Can I do the ota for webos or will it mess up the cm7 install?

idk but i got into dev mode and installed a bunch of homebrew stuff with android on it. im guessing that if the webos ota has a new kernel then cm7 will be borked.
the update will only erase the moboot file only, so if you decide to update the touchpad, after the updating it, the cminstall on your touchpad is gone but cm7 is still on the touchpad, so all you need to do is make a new cminstall file on the touchpad and put moboot in it, and just do the acme installer... you basically do the same thing as you were going to install cm7 on the touchpad but you only need the moboot in the cminstall file

With the forward progress of the Android Alphas, I feel like my touchpad is teetering and slowly becoming more and more cluttered. Call me an OCD freak but right now I need help going back to square one;
I want to wipe the touchpad completely, of android, webos, all data.
Reinstall webos fresh and clean and updated.
Install the 3.5 release of the android alpha
continue loving my touchpad
If anyone knows what I need to accomplish these goals, let me know? Thanks.

There is a preware app that removes everything android, that's out. I have not tried it but it sounds good if you want to start over.
Web-doc does not remove all the files and folders. I thank it just changes the format.
so no one knows a way to just format everything?

I also would like to know how to wipe everything including all android partitions and ext3fs partitions (from ubuntu). I think I read somewhere the doctor doesn't rewrite partition tables. Any help would be great!

Hi everyone, new to xda.
I also thought it would be a good idea to wipe my TP clean and re-install with the latest version of xron's build. I've had every version of cm7 since it was first released and countless apps, so it was kind of cluttered up. Anyway, uninstalled with the acmeuninstaller and then did a factory erase in webos. Went about my business as usual with the acme installer (with cwm and moboot and the newest xron). Thought all was well until I boot to cwm, no cyanogenmod option! I flashed it using cwm, but I heard somewhere they don't recommend that, so I started over again, and flashed EVERY release from day 1 to the latest one. TP seems cleaner and less cluttered, but I was wondering why the acmeinstaller wouldn't recognize the xron file and install it?

I think you need to rename the xron filename to start with "update-...." and then do the acmeinstall with remaining 2 files i.e. cmw n moboot

since installing android partitions the memory, wouldn't you have to remove the android partition first in order to truly wipe the touchpad?
Once the partition is removed, you could use OS doctor to wipe what's left, and start fresh. At least that's what I'm thinking.
I read elsewhere that you can format the Touchpad in a Linux distro and remove all of the partitions. I have not tried it but I will when I get home and have a better internet connection.

Since i've upgrade to 3.0.4 i've lost access to CWM recovery. Its not on the moboot menu.
Here's what i tried.
Used ACMEUninstaller to completely remove android and reinstalled
Reinstalled touchpad CWM via ACMEInstaller
Downgraded to 3.0.2 and tried the above again
It still doesn't show up on the moboot 0.3.5 menu.
Any help would be much appreciated.

When you upgrade WebOS it partitions the SD card inside. You have to start over again with everything. If you had preware you must reload that to if you want to use it again. Android is gone must be reloaded along with CWM .
in other words, there's no possible way to install CWM again apart from uninstalling and repartitioning the drive?/

Know You just have to reload android, cmw, and moboot again. You already have 3.4 WebOS. CM ,Xron or what ever android you chose will partition the drive again so you will be able to enjoy WebOS and Android. But after that you may have to reinstall preware if you want it.
You dont first install CWM and then flash/upgrade WebOS, cause that will modify the /boot partition.
After you are done with web os upgrading/upgrading then you install/reinstall CWM.
just run the acmeinstaller with only cwm file in it and maybe moboot if you had the 3.0.4 version and want to update to 3.0.5

Ive tried that already as i mentioned in my first post.
Here's exactly what happened
-Initially had webOS 3.02 and CM7 (everything functional including CWM)
-Upgraded to webos 3.04
-Lost access to CWM
-downgraded to webos 3.02 using WEBOS doctor(because some applications wouldn't work and lost CWM, i thought 3.04 was preventing it from opening in some way)
-lost complete access to android
-flashed MOBOOT 0.3.5 using ACMEInstaller
-android restores
-Flashed CWM using ACMEInstaller
-still no CWM

If i remember correctly the first time i downloaded moboot their were compatability issues with 0.3.5 thats why i,m using 0.3.4 .
But maybe that was fixed.
Could it have something to do with the patches and kernals in the /boot partition like the original installations when Alpha was first out?
I remember the first time the Alpha was released, there was no space to install CWM so I had to move a file out of the boot partition (update.uImage or something) then install CWM and got it working.
I upgraded to 3.0.4, and all I lost was moboot. What I had to do to get moboot back was use acmeinstaller to install moboot.
I'm on webOS 3.0.4 with CM7, and CWM installed. No problems.

I just did this on my TP which had moboot 3.0.4 and no ClockWorkMod boot option. The re-run of AcmeInstaller was successful and upgraded moboot to 3.0.5 and installed the ClockWorkMod boot menu item and it works.

P.S. the one note I might have is that I decided to re-name the CWM .zip from update-cwm_tenderloin-1012.zip to update-cwm-tenderloin.zip - I changed the underscore to a dash - Not sure if that made any difference at all, but it did install!

