i just hope it's not closed-source like what they did with Honeycomb :/
The apk's are odexed. So it can't be installed like a normal apk.
So don't get too excited about installing it on your Ace.
I believe developers are now trying to get the apks working, especially the launcher.
So be patient.
someone can modify this for ARMv6, there is just one XDA dev out there, I feel his presence already.

Listen! Ice Cream Sandwich will be available for all devices which able to run gingerbread but official ics will be only available to Nexus Family (One, S) So u guys might have to wait and... Optimus One devs are beginning to port it...

Good that SDK was released immediately after unveiled Nexus Prime. When google releases source code for ICS ,cyanogenmod developers will start work on CM9(CM8 was reserved for honeycomb-we may never see it) and then may be we can be lucky enough to get a port of it. For now we have the SDK and emulator.
Related
Which is only be ready when ics source is released... Then cyanogen will be working on it and will send the first nightlies like this:
Code:
cm-passion-nightly-0
This shows that Cyanogen have actually updated to the latest os OR the new version like:
7.1.3 or 9.0.0

@iDani3l Not really, becuz ics may work with other old devices, even my nexus one too!

Android isnt developed in a single version tree, the source tree gets updated
by any time - so every new version is a update/bugfix or upgrade.
the only reason to open a new tree like from froyo to ginger, or maybe from ginger to HC/ICS is incompatible
code - this isnt the way developers works on big projects, and, google has sayed the ICS is backward compatible.
So, lets see what the guru of www spend us

hello friends,
google has released the SDK for the new android 4.0 version.
as i've seen: there are a lot of changes on programm code, even in hardware
code - maybe we need weeks again to get this running on P500.
here is the short Changelog for changed code:

here are some very nice screens from ice cream sandwich:

There really is no point in porting the SDK, the version of ICS for the SDK emulator will not be complete and will be really buggy, It will be optimised for omap chip not arm too as the official google developer device is a samsung. it's best to wait for the source code to be released, i think the devs will agree
Doesnt the source code come with the sdk? Also i would bet 50 dollar that the Desire HD or any other Device with this chip gets a Ice Cream Sandwich port this week.^^
The SDK doesn't come with the source. we've had SDK Ports oh honeycomb since ages ago, but no one could bring stock HC to a device.

Hi.

I'm wondering if our LG Optimus One will get unofficial update (eg. mik_os CyanogenMod) or official (very unlikely).

Jean-Baptiste Queru Ver perfil Traducir al Español Más opciones 14 nov, 16:59 Hi! We just released a bit of code we thought this group might be interested in. Over at our Android Open-Source Project git servers, the source code for Android version 4.0 (Ice Cream Sandwich) is now available. Here's how to get it:Follow the instructions at http://source.android.com/source/downloading.htmlCheck out the 'ics-release' branch:repo init -u https://android.googlesource.com/platform/manifest -b android-4.0.1_r1 That's it! However since this is a large push, please be aware that it will take some time to complete. If you sync before it's done, you'll get an incomplete copy that you won't be able to use, so please wait for us to give the all-clear before you sync. This is actually the source code for version 4.0.1 of Android, which is the specific version that will ship on the Galaxy Nexus, the first Android 4.0 device. In the source tree, you will find a device build target named "full_maguro" that you can use to build a system image for Galaxy Nexus. Build configurations for other devices will come later. Unfortunately we still don't have our Gerrit code review servers back online. That remains our top priority though, and we hope to have them back soon. This release includes the full history of the Android source code tree, which naturally includes all the source code for the Honeycomb releases. However, since Honeycomb was a little incomplete, we want everyone to focus on Ice Cream Sandwich. So, we haven't created any tags that correspond to the Honeycomb releases (even though the changes are present in the history.)
JBQ, on behalf of the AOSP team. --Jean-Baptiste M. "JBQ" Queru Software Engineer, Android Open-Source Project, Google.

It's a very detailed answer! If you are not able to explain why these drivers and DK are not useful in order to make a fully functioning ICS for Atrix I'd rather say that it's better to stay tight-lipped and don't make useless posts. Okay? Thanks.
These aren't useful because we need a 3.x.x kernel source to make these work.

Great! The answer is almost right, almost. These drivers can be useful for 2.6 kernel as well but there are many but....so....it would be better and it's possible but difficult and annoying enough to work out a 3.0 kernel based on original basic ICS kernel modified in order to be used on Atrix.
