I searched for it but i couldnt find any programs to control my phone from pc via usb cable. Can anybody help me?
Idk about the usb cable thing, but it goes usually through wifi or bluetooth

AirDroid works well for some aspects.
Why do you want to do this? Have you broken your screen or just want to experiment?
AirDroid is nice indeed, to fully control the phone I found TeamViewer better though (they got a specific S3 app to have full control on PC), not sure if it is working via cable, over WiFi it works great.
Teamviewer quick support works great

I text a lot and sometimes i get tired of switching between phone and the pc so i thought it'd be good to control my phone from pc.
I tried AirDroid but it's not what i am looking for.
And I tried teamviewer app but it was so laggy, so i want to control it via usb cable. Bluetooth would be just fine too.
Thanks
Try My Phone Explorer from FJ Software Development, great application, you can do a lot of things from the application as send SMS using your computer, it supports USB connection and also WiFi.

I am trying to find the best way that I can easily access/stream files from my phone to my tablet.
So far I have tried:
- Bluetooth. Too slow
- Kies. Could not connect the devices together after repeated attempts
The phone has wifi direct, but the tablet does not seem to. What android apps offer the best seamless file sharing? I tried bump, did not like it. I suppose if I had the usb adapter I could connect the phone as a mass storage device, but I don't have the adapter yet and I'd like to keep it wireless anyhow.

Websharing is my favorite

Have you tried DropBox? It works great between the home computer, phone and tablet.
'swiFTP FTP Server' to create a local server. use 'andFTP' to connect to that server. both free in the android market
Is it possible to stream with andftp?
I can't see how in the free version but maybe pro does??

I'm a big fan of sugar sync, as you can see from my signature. Just like dropbox, but has more free space and no cap if you get more people referred
i tried it with Samba Filesharing. I was able to find my phone but wasnt able to connect to it. Did it while in Hotspot mode on my phone.

Hi all,
Is it possible to share my PC or Laptop's current internet connection with my Galaxy S 2? What I mean by that is I want to be able to plug in my phone to my laptop via usb, and use the PC's internet instead of using my 3G data.
This is separate to things like making the laptop or pc broadcast its connection via wifi, I'm only talking about sharing the connection via usb. Is it possible? Even if it means flashing a certain ROM?
That is a htc sense only feature afaik

That link is apparently only for Android 2.2, and it was written in 2010.
Is there no other way, no app or anything I can download to make this work? Surely the functionality is there...? Any particular ROM that can do this even?
I too am very interested in this feature. I actually asked the same question before:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1238358
But I got rubbished by some stuck up prick...
Very useful app for people with no mobile data plans and no wifi available but got unlimited bandwidth on pc,like me
Now no more hassle with reverse tethering, just a few simple clicks and we are done.Thought to share this since it works good on my Neo V
ReverseTether allows you to access your computer's internet connection on your device via USB, thus, reverse tethering. It's the first and only app of its kind on the Market, no other app does such a thing.
This app may be useful for you if:
- if you don't have a mobile data plan.
- if you have a limited plan and would like to spare your bytes and money whenever you're at home/work/school.
- if you're roaming and would like to avoid roaming data charges.
- if you prefer speed and want an internet that is faster* than any wifi/3g/4g/lte. (*as fast as your modem)
- if you don't have access to wifi / don't need wifi just for your device.
- if you don't trust the security/privacy of your wifi network.
- if your wifi connection is weak, slow or keeps disconnecting.
- if you're sick of eating terrible food at burger places just for wifi access.
- if you would like to access your local network from your device for backups or storage.
Basically, since you're already connected to usb to recharge or sync, why not also have a super fast, unlimited, secure internet connection for no additional charges, for whatever reason, like sync your mail, contacts or calendars, download and update apps, pre-cache maps, use online-only apps/games, etc...
Key features:
- You'll be able to connect to the internet via USB with a single click. No advanced skills required whatsoever.
- The connection will appear on your device as 3G so that all apps including Market function seamlessly as if you're actually connected to 3G.
- It will first guide you in 2 easy steps to setup your computer for it to work.
- No pc-side software installation is needed at all.
- It provides an option to automatically connect as soon as you plug in USB.
- To disconnect, simply unplug USB. To connect again, plug back USB. Voila. Easy.
- A manual configuration option is also available for advanced users.
This app requires:
- A ROOTED android device
- A Tether option in your device.
- A desktop/laptop computer with your device drivers installed (and ability to edit Network Connections, no extra software needed)
- An internet connection
- Patience - a connection may take a few seconds to a few minutes to get established, since there's no direct way to do it but through this trick.
All app permissions are only needed to establish the connection.
Limitations:
This is a functional trial app that never expires. The one limitation is that you can only connect to the internet in the afternoon and in the late evening, but you can stay online for as long as you want. If you enjoy it please consider purchasing the non-limited version of ReverseTether also available here on Market.

