Battery charge won't go down??? - Galaxy Tab 10.1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

OK so this just started happening today.
I plugged my Tab in this morning, charged it till it was at 100%. I have this little blue battery icon with a "100%" over it and in my notification pop up is a notification stating "Info, Battery fully charged. Unplug from charger".
Now the notification and icon aren't the issue, I've seen them before once and awhile. The issue is that they won't go away.
After I fully charged my battery I unplug my tab and watched a 50 minute documentary. When I was done watching it both the icon and notification were still their.
Now the documentary isn't in HD or anything like that and I did have the screen brightness set to 100%... Theirs no way my tab didn't go through any battery watching in... Right
My tab is completely stock and unrooted, running ADWex and no system apps or battery type apps that would effect my tab on the system level... again I'm not rooted.
I've tried repeatedly plugging in and unplugging the stock usb charging cord (the one that it shipped with), both when it was in sleep mode and a wake. I've reset the device a number of times now. And nothing i've tried will not make the icon or notification go away, also the charge level on the lock screen and in the upper part of the notification pop up (just under the time and date) doesn't change. The charge level has remained at a 100% for the last few hours now.
Any help is always appreciated.
EDIT: Just noticed this to... when the tab is completely off I get the big battery icon stating that my tab is completely charged.
It just seems like my tab still thinks it plugged in.

New Battery Fully Charged Icon won't go away

So today is the first day I am seeing a new icon on my Tab 10.1 that says "battery fully charged. Unplug charger". Its stuck around even after the tab has been unplugged and I can't see a way to dismiss it. Any ideas? Its weird, since getting my tab on launch day and charging it every night, this is the first I am seeing this message.
Reboot it?

Good point. That got rid of the indicator and alsocaused the battery to drop from 100% to 90%. My wifi setting were all screwed up and I had to force close a samsung service a few times after the wireless started working again. Guess we'll see how it goes tomorriw morning.
This happens to me quite frequently. When it happens, as you probably know, the tablet will say the battery is fully charged, regardless of the actual level of charge left. I avoid it by turning off my tablet while it's charging and avoiding turning it on until after I've unplugged it.
i too have the same problem.
When I first got the phone it wasnt a problem but has become one of the annoying problems with the phone (otherwise it is excellent!). The notification becomes stuck in the tab and there is a permanently displayed icon indicating that the battery is fully charged (when after some time it often isnt). Very annoying indeed. The only way to get rid of it I have found is to reboot the phone but that is not practicable. I would be interested in a solution if someone finds one.
I confirm the same issue. battery full notifiation won't go away without rebooting. Gs2 running perfect otherwise. Is there a way to disable battery notifications all together ?
Bump
Not sure if this has been corrected yet. I'm also using a Samsung device. It's a refurb Facinate (poor me) but with Froyo. The 100% Info "Battery fully charged. Unplug charger" remains after unplugging the phone. Very annoying because it only displays the battery as full until it warns that the phone is about to run out. I've also noticed that it seems to be affected by the usb cable(data or only power) that I use, but it's still pretty erratic. I've tried everything I can find in the web, except a factory reset. Is this a Samsung bug?
kidager
I really don't want to be that guy that revives a thread after 3 years or so :silly:
But I still have this problem with no solution
After unplugging the charger the notification is stuck in there until rebooting. I also have problems connecting my samsung to the laptop, again until rebooting.
So, any solution ?

[Q] weird battery/charging issue

So this morning when I unplugged my phone from charging all night, like I always do, the notification bar said the phone was still charging. I plugged charger back in and unplugged and it went away. A couple hours later, I noticed my battery was draining extremely fast. I check the battery in the Settings>About phone>Battery Usage, and it said the phone had been on battery for 24hrs. Meaning the phone never recognized it had charged. I refreshed and no change. I wiped battery stats in recovery and it seemed to work. I later charged the phone to 100% and the problem started again. Phone kept showing the setcpu charging bolt in the notification bar. When I checked battery usage, it just showed 0 seconds on battery and there is nothing there. No display time, no android OS, nothing. I decided to flash uNamed, coming from serendipity. After flash, battery usage still showed 0 seconds on battery. I pulled the battery, and then ended up in a batter charging/battery empty bootloop sort of thing. If I pressed all three buttons (vol up vol dwn and pwr) it would take me to download mode. I had to flash an odin kernel just to get phone working again, but battery stats are still screwy. Any ideas?
Edit > my phone keeps showing charging bolt symbol when its not plugged in. Got it to turn off by plugging/unplugging phone several times. While sitting in my pocket the phone made that noise it makes when you plug it in. Now my phone thinks its charging again. Wtf

[Q] Superclean w/ KGB - powers off while charging

I'm not finding any other posts about this, so please forgive me if this is well known.
I have installed Superclean, with the KGB kernel, and I'm using Pimp My CPU to overclock/underclock. While unplugged everything seems to work great, but when I plug in the charger, at some point the phone powers OFF. (I've seen complaints about the phone staying ON while charging but this is the opposite.) It's kind of a big deal since I use my phone as my alarm clock, and typically overnight is when I have it on the charger. So I can't afford for it to be spontaneously powering off while charging it.
So, any ideas about this? Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere? Let me know if there is more information I can give about this issue. Thanks!
Is it actually shutting down or just the screen shutting off? Check in applications then development and see if stay awake while charging is checked.
I'm running SC with latest KGB 12/12 and have not had this happen. Just a suggestion hope it helps.
While plugged in I get the large green battery on the screen when I press power. When I unplug the charger, it boots just as from a powered-off state (boot animations, etc.). The "stay awake" option is NOT set, but I thought that option was just regarding the screen on/off, not the device power on/off. I guess I could try having that option on, and set the screen really dim -- at least then I could use the alarm clock feature while charging.

