[Q] waiting for sd card to mount loop - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Was going from stock to cm 7.1 following the wiki. Did the steps on my phone with no problem and then tried my wife's phone and ran into a problem.
Got to the part where in recovery you tell it to install update from zip and selected the CM 7.1 zip and then it reboots.
Starts the 20s count down waiting for the sd card to mount and then just reboots in a loop over and over again with the same count down. A message flashes at the end of the countdown but goes away to fast to know what it says.
Any help would be appreciated as to what to try next.

Had that kind of problem using a 32gb micro sd until i tried using my 16gb stock. Try using your micro sd to flash her phone.
This should be in the Q&A section by the way.

[Q] ROMs won't flash, totally stumped

I am stuck, I have been working on this for hours and can't get out of this. I am coming from Illuminate. The tablet started acting up so I decided to go back to a Froyo based ROM. The problem is that every ROM I try and apply get's flagged as corrupt. Clockwork shows file corrupt/installation aborted. I am able to nvflash back to a stock build to either boot loader. I even did a stock build without clockwork, then tried an upgrade using the update.zip and recovery folder and it failed as well because of the corruption. I have downloaded half a dozen ROMs and they all get marked corrupt. I have had problems with the USB connection to the tablet being a little unstable. Transfer speeds are mediocre and some file copies end up being zero bytes. I realize that the file copy could be getting corrupted but why would nvflash work through the USB cable?
Just an update, I tried using the micro sd card from my phone to copy a ROM to the internal SD card and got same corruption error. This appears to be an issue with the tablet and not the files. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Try doing the rom update from the external sd card. NVflash to stock without CWM, then go here http://viewsonic-gtablet-for-dummies.webs.com/rom.htm and follow the instructions in "Flashing a rom without CWM", Part B, Option II.

Thanks
Thanks for the suggestion, I will try this tonight when I get home.

App2SD Was working now cannot mount?

Hello All,
So I was telling my co-worker how much better my HTC desire was after I rooted and loaded a custom ROM on. I setup mine with App2SD using the Noob proof Desire Guide with the AceSMod007 2.3.3 rom
He asked me if the device can still boot if you take out the Micro SD card, So i tried it an the phone would not boot and seemed to loop. I put the Micro SD card back in and upon booting up again alot of my app's are not working. And i get low storage messages.
I'm guessing booting it up without the partition there has stuffed up the mounting...? How do i resolve it, do I use CWM-AlphaRev Recovery to fix it up and remount the card? (just guessing)
thanks very much
I ended up just reloading the ROM, thanks anyway

[Q] Can't mount SD card in CWM when trying to root

I used ODIN to get CWM on the phone, and when i boot into CWM i tried to install the root .zip file but it always says it can not mount SD card. any suggestions on how to resolve? No issues with the SD card when trying to access it from within the OS or through windows when connected to the pc.
you can try to reformat it via a pc, but your best bet is to replace it with a class 6 or higher unit.
I will give that a try when I get home. Thanks
I had an issue awhile back where I couldn't mount the SD in recovery unless I booted from power off (not reboot).
I ended up using my sd card from my droid x2. It worked fine with that one. Thanks for the suggestion. Once I got root I just put my original card back in since it works fine from within the os.

lol i dont know how to move it except just post new thread there
Sounds like you need a new SD card. Some of the stock cards don't play well with MTD based ROMs. I would probably get a Class 10 microSD card (be careful if you get 32gb, there are known problems with some of them)
I bought http://www.amazon.com/AmazonBasics-microSDHC-Class-Memory-Adapter/dp/B0058GH4U0/ref=sr_1_12?ie=UTF8&qid=1335980268&sr=8-12 and have had no problems at all after!
You are flashing the THS build 2 first right? You have to flash that rom, then reboot to recovery by holding down the power button wile your in the OS and select the recovery option after that you'll be in a compatible version of CWM. Flash AOKP M5 from there.
