I'm running CM7.1 nightly 157.
I plug my phone into the charger at night, when I wake up the battery is around 80-90%
With Froyo the battery would stop charging at 100%, but then start charging again when the battery dropped below 95%, so I would have at least 95% (usually 100%) when I unplugged it in the morning.
CM7 is not doing this. It seems that the battery is charging to 100% then charging shuts off. Is this a CM7 thing, a kernel thing, or a Gingerbread thing?
More importantly, is there a fix to get Froyo-like charging behavior?
It was a very annoying Samsung Gingerbread JVx bug, but since CM7 doesnt use that firmware it shouldn't happen..
I'm on CM7.1 stable and it stays at 100, maybe just that nightly
I'm running muiu and do not have this issue

Can someone tell me why CM7 is so good compared to other ROMs? For instance, MIUI?

Yea, I was thinking that after I posted this message. Sorry. And I just realized I can multi-quote so sorry again for spamming.
I dunno. I kinda like the other question better
CM7 isn't better than MIUI. It's just different. I've used both and prefer MIUI due to the customization options (theming), though I miss the lockscreen gestures from CM7 and the ability to get rid of that pesky voicemail notification.
To the OP, have you tried changing kernels? Perhaps Glitch, Bali or Neo Platypus?

Please not responses like "depends on you. It really depends on what you want" none of that

I personally like MIUI LE Lithium Vr. 3.1. It is very stable and is highly customizable.
Miui with that new mod in the Dev section, its like the only mod for Miui so you'll findit.
Stable and beautiful comes with stock Miui.
Better battery life comes with the mod

Smoothest and BEST rom ive tried was Bionix next gen V2 with immortality 2.2 kernel.
Its so smooth. But remember, the tw launcher on the rom is messed up. You need to download a new launcher from the market I prefer go launcher.
You won't regret it, trust me!

From the battery life, to stability, to the GPS, everything's just better. Plus, since Netflix works on Froyo now, I'm not missing much. The only thing I am missing out on is gtalk with the ffc. But even then, I didn't really use it all that much.
Not much I was getting out of 2.3 except for worse battery life and poor GPS performance.
Also, being able to call 911 doesn't hurt either.

Hrmm. I have yet to get 24 hours of battery life out of any Gingerbread ROM - regardless of build or kernel.
And I know you're lying about the GPS. Or just misinformed. Or something. But the GPS is nowhere close to what I get on Bionix 1.3.1
That's absurd to say don't reply with depends on what you need, it has everything to do with that, to make a selection of what you want, LOL!!! Because everyone has specific needs to be met in order for the phone to deliver what you need or want!! As an example I NEED AWESOME GPS FUNCTIONALITY, because of my Job, and that alone weeded out alot of ROM's immediately for me. So you want to know what ROM's are best then again, for me I wanted full overall functionality with a strong signal and awesome GPS, and blazing speed and I finally found that with "Crazy 8 Froyo gone crazy with Ginger!!"
Its the fastest smoothest ROM I've ever used, got it OC'd stable at 1.2GHz, bad ass tweaks along with the V6 script Mod, great battery duration and the GPS fix using heathen GB fix makes the GPS lock with a 20Ft radius within 20 to 30 seconds and its a really beautiful ROM, and also can be re themed if you don't like the stock looks. Which I happen to like, so I left it alone. So there ya go, that's what works for me, If I didn't need GPS I might have gone to CM7 or any of the others, Simply Honey never worked out for me because of issues, and so on!! So again what works for me, may not be YOUR agenda!! But that's your choice and you asked for opinions, here ya go!!
The one that makes my peener the hardest.

Hey guys,
I'm no babby to installing beta software or flashing or any of this business. However, I'm just wondering if CM7 is ready for so-called "prime time" on the Atrix yet. I don't really care about the fingerprint sensor or webtop at all. Sans those two things how is everything else working on there these days? How is battery life and overall system stability?

From my experience its great. Battery life is identical to a blur rom, and performance is very good. Also no stability issues that I've seen.
It's my daily driver. Best experience on the Atrix yet for me. Battery life is great. I usually get through the whole day. now that it's merged it should just get better and better. I'd suggest it.

Just do it.... it's technically out of beta now.
Only things that don't work:
- Finger Print Scanner
- Webtop
- Horizontal HDMI Mirroring
- Dock Audio
As far as battery goes, that's pretty much subjective from user to user... also depends with kernel you decide to run... if you want good battery life on CM7, might want to try Faux's enhanced stock kernel & add some undervolting.
When you say, dock audio, does this just mean the audio cable that splits off of the power cable doesn't work? Does Bluetooth audio still works when it's the car dock?