Are you using sleep profiles in pimp CPU?
"the relentless pursuit of the perfect rom"
I only had a Default and Screen Off profile. Notice I say had because I actually noticed that I started having some instability on top of the power-off issue, so I reverted back to the kernel that came with the ROM, and uninstalled Pimp. This addressed the stability issues (I didn't have time to experiment with voltages, etc. to figure out what works with my device).
As for the powering off while charging: apparently setting the "stay awake" option did address this issue, although I am still puzzled as to why. I always assumed this setting was for devs who were testing apps and didn't want to have to keep unlocking their phone. I didn't think it would have any effect on preventing the phone from going into a powered-off state, but whether by coincidence or design, this did prevent the power off while charging that I had encountered. So thank you for the suggestion!
Thanks for the replies sfobrien and laureanop!
Xperia S powers off while charging
I'm having the exact same problem. I have a brand new Xperia S (OK, a bout 1 week old) and last night plugged in the mains charger. I then set the alarm to 7:30am and dimmed the screen display. The handset stayed on for at least 10 minutes. I fell asleep. The alarm did not wake me at 7:30! When I woke at 7:45am I found the phone had switched itself off completely and although the power cable was still plugged in, the handset did not appear to have charged the phone (47% battery remaining). So 2 issues: why did the mains charger fail to continue charging the phone throughout the night; and why did the phone power down completely. I would only expect the phone to automatically power down when the battery was nearing zero %.

HELP! Prime won't start up.

So I took the prime of its box, plugged it into the wall and tried turning it on. When I did, the Android battery indicator screen showed up. The battery was in the red, about a quarter the way up. I've since called Asus about the issue, and they told me to charge it for about an hour. I've done that, and still it doesn't work. It still boots into the same screen. It won't even go into recovery if I hold volume- and power for 10 seconds, just back to the battery screen. I feel like maybe I'M doing something wrong here. Any ideas, guys?

it's gotta charge. mine did that too and i was freaking out. apparently not all tablets are charged. It took about 10 minutes to finally get it to boot up.
If you charge it and it still doesnt...then it might be time to ..worry
I'm only worried because it's been charging for an hour and still just goes to the battery screen, shutting off immediately after. I'll let it charge for a few hours and if it still doesn't work I'll just have to call Asus.
Whoa sorry to hear this. When i plugged mine in it started booting up & went to the home screen. It had 21% battery left on it.So i shut it down & letting it charge the full 8 hours that's recommended before even using the device.I hope yours works.
Make sure the charging light is on
where's the charging light?
its built into the power on button. a tiny little orange led
It's not coming on. When I plug the tablet in, it recognizes that it's plugged in and vibrates, tries to turn onamd fails.
Make sure it is plugged in all the way in the tablet.. and then wait a bit. you must use the wall charger.
It has been plugged all the way into the tablet with the wall charger :-/
Dang! Sorry to hear this. if it doesn't come on within the hour id say just exchange it. it might bea faculty unit. it should have enough juice to boot up by now considering if you charging it properly. Good luck. wish it was working for you because this is a great device.
I am having the same problem too when I first plugged it in the battery indicator screen came on real fast and turned off the orange charging light came on and turned off.I tried plugging into the computer it does nothing diffrent.I think it might bricked.
okay. i just got my primetoday, same deal. it doesn't start, tried to reset, etc. i finally charged it for a while, after a while, it finally boots. at that point it was at the 15% battery life mark.
seems a bit odd.... i would wait and see.. if its game stop they would of had games installed on it.
I just got mine today...woot!!! But the issue that u have happened to me also what it happened was a faulty charger

I tested the charger on my phone and it worked. I plugged into the tablet and pressed the power button the led came on and blinked and turned off quickly.I think the battery needs a good charge.
I had to charge mine until the battery indicator was green before it would turn on. Said in the manual to fully charge before using for the first time... so maybe it doesn't let you start up until charged?
Well after 3 hours of charging it finaly started up but the battery level was low 3% showing that tells me the battery had no charge in it.Well I am happy that it is working and hopefully no other problems show up.
Good to hear
Same exact thing happened to me, lol. Mine arrived with zero charge and I just let it sit for about an hour plugged in and all was well.

[Q] 100% battery full but doesn't turn green

my nook tablet is now 100% fully charging. but it doesn't turn green.
it says "100% - Full" but the charger's light still orange (yellow maybe)
while it was charging, i had some problems so i tried to reboot it, do a factory reset,....
is this the reason? and for what i did while it was charging -> will it harm my battery?
can i unplug the charger now?
this is the 2nd time i charge, last time my brother unplugged it, i don't know was it green or not, but it probably was, because that was night, he was sleeping, the only way he knew it was full is the green light (i think)
i think i can unplug, next time i will leave it charge normally to see what happen?
From what I encountered, some cables don't turn green when the device is on because it constantly discharges (especially if you have wifi on, not sleeping, or brightness up) It's the same with my cable, sometimes it turns green and sometimes it doesn't, but overall I don't think it made a difference.
Plugging in your nook while factory reseting would not harm your batteries. I'm not sure if your problems you described in this thread is related to the ones in the other threads you created. I'm assuming so.
I don't think you should worry about the color. Mine is green all the time it is charging. When I first got it it was orange until full charge. Now I just turn on the screen and look at the battery widget.