I tried flashing it through ACME but it didn't work. Installed Xron and the files got mixed up with the previous android version.
I'd like to wipe everything off including the SD. And then do a fresh restore with WebOS doctor after which im gonna install CM9
Any advice?
I'd run ACMEUninstaller first, then webosdoctor.
ACMEUninstaller repartitions the drive and removes android. But webOS doctor doesn't wipe the SD.
ACMEUninstaller will completely remove Android. WebOS doctor will restore the webOS side of your tablet to its original "out of the box" state. Unless your intentions are to brick your device by "wiping" it clean, I would agree with the ACMEUninstaller/webOS doctor method.

I'm confused. Currently, my SD partitions are kinda wacked up because I had alot of stuff on the WebOS side before installing android.
Have Xron on it currently.
Should I use ACMEUninstaller, reinstall Android CM7, then flash CM9 straight over?
Or should I just wipe, then flash CM9 over?

I could be mistaken, but the OP's original question was to basically start from a "clean slate". So we were just saying to use ACMEUninstaller then webOS Doc to achieve that. If you're concerned about the partitions and you don't mind the wipe, then that's what I would do if I were you.
Leo will probably have better input than me, but if I were in your shoes, I would do the ACMEUinstaller on your current version of Android. You don't have to reinstall CM7, just make sure you put the ACMEInstaller2 in the appropriate spot.

How about the SD?/
WebOS and Android use the same partition for SD, which is /media. You can wipe that yourself if you want by just mounting to computer and deleting what's in there. But yea, there are files for both systems in that partition, nothing that will brick you by deleting them though.

Okay so you currently have android installed, and want to upgrade to CM9 but also repair you touchpad. I would recommend the following:
1. run ACMEUninstaller
2. run WebOS doctor
3. delete everything off your /SD card that you don't want/need
4. update to WebOS 3.0.5
5. install CM9/moboot 3.0.5/CWM using ACMEInstaller2

But I still can't access CWM through moboot. I'm doing it manually by pushing the uImage.clockworkmod via novacom to get access and flash zips.
I even tried reinstalling CWM through ACMEInstaller2(flashed CM9 on my touchpad btw)
Can't you just do a full wipe in WebOS and then literally start at a clean slate, i.e. no Android and cleaned SD card?
What you want to do is follow THIS GUIDE HERE. It shows you how to completely remove Android, re-partition the device, and start completely fresh as if you had just opened the box of your brand-new HP Touchpad when it ran 3.0.0. I follow this guide about every 2-3 months just to make sure everything's running clean and good, and I have yet to ever run into problems.
It completely restores it to factory levels - partitions, WebOS 3.0.0, nothing else. It is your go-to guide on what you should do to start fresh.
From there, read the guide on Rootz and install CM9, and then from there, flash whatever ROM you wanna try out and enjoy.
does tptb remove everything.. I want to learn it all.. Im hooked on touchpad is there a way to start over I cant find webos doctor nor much on how to install and run it on touchpad.. Im wanting to start from scratch.. I have been learning so much on here, tried all the roms and aosp as well thanks..

yes Jcsullins TPtoolbox here will remove all the data, including WebOS, when you do a complete data reset.
Recently my tp stopped booting into webos but booted into cyanogenmod fine. Instead of deleting cyanogenmod I booted into webos recovery and doctored it. I now have webos but can anyone help me put moboot back on it and is my android partition still available or do I have to restart the installation process from the beginning.

No just use ACMEInstaller again but only put the moboot.zip into the cminstall folder
Some people lost moboot after upgrading webOS. I would think that if you only have moboot in your cminstall folder that would be the only zip installed by ACMEInstaller or ACMEInstaller2 if going to ICS. Your CM partition should still be there.

This happened to me after a update and my android partition was still there.Just needed moboot.
Currently running 7.0.1 with no way of upgrading.
I will start off by saying that I have tried all of the tricks that others used to successfully get RW on the TP after CM set it to Read Only. and I have gotten nowhere. I have tried running mount(space)-o(space)remount(space)rw(space)/mnt/sdcard (sans spaces) to no avail
I have also tried using ACME uninstaller and that also did not work.
I am to the point where i just want to restore WebOS and start over.
Any advice would be awesome. I am completely stuck. I can also only boot to android through moboot, booting into WebOS doesnt work, just sends me back to moboot.

Then you're leaving out the part about what files you deleted from your storage..
Anyway... run acmeuninstaller and then webosdoctor for 3.0.5

Edit : If moboot allows you to boot into webos recovery you could run webos doctor . See this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244 . It should be the answer to your problems to read before running doctor if you have not removed Android,
I have tried that method as well but my web doctor 3.0.0 stalls out at 8%. I am in the process of trying install the uimage but I am having a hard time locating a working link and cant find it when i look in webdoctor.jar in 7zip.

I've repaired a busted partition that my co-worker had on his Touchpad. Improper eject while USB connected to webOS caused the partition damage. The repair involves using terminal to restore the base partitions and then webOS Doctor 3.0.0 to comb out the initial webOS partition and install. Then webOS Doctor 3.0.5 and onward.
