Nook app has no such limit. It would be fantastic if the apk could be modified to remove this limitation.
The issue I have with the Nook app is when you sign out and back in or uninstall/reinstall, it wipes out your downloaded content. I found I had to do this often when a book or magazine would not sync. Also if I unsubscribed from a magazine, my entire library would disappear. First account it completely screwed it up. Second account it screws it up at first and then I have to start my local library all over after signing out and back in.
I wish the ebook app could scan for files it could read/authenticate and automatically import them.
I imported 132 epubs without problems, 22 rows x 6 columns plus the free epub that come with the app, 133 epubs. This worked on the US TW rooted and non-rooted and the EU TW rooted.

[Q] How to sync kobo library with ereader?

Ok, perhaps I am just being dense, but I can't figure out how to sync free books which I have added to my kobo account library (using a we browser on kobo's site directly), down to my flyer so that I can read them with the HTC ereader. I was able to download them by installing the kobo app, but even then I don't see them in the ereader. Any clues? Thanks!
same here.
Neil
Did you sync your kobo account in the reader via the settings in the reader?
I know when I put some books files on my card that I had purchased (mainly kindle files that I converted), I had to clear the data in the settings and then restart the tablet. The reader then imports the books. But if you log in to your account via the settings you should be ok.

Hey, I am unable to sync too. I am not even able to log in KOBO through the setting area of HTC READER. It says Unable to connect to the server...
However, on the KOBO/KINDLE App, I can log in...I just can't log in Kobo through HTC's Reader app...etc
I prefer to sign in through HTC's Reader app bc it implements the writing and highlighting functions.
Hi, I've asked Kobo. They write back that it is possible to buy books in HTC ebook and read them in the Kobo-App but not the other way.
I think it's strange.

If you buy it in the kobo app, check the available for download tab in HTC reader

I don't really get the accounts tab, it has two entries for me, the kobo one and an Adobe air one. Each entry has a green checkmark next to them. On this screen, if I hit the menu button nothing happens. If I hit one of the accounts, I get the screen where I can see my username, and a password field, the show pw button, and a signout button. Only the signout button actually does anything. Again, no menus here. So does this mean I am signed in? If so, how come it still shows no books on the download tab?
Oh wow... if you seriously cant purchase online & sync down... thats crazy lol.
I can understand it though... The partnership with HTC & Kobo wouldn't necessarily make sense if you could. HTC might have it set up where they get some money for all books downloaded.
Seriously tho... I think if you purchased it you have the go ahead (morally) to dl it from the net and transfer to your flyer.
At. The bottom of the reader shop screen. There's a little tab second one from right. Press it. It says available for download and has any books you bought from kobo

[Q] Add downloaded epub to Nook

Can anyone tell me how to add a downloaded epub to my account. I like to sync my books between my phone and my nook and I have a lot of books on my phone that I've either downloaded from other places or edited and they don't sync thru b&n. Does anyone know how to make this happen?

Copy/move the epub to sdcard/nook/mydocuments.
Another option is to use one of the many cloud services; dropbox Ubuntu, spideroak, etc. Set it up to sync your books folder.

I use Calibre and use the device syncing myself, but the dropbox option is a good one.
I find the the library app finds the epub files placed almost anywhere in either /media or /sdcard but the My Files/Books folder on either seems to be designed for it.
Yeah, the problem is it doesnt then sync across devices. Like from the app on my phone and my nook. I here adobe digital editions lets you sync books to your actual B&N account. So I think I'll try that sometime soon.
