The Flyer is actually my 2nd, Xoom was the 1st (both Wi-Fi only). I really like the Xoom, but what attracted me to the Flyer was the pen and how HTC integrated that functionality. I really can use this for work, taking notes for various things, and something smaller than the Xoom to hold in one hand. I may sell my Xoom, but the $200 price drop was attractive too.
Since I do IT for a living, knowing me I'll keep both!
HTC Jetstream. I really only buy HTC mobile devices, and its been that way for years now. A bigger screen would be nice for browsing and watching video while on the couch. But really, the Flyer is just right for me 90% of the time, and the portability of a 7" tablet is really nice.
i would love a $99 HP Touchpad... that bad boy will fly once it get Ice Cream.

Fire is very interesting if you don't have a tablet. But aside from some cool-sounding Amazon integration, I wouldn't consider it a good choice for a 2nd tablet alongside the Flyer. Same 7" size, no cameras, and its reported to be a slightly updated version of the RIM Playbook hardware, running Android. None of that sounds very good if you already have a Flyer. Amazon is rumored to be coming out with a "better" tablet in a larger size early 2012. The Fire is reported to be just a rush job, in order for Amazon to have a cheap tablet on the market for holiday season.
Just got the flyer as a replacement for my color nook. I also have a iPad 1 which is my main tablet and also a transformer. I would reccomend waiting until end of the year until the new Kal-el chips come out.
Either the Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 or the ASUS slider. Both look really neat. Were I to get a second tablet it would be a 10" device. The Sony tablet that's shaped like a folded over magazine and runs PS1 games looks interesting as well.

Just picked up a 32gb touchpad the other day off of eBay. Pretty sweet the webos is nice. Can't wait for CM's port of android. If I bought one with android native I would want a 10 inch htc device or a a tab.

I have the Thrive for connectivity and bigger display and the Flyer for "totability".
The Flyer performs better for all functions compared to my Droid 3 and Thrive. Even high def Flash plays better and does not run as warm as those devices.
$300 plus Flyer equals great consumer option.

waiting for the samsung notes... 5" with a lighter weight would be better than flyer, although i like HTC more.

I made some comments on the Fire previously on this thread. But now I'm also reading that the OS will be locked down to only allow apps from the Amazon Market, and not the Google Android Market. And no Netflix. The following article is speculating that the Fire will be as closed an ecosystem as the iPad.

Pre-order numbers are very good, indicating this will be a popular tablet, and probably a healthy dev community. So the Fire will likely get rooted and have custom ROMs to overcome these limitations. But out-of-the-box, this device looks too limited.

I too am looking longingly at the thrive... The transformer interest me because of the snap on snap off keyboard. But I am not sure I could tolerate something that didn't perform as well as my flyer. The 10"!htc looks interesting but I am not sure it is worth the price. For that much money I could get a ipad. I think waiting to see what the new chip sets bring is a good idea but I need a new toy for Christmas or maybe even Thanksgiving.

I have xoom wifi and thinking about the flyer for the same exact reason. I like the pen and software associated with it.
I like this on an acidemic level and a stylistic/artistic level
Good day all. I'm a Best Buy Silver member and have 45 day returns on merchandise. Anyways I picked up the Flyer a week ago and compared to the other tabs I have owned or own (Asus, Acer A500 and A100, HP Touchpad) this is the best in terms of overall functions. Another reason why I say that is because 10 inch tabs are over-the-top; especially if they don't have any ports (that's why I kept the Acer A500). I find 7-9 inchers are more usable. This Flyer is smooth and functions properly unlike most of the Honeycomb tabs. My only concern is will HTC update this beautiful beast? So I'm posing the question to the community of whether to ditch the Flyer or wait it out. Also any input or thoughts about the Samsung 7.0 Plus and if its worth the extra $100 are appreciated
I wish HTC would say something offical and it will make my decision clear.

