Hi All,
So I DID do a search, but I didn't find anything that seemed to match perfectly, or that would work for sure on the TB.
So what I have is the following:
rooted Thunderbolt running STOCK OTA update Gingerbread with clockworkMod recovery. So basically:
Android Version: 2.3.4
HTC Sense Version: 2.1
Software number: 2.11.605.3
PRI Version: 4.41_002, 1.64_002
PRL Version: 15027
ERI Version: 5
Kernel version: 2.6.35.13-nerozehl-dream-2.9.0-beta_SENSE
Baseband version: 1.48.00.0906w_1, 0.01.78.0906w_2
Build number: 2.11.605.3 CL147855 release-keys
Ok Here's the problem: my USB connection doesn't work (plug into PC, choose as mount to disk drive). This issue DID NOT HAPPEN WITH THE PHONE IN STOCK EVERYTHING, so I'd like to go back to the state. I need a fully working phone in case I decide to trade it in for a bionic :-(
Can someone please offer a noob link to restoring to stock that will work on both stock gingerbread 2.3.4 and the Thunderbolt?
Thanx for the help!
Can't really even tell you where to start until we know your bootloader.
How can I find out?

Thanx for the response. Please pardon my n00b-iness, but how do I find out which boot loader I'm on? Is this something I can find out in Settings or would I have to boot into recovery?
Thanx.
if the issue is not being able to get files on your phone via USB, there's always dropbox(it's free)
First things first, as posted above, you need to find out what bootloader you have.
First, you need to get into your bootloader. You can do so by doing the following steps:
1. Power down the devices.
2. Simultaneously hold down the volume down button and the power button until the screen turns on. This is the bootloader.
Now look at the second line of text. I should look like: HBOOT- with some numbers.
The numbers should be one of the following: 1.04.0000 or 1.05.0000
Also look at the top line and see if it says S-OFF. If it does, then this will be very easy.
If it's S-OFF simply download the ruu from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312193
Put it on the root of your sdcard (make sure it's named PG05IMG.zip)
Power down the device and again boot into the bootloader. It should automatically start loading the RUU, just follow the directions on screen. Once that is done, you are 100% stock on the latest OTA.
So check what bootloader you have. If you DON'T have s-off, post back or shoot me a PM and I'll try to help you further.
I would double check your USB cable and maybe try a different USB port. On my home pc (old windows xp) the USB ports on the front don't work but the ones on the back work. Jut a thought before you go through all the work to unroot.

As for the USB connectivity issues, please disregard. Its a Windows 8 issue. Works fine with Windows 7 (yes I'm kicking myself in the head for that one)

I have also tried flashing the supposed "final" GB bits here --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1312193
but now all that happens is I ONLY get 1X data that comes and goes (it does NOT activate neither 3G or 4G). I even tried *#*#4646#*#* and chose CDMA/LTE auto and that did NOT help.
Out of desperation I also tried flashing the following radios from --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1048128&highlight=radio
•From the 2.11.605.3 RUU:
•CDMA: 1.48.00.0906
md5: c6a5a9eee78e0f33267fa80ced3c49b8
•LTE: 0.01.78.0906
md5: 6f33809cf2253c38a3c6bb970f030eee
and STILL either no data, or 1X.
I'm at a loss here. How the heck do you return the TB to FULL stock everything (ready for a warranty or a sale for example)?
Thanx!
You used revolutionary to get s-off. That is a protected bootloader that prevents an ruu from replacing it. You will have to follow certain instructions that can be found In the development section. I'd post a link but I'm on my phone. Just look for a "return to stock guide/how to" thread. It will have instructions for revolutionary users.

it will definitely fox your bootloader issue. As for the radio I'm not sure. Try flashing an earlier gb radio and see of that works. Also keep in mind that the battery cover has part of the antenna built into it, so be sure that cover is snapped on all the way.

No problem.
When I first bought the thunderbolt, the Verizon rep told me the phone wouldnt work right if the cover wasn't on, and I didn't understand until I look at the little metal pieces on it, and o realized that it was part of the antenna.

