Ok, perhaps I am just being dense, but I can't figure out how to sync free books which I have added to my kobo account library (using a we browser on kobo's site directly), down to my flyer so that I can read them with the HTC ereader. I was able to download them by installing the kobo app, but even then I don't see them in the ereader. Any clues? Thanks!
same here.
Neil
Did you sync your kobo account in the reader via the settings in the reader?
I know when I put some books files on my card that I had purchased (mainly kindle files that I converted), I had to clear the data in the settings and then restart the tablet. The reader then imports the books. But if you log in to your account via the settings you should be ok.

Hey, I am unable to sync too. I am not even able to log in KOBO through the setting area of HTC READER. It says Unable to connect to the server...
However, on the KOBO/KINDLE App, I can log in...I just can't log in Kobo through HTC's Reader app...etc
I prefer to sign in through HTC's Reader app bc it implements the writing and highlighting functions.
Hi, I've asked Kobo. They write back that it is possible to buy books in HTC ebook and read them in the Kobo-App but not the other way.
I think it's strange.

If you buy it in the kobo app, check the available for download tab in HTC reader

I don't really get the accounts tab, it has two entries for me, the kobo one and an Adobe air one. Each entry has a green checkmark next to them. On this screen, if I hit the menu button nothing happens. If I hit one of the accounts, I get the screen where I can see my username, and a password field, the show pw button, and a signout button. Only the signout button actually does anything. Again, no menus here. So does this mean I am signed in? If so, how come it still shows no books on the download tab?
Oh wow... if you seriously cant purchase online & sync down... thats crazy lol.
I can understand it though... The partnership with HTC & Kobo wouldn't necessarily make sense if you could. HTC might have it set up where they get some money for all books downloaded.
Seriously tho... I think if you purchased it you have the go ahead (morally) to dl it from the net and transfer to your flyer.
At. The bottom of the reader shop screen. There's a little tab second one from right. Press it. It says available for download and has any books you bought from kobo

Hi all,
I'm in the nice position of having managed to cancel my orange contract early for free ( T+C changes) and can now take out a spanking new contract.
The hero is top of the list as I can't be waiting for the X3 to emerge.
I currently have a Touch HD/Blackstone.
The HD can do all I want it to, I use it mainly for business, so the question is this:
Can the hero sync my outlook calender ok(it is linked to my google account as well)? Can it read adobe file ok? and Doc's? excel?
Does it recieve email ok?
Basically, can it do all I've mentioned ok?
Sorry so long winded.....
Ta
Edit: bugger, typo in title!
Basically, yes to all, although I haven't actually tried Excel.
Yes it will read Excel files, using QuickOffice - but can't write to Excel or Word docs
You can read and write Word and Excel using Documents to go.
Regards,
Dave
Outlook requires HTC Sync
Google Mail/Calendar/Contacts sync out of the box
Exchange works on the hero just fine
Mine recieves my emails before my desktop does (which is nice)
PDF's, DOC's, XLS's can be read with QuickOffice but there are tools on the market for writing to them
Don't use HTC Sync. If your outlook calendar is already linked to your google account, use that instead. HTC Sync is just atrocious.
as for the rest, yes, quick office opens them to view, but you can buy Documents-to-Go in the market which can edit them as well.
Does HTC sync work with the rezound? Outlook sync is very important to me. Thanks.

What do you use HTC sync for? If you use Outlook, your company probably has Exchange, and you can use the phone's native mail app to get all your email and calendar events (& contacts).
Are you checking work email or are you using Outlook at home for personal email?

Wookiefan - No need to get into a lot of a specifics as to my usage, as that doesn't change the question (but no, I am not on exchange).
The question remains:
Does anyone KNOW if HTC sync work with the rezound? Thanks to those who know.
Just curious since I never used HTC Sync. How is it different than syncing your google contacts and the phone contacts? If you create all the contacts under your G account, won't they always be everywhere?
No Cloud - Still looking for any answer; thanks.
It enables direct sync with your data in Outlook (useful, among other things, for those of us who are not entirely interested in having everything run through Google's servers).
For those familiar with ANY window phone, it would be identical to ActiveSync.
ANYWAY, all I am asking here is a factual question. Can someone who actually has the Rezound please let me know if HTC Sync is either included on a CD in the box, or is otherwise sitting in the root of the EMMC or SD Card. It is either there or it isn't, and I will take that as an indicator. Thanks so much.
I don't have a Rezound (yet; plan on getting one within the next month), but in my reading about it before getting one, I downloaded the User Guide from HTC's website. Pages 274 - 285 discuss using HTC Sync to sync your contacts and calendar to Outlook, as well as syncing photos, videos, documents, music, playlists, and bookmarks to your phone. You can even install third-party applications (.APK files) to the Rezound using HTC Sync.
It doesn't appear that it is included in the box with the phone (either on CD or on the phone), but can be downloaded from HTC's website. I'd provide links, but apparently I haven't posted here before, even though I registered more than two years ago.