The Sammy 7plus will have a TFT LCD screen (like Acer A100) not the Super AMOLED or IPS. That should give a pretty poor viewing angle, not up to Sams usual standards and thus much cheaper to build. On the other hand, Sammy has been promising lots of software updates lately.

Yea this tablet game is crazy. Sometimes I wish I would have been simple and gotten an iPad. Android is getting ridiculous. Anyways the inferred remote, updates, and Samsung usually has a decent amount of accessories is what's keeping me interested. I just have a bad feeling that the flyer is dead.

its maddening. HTC built an almost perfect tablet in the FLyer and then overpriced it at introduction and has failed to support it properly now. Makes me wonder if they are exiting the tablet market.
I too am starting to think HTC is calling it quits. Xoom 2 8.2inch where art thou. I would skip the samsung and wait for that. Much like the original xoom it will be nexus like and will get the most recent updates straight from Google. I miss my original xoom but it was just too darn large.

I think the Xoom 2 is a 8.2. I perfer the 7 inch, because I played with the Samsung 8 inch but it is tad big. I'm looking for something I can whip out in public and not look ridiculous. I think the Xoom will cost $545 though, didn't they learn anything?

Ack, I'm conflicted on where to jump into the tablet market. Granted an IPad would play VERY nicely w/my work MacBook & make life a bit easier, HOWEVER, it's large ~sigh~
Looked at the Xoom the other day and, yeah, too big to tote around comfortably so I started leaning toward the Flyer (I'm a huge HTC fan, love rooting my TBolt & Eris prior to that) but it seems like a lot of owners feel disappointed in HTC's (lack of) support for the device.
Maybe they'll go on a sub $200 fire sale if they announce 'no more'
I'm not sure what to get - but I do know that I want the ability to add storage, ie SD, etc., probably want a 7-8" screen with 9-10" being too large and I'd like it to have a good developer base behind it so I can root away and stay the flash addict that I am. Oh and I'd like the screen to be kind on the eyes for book reading & readable outdoors (so that means I need the AMOLED screen I believe?). I also like the $300 price point of this.

Acer A500 and Nexus S. I do agree the 10 inch ones are to large for daily use especially in public. At they are cool bit I need something portable.

Thank you, but the Nexus S is a phone, isn't it? And, yeah the 10" tab is going to be too large.
I'll have to get to Best Buy and see if they at least have an HTC Flyer on display that I can fiddle with.
I'm trying to make pretty much the same decision. I would rather not be left without an update to ICS. Other than that, the Flyer is looking pretty good. I like the design of it over the Galaxy Tab (though its design isn't horrible either), and it certainly felt snappy enough during my brief use of it in the store. The Tab is $100 more, and I doubt it will drop in the near future (i.e. before the end of the year), since it's a brand new product and Samsung would have a bunch of pissed off early-adopters on their hands. The Flyer, on the other hand, stands to drop in price again, since it's relatively old.
I was also considering the original Galaxy Tab because of the GSM capabilities (would be nice to throw in a pre-paid SIM card just in case), but Samsung failed to include it in the list of devices they're going to upgrade to ICS, and it felt just a tiny bit slow in the store, at least compared to the Flyer.
I am waiting for the day that Asus releases a 7 inch tablet. If they ever do, I will buy it and never look back. They release products that have top notch hardware and the best software and update support in my opinion. If only the transformer or transformer prime were a bit smaller, then they would be perfect for what I want.

They are ok. I have owned 2 Transformers and the build quality was not there. From the hollow back, light bleed, and cracking speakers. That's how I ended up with the Acer is was just solid.

TBH... The Flyer is slow compared to the new Dual Core tablets. however... for 300$ + the added pen functionality it's worth it.
My screen also has a yellow tint... Is that the same as every1 Else's?

The screen should not be yellow.
Actually at 1.5ghz the flyer is faster in most cases than any tablet out there. Dual core doesn't get you more usable speed in almost every case because few if any apps are designed in a way that can make use of the dual cores and Android only lets one app be foreground at a time. So most of the time a dual core is only using one and its slower than the Flyer.

