So i just spent about 15 minutes researching this, and as far as the posts on XDA go, there is no tutorial, guide or instructions on doing this. Dev's have looked into it, but have gotten nowhere. HTC allows you to do this if you have the engineering bootloader, which you cannot get with the nexus. The engineering bootloader allows you to flash PARTS of an image instead of the whole thing. So, I am not saying it is impossible, but the information is not availabale on XDA.
The "Google" screen is not possible to change. But between Google and animation, like trinity kernels, it is fix in the kernel library. Only Morfic and few ppl actually know to do this.

Yup. Mine goes straight to the animated Droid blue eye.
so is this good, bad, or does it provide any open doors for future hacks?
I would assume that any increase in boot time would be a good thing haha.

I noticed the same thing. I never put 2 and 2 together I was planing on a sbf flash so I wanted to try the 2nd init install before I did. Weird
is that a good thing?
I think it is skipping the bootloader and kernel on reboot and just rebooting the system partition. If I understand it, that's how we would load a custom rom.

Please read what 2nd-init is before just haphazardly installing it. There isn't anything out right now that currently uses it on the Atrix, so unless you're developing you shouldn't really bother with installing it.

I have from an internal source that all moto phones will have unlock-able bootloader in the future and that blur will be gone by jellybean. Hopefully this is true.

Can't believe in motorola anymore especially after my razr xt910 disaster. They announced that they had plans to unlock the bootloader which is still yet to become true.

Please please please help me!!!
Hi, this is Bhakta from New York, USA. I have big problem with my Motorola Photon 4G sprint MB855. After I have rooted my phone, I found new system software of Photon 4G. I download and installed but after installed the phone does not boot. the error massage 'Failed to boot 2 Starting RSD mode and hang up. If I boot manually, it boots but automatically shut down after less than 1 minute. I searched more than 12 hours online and try to download RSD lite drivers and sunfire user file but I can't. After all I found you helped a lot of friends. Please could you assist me. I am so frosted. I have no enough money to buy new one. Don't worry if you want to donate some I will. One more time please favor me.
Thank you
Bhakta
I feel your pain
Unfortunately I can not offer any help because I have the exact same problem. I can only offer what I hope are helpful details about the phones behavior that might help a knowledgable person with a clue to a resolution.
I rooted my phone by the One Click Root method. Friday morning I accepted an over the air software update and can now no loonger use my phone. My phone is in a boot loop, it will start and run about a minute and then restart, as its trying to restart it gets stuck displaying the error, "failed to boot 2" and "starting RSD mode" but it never gets past that point. I have to pull the battery to move the phone from that point.
When I try to fastboot I get the error "starting fastboot protocol support", but nothing ever happens from there, I have to pull the battery if I want to try the next thing. I tried to enter "Androidd recovery" from the fast boot menue but get the same "failed to boot 2" error.
Help, I am in over my depth.

I don't have an SBF for the latest update but all the other files have been on my site since December and as well as the Photon Compendium thread in the Developers forum.
At a quick glance from various sources it almost seems like moto did this on purpose. There are a lot of rooted users having issues with this latest update and the update blocks sbf flashing to and older releases. It may be a little bit before we can get this cleared up for you guys.
Have you tried booting into stock recovery and wiping data?
Im new to modifing my android phones. Im trying to change the splash screens but having troubling finding exactly how to do it. any help would be great.

i tried that but still has old splash screen. is there a step im not doing
Just to be sure, you are asking about the splash screen and not the boot animation. The splash screen is the very first image you see when your phone turns on. The boot animation is the animation you see after the splash screen as your phone is booting.

Also in some splash threads there now using the normal way of changing it to a pg75img.zip i believe thats the name of it but anyways to do it that way you have to be s-off read the op of the thread they usually put instructions in there on how to flash

You know what guys, I really miss honeycomb. Especially the way you add widgets and also the customization that Sony did with the app drawer- they shouldn't have gotten rid of it in my opinion.
I still have my old Tablet S (Although with a cracked screen sadly)
Is it possible (I have root) to downgrade to 3.2?
Why did Google get rid of the awesome screen which added widgets.
Or perhaps someone could send the launcher?
Ive done extensive research and tried many methods and asked people alot smarter than me it cant be done until the bootloader is u locked. Once it is than we can the reason is because the recovery has been updated in the current version of android and once it is you cant go back because it is part of the Rom and is hidden. Yes ive tried downgrading and before I got bootlooped it said cannot because of recovery version. I WASTED about 2 months on this idea as well as a few other people and also Condi the best dev we have over here for the tablet s has tried and theres still no way until the bootloader. Ive also looked at testpoint unlock but if you've ever looked at the motherboard theres gazillions of testpoints so who knows which is the right one plus taking it apart isnt exactly a walk in the park like it is with phones. Youll just have to wait like me. Btw head over and sign the bootloader unlock petition.

So awhile back ago I rooted this device and I guess this made my boot logo a lock with Samsung below it. Is there any way to change this back to the stock boot logo?

No. It will come and go after reboots. I see mine sometimes and sometimes I don't.

That's so weird... Can't I just flash another boot logo?
Sent from my SCH-I545 using xda app-developers app
I get the unlock and custom image before the bootanimation every time. Really does not bother me though. Its nothing odin can't fix when going back to stock.
I get the unlocked logo each reboot, although I've never rooted, flashed a custom bootloader, or installed a custom ROM. Anyone else have this? Seems like it would be simple to fix, and I'm not really concerned about it anyway, but I'm more curious to figure out why it's there at all.

Don't think you can flash a different boot logo. You would need an ODEXED/DE-ODEXED firmware to make those changes.
