sms 2 touchpad - TouchPad General

Is there a way to use our touchpads to SMS reply or start new messages? I am aware of desktop SMS but looking for other alternatives. Ideas?

Google Voice. Works great.

Textab wont connect via Bluetooth to my evo 3d. Any suggestions...

Update to 3.0.4, then connect it to your cellphone and if you're lucky it'll support the required protocol to send\receive SMS via bluetooth using the default messaging app.

Working for me on cm 7 alpha 2. Thanks

Textab works for me. The way I got it to work:
1) Install Bluetooth File Transfer
2) Install Textab
3) Turn on airplane mode.
4) Turn on bluetooth and pair devices. It says paired but not connected and won't connect, thats ok.
5) Open and connect through Bluetooth File Transfer. You should now be able to see the contents of the other device.
6) Open and connect through Textab.
I don't know if it will connect through other methods, this is what I did and it worked. After a while my wifi started screwing up and disconnecting (on the touchpad), I just booted into recovery and wiped my dalvik and cache, NOT BEFORE BACKING UP!!, rebooted and all was fine. I however did not reopen bluetooth file transfer after I wiped, still working. I also have left it in airplane mode and have turned on bluetooth and wifi and all still working. 1 observation, pictures and whatnot won't come through, only plain texts. Don't know if its cause its lite version or what??? Another note, sometimes it takes the phone a few trys to connect to the touchpad, touchpad usually doesn't have a problem. IF it won't connect, i'll turn off and back on bluetooth on both devices and it usually does the trick. If not, reboot and try again!
Good Luck!

And don't forget desk sms one of the best imho

Try wifi tether, a quick google will bring up the google code webpage.
Once it is installed go into the settings,
Select the proper device profile,
check Routing Fix.
make sure wifi driver reload is checked.
Sometimes the tethering needs to be fully started, then stopped and then closed. Once you reopen it you should be good to go to connect with your laptop.

This is the exact setup I use, and it works flawlessly. Also, you may try resetting your wireless adapter on your laptop. A lot of the time that can fix limited connectivity errors.
Both of the laptops have windows 7. I just downloaded the wireless tether app from Google code and will try again when I get home tonight. Also how would I go about resetting my wireless adapter?

Alright so set up the suggested settings in the wireless tether app and it ddnt work. I reset my wireless adapter and it still ddnt work. I clicked on diagnose problem and it said that my wireless network connection doesn't have a valid IP connection... I've restarted the app and tried again and reset my adapter multiple times to no avail... is there anything I can do?

So you can tether your xbox wirelessly with the wifi tether app? That means the issue is with your laptop. have you tried another wireless network to see if you can connect to that with your laptop? also have you updated the drivers on the laptop. Also you can try to disable your firewall on the laptop.
Yah everything else connects to my laptop. I even have a Verizon mifi that's works perfectly. And my phone plays nice with everything else. The only thing wrong with with my laptop is that it doesnt wanna tether. Just says what I posted 2 posts above. How would I go about removing the firewall?

On the wifi tether app, under settings, do you have router fix box checked? I believe it needs to be.

Wireless tether worked best for me
I wasnt able to get the WiFi tether working but i was able to get Wireless tether 2.0.7 using the liquid.mecha v3.2 ROM
here is the result
8.92 Mb/s Down and 6.46 Mb/s up
not bad imo

Yah its checked. I'm just gonna assume its my laptop. Does what radio you have have something to do with it? I have the 2.5 radio instead of the 3.0 with my cm7

Wireless tether is known to not play nice with some Intel wireless cards. The only sure-fire way to fix it that I've found is to set a static IP configuration based on what the phone is transmitting. It seems like the wireless card doesn't want to pick up the phone's IP address, so you have to do that manually. Tedious, but effective.
Ok. I'm not very computer savvy so how would I find out what my phones IP address or whatever and how would I manually input into my computer? I do have an Intel wireless adapter.