Black Friday will probably yield some good deals, so I'm at least hanging tight for that pricing to come out before jumping on anything - and I think I'm going to sell my Ipod Touch, latest gen, NEVER use it.

I have the flyer and I love it! It's built super solid, its very fast, and I love how it scales apps in contrast to how to Galaxy tab did. On a 7" device I would end up using more phone apps then tablet apps anyway, so I don't care about honeycomb. I love my Flyer! The only thing that may replace it is the Galaxy Note...but then again I may still keep it since its really not worth it to only get $200 used for it. Hell, I'd keep it for that just to lend out or use it as a dedicated clock!
I used to be a active user here on XDA when Wondows mobile was the "cool" Mobile OS. Then I bought a iPod Touch when my father bought into the iPhone 3G. I got sucked into Apple with the 3GS, then the 4. I bought a 64gb 3g iPad when it came out, as well...but then I bought a ATT 3g Galaxy Tab refurbished just to try out android....and fell in love.(it made me feel like I used to with windows mobile...the customization) I kept the TAB for a few months then decided to sell both my iPad and my Tab and buy a iPad wifi for cheap, and a Flyer. I canceled my contract and used my unlimited ipad SIM in my Jailbroken iPhone 4....Loving life($30 a month is my only phone bill!)! That iPhone may be downgraded to a mp3 player though....since I am eye balling the Galaxy Note now.

The WiFi version is $300 on Amazon. But yes, the GSM one that I want is still pretty pricey. If I got the original Tab, though, I'd just pick it up from eBay or the forums or something. Or, maybe it will be on sale during Black Friday, since any retailers that still have them need to clear their inventory to make room for the Plus.
This is a hard decision, to be honest. After doing some more research on the Flyer, it seems that the easiest one to acquire in the States (the WiFi one from Best Buy), is also the one that throws up hurdles for modders, such as the inability to go back to stock from a custom ROM.
Now I'm kind of back at square one, debating between the original Tab, the Tab Plus, the Flyer, the IdeaPad A1, and pending more details and reviews, the Huawei MediaPad.
Five months on from buying this machine, I am still majorly impressed and excited by it. I don't think there is a better 7 inch device out there for user experience. I have spent hours checking out other tablets - particularly Samsung 7.7, 7 plus (owned), Sony S (own) and IPad and I always come back to this beast.
Was hesitant to switch to Honeycomb, but now, no regrets. Minimal / no freezes, great display, very user friendly keyboard and editing, unrivalled animation, fast, top design (consider the placement of volume to power buttons on this, compared to samsung's awkward button positioning) and great sound. Forgot to mention, the price is now irresistible. The only issue is the damn battery.
For me, the Flyer is a hit, big time. Interested to know what other long term users think...

I absolutely loooooove my flyer . I got the best buy wifi version when it first came out. And even though i may have over-payed for it i still love it. Really the n-trig feature is what set this apart from all of the other tablets. Without this feature i really couldn't justify this purchase to my wife (she figured it was just another gadget that i wanted). Then after i got it my wife fell in love with the functionality of it and got one herself. Then after that i had at least ten to fifteen coworkers and friends who purchased the flyer/view (even converted some from the dreaded Ipad). However, only one of them actually makes use of XDA and i highly doubt any of them makes use of or cherishes their tablet as much as i do). I know there are those that don't prefer honeycomb but when I switched to it (many thanks to Globatron) to me it opened up even that much more functionality of the tablet (I don't really play games on it). i I also like the current development that has been going on (really looking forward to ICS). Even though I continue to research the upcoming tablets (after all I am still a gadget guy) i don't see myself replacing my flyer any time soon. The only thing I may be interested in is the Galaxy Note due to it being a phone and only as a supplement to my flyer not as a replacement (i really don't want anything over the seven inch form factor). So to summarize as far as i am concern and for my purposes NOTHING BEATS THE FLYER.
If you can buy something like this and still love it five months on then it really says something, prices are going down so quick and devices getting faster/smaller.
Personally I bought mine when the UK price went down to £230, half-price, and I still love it, would be great if it were thinner & therefore lighter - I'll keep it for the next 18 months and then swap out. In this world today keeping such a gadget for about 2 years is a major success.
Versus an ipad2, ignoring cost, do I still think the Flyer is the better choice? The Flyer wins because of the pen - for me both devices are great for movies and games, but when it comes to making quick sketches in meetings Flyer wins hands-down, those "capacitive pens" I see people using with the ipad are a complete joke.
I am happy with my flyer, but maybe not so much with htc. 6 months into having the device I still enjoy it and have avoided any other device purchases since. htc and their failure to market/support the device would probably prevent me from ever buying one of their devices again. If I had paid full price for my flyer I probably would be pissed.

