After the pairing procedure for the Galaxy SII to the Vehicle (uconnect), it works fine. Turning off the phone and back on, still remains paired. However, if we were to turn off the bluetooth and GPS for battery life on the phone and then turn it back on when I want to pair, the phone looses the memory of the pairing and we need to re-pair it. This wouldn't be a huge deal except that uconnect make you delete the pairing phone and resync it, a real pain in the @$$. Did you experience this and am I missing something that can be done in the phone setting to not loose the pairing when bluetooth is turn off/on on the phone.
Thanks

Never had a problem with mine losing pairing. Has another device been able to hold a pairing to it in the past?
What's a "uconnect"? It doesn't rely on remote power being hooked up correctly by any chance does it?

Sorry about that. Uconnect is the Bluetooth service installed on Dodge vehicles in North America.
The Uconnect holds 2 phones, in my case a Blackberry and the GSII. If I was to turn off Bluetooth on the blackberry and then later reactivate it, the blackberry does not forget the pairing and they pair with no problem. However, if I was to turn off the Bluetooth on the GSII, it seems to forget and I need to start the whole pairing process all over again.
EDIT: lol, I'm a product of French Canadian bilingualism, I can't spell for crap
I keep my BT on full time, but just out of curiosity i followed your steps and no such issue on my Nissan factory radio bluetooth. Probably some weird compatibility issue.

I just bought an Atrix to replace my Galaxy S and I have properly paired and coonected it to my Alpine KCE-400BT. Calls and A2DP work fine once connected. However, each time I get in the car I must reconnect the phone to the stereo which also requires me to input the pin as well. I always leave the bluetooth running on the phone and in the past with my Galaxy S I never had this issue. The phone would reconnect each time I got in and started the car. Anyone have any similar issue. It's a real pain to have to reconnect it and input the pin each time.
Thanks!
Hey everyone,
Has anyone noticed bluetooth issues? I've pointed them out in other threads, but they seem to be glossed over. I hate to seem like a noob by creating new threads, but I fear that the issue is being looked over by most people. I've read a few reports of people having issues with their phones connecting to their cars or headsets automatically. Has anyone else faced these issues?
I specifically cannot get my BT headset to connect unless I unpair and repair it everytime I want to use it. Sometimes even during a phone call the headset will drop connection and wont reconnect unless i turn it off and on a few times. For reference, I've tried multiple BT headsets and they all behave the same way. These headset's also work just fine with my Galaxy S2, just not with my S3 (international on XLE8)
No problems with bluetooth here and I use it a lot (HS3000, Logitech Boombox, PS3 and Wii controllers too).
No issues here. Phone sometimes doesn't pair automatically with the BT kit in my work car, but I've had that issue with my S1 and S2 in the same car so I'd say it's a problem with the headunit.
Works perfectly with the Sony headunit in my own car, and connects to my mate's fine.
ok, what firmware rev are you guys running? im going nuts not being able to use bluetooth here!!
somewhat related.
i often leave my sgs3 connected to my laptop via usb when i fall asleep. at morning, battery's charged 100% obviously and phone isn't hot.
last time around, i was listening to music via hm3700 bluetooth headset. then later turned off the bluetooth headset. i forgot to turn off the bluetooth on sgs3 and again fell asleep while it's still connected via usb to laptop.
when i woke up at morning as usual battery's charged 100% but the sgs3 was hot, not so hot but isn't anywhere the normal hot we're accustomed to.
connects automatically to my car's BT built-in system. Only needed to pair once.
Works very well with my Sennheiser PXC 310 BT.
If I switch on the headphones the phone automatically connects to it.
can everyone please detail their firmware/kernel they are using?
i am on XXALE8, with the stock kernel
I have problems on XXLE8 as well connect it to my car head unit and it acrually crashes the headunit after 5 mins being connected . After the heaf unit crashes 3 times it requires a pin code. Iphone 4, 4s and gs2 connect no issues.

