Mute Shutter Sound? - Motorola Photon 4G

Is there a way to mute the shutter? I can't seem to find it in settings. I also tried third party camera app Vignette but couldn't find it there either.
Thanks!

If your rooted you can just change the file name in system/media/audio/ui/camera_click.ogg to camera_click.ogg.backup

App Name: ShutUpCamera

Check out my thread if you are rooted. It will show you how to enable the sound option for the camera so you can turn it off or on. Not sure why they hid the option on the phone.

make sure the app is on, you can tell this, because it will always be in the notification bar, and ensure the box at the bottom is deselected

also make sure the checkbox for the "enable screen filter" is unticked.
i had problems with the app and by the time i got it working, all my rom flashing somehow disables my HW leds for good. And since a reboot does nothing, im enjoying a life without those HW leds.

Hey bro, Go to the phone app of your phone (dialer or contacts) press the menu button and press the "call settings" button. Option should say "Increase volume in pocket" or something around those lines depending on the rom. Just un-check that and done!
thanks elracing

Silent but Rings

if the phone is on silent, is there a way to make certain contacts ring? So meaning bypassing the silent mode?
This is one odd request, why would you want this function?

What ascariz said.. or maybe try to set the notification sound to a silent one or something close.. you can probably download a tone that is blank .. then just assign a different tone to a contact. .. maybe
Good luck

sorry for the late reply..
my thoughts are around if i am in a meeting i have my phone on silent but set a ringtone for someone important, e.g. mum/dad and the phone will ring.
ill check out some of the apps on playstore.
You can with tasker. I just created a profile for night that silents the phone but allows anyone on my favorites list to by pass it with a phone call. One of android 's more pricey apps but well worth it in my opinion. Examples on how to do it can be found on tasker's wiki.

Search "selective silence" in play store. Been using it forever and it works great. Just add the numbers you want to ring when your phone is in silent mode. Very small and free app. By ChainsDD I think.
Hope that helps

Is there a way to disable the shutter sound in the camera app besides putting the phone on silent mode?

Go to camera = settings= shutter tone then uncheck.
If the above doesnt work, you can use a file explorer that has root access and browse to /system/media/audio/ui/ and delete camera_click.ogg. Deleting it will be permanent though. But you can always back it up in case you want to put it back for whatever reason.