Before you run the ROM Update Utility (RUU), make sure you have done the following:
• The correct PC driver for your Android phone has been installed.
• The Android phone is connected to your PC using the USB cable. The PC must recognize the Android phone.
• Standby or hibernation mode of your PC has been disabled.
• Close all running applications on the PC.
(MY Note: including Antivirus)
Important Do not interact with your Android phone unless the RUU wizard instructs you to do so.

USE ONLY FOR EMERGENCY PURPOSES. THIS OVERWRITES EVERYTHING!!!!
**THIS WILL RETURN YOU TO FRESH OUT OF THE BOX**
You will not need any special drivers loaded, etc...
1.Download the stock ROM ZIP image from here: and rename it "PG86IMG.zip"
2.Copy it to SD Card
3.Reboot phone into hboot mode by holding volume down and then press power.
Keep volume down held until you boot into hboot mode.
4.In hboot mode the phone will scan the SD card with the image. Once it finds it will ask you if you want to update. Press "Power" to update.
5.Wait.... For a while. When it gets to "system" it will loop a few times. Its quite nerve wracking actually but after about 5 or 6 times it will complete.
6.Once the entire flash is complete it will prompt you to "press power to reboot." Press power and your phone will reboot to 100% stock ROM.
7.Once the phone has been flashed you will need to set the secure flag on the radio for S-ON to do this use "fastboot oem writesecureflag 3" Make sure you are in fastboot menu. To do this power down and hold power down while powering up and select fastboot. I have attached the fast boot and adb files to the post.

what's the best way to get root that thing? and unlock too i guess... i want to try some of the roms out there (all that bloatware drives me nuts. i use my amazon kindle fire and i think i'd enjoy much more htc instead, but it takes at least couple of minutes to boot up that thing that's a big turn off for me (i use it mostly on the train and long booting up is definitely not a good thing)), so i want to try to flash [ROM][VIEW][HC] DeSensed-View Version 2.1 - 3/30/12 - xda-developers (i'd love to use ice cream sandwich instead, but unless i'm mistaken that's neither available nor does it looks like it ever will be available for this tablet) what other good ROMs out there?
Well the "best" way depends on what version of Android you are currently running. Could you please tell us your version, along with your hboot version and info so we can give you a bit clearer guidance? Nope not that I know of friend. :/ You see it's not the version of Android itself that prevents you from S-OFFing, its the version of the hboot installed on the device. I believe updating to HC changes the hboot, and the only way to revert is to use a RUU containing a exploitable hboot, in our case the Gingerbread ones. Does that make sense?

ok, makes sense. i just wanted to confirm that... ok, i'll work on downgrading, unlocking hboot, installing clockwork rom manager, flashing w/ de-sense rom... did I miss anything out?
That will be it, minus ROM Manager. When I said Clockwork MOD I meant the recovery, sorry!! I personally don't use, or recommend ROM Manager, and I'm not even sure if the Flyer/View supports it. The one thing I would do though is to spend some time reading through the View development forums, and finding things like the correct RUU, etc, BEFORE you start ANYTHING!! It's REALLY important to have all your ducks in a row before starting something like this to ensure that you don't brick anything!!
So to clarify;
You need to perform these instructions: (To revert to a exploitable hboot)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428106
Then these: (To gain S-OFF)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1194709
And then these: (To gain recovery)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=14693680
Then download a View ROM of your choice and flash away!!

Hi all,
I was trying to downgrade my HTC Flyer (3G and WiFi EU version, HTC_001) to gingerbread. Everything seemed to work as instructed but I'm now stuck on the white loading screen with the HTC logo on it, and can neither boot or communicate with the device.
For the downgrade I followed the instructions on this thread really carefully:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1428104
I was using the 2.23.405.3 RUU.
To begin with, I'd upgraded to honeycomb by following Paul's guide, that had all been working fine for the last 6 months or so.
I've managed to power down the flyer through the adb fastboot, but that's as far as I can get. I'm not very experienced with this, so if anyone can make some suggestions on steps I could take to get my flyer working again I'd really appreciate it.
Many thanks,
Andii
Get into hboot and tell me your hboot version and if it says unlocked. I think you followed the wrong procedure and likely have hc hboot with gb system or something like that
Hi,
Thank you for replying. My Hboot is 6.11.1111
Does it say unlocked at the top or s off