Wow, and that didn't involve answering attempts at help with snarkiness. Just research. On the manufacturer's website. Wow.

Can anyone tell me how to add a downloaded epub to my account. I like to sync my books between my phone and my nook and I have a lot of books on my phone that I've either downloaded from other places or edited and they don't sync thru b&n. Does anyone know how to make this happen?

Copy/move the epub to sdcard/nook/mydocuments.
Another option is to use one of the many cloud services; dropbox Ubuntu, spideroak, etc. Set it up to sync your books folder.

I use Calibre and use the device syncing myself, but the dropbox option is a good one.
I find the the library app finds the epub files placed almost anywhere in either /media or /sdcard but the My Files/Books folder on either seems to be designed for it.
Yeah, the problem is it doesnt then sync across devices. Like from the app on my phone and my nook. I here adobe digital editions lets you sync books to your actual B&N account. So I think I'll try that sometime soon.
Sorry to bother you guys but i'm looking for THE epub reader.
I'll explain myself. I read epub on both my phone and tablet (htc sensation, soon replace by S3, and my asus TFP). It's pretty hard to find a good app for reading epub.
I want to sync all my book, bookmarks, notes between my devide.
I've tried:
moon reader (lot of lag when turning pages, and don't like to use dropbox, i don't have an account)
aldiko (no turning pages effect, no sync)
kobo (needs a account)
fbreader (no shelf, no syncing)
mantano (no turning pages effect, no sync)
google books (not available in France, can't import epub file)
go books (no sync)
Mantano had a service for syncing but It's really lame to having me paid just for that.
So, at the end, I'm looking for an app with:
shelf
turning pages effect (optionnal)
free syncing
Smooth (lag driving me crazy)
Off line dictionnary
What did I missed?
I don't use an ebook reader app but there is an Aldiko Sync app in the Play Store.
admiralwilly, have you found something?
Thank you.
Maybe moon reader but it's need a dropbox account. I've figured out that the syncing function isn't working very well. I've check it since last update.
Moved to correct sub forum.

annotanios export
I did a litle research and now i suggestt to use moon reader. i did not see any lags, and there is no any any problem opening Dropbox account ad it has 2gb for free. I think its the best for epubs
Well, I searched the forums first, and the exact question I have is here, still unanswered. Hopefully this does not get me on anyone's bad side, but figured it was worth one more shot.
My question is pretty basic. I am on the HTC EVO 4G LTE, and I prefer to use the stock mail app instead of the specific gmail app, primarily because I use the "contacts" feature a lot, and like to be able to email people from that contact profile.
Whenever I send something to the trash from my EVO, it gets sorted into a label in (gmail on my desktop PC) called "IMAP/Trash". I want simply for this to go directly into my trash, and not be labeled/sorted separately. That's my whole question- is there a way to do this? With sent/trash/whatever, I'd like it not to get sorted into separate IMAP labels in gmail when I access it via my web browser.
I realize that this works seamlessly when using the gmail app on my EVO, but I'd prefer to use the generic email app. I do not see any setting which allows me to configure this on my phone, and I have tried every available option I can find in my gmail settings, but to no avail.
I would hugely enormously appreciate any help anyone might be able to give me.
Thanks in advance.
Have you looked through the settings while logged in from a browser? There may be something there to let you change where it goes.
Instead of IMAP setting, setup your gmail as exchange. Do a google search for the process. Then you'll have push email and all your folders should match. Hope this helps. Btw gmail searches my contact list? Not sure why yours can't. Good luck!

I don't know if you found an answer, but I was able to fix it by going to the desktop Gmail settings, "Labels" tab > then check the "Show in IMAP" for Sent mail, Drafts & Trash. Then removed the unwanted Labels (IMAP/Trash, IMAP/Sent & IMAP/Draft).