I guess I didn't pay full price either, that's probably why I think this is such a great bargain for all that it does. I cannot believe I forgot to mention how good the pen was! I have the Galaxy Note too. However, for annotation and document highlighting, I only use the flyer. I agree though, that HTC could pull their finger out in terms of support for what is still a relatively new device.

I just bought a Transformer TF300, so that means I'll probably be using my Flyer a bit less when I'm at home. But the Flyer goes with me everywhere, so she'll still see lots of love (at work, for instance).
At any rate, after 9 months of ownership I still think it's a fabulous device, and am still very impressed with the build quality. No regrets and no immediate plans to upgrade to a newer, faster 7" tablet. Yeah, the day will come, but I'm on no hurry.
i've had it since january, and i still love it. use it almost daily, get great battery life out of it, and i love using the pen to take notes instead of misplacing a bunch of little sticky notes!
A few months ago I sold a 7" 64GB Playbook (for a profit) and bought a used 32GB 3G Flyer.
My personal experience is that the Playbook is very good for watching movies. Linking the Playbook to an TV with an HDMI port was also straight forward (just plug it in) so a great media device.
However, I needed a device that had 3G and turn by turn navigation. The Playbook did not provide either of these so I bought the Flyer.
I then found out the the GPS signal on the Flyer looses lock and it cannot find my bluetooth GPS module. Therefore, it does not fulfill one of my principle requirement. Also getting the Flyer to display a movie on a TV is a real pain compared to the Playbook. So for displaying to a TV, the Playbook is better.
The pen on the Flyer is a huge hit with my young daughter. It will keep her happy for hours on a long trip.
So my conclusion
I like the Flyer, it is well made, has a good screen and a good size. Overall I prefer it to the Playbook.
But it is not perfect.
Had mine for about 8 months now or so. Generally very happy with it.
Certainly 7" is the size for me. 10" is a housebound form factor as far as I'm concerned, watching people trying to watch their iPad while standing on the tube or train is amusing.
That said, I thought Sense for Honeycomb was poor. I went back to Gingerbread, tho I noticed that there are several ICS ports around so I may try one of those.
I also feel like the scene is moving so fast that devices generally have really short lifespans at the moment, in terms of official and community support. We might see 2 more Android versions by the time the device starts getting out of date in terms of tech - I doubt they're gonna come to the Flyer, which means apps and services might not be available for an otherwise viable device.
All in all tho, well worth the investment.
I think I would of gotten the galaxy tab 7.0 plus if i had to do it again. I wanted a honeycomb tablet for around $200 to $300 and i saw the flyer had good specs and honeycomb and went for it. Didn't realize how much the honeycomb update ruins the thing. Now I'm back on gingerbread and while it runs alot better, gingerbread just isn't meant for tablets.

The main problem i see is with software support. HTC really dropped the ball by releasing a beta version of HC as the official update. I call it beta due to the gps bug...
If I had to do it over again, I'd have a Samsung or acer 7" tab instead. ICS isn't necessary, just something that works as intended.

