Both Systems on Same WiFi?
Are the two systems you want to use on the same WiFi network? If you want your PC to access your Tab, then your PC needs to be hooked up to your router, and your Tab needs to have it's WiFi function on and setup to connect to that same router.
From my understanding of the directions, Kies does not operate through the air using the cell network (ie: 3g, 4g, etc).

Same problem here as well. Bought this piece on sunday. I was never able to successfully connect to kies from my 64 & 32 bit laptops. Worst part is the software is too buggy and there is an update available, am not able to download it because of this stupid kies. If any one manage to resolve please let me know.

Same here..I also have the 3G version..i need to do a factory data reset to connect to kies...then after restoring from Titanium back up all my apps..it happens again,cant connect to kies..so now I'm just gonna wait before there are any firmware updates before i go through the tedious again
Kies version 2.1.1.11124_17 and it just won't allow my galaxy tab 10.1 to connect.
It stays forever on "connecting".
I have installed it on two computers. My phone Galaxy S2 can connect fine.

I have the 10.1 4G (GT-7500D). I have managed to get it to work - kinda.
That is to say, I have installed it on 3 PCs in the home (Windows 7 Professional, and Windows 7 Home Premium - all 64bit) and it worked VIA USB... ONCE on each computer. After the initial install I can connect exactly once. The only way to get it to reconnect is to reset the tablet back to factory defaults. Hardly a solution. Interestingly enough, it works VIA wireless Kies with no issue, however, you cannot update system this way. Going the USB route the software must be storing or changing a setting on the tablet that unfortunately prevents it from reconnecting a second time VIA USB (hence the reason a factory reset will allow it to connect again - once).
Has anyone tried changing the usb debugging mode in settings> applications> development instead of the resetting to stock? Not saying it'll work but wortha try if not tried yet.

if you cant upgrade from the tablet...download the latest odin file from here and flash it using odin in the PDA slot.

I am able to connect my P7510 to USB, just Kies will not recognise my tab. Does recognise it over Kies-Wifi though. But firmware updates are not supported over Kies-Wifi... Not Good...
Got Latest Kies, enable/disable USB debugging, reset Tablet did not help. Stuck in a rut. But as HC3.2 no longer supports USB Kies mode (and my tablet started out with HC3.2, being as new as it is) I am for now stuck with waiting for OTA updates, few and far apart as they are...
Ah well, could have been my other tablet (Archos Gen8 43), which has even less options (Froyo).

So, I've seen a number of posts saying that they can't get Bluetooth sharing to work properly on 2.1. More specifically, PC to Phone.
I got it working on the first try, on a Mac, so here are the steps I took:
First, pair the device.

Here's where I think Windows users are getting tripped up, because I'm not sure if this dialog pops up on Windows.
Click "Send Anyway"

So, it works... but I'm guessing the "Send Anyway" dialog is what is screwing up the transfers. Every file type seems to bring it up.
If I have time, I'll see if I can get a guide for Windows 7.

I have no problem on sending file from PC to phone using bluetooth.
X10i, Generic 2.1, rooted
I've run v2.1 X10i (International, Nordic) as well as v2.1 X10a (Rogers, Generic) and have never had any Bluetooth issues on my Rogers X10a.
I use my MW600 (stereo music & phone calls), Bluetooth send/receive to/from two different laptops. Only thing I haven't tried is PDAnet Bluetooth tether.

I don't have a .nomedia file/ folder in the BT directory... and I do have the problem.. have managed to find a couple of work arounds, but neither are ideal TBH.

Make your phone in discover mode in the bluetooth settings. the phone will only visible for a short time.

That's not the problem... you can pair with the phone fine.. just can't send files to it.

- installed kies
- installed driver from kies
- factory reset sgs2
Info:
* i even reformat my Windows 7 (i thought it gets conflict with my previous SGS driver) and started everything from fresh but still fail
* Kies detects my phone, i can browse contacts etc. but Odin still fail to detect in download mode
* my phone is a branded O2 Ireland. Sim free
* i've tried on other PC but still fail
Please help me, i lost hope.. i just want to Root my phone

Alt+Crtl+delete >> Taskmanager >> Processes and terminate everything with kies in the name.

