[Q] How to change alarm tone/music?? - Galaxy S II Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hey guys,
Is there any way to change alarm tone automatically?? You know each time i have to change while setting up alarm... i hate the good morning tone/melody ,drives me crazy in the morning. and i hate to change it manually everytime from alarm settings.
If there is a way to delete it or you know make a new melody selection(automatic) and if you can tell me i ll be appriciated.
Thanks.

is there anyone who knows the answer??

Create \notifications, \ringtones, \alarms on the root of internal storage. It ought to work. As I understand, you would like a custom tone for your alarm. Correct me if I'm mistaken.

I think he's talking about the default tone when you "create" an alarm. Never noticed there's no way to change it (that i can find), as I use the 3 alarms i have already defined and rarely create a new one.

Any suggestions for reminder app?

I have a few personal tasks that i need to do at a specific time of the day and at time i am too busy and forget about it
I am looking for an app that will pop up reminder (and play sound) at a set time. Also need to be able to do repeat event so i dont have to program it everyday. So it sort of like the calender that come with android but since the calender on the galaxy does not allow me to customize the reminder ring tone. I cant hear a "beep" when i am in a busy environment.
Thanks for any suggestions.
I just use the alarm on the clock app
you can use the alarm clock on the phone
you can set the exact time.the ringtone it plays.
and you can set the days you want it to ring
Oh DUH!!! i'm thinking too hard. Thanks for your helps. It did exactly what i wanted.

[Q] Built in alarm tones location?

Im trying to find where some of the built in alarm sounds are on the phone. In particular the 'Smart Alarm' sound 'light' as id like to use this also as the main alarm, however it is only visible in the menu for smart alarm and not the main alarm, and i cant find it anywhere on the phone so i can copy it somewhere else myself.
Anyone know where to look or how to get the 'smart alarm' sounds? Or someone with a rooted device have access to the file could email it or something?
Thanks

[Q] Any others with this issue (ringtone/notifications)

Ok.. So I bought the wife the SGS2 as she had been waiting for it since the kid through the captivate in the toilet ;D well i did the root method and then just put cognitions new rom on there.. I do not know if she was having the issue "stock" as I don't know that she put zedge on it and it was working . wife i saying it was happening with stock as well.. anyway.. the issue is.. i set (she sets) the ringtone and notification to something else.. I have tried stock and tones DL"d from zedge and no matter what I change it too.. it continues to just do the default tones.. her notification is that whistle sound and ringtone is the samsung one (i think) default..
any know why they are not changing and any solutions??? also.. she is notificing that no notification sound is being made when something comes in like and email and what not.. any ideas on that?? is there a setting im missing on her phone or somthing for this one?

Hmm, I'll try to look into this later this week (going out tonight), but I do recall that notification tones for email seem to not work. However I may have just not heard it.
SMS and Google Talk notifications do work normally for me, same for ringtone.
My SMS and email notifications wont change for me either.. I change it in sound menu and still get that annoying "whistle" with every text!!
BTW I'm stock..

Ive noticed that you have to change the notification ringtone on the SMS application separate from the general notification ringtone in settings. Access this by hitting the menu key while in SMS app. I believe email notification tone would be accessed the same way.
This is correct. I did the same thing and now my notification sounds are as customized

This is the same as the Captivate (stock roms) -- you have to be in the application (messaging, email, gmail, etc) and change notification tones there.

thanks a lot guys..
i did notice this morning I heard her notification message was saying her new one.. however, i noticed that it was only when email was coming in, the text was still the whistle.. so I will go in and try to change as stated above and see how this goes.. again thanks.
this also helps as a friend and his wife still have the captivates and his wife had this same issue and it was "HIGHLY PISSING" her off so much she wants to get rid of it and get one of those ancient "phone" only type phones hehe

edit:
confirmed.. does work. for some odd reason, you go into text/sms app and when you go to settings, sure as s*!t it is set to default as the "whistle" ringtone and not default in which I would think it would default to what ever you set as the standard notification one.. going into gmail and it stocks to default.. so thanks again, working for her now..
Another 'gotcha' for ring tones if you point your ring tones at the internal SD/ external SD and then use usb storage mode to attach those drives, you'll get some sort of weird notification sound that's not any of the normal ones if a notification arrives while it's mounted.

[Q] Can you set default settings for alarm clock?

I'm just wondering if there is a way to set a default volume and sound for the stock alarm clock, so when I set a new one those are already done? I'd be happy using it rather than ones from the market if I could do that. Had no probs setting alarms in s voice either, but it's pointless if I then have to change those two things.
I am rooted if that helps with a method?
Ok, it's me, Doofus again. Found a sering in build.prop. Will back it up and then try changing it. With regards to volume I've edited my alarm tune (Dream On, appropriate eh) with audacity sering up a huge fade in so that dude should now be fine. I'll post if the build.prop thing works.

So so far editing the build.prop isn't working. I've also transferred a copy of the music file into the system file where the default used file for alarms is, but still not working. I've rebooted between each change.
Wondering if anyone had any other ideas?

Not yet but if we do, we'll sure to let you know.
Create an alarm and give it a name. In my case I created "work". Set the ringtone and volume that you want for that alarm. Any alarms you want to use can be dropped into the ringtones folder and will be accessible to the alarm program. Save it. In svoice ask for that alarm by name, in my case "work alarm on" it will show that alarm and time, if that time is good say yes and you're rolling with the tones and volume you set. If not say "Change time to "Xam" and it will ask if you want to make the change, say yes.
A work around but it does work.
Thanks for that. I hadn't thought of asking for an alarm by name and then being able to change it's time, all via s voice.
I did get it to do what I wanted, though in a roundabout way.
Firstly, I always use a particular song and with the alarm clock app I generally use have it set as an increasing volume alarm. I only need it fairly soft so I have the volume down pretty low. To do this first part I use Audacity on my laptop and used the Fade In effect twice to create my alarm.
I then renamed the song to the same name as the song/tone that is used as the default in the stock alarm app. Then using root explorer I replaced the original tone with my renamed song. Now any time I set an alarm it is set to my default sound and volume and I am most happy.

If the app is only in beta, the developers will probably add notifications in future versiones (if it's so important).
If you want to do it by yourself, you will have to modify the apk file.

Yes. A little more than sound. A ringtone that can wake me up if the danger comes...

Search in app's settings if there are some notifications options to enable sound. When you had enabled sound, you will just have to change the notification ringtone by downloading one, placing it into Notifications folder and switching to it in Settings.

Well, thats a good idea. It's a very poor app, i didn't think it would have, but i found an option to enable sound, thanks for that!
But if I switch notification sound to a ringtone, every time i get push notification (from other apps) it will sing for me? No way to specify that just for this app the phone need to use that music?

I don't think that you can select one ringtone just for this app. It will change the notification's ringtone for all apps

I see.
Thank you anyway. It's enough. I will turn off all other notifications.
You've saved my villages!
