Hello everyone,
I have major problems with my htc desire. It was running on cyanogen mod 7 then all of a sudden it started going very slow, the animation and application were very very slow. Also, the phone seemed like to freeze because the hour would stop running thus being late. And the worse, at some point the phone just goes off and restart, also very slowly.
Oh and I forgot, when it goes suddenly slow and I touch it,it vibrates.
Here it is, I tried to change the rom several times and now I am on leedroid 2.5 but it still has the same problem.
Does anyone know what to do ?
Thank you very much
Flash different kernel, try to clear cache, may be an issue on your Rom too

Where can I find kernels ? And can I use any ones with the leedroid 2.5 rom ?
Depends on the kernel.go to your desire development zone, search for thread started with [kernel]
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium
And how exactly can I change the kernel please ? Do I just flash it ?
Yes, you just flash it in recovery like you would flash a ROM. But make sure you use a kernel that is compatible with AOSP.
Well I flashed this one kernel-bravo-2.6.32.38-leedroid-110416 but I still have the same problem...
Have you tried flashing to stock and testing if issue persists? Basically if it isnt the ROM, kernel, or a non-stock app, (one you installed) it's a hardware issue.
Can also try to see whats causing the slowdown either with a process or memory manager.
A little possibility that your apps make these weird things:
Try to think what have you installed before this.

Hi, my syster have Samsung Ace 5830 and she told me that she have random reboots on her phone ( 2-3 times a week ). She is with Android version 2.2 , no root....all stock ! She have only installed Skype,Stop Skype and batteryminder ! Do you have the same problem? What can she do ? Thanks.
Does she have random reboot or SOD (sleep of death) and she has to reboot her phone after ?
She have to enter a PIN code... I thing it is random reboot
Sent from my Nexus One using XDA App
Well, I think you don't have many options.
1. Maybe she has an issue with batteryminder so she has to uninstall it. I'm a skype user too but i don't use "stop skype" to close it.
2. Try to flash her phone with a new stock ROM ?
3. Or send her phone back to her seller ?
It's really hard to find what the issue is when you just have some clue and no phone in your hand. :/

I had the same problem with my bro's ace.. tried factory reset, rooting.. unrooting.. but nothing helped.. but now have installed the new rom 2.3.4.. and the problem is gone.. been almost 2 days now without a restart... and battery life also seems to be far more better than stock 2.2.1
hope this helps..
Sorry to bump such an old thread, but I had these problems as well.
I was on a build of CM9 and this happened non stop all day.
I'm now using stocklite 7.1 which I flashed yesterday. And since then it has restarted on its own every few hours.
I don't know what it is, but now I'm thinking it might be a certain combination of apps that are causing the crashes. I have ES task manager, and that me interfering with the stock task manager that causes the crashes.

To begin with I don't think that is the cause and you shouldn't kill apps frequently using task manager, maybe you could try out some ram scripts (like v6 super charger). Also, the app "titanium backup" is able to freeze apps, thus leaving it installed but inactive (for the other task manager).
CM9 is not that stable from my experience so I can't really conclude anything there.
But as for the stocklite (which I assume is based on stock firmware) might have the SOD(sleep of death) issue, usually caused by having the Wifi connecting/reconnecting or when it tries to find spots. If you always leave your wifi on, that might be the problem.
I've had alot of different roms over the past few weeks and not a single problem.. CM 7.1, Batista, etc etc.. but now after trying to flash a stock rom since I wanted to go back to normal, anything I flash from now on get's the whole phone into 256 color mode or something. It's really annoying as everything is just plain ugly, even the background/icons all over.
What could one do to fix this you think ?
Searched a while but didn't find anything about it, not even google.
Can probably add what I've tried so far..
Flashing Siyah Kernel - No success
Wiping cache/factory/data etc etc.... - No success
Flashing random roms to try and see if it works when wiped and new rom.. - No success..
Take a picture of it please.
On my way home now. Will take a pix at once I'm home.

You can see it mostly on dark surfaces, and on "transitions".. even on camera pics. Just seems to be a weird contrast or something like that, everything is like more grey then usual aswell, even the battery picture when charger is connected and you have it turned off.
Have you tried connecting with Kies for a firmware update?
I had the same problem as you I think, cant really tell from the picture but once I updated with kies and rebooted all was fine again.
Fixed it by flashing a couple of kernals and stock roms from the original roms thread by Intratech.
YAY! =)
And after a simple reboot it's back. Hmm.

