Stock TouchWiz launcher for the win. Super smooth and I love it. If you don't like TW though, I'd go with GoLauncher - it seems to be ssecond best for battery.

Zeam is the most energy efficient, as it is the simplest and smallest launcher.
But In terms of configuration and functionality GoLauncherEX is the winner !

Stock seems to work well for me. Updated to KI4 (2.3.5) and battery life is quite good.

Ive been usign tsf and spb shell. Tsf options are awsome but they both kinda eat up a lot of battery. With the right rom and JD settings ive gotton up to 2 days without charging. Still looking for a Launcher thats the best though

LauncherPro vs ADW, battery consumption & usability

Has anyone used both & can comment on battery consumption & usability?
I'm using LauncherPro and have a feeling it's not as smooth as it should be on a phone with these specs.
Rooted & have frozen the recommended apps.

I've tried both of the above launchers and personally feel that Go Launcher EX runs smoother on my Atrix. The only issue I have with it is that the homescreens are limited to 5 x 5. I've cleaned up a lot of the junk apps and am getting decent battery life out of it now. Unplugged since 6 this morning, low to moderate use and I'm at 70% at 2 pm.

The reason I think go launcher limits you to 5x5 is so when you put it in landscape every thing fits vertically. I would like to see the app drawer open faster but other than that I love go launcher.

what should be frozen to get optimal use?
I have paid versions of both and find them both to be smooth. I'm using LauncherPro Plus, as I like it's Facebook & Messaging widgets. Cheers.

I agree. None of the market launchers are as smooth as motoblur. I keep installing adw, go and or launcher pro and then uninstalling within a few hours because they aren't super smooth in transitions.

Hm. Am trying Go Launcher since an hour and I have to admit it feels & looks much smoother than LauncherPro..

Go Launcher EX looks great....
Have to agree too that LauncherPro is not as smooth as it should be with these specs. But I'm still sticking to it since it is more customizable. Guess we just have to wait for the rewrite version of LauncherPro

[Q] Does replacing the stock launcher with a paid improve performance?

Let me clarify my question, if I replaced(removed) the stock launcher package with a paid launcher, will performance of the paid launcher improve?
Depends on the launcher. One with alot of features will probably be a bit slower, but more minimal ones designed for speed would be a bit faster.
There are free ones too that are just as fast. It's going to depend on your particular phones setup also, How many apps or widgets you have, stuff like that.
*insert sig here*
It depends...a feature-filled launcher like adw or launcher pro won't be as fast as zeam or another lightweight launcher

LauncherPro is blazingly fast for me. I have every animation/feature turned on except homescreen transitions.
Way faster than Zeam.
Give golauncher a go. I prefer it over launcher pro. Adw is another solid choice if you want a minimal build.

For me it has not slowed down at all. I'm using Adw ex and it works very quick. Just go into the settings and configure it to your liking. I run seven screens with many Widgets and I actually feel it faster than my stock launcher. Try go launcher ex. Great and free. Adw I suggest as well but its preference. Good luck.

Apex or Nova launcher?

I am on Eclipse 2.2 but am interested in upgrading to an ICS rom and see that they use different launchers. I have bought launcher pro plus and ADW EX, but am actually still using the "dead" launcher pro because it is still faster than ADW. I am very anal about speed and lag. Hopefully both ICS launchers are fast and I don't have to worry about performance? what are your thoughts on the ICS launchers? Performances and speed is my number one concern, and I am willing to pay. Thank you.

Also +1. Dunno why but always had some weird issues with Nova while Apex is indeed running smooth and have better options for me. I recommand you to go for Apex, wont be disappointed imo.
Apex all the way...its clean, simple and user friendly.
Apex is the best i won't change it ever
Apex all the way
They both have free versions in the play store. Try them both out and use the one to your liking. I am partial to Nova, myself.
try both, they both have free version on the market, for me nova is the choice...
Since I have ICS, I'm using Apex free launcher; It's very smooth and the best I've tried. When you try it, you'll hate other launchers.
Since Apex fixed the FC's a while ago I am very happy with it. All the settings and features available even in the free version are awesome. Swiping down to expand notifications is my favourite.
I like Nova
Nova for me. I started using it for the dock swiping when the Galaxy Nexus first came out. Now it looks like the Pro version of Apex has the same feature. Honestly, they are verging on the exact same feature set. Someone should put together a comparison chart.
I prefer Apex because the free version allows hiding of apps in the app drawer.

Thanks for all the input guys. Anymore thoughts on the speed and performance of both?

I was using Nova, but I switched to Apex as Nova was quite slow on my Desire. Apex is much smoother for me. They have pretty much the same features (I haven't noticed much difference although I haven't looked that far into either) I would give both a try and see which works best for you
Nova hands down, my friend is currently using it and I have to say its one of the best ICS launchers out there.
I'm quite impressed with Nova, but it might be that you need a fast processor to handle it, because it's incredibly smooth and responsive on my Galaxy Note.
I've tested them both, and Nova uses a lot more RAM resouces, so if you have an older phone definately Apex, and i think Apex is better in features too.

[Q] Help with 'Launchers'

Hi people,
I'm looking for suggestions for a launcher that is good for both BATTERY LIFE and CUSTOMIZATION.
I've been using GO LAUNCHER EX for a long time now and found it really good, but there seems to be LOADS of you out there that use NOVA instead and i was wondering why this was... would you say Nova is better for battery life and customization over Go Launcher??
Thanks in advance...
I go for Nova because of its simplicity and more ICS looks

[Q] Does go launcher consume more battery?

Hi guys just switched to go launcher ex (latest version) from original touchwiz on stock ics 4.0.4. It seems like it is consuming more battery on standby, i was wondering if others who use it notice that?
Also if i move go launcher app + theme to system, and integrate it into the rom, would that help in terms of consuming less battery? any tips?
Thanks
Yea, Go Launcher eats more battery.
Why don't you try Apex Launcher?
Go Launcher is very rich in features but consumes more battery due to that, because it uses more RAM.
Apex or Nova are very good indeed.

I have used go laucher ex before on my old htc and i am quite used to that. Does apex consume less battery? any other advantages of apex? thanks
Yes, it consume less battery, and Apex has many features:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.anddoes.launcher
AFAIK yes, it drains a little bit more battery.
I'm using Dorimanx kernel (usually battery friendly), but with go launcher was a professional battery drainer...
now I switched to the default JB launcher ... much better (in terms of battery):good:
That's odd I've found Go Launcher to be the most battery friendly.
When I tried Apex I felt the battery wasn't as good.
I guess like all battery questions, it comes down to how you use your phone.

I am using apex laucher pro now on my s2 and it seems to be good and better than go launcher in terms of battery. However apex does feel abit laggy at times plus it dont have much extras like go launcher. But i guess you cant get everything. Cheers for comments nevertheless. Btw do you keep your go launcher app as system app integrated in rom? Or just installed as normal?
Lets try nova launcher. Its very smooth and cool.
