Hello, I recently got my replacement phone back from Carphone Warehouse (Samsung Galaxy 5 I5500) and when I tried to update it on KIES it said unofficial firmware so I couldn't upgrade it, the end of the firmware code said H3G which isn't right so I flashed my phone to cyanogenmod7.1 via Clockwork recovery, now i have decided I want to go to 2.2 official firmware, how would I do this?
Thankyou
there is a code that you can type into your phone to find out its original firmware version. Im not sure whta it is but if you do that, flash the firmware from here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=781149 , it may work then

So here's the story:
Bought a P7500 through ebay and ended up with a hong kong import, which wasn't too bad because the price was keen. I'm in the UK and so I wanted to remove the asian bloatware and flash a stock european firmware. I decided I'd get an early firmware then use kies to update it to the latest. I choose kg1 from samfirmware.com and flashed that, everything went okay but I had to wipe /data because I got stuck in a boot loop. Kies wouldn't update my device so then I though I might as well flash the latest firmware. Got the latest firm from samfirm and then proceeded to flash but now Odin can't flash the bootloader, I've tried ma any differen t euro firms but always the same thing, it just gets stuck on flashing the bootloader.
I know my bootloader is locked but I wouldn't think that would disrupt the Odin recovery. All I really want to do is upate my tab to the latest stock euro firm. Is their a way to flash this another way? I fear the bootloader file maybe broken on my device, is their a way to repair it? I'veallreadytried to repair it with nvflash with no luck.
[FIXED] tried different computer
Hi, i have had my sgs2 for a few months and i've decided i want to swap it for a different phone
my problem is, i have flashed a lot of different rom's and forgot to make a nandroid backup of original firmware so i have found the second to last update (original samsung stock) and flashed that via odin so the phone is back to stock unrooted, i then connected it to kies and tried to update to latest firmware but it came back with unable to update this device
i got the stock firmware from the post in original development and i'm almost sure its the right one
i am from the UK and i am on Orange network but the mobile is unlocked, can anyone help me to get kies to update or tell me what the right firmware/kernel to use so kies will update the device.
p.s. i only want to do this because i want the person i am swapping with to be able to update it without using odin etc..
Thanks,
Simon.
KF3 is an official firmware as far as I know. Download and flash that via Odin. You should get update via Kies if it is there.

First is your phone factory unlocked or unlocked by IMEI.If its unlocked by IMEI then you need to check the product code to see what operator firmware is the original but if its factory unlocked then XDA or Samfirmware should have it but clear the bin counter and system data in CWM mode before the flash.Try everything to clear the phone completely.
What firmware do have now??
Hi guys
I have the following problem
I have a Samsung Galaxy SII
I rooted my phone and now i heard that android 4.0 will come soon
so i wanted to restore my phone and get original firmware again
at this time i had litening rom 6.1 on my phone
then i restored a backup with clockworkmod recovery to a state before installing this firmware
then i unrooted my phone with SuperOneClick 1.9.1 and flashed the original KF4 kernel
These steps went very well and now here is my problem:
I'm not able to get firmware updates via kies any more
Kies doesn't search for updates, because it says, that my phone doesn't support updates via kies
Hope somebody can help me
Sorry ,I also have the problem
Find the stock firmware for your carrier in here or stock firmware for your country in here & flash that.
A clean flash of stock (as opposed to using a backup as you did) should enable you to use Kies to get official firmware updates.

Thank you for the info.. I will try out later
The other thing is, Did you screw around with and change your CSC? I believe it may have an impact on Kies updates as you are trying to update a phone with the wrong firmware and country code...
Could be wrong, had a couple to drink tonight and everythings a little fuzzy...
Hey guys
I have a problem...
My Galaxy S2 is currently running this firmware with Android 2.3.4:
GT-I9100_XEN_I9100CEKI2_I9100XENKH1_I9100XXKI1
CSC = XEN
I get told that there is an update waiting in OTA , so I let it download, reboots, starts to install, stops at 33%, reboots, tells me that it failed and that I need to try via KIES or contact Samsung.
But when I go into Kies... there is no button to let me update my firmware... it just tells me my current firmware version, nothing else like it usually would...
Not custom ROM, no root, battery 100%. Wifi/HSPA makes no difference.... any advice? My friend has the same phone with the same firmware and it works fine with him?
Suggestions?
As it is a Dutch firmware:
Do I need to be in The Netherlands for the update?
Need a Dutch SIM card?

Yes, I think that the CSC does not match your current region.
That's why KIES does not support your phone for a firmware update.
I recommend to download and flash the latest ROM from Intratech's thread (=> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278)
I am running the latest Frankenstein ROM XWLA4 from the third post.
You can combine it with any CSC and modem file you want.
Just put those files into the corresponding section of Odin and flash all at once to your phone.
Stick to Intratech's description (first post).
Alternatively you can use Check Fus Downloader (=> http://fus.nanzen.se/) to check what's the latest officially released firmware version for your phone in your region and download it directly from Samsung servers.
Good luck !
OTA never worked for me ...
Hi,
I have a similar problem.
In my case, whenever I select Settings > About Phone -> Software Update - Update, it says "Connecting to server ..." and then it says "Connection failed".
In the last several months I had this phone, the update never worked from within the phone, and I could only update via KIES. Now I am on 2.3.6 XWKL1
Is this a known bug in SII? I tried to search the forum, but could not find this.
Please help
Regards
Ha! Got it sorted, so simple....
1. Turn off phone
2. Take out SIM
3. Turn on phone
4. Try again
5. Success!

Hello,
I recently returned my GS3 because of an audio problem.
My GS3 was rooted, so before to returned it, I used Triangle Away to reset the flash counter then I flashed an official firmware with Kies. The status of the GS3 was "normal" (in french but I suppose it's the same in english) and my counter showed a "Samsung Official"
The problem is that Samsung refuses to repair my mobile and claims my warranty is voided because my device was rooted and asks me to pay for the repair.
So I have two questions :
Firstly : How can Samsung know my device was rooted after a reset of the flash counter, a flash with an official firmware and an hard reset ?
Secondly : Is There anyone else who had the same problem with Samsung ?

Thank you (Im french so sorry for my English)
What ROM build and modem did it come with?

At first the phone was the official rom (Samsung 4.0.3) then I put Cyanogen Mod 10 (root), then I went back to the official rom via kies (I put away Triangle) and I again flash for a rom clean. Then I did a hard reset.
I never flash the modem
I send my phone with the official Rom (4.0.4) downloaded with Kies

Was it the right version... ex, was it originally on a carrier branded firmware, but you flashed an unbranded version?
Did you flash another region's firmware, ex Polish firmware will have a different CSC to an English one, and can show it has been rooted.
Are you sure there were no root apps, or CWM recovery zips on your internal sd?
All of these can show the system has been rooted before, and are grounds for voiding warrenty (examples can be triangle away apk, CFroot, rom .zips etc.
I have never had my internal sd wiped when I wipe data/factory reset, so this could be plausible.