I don't know, because it won't turn on now...
when I went through the process of the downgrade, at one point it gave me an instruction which involved locking. The command prompt said it was "already locked".
If it is not charging you will have to try to charge the battery independent of your flyer. There are some threads showing how to do this. Google it. I think you were soff hc and you flashed gb. The ruu can not overwrite the soff hboot so you are left with miss match parts thus no charge

Thanks so much for your help. I've found some of those threads; I've gotta say, It looks pretty complex and I think taking it apart is way beyond my capacity to sort. Rather regretting getting into this now, lesson learned! Is there no other option? If I send it off, obviously my warranty is voided, but will they repair it (at my cost of course)?
I'll read the charging threads thoroughly, but am really anxious about the process.
They should be able to repair it easily

Greets,
I've more or less exactly the same problem. I was on some Leedroid Custom HC version. For upgrading to a newer Leedroid Version I was downgrading back to Gingerbread using globatrons Downgrade Thread.
Worked fine until first reboot.
First I used RUU_Flyer_TMO_DE_2.27.111.1 (cause I have a 3G/Wifi T-Mobile branded device)
and later I tried again via this RUU_Flyer_HTC_WWE_2.23.405.3 (Stock version?!)
Still not working.

Hej,
I used the downgrade procedure from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=18508210&postcount=1 starting from "Downgrade".
I didn't create a goldcard, I was "just" using the RUUs mentioned in my last post.
Thx!
Your hboot said s off. To me that means you had s off hc which could not be downgraded using the method you tried. You likely have hc hboot and gb system. Go to easy s off hc thread and look at post 3. Download the correct downgrade package, 3G or wifi, follow instructions. Then flash gb ruu or gb rom

Hey Mcord,
thank you very much for your help, worked fine for me!
Now I just set up the gingerbread base (in S-OFF) on which I can install my ROM, didn't I?
It's written in the post that I can use the base for installing a HC Custom ROM (which was my intention) - can I just drop the Leedroid-ROM-ZIP on my SDcard and install it right away via the Bootloader?
Thanks again!
You have me all confused now. You were on hc with s off, why were you looking to go back to gingerbread? You could of just flashed the rom. Now you are on gb s off. To be able to flash hc roms use light package in op of same thread to get back to hc s off then flash lee rom.
What made you think you had to go back to gingerbread
I read somewhere in here http://www.modaco.com/topic/345950-...g-honeycomb-on-your-flyer-the-complete-guide/ that you need to go back to Gingerbread before installing another HC custom release. I was wondering a bit myself, though.
In Leedroid FAQ also globatron's instructions (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19607802&postcount=1) are linked at the Install FAQ. So I was just working off the instructions. First time flashing to Honeycomb was also more or less like this - I was on some GB version and I had to downgrade to a lesser version number of GB before actually going to Leedroids HC release; so this time I was not questioning myself for a sense behind it ^^
With light package I guess you mean the Instructions Part 2 in http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=19607802&postcount=1 this thread?
3 has the light updates meant to be used if you intend on flashing a rom immediately. You got confused a bit with s off and htc dev unlock. You were s off and free to flash roms
Currently I have a Evo 4G LTE and it is rooted with CyanogenMod 10 installed on it. All the info about my phone is below. I need to get the phone back to its normal Andoid stock OS like when I got it. I'm trying to give the phone to my dad and we can't switch numbers to the phone without getting the "Update Profile" option which is not on CyanogenMod 10.
Now here is my real problem. When I plug the phone into my computer, it makes a sound in Windows like it's being pulgged in but it doesn't show up. When I plug it in, it shows the screen with the Android logo holdign a USB and says "USB connected You've connected to your computer via USB. Touch the button below if you want to copy files between your computer and your Android's SD card." When I click "Turn on USB storage" it gives a loading ring that will stay there forever. If I turn the screen or press the home button to turn the screen on and off again, it shows up with "Turn on USB storage" but if I press it again, it loads forever with it never showing up on the computer.
Can anyone help me find a reason to get this recognized on my computer so I can get the stock OS on here for my dad?

I have TWRP recovery. When I boot into recovery, a blue screen with "teamwin" comes up and then I get a screen with "Install, Wipe, Backup, Restore, Mount, Settings, Advanced, and Reboot." The top says "Team Win Recovery Project v2.1.8.

