I am using this kernel which enables you to clock to 768 Mhz and my friend said this is impossible as the heros max is 528 Mhz, i am trying to tell him that this kernel allows you to clock to 768 Mhz but he still insists that the limit is 528 Mhz so how exactly can you clock to 786 Mhz?
same as with pc. the processor guarantees 528, depending on whether you got one of the "good" batch or the "not so good batch" you can turn that clock up.
i got the **** batch <-- IFAIL

how do you even go about overclocking? my phone is rooted but I do not have the slightest idea how to do that

you need to run a rom with an adapted kernal that allows overclocking to take place, currently this can only be done on some android 1.5 based roms. Check the title it usually advertises as overclock enabled.

Aha,... like the Kimera one yeah? I had read up on that ROM but I thought I could also overclock the ROM I'm using currently. I'll have to have a play then.
Thanx Lenny.

yeah like Kimera.
You could do it on your rom your currently on but you would first have to take it apart, modify the kernal then rebuild it, so unless you really know what your doing its probably best just to switch to a new rom.

I see,... Excellent,... This is getting interesting now.
One more thing then if you don't mind....
I have previously been told how to add and remove .apk's from a ROM using it as a base. Is it anything like this?... Take the kernal out of my base ROM, swap it with the one from the Kimera ROM, maybe modify .xml files to tell it new filenames etc, then re-sign? Or is there alot more to it than that?
This is definitely something I'd like to be able to do sometime. Its not something thats needed right now though as I'm quite happy to quietly sit waiting for 2.1.
Thanks again Lenny.

Asking <> Trying!
The only way you can tell how far you can overclock the particular processor in your phone is to actually overclock incrementally, and see how far you can go before the phone becomes unstable.
Whilst Kendons response was terse, he was quite right in what he said, and you should really apologise!
Regards,
Dave
Kendongs always been a great help,i dont really notice the sarcasm as its exactly what i would have said! You really do have to just try things out but be careful.Anything with new radio or including a radio can be potentially lethal to your Hero

Yeah your right, asking isn't really trying. I could have read up more and found out for myself. But I don't agree that I owe him an apology. For a fact he knew that he would be no help to me whatsoever and would likely just tick me off. He definitely was not trying to help. I'm still adamant it would've been more appropriate for him to say nothing at all.
... And thanx for the input Dave & Bonesy. I'll keep what you said in mind, definitely dont want it burning out.
Thank you.

since this is for a different phone and is packaged with a kernel for that phone is this something we should have a .zip for atm? u didnt give much detail but since ur link says fascinate did u replace the spica's kernel with ours?
now the file conversion scripts looks promising, and htis does as well but their page says the kernel is in the package so i'm pass on flashing this =P

im super confused as to what this is... a rom or a kernel or a mod? the OP was so vague
Getting some FCs on LPP, but it does blaze.
Edit: Getting a few more FCs. Skype, Rom Manager, plus a lot of games. I'll keep testing though. Running jt's clean Rom v0.4 and the 11/02 non-voodoo kernel.
Yeah, just too much closing, even without warning and not FCing, just backing to the homescreen. Updates will be awesome.

Just In Time Compiler (JIT) The best part of Froyo.
Guys, its not a kernel it adds files to libs and ect.
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App
Ok so going through the Samdroid forum for info on this, I saw like 400 pages of posts. I saw nothing of a release for fascinate, only spica. I would really like to try this but have a few questions. Is everyone that is getting the FC's running voodoo or standard? Theres not much mention in these posts. Will this allow for Flash?
tons of fc
After running for a couple hours only got one fc, but most apps would not open on the first attempt. The screen would zoom and go black like the app was opening, then I'm sent back to the launcher. Second attempt would usually open the app.
Sent from my SCH-I500 using XDA App
I've tried running both the original and the updated version. For starters there's WAY too many FC's and the apps not opening on the first, second, or third try is obnoxious and I personally can't handle it and don't have the patience or time to open an application five times before it works. It's quicker but the FC's probably even it out. Right now it's personally not worth it, I'll keep playing with the releases until it's worth it. Good find though, keep up the good work.

jaja, dont feel bad...is just a mistype but....seriusly if u want a ROM for your HTC just go to the forum of your device and get a tested rom to avoid kill a second device....cooking a rom is a hard work, take several test and you can literally kill your phone in the way...so if you want a try just buy a second hand phone and make some testing before flash in your main phone...or just download a tested rom from your phone model....

CleanROM 2.0 ICS Edition can be found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=21568953
This thread is now CLOSED!
How to flash
Place ROM on SD Card
You must extract boot.img and flash via fastboot. If you dont know how to do that i have CleanFLASH that will do it for you here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1416791
This should leave you in fastboot so you then need to boot to recovery!
WIPE ALL DATA. DO NOT ASK IF YOU CAN RESTORE FROM BACK UP!
Flash ROM
PROFIT!
Reserved yet again
Sweet, and can't wait to see what you come up with.

Wow all these ics leaks have my head spinning

Its an engineering build and HIGHLY unstable. While it may be fun to play with, its nothing to get excited about. This just tells us how far away they are from releasable ICS...

I know this is an early leak and we can't expect much, but any idea on whether these leaks take advantage of hardware acceleration like ICS is supposed to? Thanks in advance Scott!
This is the leak in flashable format?
There is the issue of downgrading though.

What I *think* is because we needed an updated radio. Thats just my first guess and only a guess.
I am sure there are a lot of bugs in it to. WiFi and text messages do work however.
Is there a flashable Zip? I still have the zip from my GB rom on my phone, if I flash it, will it work?
I know Ressurection ported it over, but I am on DarkyRom, and don't really want to change ROMs etc...
Please delete, flashed and it's working.
Where's that zip? I'd like to try it.
Attached it to this post.
Apologies, i've forgotten who to credit! I had it on my SD card, had it for about 2-3 weeks and forgot which thread it was on.
Use CWM to flash - warning do it at your own risk, it worked for me, but I don't know the first thing about developing flashed stuff, so I probably won't be able to help you if you get stuck.
Backup first as this flash is known to fail to boot on some phones .

Yes on GB did it flash no it soft bricked the phone .
Flashed another version from somewhere don't remember where .
Did it flash yes did it improve sound quality no no no .
But bear in mind i dont listen to exaggerated bass stuff and you may find improvment if you do .

Its a Placebo effect those that see a sound improvement have a sound improvement .