People say it's just business and I understand not giving us ics because of cost but leaving our tabs in the shape they are is just unacceptable. No reason why they can't just patch honeycomb imo. Personally they better just stay out of the tablet market from now on because I can't speak for everyone but I wouldn't buy another htc tablet!

In the 7 inch market,,the flyer definitely rocks! I had been researching various tablets prior to the flyer's release and had all ready decided it was the one I wanted.
I had been a fan of HTC products for awhile. Their devices are solid and built to last. After owning a flyer for over a year it still works and feels like new. Nothing rattles or is loose in any way.
The processor isn't the fastest but still works great. For me the major selling points where the large capacity battery (4000 mAh) and the scribe pen.
My line of work invloves a lot of handwritten notes and sketches. Nothing even comes close to the flyer.
In addition the size of the flyer is extremely portable and can go with me anywhere. I wish HTC had better support of their tablets, that's my only gripe. Fortunately developers on xda will always find a way.

I had been a fan of HTC products for awhile. Their devices are solid and built to last. After owning a flyer for over a year it still works and feels like new. Nothing rattles or is loose in any way.
The processor isn't the fastest but still works great. For me the major selling points where the large capacity battery (4000 mAh) and the scribe pen.
My line of work invloves a lot of handwritten notes and sketches. Nothing even comes close to the flyer.

Overriding theme seems to be that this is a fantastic tablet, with good durability. However, HTC support (or lack of it) leaves a bitter taste

This is my feelings. Like the product but the company appears to not have a clue
That's really my thoughts. It's an excellent tablet and honestly its perfect on gingerbread, but to get the extra features honeycomb brings your sacrificing usability and stability. HTC left it in a bad place and wants to pretend it never existed. And now they are banking their whole future on the one series, and already hearing things about it like screwed up multitasking, battery life issues etc. And beats audio... Who cares really? My phone has it and its alot of money spent for an autotuned equalizer setting that only works with wired headphones, which does me no good anyway because I'm using a stereo bluetooth headset. HTC is clueless. They can yield good quality products but they can't support them to save their lives. And the flyer was purely a victim to bad marketing.

I love it . I have several tablets and this View works great for me. I use the pen and lecture notes all day long and have the sprint $20 plan when I an not near wifi. I also use google voice so I can have the tablet be a phone too which works great on the plane too.
I can't imagine what features I would want that I don't have with the View.
I am excited about the windows 8 tablets but until then I am good to go. I actually bought two Views...one for backup.

People say it's just business and I understand not giving us ics because of cost but leaving our tabs in the shape they are is just unacceptable. No reason why they can't just patch honeycomb imo. Personally they better just stay out of the tablet market from now on because I can't speak for everyone but I wouldn't buy another htc tablet!

I think HTC would respond better for a GPS fix in honeycomb rather than everyone begging for ICS because that just won't happen from HTC.
A new HTC tablet is comming to the UK. I hope it is gonna be a 7 inch with stylus. That is the size I need.

I came here to pretty much say the same thing. HTC's lack of decent support for tablets has turned me off to their future offerings until they get their act together. They also dropped the ball on my Evo 3D which is another sore subject. lol.

After miserable failures on the Flyer and Jet Stream (I own a Flyer) which were good hardware but failed due to extreme high price and lack of software updates, I doubt HTC can make any headway. I expect this new tablet will be priced at about $600 if HTC history has any bearing

2 MP camera sounds more like in a budget tablet. $600 will be too high for a budget tablet. Tablet market is very competitive. Very nice wifi only tablets are coming for $ 100 nowadays with ics on them. So $ 350 approx seems to be a good price for competition.
Edit: didn't read the op link. Seems tegra 3 quad core with 10 inch display and other features may spoil its pricing.

