Remember we have the U.S. carrier blockade to deal with.
I just want a new kernel w/ ZSL support, more camera options (like burst & whatnot) & a radio update. By the time we get ours. (Probably November?)
Not much, just some refinements.
My phone notifies me about the update too (look @ my screenshot) from Germany
My frequently question is if the update will change the hboot version or should block the revolutionary unlock method in some way

My EVO 3d already came with the sim toolkit.....it basically let's you access the services provided by your carrier like scores, news ,some extra services etc...obviously at a cost....(varies from carrier to carrier...)

Can you pull the zip file and Send it over to myns... He is a great dev.
Hm,I`m rooted and S-Off,so I think it`s not possible!°
Also at 1.20.401.8 seems there is a new hboot (1.49.0018)
Can these updates be installed to rooted phones? if not, how can you unroot a gsm version of the phone? And will unrooting wipe all the data?

As far as I know,it´s not possible to install OTA updates to rooted phones/

Root/custom ROMs don´t accept OTA certificates!

Hi,
i have my new HTC EVO 3D since today and want to root it!
My hboot version is 1.49.0007 and not supported in revolutionary.exe !
Is there a way to root my phone or is it to "new" because my divice is not supported at the moment?
Thanks for answers!
Best regards
did you try and use it or stopped at reading the requirements?
Try to contact alpha rev and give them some confirmation that there's a new hboot in the wild. They haven't released their exploit so HTC almost definitely didn't patch it.
Could be a different GSM version of the HBOOT, seeing as he's not from the USA.
This is the same HBOOT version as the evo3d that was released in Canada last Friday. As far as I know its unrootable at the moment, I did try a couple methods all of which failed.
How can i contact alpha rev??

Confirm that you have a gsm evo3d and if you do I don't believe there is a solution for you yet.
The GSM Version of the 3D uses a different HBOOT which as you found out is unable to be made to S-OFF at the moment. I believe the Temp-Root methods still work though and you could use those.

What about the European Sensation aka GSM Sensation, can it be rooted or same issue as with Evo3D?

I'm sure HTCs unlocker will do it, question though is when.
This might be the dumbest question ever, just want to make sure. I got the SPRINT HTC EVO 3D from my sister, I live outside the US so I'm using the phone abroad with another company. Is there any way I can get the sprint ICS update?? Thanks in advance.

The short answer is no. Sprint has not released their ICS update yet. However, Virgin Mobile (a Sprint subsdiary) has. You can download ROMs based off of that firmware. I hear derpICS is pretty popular.
However, I personally recommend CM9 Devil Toast. I much prefer the CyanogenMod experiance compared to an HTC Sense-based one. But feel free to try out both and find out what works best for you. A word of caution, though: (almost) all the ROMs you will find on this forum are geared towards Sprint. I'd be careful about using them with another carrier.
And finally, this topic you started should really go in the Q&A section.
All of the information above assumes you have a CDMA device. If you're international and your Evo 3D does not have Sprint written right below the front facing camera, it's entirely possible that you have a GSM version, in which case I suggest you check out over here: EVO 3D GSM Android Development.

Yes you can update your 3d when sprint releases it though you are on another carrier .
But just to be safe , make a backup of all your EVO 3d carrier settings, prl etc using CDMA WORKSHOP or QPST . I too took the previous OTA updates and to my knowledge they don't touch your carrier settings .
Make sure you backup MMS settings too..

My only concern is that if the phone is abroad, it will not receive the ota since you are not on Sprint towers (right?).
EDIT: You do get OTAs even if you are out of country. Good to know. Thanks mnomaanw!

that doesn't make sense tho because this phone was never released with 2.3.6, it came with 4.0.3, so testing apps on 2.3.6 on this device would be well... pointless? if anything i would say test it in a emulator via the android sdk and go from there.

If you're still following this thread, my guess is that your customer wants you to test on the "EVO 4G" not the "EVO 4G LTE." Note that the Evo 4G does indeed have gingerbread. If you want one for testing, they are relatively cheap on Ebay.

SMH....Oh HTC, Shame on you. Not a JB update, not even Android 4.04 and Sense 4........ Bug fixes? for a broken OTA you pushed over 6 months ago to a device people purchased in good faith under 2 year contracts. All after swearing to produce fewer devices and provide better long term support. Fool me once.
We got that connection optimizer with the jb update on the lte, just about all the custom roms now have it removed.
