I had to post this because the only to working roms are the Gingerbread ones and thats it. Did all the developers stop working on their roms and moved on? or can we expect updates on their exsisting roms?
There are some really good roms out there and it seems as though the Eris is coming to an end.
Hmmm the only two working roms are the Gingerbread ones? I beg to differ....
It seems like most of the froyo roms have been updated around mid-late January.. I didn't know a few weeks was the end of our eris' lives! Your right though, in the sense that CM7 is now the new popular choice, and subsequently the most updated/talked about roms. Also alot of our devs have moved on to different phones and only drop by occasionally here to maintain their work and lend an expert hand

xtrROM was just updated to version 5 a couple of weeks ago. CELB gets updated every few weeks. My guess is that Workshed and Tazz are concentrating on GB rather than Froyo these days, though I think Tazz is still working on the Froyo Sense build.
I think that Froyo has matured, obviously Eclair has as well, and obviously Gingerbread is getting a lot of attention right now.
Tazz is still updating his Froyo rom's, workshed is still updating his Froshedyo build, punk.kaos is still updating his froyo build as well as his GB build. New themes and complete theme roms are being built for cm7 AND cm6 constantly. Just gotta check the forums frequently and watch for updates. There's actually quite a bit of action going on in the Eris forums now a days, on the CM6 side as well as CM7. Also I am about to have a CM6 rom in the works.
Tazz and Workshed are perfecting their CM7 roms at the moment but are still dedicated to their CM6 roms too. There are some amazing devs here at the Eris forums that are working hard through sickness and all kinds of personal issues to give the people what they want. The 1st post is kind of like an insult to their work. Don't give up on them, they just have a lot on their plate right now.
Oh no don't get me wrong, I love my Eris. I do like the new GB roms its basically the same style and it makes it confusing which one to load on the phone. Zenexp, Energyexpress, tenzoRCmix those roms I wish were updated too. Especially those roms with apps2sd which makes it better for the Eris being that the Eris doesn't have lots of space.
But I understand these Dev's working hard to ensure that our phone become part of the whats new in the market on other phones. I commend their hard work.
just fyi both the gingerbread roms now have app2sd and cache2cache working. also, tazz had commented recently in his gingerbread thread about working on the camera for froyo sense.
Any of the 2.1 roms have been taken as far as they can go.
The 2.2 ROMs are almost 100% perfect... so no reason to update.
2.3 ROMs make the most sense.

OR... you could take those ol 2.1 roms and with the permission of their respected devs, and work on them yourself. Use the android kitchen to change some stuff n tweak it around. Then maybe YOU sir can update them for US!

He doesn't seem to be. KF last update was two months ago, and his GB ROM hasn't been updated since Jan 10. I'm not complaining about it at all, but he seems to be spending a lot of time working on his Fascinate ROMs right now.
I think Conap, Workshed, Tazz, Tenzo, and Zach.xtr are the developers most actively working on Eris ROMs right now.
Not so fast, Ranger Rick! They're developing on MANY levels. The Eris is still a big deal, okay? Okay
And now there is another new dev on here..... ME ! Put up my 2.2 rom a few days ago !
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963722
Started working on a CM7 build yesterday as well and should have it done by the end of the week hopefully !!!!
Thanks for the feedback guys. I didn't mean to sound like a jack, but you're right about the roms. I would love to create my own or better yet take a rom and change to my liking. But don't know how. These roms you guys make are awesome but its like I always want more and always love new updates or new roms.
I'm good with PSCS4 but not coding or even trying to create a rom. I would love to learn and create my own or mod someone elses rom. How?
I think that first learning app creation might be a good place to start, get the basics of programming down. Then try to go deeper with a ROM. Idk, maybe that's just my own idea. I personally am kind of in the process od learning Java coding to make apps and have a few ideas for apps. The developer of one of my favorite apps called Ethereal Dialpad is helping me learn. He suggested Processing. Seems easy enough.

Check out this post bro, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=756775
As long as you follow it step by step and don't do anything wrong it's actually kind of easy. Once I got everything installed and running it took me about 2 days to get my own 2.2 rom up and working (very fast and stable if I might add lol) which is here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=963722
Now I'm working on a CM7 GingerBread rom for the Eris which will hopefully be done by the end of this week. Main thing you need to do is download the Oracle Virtual Machine and install Ubuntu on it. That first link I posted tells you how to do everything ! Try it out man, gotta start somewhere ! If you need any help with making yours, just let me know and I'll help to the best of my abilities !
Great news!

this is great news and I am glad to read this! My Eris was my first Android phone and I am glad to see it is still being developed for! yeah!
The Eris is still alive according to Droid Life's article. We might get an OTA update. AWESOME. I still love my phone and love creating icons and putting ideas on it. Its just that every other phone is getting more attention and the Eris is in the back burner.
I'm still keeping mine.
The update is confirmed and people are already getting it. Justrelaxing on the Android Central forums has already got the update along with a few others. Here's the page, go to post #27