I was excited till I read it was 10 inch I really think 7 is the idea size. At 10 inches you might as well grab a laptop because portability has gone to hell at that point.
I tend to think HTC will do a better job with this tablet though. I think it'll be priced modestly between $300 to $350, and marketed very well too. All and all for what its worth, they made an excellent tabs with the Flyer, View, and Jetstream, but poor marketing and high tags killed all 3, and I got no hard feelings. The Flyer is a failed product, *****ing about no more updates is like buying a Sega Dreamcast and *****ing about no new games coming out for it.
Here's my vision for the perfect HTC tab, same shape and design as the flyer, but with a one x type paint job, and poly carbonate shell instead of aluminum for a better grip, less weight, and reduced cost. Hardware keys just like the Flyer, but updated with the new layout, which would work wonders with the new tablet ui on Jellybean. A Sense 4 launcher that can rotate to landscape, and of course tegra 3 internals, and maybe the same front and rear cameras that are on the flyer, but they could do away with the 2 "grips" on the sides of the flyer, and just have a solid back, and a straight port for the SD slot.
I'd definitely be ineterested in a 7" Tegra 3 Flyer running Jellybean. If it came with an sdCard slot and I could reuse my ntrig pen, I'd even spend $50.00 to $100.00 more than an equivalent Nexus 7.
I've had my Flyer for nearly a year and it's been great that whole time. I'll keep using it for some time to come, too. But at some point I'm going to want something faster.

In 10" segment they will compete with Transformer and Transformer Prime with the same or better specs. If they add pen input, they will compete with Lenovo Tablet (dual core), which already fallen in price and will go down even more. And all compete with iPad and upcoming Microsoft Surface.

I think all Android tablets should probably be focused on 7 inch size and $300 price tag because the ipad is an unstoppable force and starts at $400. Apple supposedly is making ipad minis but I'll believe it when I see it. Steve Jobs openly ripped on the 7 inch size calling it a "tweener" size that's too small to be useful for a tablet and too large for a phone. So in other words 7 inch tabs offer something apple doesn't provide. Asus has had moderate success at competing against the ipad in the 10 inch category but I'm certain it's very little and hell a judge in Europe just threw out an injuction from apple against Samsung over the galaxy Tab 10.1 stating no one would confuse the product's because they tab simply isn't as cool as an ipad. At this point in time the 10 inch tablet market is lost to apple.
However starting with supercharged pseudo e reader tablets such as the Nook Color and Kindle Fire, the 7 inch wallet friendly android tablet has taken off like a rocket. Pre sales for the Nexus 7 are going fast and the hype machine is unstoppable. HTC should totally get in on this and ignore the 10 inch tablet market.

Too little too late for HTC. They don;t have a niche to go for with Samsung going after the stylus tabs and Google leading the fold in 7 inch pricing and the Ipad mini coming in Oct. HTC is look like RIM these days. And HTC is never going to approach the $250 range for a tablet because there is no profit in it at that price and no Google subsidy to offset the cost like the Asus Nexus 7.
Actually, manufacturing tablets is not as profitable as manufacturing phones for any company. 4.1-4.5 inches Phones like HTC one x, galaxy s2 and s3 etc. are selling for about 600$. While 7 inches HTC flyer with phone functionality and 7 inches Samsung galaxy tab 2 etc are selling for $350-400. Even 10 inches apple ipad sells for much less than much smaller iPhone. ( I know some money goes in certification, but still a lot of profit in phones)
Phones are there cash cows and tablets are just to be present there in that segment.

I don't know if you have heard of an OS called Jelly Bean? It is Android's latest OS. It's it's updated from last year's ICS OS. Maybe I'm confused, but logic dictates that an OS released after a previous OS would make the previous OS outdated.
The same way HTC shipped the Flyer with GB when tablets were already running Honeycomb.