For starters I don't own a laptop because I don't need one(for designing, gaming laptops are not powerful enough and powerful enough ones cost too much),but I got a good desktop pc.And here most doesn't have wifi cos non of isp's are providing good wifi service, hsdpa & adsl is more popular in my country. So I don't have a router with wifi support.
This app is more suited for people with those conditions mate
Tho I find 5$ for this app is little over prized

well, if you have wifi on the computer then the link i provided to virual router is the perfect solution to this problem. (and free and no resrictions)
For those that explained to me that this app is useful for those without wifi on their computer, can you think of another way other than usb cable to connect the phone to the computer.
(Bluetooth is the only thing that springs to mind, but that is so awful i would rafther be tied to the computer with a usb cable than deal with crappy bluetooth)

For one, it is an excellent way to download large game's data or other large files as it is far more reliable and faster way than using wifi.
So please stop being such shortsighted by telling people here what's good or bad for them just because you can't seems to see what can be done by using this app.
Thank you sir.

Amen to that, its just some people don't get something that is not useful to them can be useful to someone else and ***** about it
At home I have a Wi-fi connection, but at work I don't have so this app is very useful.
Thanks.
Probably this is in my top 5 apps. However it's not working in ICS for me..
Have you tested AirDroid? I am in disbelief of what it can do. I think seeing is believing and suggest everyone have a look.

It's one of my must-have apps. Along with Unified Remote & TeamViewer. You might also want to check them out.
Tried it. It's a really cool idea, but ultimatively not useful to me. I realized that after I had it installed for a few days and, apart from the initial setup and testing, never reached for it.

Very nice app but it needs WiFi.
I'm usual to leave my Atrix in charge (via USB cable) during work but AirDroid needs always WiFi connection even if I'm already connected with cable.
I've used ADB.EXE (from Android SDK) to forward connection from PC-Host and Atrix-Android...in this way I can connect to AirDroid via "127.0.0.1ort" but if I shutdown WiFi the app closes all inbound connection EVEN localhost via USB cable!!! So I must leave WiFi connected all the day to use AirDroid.
Bad thing....
This is a network app, and it works exactly as intended. No point in complaining about something the app was never intended to do.

Well, if it didn't need WiFi, it wouldn't be called AirDroid now, would it? CableDroid, perhaps? Or maybe TetherDroid?

LOL
Even our Atrix was released with Froyo and after this with Gingerbread, but most of ppl wants to have ICS on a custom ROM.
So your argument is superfluous: most of ppl uses something in a way it wasn't intended to one similar use.

If you can make something work in a way it was not intended to work, that's cool, good for you. But don't expect it and don't complain if it doesn't happen. That is all.
Hi all,
Just bought my Nokia 8 the other day. Got it for AUD$499! from Harvey Norman - who was out of stock - but price matched by JB Hi-fi.
I was using a Samsung Note 4, which was doggone slow. Might be resetting that one and putting it up for sale - any potential takers?
My Note 4 used SideSync, which connected to by PC via USB cable. Sidesynced allowed me to see and control my Note4 on my PC. I can do everything on the phone from my PC - I liked sending texts and SMS for example.
There doesn't appear to be an equivalent for the Nokia 8. I have seen alot of mirroring apps that require screen casting, but none which allows connection via USB.
The question - what is the equivalent out there to SideSync (which is only compatible with Samsung phones. I've tried it and it does not work). I've enabled USB debugging. The Nokia 8 says SideSync keeps closing. I can see the phone from my PC as it's connected by USB - so I can see the files on the phone from my PC - but cannot see the phone's screen or do anything to the phone.
Thanks all.
Hi,
You could try AirDroid if you know, which it gives you the option to control the phone and send texts and many other things. The only thing which i don't know if it suits you, is that it syncs through the wifi network... You connect the phone to your wifi network, and from your pc you go to a link that the app gives you and scan the QR code and thats it...
Try it maybe it will do the job for you.

Thank you for responding. I really want a USB connection to the PC as going over the air through my companies WiFi I am sure will slow things down. I have looked at Apowermirror and they want you to pay to use it and it's UI is a bit clunky. There's also Wondershare Go, but there doesn't seem to be an app on the playstore for screen mirroring, though I did do this with my Note 4.
MyPhoneExplorer
Hello, give a try to My Phone Explorer. It's free and very straight forward I think. I used it without issues.
If you Google it you'll find a link from fjsoft, that's the right one.
Good luck.
Hello, i use Vyzor to cast the screen of my N8 on my PC by using the usb connection.
The application can be used as free but if you need some quality you will need the paid version.