Uninstall Kies, and delete the samsung folders in appdata/local and appdata/roaming in your user directory.
Reboot and install again.
I assume you use windows 7 or vista. Not sure about XP, been a while since I used it.
I have exactly the same problem on my galaxy s2.
It happened to me after I installed batista70's ROM on my phone..
Whatever I do now, I tried 4 different stock roms, there's still heavy color banding and it looks like the display has got a lower resolution...
For example in the microbes live wallpaper the microbes are bigger and the black background has got some grey tones that do not blend in very well but are like banded.
Maybe you installed chainfire3d and ticked reduce texture quality..

It happened after installing stockrom+kernel, so no.
Did anyone find a solution for this?
It seems I have the same problem and it won't go away, no matter what I flash.
Seems like it's related to Samsung's mDNIe image processing engine.
I flashed cyanogenmod and fiddled around with the mDNIe settings, a few reboots and it seems to be fixed!
Weird that these settings seem to be carried across between roms, including full factory resets, wipe everything in recovery and flashing factory roms. I wonder where they hide to avoid getting reset??
Same for me after flashing founded on internet stock Orange rom GT-I9100_IDE_I9100BVKE2_I9100BVKE2_I9100IDEKE2. After that I had MIUI ics, and now Vanila rom, but this ****ty colours remained.
Voodoo Screen Tuning app is some sort of solution, but settings are not saved in the system and after reboot they are lost. (for me native SM2 A2 line looks like originals colors)
I say poop! Seriously, it happened to me too and did exactly what you guys did with the stock rom. I guess I will fiddle around with the CM too. Do you remember which settings you changed?
Yesterday I flashed official rom DXKL3 from here and colours finally are fixed.
Same problem after screen replacement.
Fixed by flashing stock DXKL3 as stated above.
Hey guys,
I didn't know where to post this, so here it goes.
I'm having some trouble. I'm running CM nightly #115. I flashed the Google Apps package from here (the one for CyanogenMod 7). Now sometimes when I'm in the Android Market app, not only does it FC, but it freezes my phone so I have to reboot it.
Scrolling through the app details is what causes the freezes
I've tried CM 7.1 stable, several nightlies and MIUI, but it keeps happening!
I also tried cleaning cache, data and uninstalling updates, for the Market app. Nothing works!
Can you please help me?

Yes, tried that. Didn't work.
thought it was only me and that my phone was a lemon but i simply left all cm an miui aside after about a year of loyalty and went back to an asop rom (crysis 2.0) and it really not that bad going back.. i mean its not miui as far as customization and smoothness but its mad stable with absolutely no issues at all and i cant see myself going back to having "a perfect rom except ..... "..
Happens to me the same. I'm using NDT MIUI v10 and from what i noticed it happens only when i'm charging it from the USB port and at the same time browsing the market (just market).
Browsing the market without charging presents no issues. From what i've read around it has something to do with static electricity (might be wrong though) because i am not using the stock usb cable, but a Nokia one.
I've tested with various kernels, nothing seems to fix it. So far i got used not to use the market while the phone is plugged in.
If anyone has any explanation or even better, a fix, i'm interested in it.

Same problem here. Phone totally freezes when downloading and installing something from market while is plugged in. I have original usb cable and charger. It happens either when plugged to the laptop or to the wall charger.
Now running miui 1.2.16. previously I was running GalnetMIUI and with the last update this issue started going on randomly using market app. never happened before with cm7. I didn't try wiping data cuz I'm waiting to do so for the ics miui v4.
The weird thing is that it doesn't matter if the phone is charging or not.
Scrolling through the app details is what causes the freezes (this screen).
This must be a flaw with the Market app
I made a thread here:
http://forum.cyanogenmod.com/topic/39058-market-freezes-phone/
It looks like I'm not the only one experiencing this.
same here..on cm7..
no problem with old market..it looks like market 3.4.4 not liking cm7 based roms
back to stock rom for now..
The same problem here.flashed many kernel to get fix, and relashing rom, even up and downgrade miui, changing themes, but nothing help. I'll freeze on market when scrolling down.

I also tried 3.1.2.
It didn't happen immediately, but after I scrolled in app details in several apps, it finally happened. The bug is there, but not as effective.
Flash another older version.. till bugs gone. I also flashed another kernel.. i dont know if flashing another kernel would help, but it work for me, the bugs bunny is in the market waiting to freeze me when im on siyah 2.6, i flashed fluxi kernel, still the same, then flashed excell69 kernel.. seems like the bugs bunny has return back to disneyland. Im happy now.
But this is just for temporary, coz today there will be another version of miui will release, to flash new rom and hope this bunny will not appear again.
Ill post it here for you if anything happen.