Personally, I got the Flyer just at the end of August and enjoying using it since day 1. Liked the experience on Gingerbread, but now I realize how much better it is on Honeycomb (and soon it may get better thanks to ROM cookers and Jelly Bean), and I if someone would offer me to get any new tablet that is currently on the market - I certainly wouldn't rush to the nearest tech store, and I'm considering keeping the Flyer for a coming year/year and a half (maybe less, don't know yet). If I am to get a new tablet - it would probably be N7 or some of the medium-end/high-end Acer 10" tablets. Samsung is simply not my choice at all.
If there was any hope of getting ICS or Jellybean on the Flyer/View in the foreseeable future I'd stick with my View, but that doesn't seem too likely. I've got my eye on the Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.
I'm kinda curious about the iPad mini that may be coming out in October. If its good and competitively priced for a 7", I might consider it just for the support and updates. I became fatigued with the anticipation, worry, and letdown that is HTC. I still can't play videos from AOL homepage and the HuffingtonPost website basically freezes my tablet- I had to learn what websites I can and can't use with my View HC. I just want my stuff to work, that's all I ask- especially when all I'm doing is surfing the internet. If apple really listened and shrunk the iPad to a more convenient size, I will reward them with my money. Now, if they would just team up with wacom for the perfect stylus. I initially overlooked apple because it couldn't play flash videos, but now that apparently flash is being phased out and apple products can play most internet videos and content, I'm willing to consider their products again.
The flyer serves my needs but my experience with it will keep me from buying from HTC again

Jumped on an Acer A500 on Redtag.com that works fairly well for sub-$200 (refurbed). It's not my daily tool though; the Flyer still rarely leaves my side. But for multi-media/light gaming needs, the A500 is doing nicely. But I won't take a 10" tablet on public transporation in the city; that's asking to become a statistic (IMO).
The 7" is still perfect for ebook reading, keeping up on emails and social networks, and not only is it 3G, I can tether it to my phone for 4G connectivity.
I think and option is missing from the poll; "Getting a new one to work alongside the Flyer."

The flyer really suits my needs, small Tab with pen. But Honeycomb is full of issues. And the other problem is, I can't afford to buy every year a US$500 tablet. And even now after HTC "broke" it, the resell prices are also bad for the Flyer.
Well I can't remember ever felt such a disappointment with a company so, I'm going to avoid HTC. Also the people next to me,
In future I'm just going to buy Nexus devices, I think they offered the best customer experience

The coolest thing about this tablet is the full-sized USB port on the side that pushes enough juice to power a 2.5" SATA drive. It's an older processor, but ICS works nicely.
The bottom line is to get a new tablet you don't need to buy new to get decent performance, nor do you need to buy every year.

How about A510?
They didn't have any A510 at the time, though it's this year's model, so probably not a lot on the refurbed market yet.
I have not been been looking for a new tablet. However, if Google releases a 32gb nexus 7 for $250, i will probably go for it.
PS They might also also be releasing a 4G version at the end of October.

Well my brother has a nexus 7, i tried it and its awesome!!!
But i can do everything i need to do with my flyer. of course flyer can be better, hope for a new update from htc (yeah no ics, but didnt they say they still gonna give support? dunno how , just hoping) or a good custom rom ics/jb.
im not aware of the tablets these days, except for the nexus.
next tablet? dont know. gonna fly till it dies haha.
would be nice if in the future there will be a nexus with pen functions like flyer.

The HTC experiense was bad for me.Being used to the OTA updates on my nexus s.
Already sold the Flyer for 150 euro and bought the Nexus 7. I will surely get the OTA for the next 2 years. No need for rooting,

Yeah $329 was quite disappointing. No way I can justify it when the wifi only model is that expensive. I'll probably look into the nexus 7. Although, I started using an internet browser app that has given my View 4g hope. It's called Puffin and its pretty fast and plays all the flash I throw at it. Another plus for the View 4g is that I can use the Sprint Zone app and purchase the no contract/commitment data plan- hopefully that's just like prepaid. As for the nexus 7, I was disappointed that it doesn't natively support flash, have a microSD card slot, or have HDMI out. But it's still a great tablet, especially if they sell it for $99 for an 8gb model.
I just bought a galaxy note 2 to replace my galaxy nexus and it looks like it will replace my HTC flyer too. It does have a smaller screen but it is much more friendly and has a few more features that the flyer does not.