Bluetooth Auto Connect App

Hello, i use bluetooth for tethering my Prime with my Desire HD because it consumes less battery than using WIFI-Hotspot. The Problem with this was that the Transformer does not automatically connect to the phone when enabling bluetooth.
So i wrote an App that does exactly this. It reacts on the bluetooth_state_change broadcast and then connects to the phone. The App uses some hidden Api-Calls but seems to work well.
Since i don't have a market account yet, i thought it would be a good idea to upload it here. I attached the apk and the source.
Please comment!
EDIT: Seems to work with any bluetooth device, see posts below
EDIT2: This version is outdated. Please search "Bluetooth auto connect" by refluxa in Google play. I can't post any links here yet. Also it only works with Honeycomb or higher.

This is very nice. I tried it and it works perfectly with my GNex, which I've basically been using constantly because wifi sucks. BT tether is the way to go.

Hey thanks. Works great. I use it in combination with bluetooth headset Jabra bt3030. So simple yet so effective.
Maybe you should rename the thread. It's not only good for tethering as you can see
Hi,
sorry for my late answer. Thank you for the comments. I'm glad to hear that it is useful for you, even though i don't know why it works with headsets. I explicitly select the Bluetooth PAN (Personal Area Network) Profile.
Also i registered a developer account now and i think i will publish it there in the next days.
Looks like a very promising app. I tried it, but it crashes periodically on my AT&T Galaxy Note when I turn bluetooth on. Also, the bluetooth connected devices appear disabled - they are a very light color on a white background.
I'd love to help with this, let me know if you need more info or assistance.
Please see updated first post. You will have to wait until Samsung brings your device to ics.
Hello, I have SGS2 with ICS ROM. I have installed Bluetooth Auto Connect from Google Play because my phone doesn't want to connect to my BT car hands free automatically (manual connect always works). The auto connect app shows the name of my hansfree but the selection is unfortunately disabled. Can you please enable also other BT profiles (not only PAN) in your application? It can be very useful for another BT devices too.
Is there any way this app could allow for multiple device selection and have it recognize a "friendly name?" (if you rename the device in your BT panel)
This works great for me in my car to connect my BT, but I have a second transceiver that I use in my house that is identical, so it has the same name, and the software seems to randomly pick one of the two when BT powers up.
Allowing checkboxes for a multiple device selection to start up the BT connections would probably be enough for me, as then "random" will get both every time.
I just updated the app. Now it has support for Tasker / Locale and Multiple Devices!

I just found this great app trough a post on the Tasker forum and installed it immediate.
I noticed that if you manually start the app it will ask you to enable BT, but is you use the Tasker plugin it doesn't enable BT.
Of course you can enable BT using Tasker before using the plugin, it would be nice if the plugin had an optin to enable BT.
Beside that, thanks for this great app/plugin.

Hello,
i will have to ponder on that because tasker / locale developers say that functionality that is already offered by their programs should not be reimplemented in plugins. On the other hand i also see that some users have problems because they do not know that they have to enable bluetooth first. I think i will add a little notice at least.
Have you got a guide (or a link to one) to setup bluetooth tether (HTC One X to Transformer) so I can use this app?
Do you need root on the phone to do it?
Hello, sorry but i just overlooked your post. In general its a good idea to do the whole stuff manually once. First you have to pair your devices and enable bluetooth tethering on the phone (On my non-Sense-Phone: Settings -> More... (in Wireless & Networks Section) -> Tethering and mobile Hotspot). Then on the tablet open the configuration dialog using the button with the three controllers beside the entry of your phone in the bluetooth dialog. Select "use for internet connection". Go back to the previous menu and click on the entry. Now you should be able to use the phones internet connection. This is the point where the apps come into play: The auto tether app enables bluetooth tethering on the phone after reboot (is disabled automatically) and the auto connection app simply initiates the bluetooth connection when enabling bluetooth.
Fantastic app! So useful in conjunction with tasker
I was wondering if there were plans to add a complementary feature: i.e. the possibility to autodisconnect a specific BT device. I'm looking for an app that allows me to do that via tasker to be able to toggle my BT headset connection between my phone and my tablet. I don't think any app can do that yet?
Hello,
it has disconnect functionality now (Version 0.6)!

