[Q] Doubts on samsung galaxy tab 10.1 wifi only - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi all,
Any significant difference between the wifi only and wifi+3G? Plan to get a wifi version only soon. A bit worried as Samsung likes to do this, just like the old 7 inch tab and Galaxy S2.
Any wifi only user here can give some opinion? Thanks~

Not sure what you mean. Samsung likes to do what exactly?
I like my wifi only 10.1. I have a 6GB data plan on my Galaxy S2 and can tether all I want. It made sense to use the S2 as a wifi hotspot rather than add an additional device to my mobile plan. Your mileage may vary.

I have 10.1 wifi (GT-P7510) and I love it. My bud has the 3G version and it runs pretty much exactly the same. I like the development for the wifi one better. If I NEED internet on it and I'm not in a wifi area (I usually am), I just tether my phone to get interwebz.

[Q] More roms for the WIFI version then the 3G??

Hello,
I am about to buy myself a SG Tab 10.1 . But wondering if to buy the WIFI version or the 3G.
I know that with wireless tethering and a rooted android phone I can just connect my WIFI Tab aswell.
But beside that I saw that there were custom roms around but many are for "wifi only" .
So is it true that there are almost no custom roms for the 3G version???

Yeah most of us grabbed them when they first came out in July or @ Google I/O, so we only had the wifi edition to choose from.
The 3G version will probably pick up in a couple of months, but I'm thinking the LTE version is the one that will take off, since everyone wants faster interwebs
Alright. Thanks for your answer.
I do hope more will come out for the 3g. I am in Europe so the 4G won't do me any good for the moment.
So now I am doubting what to buy

(Q-View) Exhibit II 4g faster than View?

I bought a Tmobile Samsung Exhibit II 4g so I could connect my View 4G tablet to its mobile hotspot. I was using a prepaid plan so it didn't really work out for me. I was required to purchase an extra $15 mobile hotspot service in order to enable this simple native feature. I know, there's probably an app to bypass this in the Android Market, but I'm sick of researching and failing. So basically I'm returning this kind of neat, somewhat inexpensive phone. During my time with the Exhibit II 4g, I noticed how fast it surfed the internet on WiFi and on 4g. Honestly, it puts my View (hc) to shame. Once you've seen fast, you can't unsee it. Which brings me to my question - Why is my really cool HTC View slower on the internet (using WiFi) than the Samsung Exhibit II 4g? The tablets specs aren't faster than the cheapo phone?

[Q] Anyone here own a Galaxy Nexus?

If you own both the Galaxy Nexus and the tab 10.1 could you answer a quick question?
How does the wifi signal strength compare to the tab 10.1? As far as I can tell, the tab 10.1 has an amazing wifi radio, never had a problem with it. I own a Nexus S and it's terrible, drops signal all the time, have 2 bars out of 3 when I'm in the same room as the router.
Thanks in advance.
Maybe you should try some other modems for your Nexus, can make a big difference.

Using an android phone as a wifi hotspot

Hi,
I'm getting a galaxy s3 very soon and I'm thinking about getting a nexus 7 with it.But as you know, nexus 7 doesn't have 3G so my only option to access network on it when there's no wifi network available is to use my future s3 as a wifi hotspot. So my questions are:
1-Is data consumption when using the phone as a wifi hotspot the same as if I'm normally using 3G on the phone itself ?
2-How long can an android(specifically the S3 if it matters much) act as a wifi hotspot before the battery runs out ?

1. Yes.
data consumption will be sum of what you consume on your phone + on your tablet.
2. Battery life when using Wi-Fi hotspot depends on data activity. During light/no data activity via hotspot, your battery will last longer than heavy data activity.
-I have galaxy SII and I get more than 5 hrs (8hrs max) on the average when using my phone as Wi-Fi hotspot.
Swyped from my Samsung Galaxy SII
Cool,thanks ^^

[Q] AT&T HTC One stock Wi-Fi hotspot really slow

Just got an HTC One on AT&T, and have been trying to get the built in stock hotspot feature to work. I verified I have it in my plan, and I CAN connect to it, but it's SO slow that the Google Play store literally times out. I've connected a Galaxy Note 10, a Galaxy Tab 2 7", and a Nexus 7, and they all do the same thing. SpeedTest shows around 256k while tethered to it, but the One is still pulling down 20Mbps+. I'm at a complete loss. Anyone have any suggestions?
