Wow thats good news
I think Coolya aka kolija will help to get CM7 as he is very good at it. All those dev who were trying to CM7 porting, please contact coolya so that ace community can enjoy many ROMS.

In v3 i will:
- make automounting /system to fix problem with some update.zip (eg. those for rooting Ace)
- fix reboot problem (wrote few posts earlier about this - samsung change to kernel)
- try to fix graphics problem
Also i'll relase update.zip so anyone could install my recovery on his phone (at ANY 2.3.* rom), of course earlier version would be needed (standard recovery don't have access to recovery partition).
For me it's already almost full working (only backup of boot/partition is disabled), all other options should work.

Very old thread you found
if only cm7 is sufficient then lots mdpi phones got cm but not get miui
and miui devs not show any sign to port to mdpi yet
may group of developers combinely make possible for our device
Wouldn't it be easier to just use CWM v5 ?

Noob question about developing a TW rom

I want to try to develop a TW rom on the Vibrant. I'm running into one problem: where do I get the source for the stock Vibrant rom? I have setup the dev environment to work with the AOSP roms before, but where do I checkout the Samsung TW rom? Do I need to decompile the JFD rom and start there?
TIA

There's no source. You've got to smali hack your way through it .
Start with a deodexed build posted by Whitehawk, then work your way from there.
Thanks! I'll dig further into it!

If I were you I would develop a 2.3.4 JVQ rom since that is the latest and greatest and you can find the deodexed build here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=948790

Ics aosp like calling and answering on samsung ics builds

Will it possible to make Ics aosp like calling and call recieving on samsung ics builds ?
Please give a solution mates
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk 2
Please anyone reply me....
Theme it
If you wants the AOSP experience, my first advice would be flash a AOSP rom, Ressurection is my fave AOSP rom (technically AOKP)
but if you only want the look, not the rom experience, flash the ICS Domination theme, gives the phone an amazing AOSP look
Here's a link to that thread

i dont think so. your best bet is to just flash a custom rom if you want the ics call experience.

Github

Does the galaxy player line have a github repo? I have picked to build an aosp gingerbread rom for an independent study at my school and the rules are that it has to be pure aosp and I figured that building from scratch would be the easiest way because touchwiz is deeply integrated into the software in the device. If I can't do it from the github, does anyone have experience for building aosp?

which galaxy player ? the 4.0 and the 5.0 have cm9 and cm7 which are essentially aosp so you'll need to contact the developers...look at the development forum to see who they are
Its for the 5.0, the ROM I need to build can not already exist and must be a nexus-like ROM with gapps installed such as the nexus s gingerbread ROM. Nothing more nothing less and everything must work

that's the problem, the current cm7 rom has some issues and no one is working on them because cm9 is a bigger priority, you should ask gmillz for help as he seems one of the main 5.0 devs at the moment
I just want aosp such as the apex rom for the droid x or something similar, it cant be a cyanogenmod rom because those are already being worked on and I cant use generic ginger because its not mine and its not fully aosp
Try building AOSP from source. Use gmillz's device tree as it is the most stable atm. I'm also working on an experimental device tree which may or may not fix some issues so you could also use that if you want

Oh right sorry. I didn't read your initial post properly. These github repos are for CM9. You can build CM7 pretty easily as it doesn't require any propriety files as hardware acceleration is not usually enabled in GB roms. Sorry for the confusion
I can't do any cyanogenmod Roms, it has to be a nexus like ROM. As in stock 2.3.3 you would find on the nexus s

In that case try building AOSP gingerbread. I'm fairly certain that there are some instructions from Google on how to do so

Thank you, I am really new so I don't completely understand googles directions for building aosp, the part I don't understand is how the kernel and ROM is built after you sync the repos. Don't you need drivers and to link the kernel with the ROM? It just doesn't make sense to me yet

Hello,
I did some research and I discovered that Player 3.6 has the same CPU as:
-Motorola DEFY + (MB526)
-Motorola Droid 2
However, the Defy + a:
- CyanogenMod + CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1795647
and
- http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1566861
And Droid 2: http://www.clockworkmod.com/rommanager/developers/droid2?name=Motorola% 202% 20Droid
Is that this could help to advance the device tree?
thank you

It would need to have the same board, not only the same CPU, if it does have any other similar hardware then it may help.
Board ?
I saw this :
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedet...ro25&D=Samsung+Galaxy+Player&testgroup=system
and
http://www.glbenchmark.com/phonedet...sung+YP-G1+Galaxy+Player+4.0&testgroup=system
--> the Player 3.6 has the same board as the Player 4.0
Intressting ?
Update :
The Player Player 3.6 and 4.0 are almost identical except for the CPU and screen size!
Then the two might be able to help each other out such as graphics drivers/WiFi drivers etc.

cm for trend plus (GT-S7580

Someone please make CyanogenMod for Samsung Galaxy Trend Plus GT-S7580. I and other guys who owns that device would be very happy about it. If someone does that post the recovery install package here and post it to cyanogen mod so they add it to the easy installer. I want CWM recovery for my device too but its not so important.

The only way you will have an cm, I tried diffrent version and no one worked. Do u have an big sdcard? If so, go to the cwm and backup your rom. put it on a zip and send to the cyanogen mod crew, so they can port it.
My sd card is very small but i know someone knows how to make and mod roms because i know a little bit how it works but not much

I can port cm if someone can make the kernel compatible with cm we will have a custom ROM. It's easier to do then most of u think.
UPDATE: I will do needed edits in our stock kernel to get it to boot into cm10.2. However we will still need a proper kernel compiled to have it fully working. Doing it this way will break some functions but I will do my very best to fix bugs. I will get it to the stage of making calls SMS and data working then I will pass the ROM on to other developers to take over. That's best I can offer. Thanks
If you know any kernel developers please get them to PM me thanks

Hey mate, I've just got a Galaxy Trend Plus (GT-S7580) and I started to look for some custom ROMs, but I can't find much about it, do you know something about any development progress with custom ROMs for this device?
Thanks in advance!

I'm also interested in some CM ROM for this phone. Unfortunately it looks like no custom ROM is available yet. I'm afraid I have to learn how to create one

Is there anybody who can port CM for this phone? I would very appreciate it. I own this phone so if there is someone willing to do this I am ready to help him if he will need something from the phone - files, etc. ( I do not actually know what is needed for porting the ROM.)

Unfortionally its not so easy
We must build from scratch without any compatible sources..
I have some friends ( @SeannyM @wulsic) who also ported cm to their device without any sources so i can ask their help when i start with it.
