problem was !
Dear gurus,
I was trying to update FW of my gt-i5510, via KIES. to 2.3
But during update process, KIES showed a message telling that reboot phone, disconnect and reconnect. I pressed power button. But it started a screen showing a message like
reboot system now
apply sdcard update.zip
wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache partition
#MANUEL MOde#
-applying Multi CSC....
but the option of the update didn't work so i chose the factory reset
after that i tried update again i found kies telling me that my firmware is up to date
i went to setting/about phone/and i found the android version is still 2.2
i am stuck to froyo
please help i want to have gingerbread
i am so depressed
i made sure that the update is official
the weird thing is i have froyo 2.2
and kies says i have the latest version
before the problem there was an update to gingerbread
after the problem i am still running froyo and there is no update
that kind of things makes me so maaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaad
I'm sure if Samsung is giving you official update, it is giving you the latest.
But as you mentioned, it is giving update, I think it is update for your Os which is maybe 2.2.2 or 2.2.1

I used a few versions of Lite-ning ROM successfully without problems... on one occasion I unfortunately neglected to put it on USB debugging mode and went ahead and flashed via Odin as normal...
At the time, I started to get force closed in so many applications (stock email was the worst)... I flashed it again correctly but still had lots of them
I have since tried other ROMs which has reduced the frequency but not entirely... as a last resort have now done a full factory wipe/reset followed by using Exynos 3.0 however I still seem to be getting quite a few force closes... it mostly seems to be when filling in a form or typing message etc, if I move the cursor and hit backspace it just force closes which ever app i am in...
How can I resolve this permanently? Do I need to wipe and flash an official firmware version? Would XXKG3 be ok even though its beta? Cheers
Would XXKG3 be ok even though its beta Who says ???
Use recovery wipe cache factory reset wipe Dalvik . Mounts and storage format system data etc .
Use Odin to flash a stock rom should clear up problems .
I never use USB debugging mode with ODIN 500+ flashes .
jje
Thanks for the advice... Lite-ning ROM instructions state to put it in debugging mode, I assumed having skipped that step it might be the cause?
The site I found the offical KG3 firmware on stated it was beta and might be bugs...
Will try what you advise anyway, thanks for your help!
I decided to update my rooted x10a from generic 2.1 to Wolfbreak 2.3.3. I installed xRecovery and Busy box couple weeks ago. I made a backup of my 2.1 ROM with xRecovery. Yesterday, I put 2.3.3 on and flashed. Everything was fine except I had no contacts and whatnot on phone as usually happens. Had trouble getting into Market and even tried creating new account, no luck. I rebooted then and went into xRecovery thinking I could restore certain data. I chose the wrong Restore and it started and said Checking MD5 sum, then it was putting my previous backup on phone. At this point was like "oh no" and driving car to work. Now its at the SonyEricsson screen and keeps rebooting. I've gone back into xRecovery and tried Factory Reset, Wipe Cache part. and Wipe Dalvik. Then to Install custom zip, I choose from SD card and WolfGB2.3TWv3.5.
It says Installing: Finding update package... E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0) (Device or resource busy)
E:Cant mount SDCARD:WolfGB2.3TWv3.5.zip Installation aborted.
Tried hooking up to computer today and even when trying to get into Flash mode it goes in but after 2-3 minutes, it reboots.
Any help would be greatly appreciated as at this moment I have had to go back to using my SE w810i (good phone but no android)
Can't you use the flashtool and flash SE 2.1 firmware? Or SEUS? You said after 2-3 minutes the phone (seemingly automatically) reboots, but does it reboot even when you are in the middle of flashing a ROM?
You should be able to start from the beginning as long as you can get the phone into flashing mode.
After playing some games on computer, went back and reflashed it to 2.1. Now hopefully will be able to get back to 2.3.3, this time wont be a bonehead. Thanks for help dude!

I have tried that also same issue .. when mobile is idle i believe its going to sleep mode ,caller can hear my phone ringing but i am not receiving calls going back GB .
when you have strange issues dont blame the OS why dont you try dialing wipe code and check.
going from GB to ICS dont restore anything from GB.
use odin and flash official stock not the leaked one.
first time i upgraded from gb to ics , second time i have done factory and cache reset from recovery ,still the same i know something to do with my phone will do a code reset planning to clean the storage before next installation , will a give a try and i am using odin and official f/w only.
you can still try code wipe if you want no need to reflash. but if you want to go from scratch, best way is to format all partitions including system. than go odin way.

Or get proper firmware from ww.samfirmware.com and flash with Odin. You cal also root it afterwards.
I believe the Vodafone UK 4.1.2 update has only become available this week, updated mine last night OTA - previous update was OTA and worked fine. I constantly get the 'Unfortunately android.process.media has stopped working error' and it's also not keen to load the keyboard, and the battery life is now hopeless.
I've googled the error message and I can see that it's a common problem, and the poor battery life is linked to the error message I'm constantly getting. I've tried to raise a thread on the Vodafone Eforum, but there seems to be some problem trying to login at the moment (the forum software has always been hopelessly slow and glitchy).
After all my googling, despite it being a common issue, I can't seen any real solution - can anyone help?
Re-flash the 4.1.2 firmware via Odin. But this time go inte Recovery and wipe data/cache and Dalvik cache if necessary before flashing.
You're right it's a common problem, and wiping usually fix it. Try it.
Cheers.
Thanks, I presume Odin requires the phone to be rooted?
This is the first android phone I've had where I've been happy with the standard rom. I've connected to Kies and it seems to think there's a further update available, I'm backing up and I'll try this first.
If that doesn't work I'll be looking to root and try some of the custom roms.
Ok try Kies update.
And NO, Odin does not require your phone too be rooted. You can although root your phone via Odin.
Cheers.

I installed that very rom using mobile odin had no problems at all. After which you can keep it as stock but you able to remove all the bloatware, bock adds etc as you always have root privileges.
