There is no way to start any work on ICS, as the source code isn't released yet. I think there aren't any phones using it in the market yet.
Ics will not work on older devices like our mini pros and mini, FXP says this on his topic.

No way! People tends to mistake SDK with AOSP Code source... is not the same...
SDK are compiled libraries that allow you to create applications for Android ... AOSP Source code is the source code of Android itself.
For now, the only thing released is the SDK, which includes a COMPILED ROM of Android 4.0 for the emulator included... but that won't let developers work on any version because they need Android source code (AOSP) to integrate X10 Mini drivers and compile it in a ROM.
SO, NO, FOR NOW THERE WON'T BE ICS FOR X10 TILL GOOGLE RELEASES AOSP ANDROID SOURCE CODE ...
Cheers!
PS: Check it here, official AOSP page, no mention on ICS .. only Android 2.3 source code is published.
http://source.android.com/index.html
So u mean its impossible to port for our minis ..

The best you can get at the moment is to install a CM7.1 (gingerbread) based rom (e.g. GingerDX) and theme/skin it
I've started an ICS-ification thread here, which I'll try and keep updated if anyone manages to get any other ICS apps running under GB. As far as the look goes it gives a nice refresh:

I've spent a good amount of time searching and couldn't find an answer.
I follow Vibrant development for a friend and I've always wondered why the custom kernels always seem to use an older version of the linux kernel (2.6.32.9).
For N1's our custom kernels always got updated when a new version of the linux kernel comes out. Right now I'm at 2.6.37.2.
I thought it might be a source code thing but then that got released. Then I noticed in the Vibrant CM7 thead they run 2.6.35.7.

Why don't these linux kernel updates make it into the custom kernels? There are lots of improvements. Or am I just wrong?
We have the source for that version. I believe implementing a kernel from scratch for our phones will be damn near impossible.

It uses the new kernel when you flash a new one or a rom with a new kernel but the numbers don't change. Don't know why though.

Do you happen to know what stops the kernel from being re-based on a newer version?

From what I can tell all the custom kernels run on 2.6.32.9 with the exception of the CM7 builds. There are never mentions updating the linux kernel. I can't tell from the file names or updates if it's happening.
Maybe I was told wrong. I asked a similar question a few months back and that's how it was explained to me.

I don't think you were told wrong just maybe asked a different question. After spending too much time looking it 2.3 is based on the 2.6.35.7 kernel so that explains why it's on the 2.3 builds.
I think it's more of a problem building the kernel from scratch. I'm guess they start with the source they have which is a 2.6.32.9 base and make changes.
im running cyanogenmod 7.1 IHO Android 2.3.7 and i tried to download the ice cream sandwich theme by sonny sekhon on the market but after i download it, it dose not let me apply it i think is because it says that its for HDPI devices only but i have no idea what HDPI means.
any help?
HDPI & MDPI are screen resolution sizes
Here is a thread on XDA about the differences for those who want further understanding
HDPI is for larger screen devices
Our phone is MDPI. As 320x480 is our resolution
Here is Sonny's MDPI ICS Theme (works perfectly on our phones)
thanks man are you running the same rom as me?
just curious
I change ROM's waaay too much. Probably once every few weeks or so. I haven't switched to new baseband yet, and probably won't until a stable version of ICS forces me to.
Currently I'm using PerfectPeso V1.1a (CyanogenMod, 2.3.7 old baseband Goldenleaf Kernel, Conservative (this best governor for battery/performance as far as I'm concerned) 480-748
I like it so far because it already comes pre-tweaked with scripts and upgrades. One of the big things for me is the included DSP Audio Manager fix which makes our phones sound muuuch better than with the other Cyanogen,od

I was using adfadd666's Cyanogen 7.2 (32 kernel, old baseband) but kept having problems with market forced close even after clearing data in the app settings and wiping cache partition.
I used Mik's 6.58 and 7.1 and quite a few others 6.58 is probably one of the most stable roms that I've flashed but really most of them are pretty smooth.
I mostly did it for the hotspotting but this rom is horrible at that what is the best from u would recommend for hotspotting for our phones?

CyanogenMod is a free, community built, aftermarket firmware distribution of Android 4.1 (Jelly Bean), which is designed to increase performance and reliability over stock Android for your device.
This is developed for the GSM 16GB version of Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini (GT-I8190), and tested when running I8190XXAMG4 baseband.
I'll only support this model since it's the only one I own, if someone wants to attempt to port this ROM to his model feel free to take my tree as base, but don't expect support
you'll use it at your own risk. I do this because I love to learn lots of things about Android.
Reporting Bugs
. Please try to provide logs if you see errors (logcat and dmesg). If you don't know how to do that check google or ask people here to help you. Don't contact me directly.
Download
You are storing very sensitive information on your phone. You always have to be careful what ROMs you flash and whom you trust.
You can download the ROM here.

Where is the source code or at least a link..... looks to be a duplicate of the other two roms without any difference. Nothing in post 1 suggests otherwise.
hi everybody, i want flashing lineageos based custom roms.
twrp recovery is currently available, but unfortunately, a stock android based or lineageos based, custom android roms has not been released. I can't support development because I don't know coding or have no command of these issues. Can you add a list of custom roms under this topic? Thanks everyone
There seems not much, you can limit this device thread to "Development":

Excuse my wise words but then perhaps it would have been better to look first what's available (as in custom ROMs) and then buy accordingly.
Sounds tedious but I always crosscheck my buys beforehand with
https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/
That usually saves you from rare and unsupported/unsupportable devices (like those based on Mediatek SOCs).

Is that right? I thought, they cannot prepare customs before code is released by manufacturer... slight but noteworthy difference, right?

Custom roms cannot be prepared without releasing the source code. I am impatiently waiting for the day when I will upload custom rom. When will the source code be released?
