The fps uncapped roms on gingerbread don't seem to be quite as smooth as the uncapped froyo roms when the first custom kernels came along - does anybody know why?
also, is the fps performance improved with unlocked bootloader roms?
Thanks
I have the same impression.. and remember that when the first gingerbread ROMs and FPS uncap came, I almost turned back to froyo!

which one is the most stable with JIT enabled?
2.1 ROMs and how do you check?... benchmark results??
looking for a 4.5+ mflops with stability and Apps2SD working and with sense. battery life should be fairly good as well...

Ezhero and Vanilla eclair both top all of your requirements. Bu they are Vanilla, but Vanilla roms are usually way faster than sense roms, give one a try! Ezhero has jit, while Vanilla Eclair isnt, but both are extremely fast, and you chexk by going to the market and downloading neocore and linpack

cronos 1.5.1 with jit & o/c to 690 gives average 4.5 mflps for me.
but it doesnt look good without sense, i hate the navigation bar thing at the bottom of the homescreen...
any sense ROM getting 4.5mflops+??
people are using jit on villainrom 10.2 and getting 4.9mflops.
Im in the process of installing JIT on mine now
Update: getting 4.6 linpack scores and getting 29.2 fps on neocore without live wallpapers.
With live wallpaper running Linpack: 4.2
Install 10.2 villainrom and then follow the basic instructions here:

Yup. VillainROm 10.2 with JIT works fine for the day I had it running. I removed the JIT patch only because I was willing to trade speed for battery life. I found the JIT doubled the battery drain rate.
i couldnt even start up after using JIT on 10.2...
any other ROMs besides villain that you would recommend??
u need to let it load, takes ages after it first installs. Then play with it a couple of minutes then restart it. Repeat this procedure a few times and it should speed up and work fine
edit: i dont know about other roms... why move from the best?
it just froze, had to pull the battery...
and i remember russel saying that JIT was only stable with SuperHero and not VillainROM...
when u say froze, did it stick at the white screen that says quietly brilliant?
cant remember now, i switched ROM's... i really wish I hadnt done that now
So there is still 2 custom kernels, J's overclocked and z's with FPS cap removed, But is there way to get both benefits ? cuz i dont see reason to have removed cap , when mobile's GPU can't have more in most of games...
Which rom do you consider the fastest when it comes to playing 3D games? The speed goes up with 2.2 or 2.3 roms, but theyre not capable of flawless gaming (HW related, i know). The main problem are HD games (Miami Vindication, Fast 5 and Asphalt 6) which are the best...
Please dont mention roms wihout ability to take pics/video, or MIUI roms - i really hate their iphone like look, its like having awesome ferrari but covered in feces - no offence to their devs
Currently, no more than a few days, using TripNArc, but the camera doesnt work a with latest version (0.8) i cant call, so i probably go back to stock 2.1...
Wolf's CM 6.1.3 for me plays A6 no problem, as well as Zenonia 2.
It's a very speedy 2.2 rom, has multitouch and camera.
WB 3.16 rom.
I play Quake 2 with stencil shadows enabled.
No lags, no crashes.
Im on TripNArc 0.5 (0.9 is out, so im gonna try)
Quadrant - 1202
Linpack - 37.127 MFLOPS
but Miami Vindication lags still, even if not that much
as i read the wolfbreaks cm has fast battery drain problem, but i may try it
Would a custom kernel help increase the performance?

i'm using CM7.2 Stable now(with HBOOT 1.02 unlocked), and i feel cm7 is a little bit rough..
compare with CM9, Sense 2.1 Gingerbread ROM, CM6, or other devices' CM7 rom, i think legend's cm7 isn't well optimized
is there any fix to improve these performances? like other devices?
I love trying out all the new ICS and JB ROMs on my x10 (which isn't my primary phone) but because of the low frame rate it seems very laggy (probably seems laggier than it actually is)
On the GB ROMs the frame limit was unlocked to 60fps and everything seemed so much more responsive and fluid, is there any way to do this on any of the CM9/CM10 ROMs?
Are we talking FPS in gaming or are we talking about FPS in videos..or are we talking about both?
Or are we talking screen display and scrolling reaction time?
Videos.
FPS2D returns 54FPS on stock GB 2.3.3
FPS2D returns 43FPS on JB 4.1.2 CM10
My understanding is that anything that is not using a standard GB 2.3.3 ROM will not be able to use GPU 2D Hardware Acceleration.
2D HW Acceleration for the XPERIA X10i is not included in any CyanogenMod Build and I don't know off any other ICS of JB build that has HW acceleration enabled for the XPERIA X10i.
This means outside of the stock GB 2.3.3 ROM playing a .mkv 720p (H264,AC3) video would be worse in JB and ICS than on stock GB 2.3.3
A JB and ICS build uses the CPU to provide the video encoding only and does not solicit the GPU to offload processing to speed up performance/viewing/smoothness/lag.
Gaming
Now this one is less clear(to me).
If I use the Game demo of Epic Citadel as a Benchmark we see the following:
Stock GB 2.3.3 - Epic Citadel: 11.2FPS on performance
CM10 JB 4.1.2 - Epic Citadel: 11FPS on performance
So there is nothing in it.
Some gaming engines can make use of Adreno 200 GPU hardware features like hardware floating point and etc, but it's not clear if they do or not.
I can play Modern Combat 4 on my GB 2.3.3 (DoomKernel v6) XPERIA X10i. For me there is noticeable lag at points, but still very playable if you're not planning to upgrade to a new phone (XPERIA V) any time soon.
I have not attempted to play MC4 on JB or ICS XPERIA X10i ROM.
Note - MC4 plays a little bit better on an XPERIA LT26i with Overclocked CPU and Overclocked GPU though.
Summary
My understanding is that there is no GPU HW features available on any XPERIA X10i ROM for the Adreno 200 GPU outside of the Stock GB 2.3.3 ROM.