Hello, thank you for your app.
Unfortunately it crashes to me. I set it up so to connect to a joypad (that is, the iPega controller mentioned here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2033780 ).
When I turn bluetooth on, "unfortunately the application has died unexpectedly".
Just reporting.
Thank you very much

[Q] Bluetooth

Has anyone managed to successfully connect to a mobile phone using bluetooth?. I've tried different phones and always get the "paired but not connected " message.
I was already in my bed but stand up to try it.
With my iPhone 4S iOS 5.1 it doesn't work over Bluetooth. Wifi hotspot works well.
So I think you are right. Get up guys and try it! Which phone works and which not?
iPhone doesn't. Over Bluetooth.
i guess the more pertinent question might be.. What are you trying to do? It will only stay connected to another handset for as long as it needs to be... so unless you're actually trying to actively use a BT connection it won't be connected.
you need to setup/install a BT profile. Check for AirBlue for iPhone.

I can pair devices but that's as far as it goes.If I try to transfer files it just wont connect.
I dont get the question,, Transfer files of using the tablet for sound or something?
For file sharing :
No problem at all first I transferred a picture from phone to tablet and that succeeded then
from tablet to phone also no problem,
Samsung Galaxy SII
But to connect with bluetooth and then Calling or something with the Tab, that just doesn't makes sense.

Same here, couldn't transfer files between my Tablet and ArcS (in either direction). Not much of an issue for me, but it's a shame BT connectivity is broken on the tablet. Here's hoping ICS will fix it
I tried a few transfers and they all worked fine.. From and to xperia s.. But... I also have astro file manager, and it's Bluetooth module..might be worth trying that..

Tethering Windows 7 laptop to Amaze through Bluetooth works

I searched around and tried to find a Bluetooth tethering for my Laptop to my Amaze like the Bluetooth DUN in my previous wm6.5 phone, but no luck. I just figured out that my windows 7 laptop could directly tether to Amaze through Bluetooth. It might not be as fast as "Wi-Fi hotspot", but saves lot of battery of Amaze.
You guys might want to use it. Here is how it works:
1. Pair the Amaze to the windows 7 laptop through Bluetooth.
2. Under "Bluetooth Devices" or "Devices and Printers" in the laptop, it will show the Amaze (there might be a exclamatory mark)
3. Right click the Amaze icon, in the popup window, select the "connect using" and then "Access point"
You laptop is now tethering to the amaze though Bluetooth.
Enjoy.

You don't need the drivers for tethering. I don't have it either.
Are people having problems with WiFi Tether for Root?
Or is there another reason why the TMO/'Stock' tether gets so much attention?

Yes, I have the HTC sync installed, but still no drivers for bluetooth. that's why there is a exclamatory mark on the side of the icon. it works well for bluetooth tethering without asking for the drivers.

The wifi tethering works for me as well. but it drains the battery very fast and the phone is very hot during the wifi tethering. In addition, for the bluetooth tethering, you can fully control the connection on the laptop without even touch the phone. It also supports multiple tethering (tethering a tablet and a laptop to the phone in the same time)

[Q] Can i control my gs3 from pc?

I searched for it but i couldnt find any programs to control my phone from pc via usb cable. Can anybody help me?
Idk about the usb cable thing, but it goes usually through wifi or bluetooth

AirDroid works well for some aspects.
Why do you want to do this? Have you broken your screen or just want to experiment?
AirDroid is nice indeed, to fully control the phone I found TeamViewer better though (they got a specific S3 app to have full control on PC), not sure if it is working via cable, over WiFi it works great.
Teamviewer quick support works great

I text a lot and sometimes i get tired of switching between phone and the pc so i thought it'd be good to control my phone from pc.
I tried AirDroid but it's not what i am looking for.
And I tried teamviewer app but it was so laggy, so i want to control it via usb cable. Bluetooth would be just fine too.
Thanks
Try My Phone Explorer from FJ Software Development, great application, you can do a lot of things from the application as send SMS using your computer, it supports USB connection and also WiFi.