Does windows see the phone drives via USB mass storage mode ..If not its your USB drivers and thats what Odin requires .
Tried a different Odin Odin3 v1.3 always worked for me .

yeah, windows sees it as usb mass storage, i can browse my sdcard and external card after plug to it, but again, Odin doesn't detect it

To update via kies you don't need download mode.
Just connect the usb cable with the phone on.

I know, it put the phone in download mode by itself, while trying to install the update!
Guys, please help..
uninstall your Kies and reinstall it please.
My advice would be to ditch it for the piece of crap that it is and use Odin to flash the firmware.

I use odin and have used KIES in the past. What I find is that when you flash with odin you have to clear data on a lot of apps to make them work. I have never encountered this issue when updating the "regular" way. Odin does get the updates faster, but it seems to work cleaner.

Try the update again and when it fails and you have to restart the phone yourself, don't close down kies, instead reconnect the phone to your pc. It should if i remember correctly go into a recovery mode and complete the install.

It didnt help, when i restarted the phone and plugged it back, kies didn't do anything and it was waiting for me to close the error message. I clicked ok and the upgrade was closed I got back to the same position as when I just plug the phone..
I got the exact same problem and I have tried everything in this thread.
My theori is that the computer (win7) doesn't recognice the phone correctly after the restart into Download Mode.
When I first connect the phone with the USB cable win7 recognices that phone as Samsung USB Modem, but when Kies restarts the phone into Download Mode the computer states that it is Samsung USB Modem #2 or sometimes even #3 or #4.
And I don't have a clue how to solve this.

I have solved it for this time.
I uninstalled program and drivers. Rebooted and changed USB connection. Installed Kies and drivers again. Then it worked.
Just took me about 20 times of testing and 2-3 reinstalls.
Whenever i try to connect my New Xperia S to laptop it start searching drivers which fails and then it connects in kinda speaker mode with laptop. I mean if i try to call somebody i can hear that on my laptop. Anybody having same problem

Why are you connecting it?
If its for tethering(sharing 3g) use wifi hotspots, and if its for file transfer use a free program called My Phone Explorer, that will allow you to pair properly.
I eant to use it for file transfer. I usef to connevt easily with my all earlier phones. It start the hardware scan and then nothing.

The XS is treating your laptop as a headset thats why. Seriously, use this: http://www.fjsoft.at/en/ and use wifi if you can, its generally faster.

Well i too have a problem with bluetooth file transfer with my laptop hp-pavilion.
When i try to send any file via bluetooth to my phone, i get a message "Object push service is busy or not supported"
I tried connecting to an other hp laptop, still the same problem persists.

Ever since updating to "14.1.B.2.257" i can't connect my Xperia Z Ultra (C6802) to my PC. i've tried a lot of things such as reinstalling the drivers, installing and activating ADB etc. But everywhere i look, it's been mentioned that a msg should prompt on my device (the RSA Authentication):

the problem is that i've installed functioning drivers AND the PC recognizes my internal storage and SD card; the only problem is that i can't connect to third party softwares in order to backup or manage my phone via them BECAUSE there is no pop-up msg asking me to authorize the "fingerprint" of my pc :|

Hmm, mine usually connects the second i enable USB debugging. If you're sick and tired of it and don't want to fiddle with it right now but you want to move/remove files and stuff to/from your device, i recommend AirDroid. Just open the app and your browser on you computer and you're ready to go (you have to be connected to the same WiFi as your computer).
Change your usb connection mode to MSC Mass storage mode instead of MTP Media transfer mode. That should do it.

thanks, rest assured that i'm well aware that "usb debugging" is enabled i even tried GIVING UP developer rights and then again recaliming it just as a possible solution (but nope, undoable without serious phone-hauling)
i up'ed it to .2.257 using the OTA method, i think the whole thing might be due to the fact that my device isn't rooted :/ don't ask me why cuz i'm very pissed at Sony for its lacking of such things. (.2.257 can't be rooted yet, not even with vRoot)

Thanks Lord, as i stated i only have trouble connecting to third-party softwares such as Mobango and Moborobo (do u know if there are any such softwares better?) the rest is kinda okay, i can see my device as a connected device in My Computer etc.

Thanks for replying Sunday, but that's another odd thing: i can't seem to change the connection mode from "Internal & SD Card Connected" to anything else, cuz i did hypothesize that changing it to any other form of connection might have a chance at prompting the "RSA Fingerprint" msg :laugh: but i simply can't change it to anything else, again, might be due to the fact that my device isn't rooted