Thanks guys. I went ahead and flashed it and loving it so far!
I'm glad you flashed it! I was really hesitant to leave the safe, stable world of deblurred roms and venture into fingerprint-scanner-less world of CM7. However, with it out of Beta I finally took the plunge and it opened up a whole new world to me. Now having taken the red pill, I can never go back.
CM7 is without a doubt the most powerful rom available. It is so good that it makes me hesitation regarding lack of fingerprint scanner silly.

I flashed the new version and i dont know what is happening but mine is too slow to scroll apps, change screen, etc. Does anyone here is happening samething?
I'm using CM7 and am blown away by the speed, features, and how clean it is.
There naturally are quirks, as its still in beta. The only major issue I've had is lack of ability to control permissions.

I had similar issues. I think they're related to the cooked in ADW Launcher. I just replaced it with Launcher Pro, and my homescreen and app drawer scroll smoothly and quickly.
As much as I love CyanogenMod its a no go for me.
The only reason I use the Atrix 4G and consider it a superb smartphone is because on Webtop and Fingerprint Scanner. Whitout those two key things, I might have moved to something else like the SGS2.
Too bad those features are not priorities for CyanogenMod devs I presume.

Why don't you use Aura or Alien or any of the other custom ROMs that DO have those features? They're still way faster and leaner than the stock moto builds.
Where would be the best place to offer up $100 or start a donation thread maybe, to the first dev who can bring a fully functioning cm7 to the rezound. I know cm9 is in the works but from what I've seen I just like cm7 better. Seems to run faster and snappier. I just switched from Sprint to Verizon and had the EVO shift, which some how was waaaaay faster than the rezound. sure it was running cm7 overclocked to 1.6ghz on an extended battery. but Jesus it never so much as hiccupped whilst doing anything. and that extended battery would go for days. As a device the rezound could be amazing, but as of now I'm losing my marbles over how sluggish it is. my sisters Droid X runs cm7 as well and while not getting higher benchmarks like my shift it still has a smoother overall experience for non graphic intensive stuff.

Im skeptical too but it is being worked on although im not sure how much time has been put into it? Droidvicious is supposedly working on miui and the ril.
So i thought I wasn't a noob cause I've been reading these forums for quite some time, but what is an RIL? Also I'm nearly certain the GB Kernel source has been released for some time. Hence why I was quite serious about giving $100 to a working cm7 port. I figured it would be on the easy side for our uber awesome dev's and at least we could get some aosp love and what-not.
RIL = Radio Interface Layer. Link between phone and radios.

I know, but the hiss remains with it off, even on non-Beats apps like Pandora. It has something to do with the default gains being set too high (according to MikeyXDA of MeanROM). Over the last week or so, some of the ROMs have fixed it and I look forward to it being fixed in this one too as I think this ROM is spectacular except for that.

Interesting. Even with quiet music, you still do not hear the hiss? With my phone, when I hit pause, the hiss remains for about two seconds until the phone stops powering the headphones. During a quiet song, there is a discernable hiss the entire time. It makes even loud music sound muddy to me.

I had great results with Bionix V (froyo). I don't use GPS, so I cannot comment on that personally. Other people reportedly had no problems.
It uses the Bali kernel, and it had ridiculous battery life.
I tested a different phone for like 19 days, and left it on in a drawer on airplane mode and it wasn't dead yet when I went back and got it out.
However, I use Helly Bean 8/12 build right now and have had no issues whatsoever. Like I said though, I don't use GPS. I know there are issues with that.
The Cyanogenmod 7.2 would probably be the most stable I imagine. I'm always amazed at the speed and battery life when I tell myself I'm not doing any beta roms for a while.

I'm using Bionix now and it's extremely laggy. The battery life is good, but that's about it. I even redownloaded and reflashed it a couple of times to make sure. I'm not really a fan of Jelly Bean for this device, I may try out Helly Bean though. Thanks!:good:

In recovery is voodoo lagfix turned on? This ROM absolutely flew for me... it was starting to bog down right before I switched to HB, but I ran it for several lag-free months prior to switching.
For me, Bionix (fishmanmod) is the most stable of all. Battery life is excellent. WiFi calling works and GPS locks in <20 seconds. I've never experienced lag. (Make sure voodoo lagfix is on).
I'm running a nightly from CM9 and it works like a dream. I think mine is the 20120423 nightly. It doesn't have GPS, but I have a GPS in my car already, and that's the only place I would need a GPS anyways.