I'm gonna need some help with this.
How would I go about doing this if I can't get my computer to see the device? Would I need to put the ROM on the SD card by putting it in my other phone and then flash it?
I'm also not sure how to flash it. My friend did this for me on a whim because he said it was better. I did like it but I don't know how to get it back.

First uninstall everything HTC and reboot your PC
Then download this http://d-h.st/16h extract it to your desktop
Re-install the drivers included
Then read the Read Me to get twrp updated but use the one I have attached below
Once you get that done PM me and we will do the rest

I know how frustrating this process can be, I went through it just a few days ago. I ended up flashing my entire rom and erasing all data. I used this website: www.unlimited.io/jewel.htm. Just follow the instructions and you need Ubuntu 12 or later. Ubuntu is free: Ubuntu. I followed all of these instructions and I have the latest RUU installed for my device. It also works perfectly. Also, doing this process will also turn the S-ON to S-OFF on your phones bootloader. From what I have heard, with the S-ON it is much more difficult to flash customROM's onto the device. When you are finished with the process, you will have to reinstall your recovery manager, re-unlock, and re-root.
Hope that helped,
Chris C.

If your dad isn't opposed to having a rooted phone, simply install a Sense ROM. There are several "stock rooted" ROM's that will be as close to stock without having to unroot. You can then update your profile from the Sense ROM, like Bigdaddy stated previously. Flashing is fairly simple, too

Yes, but through this process, it allows you to reflash the stock rom. A multitasking process.

You can flash a stock unrooted rom with S-ON just as easy... 1 extra step

This is just the way I did it. I figured turning S-Off would be an added benefit.

Hello, for starters I'd like to thank all of you talented individuals for the priceless information shared on this forum. I've used the search function on this board endlessly and it almost always leads me to an answer to my questions. I have failed to diagnose a solution to my current situation.
Background:
I made a trade on craigslist and acquired an Evo 3D on the Sprint Network. I traded an almost new iPhone 5 for the Evo 3D+ $150. The person with the Evo told me it had a crack on the screen in the corner, no big deal. Upon inspection after I finally got the numbers switched & made my way back home to dig into the phone I found out that It was pretty much a junker phone. (Still a good trade to me ) The battery took forever to charge and only held the charge for about 45 minutes. ( its better now after a couple complete undisturbed charges) & the re redd/white sticker for water damage was completely red :/
After disassembling & cleaning with alcohol & qtips= I got it functioning to a decent state.
The phone was apparently previously rooted, with a Super(something) Rom (i forget what it was called but it had sense & a stock wallpaper of the black superman logo)
The Bootloader reads as follows:
***UNLOCKED***
SHOOTER XC SHIP S-ON RL
HBOOT 1.50.000
eMMc-boot
Booting Recovery Leads me to:
Revolutionary CWM v4.0.1.4

IMPORTANT NOTE: My phone will not establish a connection to my PC, or my Mac. It ONLY charges. I've tried all options, & ruled out all of them, because just prior to this, I rooted my cousins Evo 4G from cmd with adb & flashboot over usb.
Using FlashGUI I was able to try out a MIUI Rom & I Also used Smooth.Criminal.v2.3 for the most part.
I was having issues with my camera or something along those lines & I ended up doing a factory reset/wipe data from CWM in hopes of reflashing the ROM.
This is where it starts... I couldn't get anything except CWM to load, & obviously Fastboot will not enter USB mode in order to flash boot.img.
I flashed a stock ROM & finally got it to boot up, but I cannot get root access, the ROM auto installs superuser 3.1.1 & the app will download new binaries, but stalls and fails on "Gaining root access..."

TLDR; My phone is S-ON 1.5 Hboot, I need to somehow flash it via sd card or ssh instead of USB, as USB datra won't connect to any computers :/
Thanks in advance! I wish I had more background info on this phone but It was pre-rooted with 1.5 prior to me getting it, so I tried to read as much as humanly possible.
I tried providing as much info as possible.
Let me know what I can do to make this work easier or re-gain Root, so I can at least install FlashGUI again.
Much love to the XDA forum members!