We people know of only a few original roms for our optimus one phones.
1. LG Roms ( Froyo & Gingerbread )
2. Mik's ported CM 7 Rom
And right now we are enjoying their different variants in different flavors.
Andy also made a wonderful aosp gb rom but it had some unsolved bugs like fm and Bluetooth headset and a few others.
Besides competing with each other in a healthy way, Mik and Andy also shared a lot of things together while developing their Ports.
Ciaox also tried to port the sense Froyo rom but stopped it after he could not solve the GPS issue and a few others. Now he is trying to port the sense GB rom. I wish him best of luck.
Franco has contributed immensely in kernel development. Fserve has also started contributing in this area.
Noejn, dookmat, paolo gave us good custom Froyo roms. Many people are still giving us custom GB and CM roms.
Drelisdee gave us first custom recovery AmonRa. Kbzona is also doing good work.
I haven't yet donated to anybody in my Android life. But now I feel we should start donating where it is due.
I want to donate first to Mik. He has given us the best original rom for o1 so far.
I request Mik to open some channel to donate to him.

Developers like him , franco and all that you have listed above need to be recognized in some other form than post thanks. I gladly second that notion of donation to those guys whose efforts we see deserving. A little something to credit their efforts.
Ok so here we go .
Its been mostly like that i will not have this phone in a week due to i need to give it to my brother.
Also i bought a HTC Touch Pro with windows 6.1 pro probably i will see if i can get android or anything like that on it. I also may get another phones which is better than optimus one and i will give this phone to my brother.
So i want to thank
Andy
Bytecode
Arjen
Franciscofranko
Fserve
Dax
Ludophrip ?
RockR
And all our bellowed LG Optimus one users for doing such a beautiful work. Also those who never did theme or developed a Rom, but gave time to report bugs! Yes that's also important!
And also those who just said thanks for all developers and theme makers work! Your giving them selfconfidence to continue their work!
Last and most i want to thanks
XDA-Developers for making this forum for our beloved LG optimus one and making is possible for everyone to participate on this site. Without this forum our phone may not even got a ics thread!
Thanks to you all!
Well see you some other time!

Hi all, I am a current iPhone user and my phone is shot (battery issues and water damage) and its time to move on to something with a more open user experience (I am a engineer and love to tinker). My main question is the LG Phoenix (Optimus One?) a good beginning phone to get familiar with the Android platform? A friend has one that they used all of two months before getting an iPhone 4 and is willing to sale me the phone really really cheap.
Thank you for your time and any answers you may have for me, the help will be greatly appreciated!
Michael
Go for it, dude. You won't regret it. This is my first Android phone too (purchased in June last year) and I started to tinker with it in November. It has been smooth sailing so far. Best investment for money.
BTW, I'm an engineer too. ;-)
Thank you for the quick reply
If you're getting it for cheap, do go ahead. Just remember that it is a rather low-level phone, so glitches and lag and other such problems are to be expected. But a custom ROM should fix most, if not all, of those problems.
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I advice you to buy it. Flashing a custom rom on Optimus One will speed up your phone.. and you can have Ice Cream Sandwich on it.
dude just go for O1, I'm so much happy with this device and our development is just awesome!!
One more thing I'm a future Engg!!
Thanks for the replies! I was astonished when I found this forum and why I hadn't sooner. This whole website is full of wonderful information and helpful people!
The Phoenix and O1 have different drivers. Flashing O1 roms work, with color issues, you need joban' s kernel to make it work right. Obb never had a stable rom/ kernel
Joban was the only one working on building. Now he's not.
Netflix will never work on Phoenix. CPU to slow. I've OC mine 729
I updated to 2.3.4 stock. Roming never made it better.
If you wanna neet phone to bring you into android, and it's REALLY cheap then get Phoenix.
if you want to rom and mod then get something better.
Greetings.
I am very new here at least as a poster.
I just wanted to post a thank you to all that contribute to this vast knowledgeable.
Thanks to the information i found from this forum i have been able to root my lg optimus t (p509 aka 500) I have upgraded the baseband from the old baseband to the newer one. I found out why i should do that from this forum because despit the BB fix it actually slows down the 3g connection a lot. I have installed countless custom roms to my device and found some great tools to keep my droid backed up and in syn with my google drive account.
I used to be a huge apple fan squeeking out years of life of my old iphone 3gs (now factory unlocked but useless due to ios 6.01 totally breaking my reception) now i have a old out of date lg phone that i really like the look and feel of. I am using hephappys 9.1.4 ICS rom which has been very stable for me and is my daily driver. I am really looking forward to seeing a stable JB rom that doesnt chew through battery power.
Thank you very much xda-developers and all its contributors.