Couldn't you identify and explain the bug so the Google Apps package can be fixed?
Hallo
I have a problem.
I have Legend CM 7.2.0 RC1.
It happends that I can not call anyone and nobody can not call me.
When I try to call, my Legend does not connect to the call, and when I receive a call, my Legend does not make anything (not ringing, nothing on display), but who calls me is hearing that it's ringing.
When I reboot the phone, everything goes to normal.
What should I do?
Thanks
Did you have the same issues before using that particular ROM?
Yes -> hardware defect
If not, which is probably the case -> make nandroid and/or Titanium backup of your apps. Wipe partitions in recovery, reinstall ROM and try. (and then of course resync your accounts and restore the needed stuff from Titanium)
before rooting i had no problem.
i will tre te flash again cyanogenmod.
i'll keep you in touch
thanks
Like Dawhe said it is most likely a hardware defect, the CM 7.2 rom shouldnt cause that type of problem but I may be wrong.

Now I have a ROM based on Froyo, and untill now, everything works.
I will monitor for a few days.
If everything goes ok, should I MOD my phone with Cyanogen 7.1, or 7.2?
Or better should I remain on Froyo?
Thanks,
Jarco

what i don't like to the cyanogen is the missing htc widgets ( message, mail, to do list and calender). is there a way to instal those widgets on cyanogen?
Nope. Sense only. You could seek alternative widgets on the Market, or use LauncherPro Plus, which have similarly styled ones, to a limited quantity.
Edit: I meant to say Play Store instead.

Yeah, you will need to download launchers that have their own dedicated Widgets.

I tried a stock based ROM for a few days, and did not have problems with calling.
I'll try now ExtremeLegendFuseâ„¢2|CustomCM7 to see what will happen
I don't know what's happening.
I got the same problem like on CM 7.2.
I thing my Legend does not like CM
Hmmmh,
Have you wiped the caches? Try the advanced options in cwm. Maybe this helps.

I don't know what can be.
I would like to format the drives.
Which one from those can I safely format?
-boot
-system
-cache
-data
-sdcard
-sd-ext
To restore everything, I would just update with another ROM.
Thanks,
Jarco
I formated everything now, but no boot format.
Could AGPS Fix for CM 7.2 make me those problems?
I allways installed this aplication too, but wondering if from this can be the problem.
I try LEgendfuse 2 without AGPS Fix and see what will happen
Legendfuse 2 not working ok.
I tried blay0 ROM based on Froyo, this is not working.
My phone restarts when I make a voicecall. Not allways, but it's happening.
I'll try the unrooted official rom.
I don't know what to do? What can be wrong?
You can doo so much things with a phone, but you can not make calls.
this is the worst phone I ever had. I'll better buy an 13 Years old Nokia 5110, this would shure work to make calls
I format again \System and installed just blay0 ROM based on Froyo, without any aplication, just stock.
Now it works. I want to see how it works.
I hope it is the Problem from one of previosly installed aplications
I'm having an issue with every rom except the stock rom with the phone automatically rebooting itself while doing simple tasks and showing a green screen. I tried enabling force gpu rendering etc but still getting this. Though with any stock roms (default rogers rom + the jb 4.1.2 for att etc) i dont occur this issue. What could be the problem?
Yeah this happens wayyy to often on 4.2.2 roms a little bit less on 4.1.x roms.

This is usual since we do not have the kernel source to make ROMS stable and not reboot. 4.2.2 ROMs are more stable then 4.1.2 so idk what you did there.

Rebooting on 4.2 ROMS
I'm having the same problem as OP with my i717 It happens bad on all of the 4.2 ROM's I've tried, and I know it's not the ROM. So far I've tried: Slim, Supernexus, CM10.1,ReVolt all of which I love! I really want to fix this. I start a game or other app and get a wildly flashing green, blue or sometimes black screen and then she reboots. Usually when opening a game or instagram, but not limited to those apps. It's hard for me to replicate the symptoms. Anyone else struggling with these symptoms on 4.2 roms? It seems less often on 4.1.2 ROM. When I restore a Blackstar ICS setup from twrp the phone runs beautifully. I've used darkside super-wipe hoping that would help. I've also tried changing recovery. Now I'm running out of things to try. I feel like somethings not being cleaned properly before install but I'm new so I don't really know.
Should I try using ODIN to flash a stock jelly bean firmware in order to sort of "start over fresh"?
I wish I could explain to everyone better my problem.

1) AOSP is unofficial so these is going to happen. 2) Is your screen flickering? 3) if so check HW overlays in dev options.

It happens to PACman ROMs too, try listening to music while attempting to cause the crash.. .There will be a loud beeping sound, followed by the greenish-blue screen, then the device will shut off, and reboot
I got the crash on trying to wake the device to unlock, and grabbed a logcat using Catlog.