thanks for your input, i upgraded to XALF5 and still having the same issues. this is frustrating!!!!
Oddly - my phone will automatically connect to my cars in-built BT system, but it won't auto connect to my Jawbone Era without switching BT of and back on....
I also have problems, with my build-in bt in my car. Have XXBLH3. Connect fine, but drop the connection 2-3min after. My SGSII have no problems
No Ringtone through Bluetooth
Okay here is my problem……I want my custom ringtones i have set for contact to play in my Bluetooth headset when a receive a call, not that dumb ring. That way I will know if I want to take the call or not because I can tell by the ringtone who is calling. Why would Samsung disable this feature. my iPhone 4s plays the ringtone I have setup when I get a call. Is there anyway to do this. I ride a motorcycle and I have a device called a Chatterbox that let’s me connect via Bluetooth to my phone so I can hear my music and talk and make calls while I am riding. On my iPhone 4s my music would pause my custom ringtone would play and I could decide it I wanted to take the call or send it to voicemail, then my music would start right back up from where it left off. Right now my Galaxy i717 and my Galaxy i747 (Note and S III) just play this annoying ring and I can’t tell who it is! Any have a fix or work around for this.
Hmmm, the sound on my cars bluetooth gets distorted and only a reconnect will fix, and more worringly sometimes the S3 will not wake up after disconnecting from my car and only a hard reset will solve it.
My S2 did pretty much the same thing.
Just upgraded to verizon note II. I'm still 100% stock VWZ/Samsung bloatness. When pairing with my car (BMW 535xi) it constantly cycles the connect. About every minute or so, it disconnects and then spends another minute or so resynching, then disconnects ... repeat... This is for both phone and audio. My old beat up thunderbolt never had that problem.
I've seen threads where people have complained about it, but haven't seen a solution, other than the obligatory "reboot ... clear cache ... etc.." type of responses.
Is this a known issue? Is there anything to try other than the basics of pairing and resetting?
Do you have anything else you could try syncing your phone to in order to see if it only happens with your car or if it happens with anything? Might be a decent first step. I had a similar issue on one of my old phones but chalked it up to the bluetooth adapter in my laptop because it would never sync to it even though headsets worked fine.
I have had no issues with the Note II so far myself, it pairs and syncs fine to my Ford Focus for phone and media with no reconnects. I'm running Beans ROM and Perseus kernel, but I don't think there are any bluetooth changes there? There might have been something in the kernel, I'm just not positive. I know that doesn't directly help you, I only bring it up for encouragement that it should be fine once you get it sorted out.

thanks for the reply. My wife has a Honda Pilot that will not work either. Same behavior. I also have a plantronics headset but I haven't tried it yet. I'll give that a shot.
Please post questions in Q&A

nope, headset won't stay synched either.
Must be your phone. Mine stays connected fine with my and my wife's cars ('11 and '13 Acura's)
and stays connected with my sony BT headset while at work. No issues.
I think I've narrowed it down a bit. I turned off Phone Audio and the Media player stayed connected. I turned off Media Audio and turned On Phone Audio and it started the cycling bit.
Could it be because my phonebook is huge?
I thought I posted this but I can't find it so if its a dupe.. sorry
I had previously paired my HTC M8 to my car and it was working great (better than my S4 ever worked). I had to take my car in for repairs and got a loaner for a few days. In an attempt to get my phone to pair to the loaner I accidentally deleted my cars profile on my phone. I can not get the my car and phone to pair back up. I put the car into pairing mode and tell the phone to search for devices. When the car pops up on the phone, I click it. Almost immediately the car says pairing failed and the phone says the pin number was incorrect. There is NO profile on the phone for the car, its almost like it didn't delete all of the data and is trying to use it to connect to the car. I remember a bug like this a few years back and it required you to root the phone and delete the list of devices the phone had discovered. I haven't rooted yet and I'm also not looking forward to a factory wipe.
Does anybody have and ideas on what can be done within the bounds of an unrooted phone?
Also and this might make my decision to root easier. Its been a while since I used sense, Is there still not a way to get the launcher to rotate into landscape when you hold the phone in landscape?? Is there a custom sense ROM that allows you to do this that keeps blink (I decided to force myself to use it )
Is there a profile for the phone on the car? If so, delete it and start from scratch. Also, try common pairing codes like 0000 or 1234.

Make sure you have the advanced setting of "allow data transfer over bluetooth" or something enabled. Without this checked off I had the same problem as you. I think the setting is located in the bluetooth device listing when you try to pair the phone.
What car model, year, etc.? Assuming its a factory head unit, otherwise what brand/model head unit? And if its a factory head unit, do you happen to know who actually manufactures it?
Unfortunately, the Bluetooth standard is not nearly as "standard" as you would hope. The sheer number of different devices and accessories made by different manufacturers means compatibility issues are fairly common; and also makes it difficult to troubleshoot such connection issues.
Try to delete the device from the car head unit, as previously mentioned (if you haven't already). Otherwide, try to see if your head unit has a way to reset or re-initialize the system. Just deleting the profile for the phone may not be enough. Such is the case with my 2012 Subaru Impreza head unit (made by Kenwood, from what I understand). Just deleting the phone's profile and re-pairing causes issues (phone will not auto reconnect whenever the car is started, need to toggle Bluetooth off and on again to connect). But re-initializing the system on the head unit (then re-pairing the phone) fixes this. Unfortunately, this is completely in-obvious and not well documented. The only way I found out about this is from a XDA member that happens to work at a Subaru dealer and happens to be there "tech guy".
I received my Moto E last week and I've been using it with my Jaybird Freedom bluetooth headset. Unfortunately, I'm having a terrible time with pairing and reconnecting the headset to the device.
When I get the headset paired, it works fine until I turn it off. Once I turn it off, the phone does not notice the device or attempt to reconnect. If I explicitly attempt to reconnect it will fail almost every time. I can unpair the device, in which case it usually takes a few attempts to get it re-paired again. I've talked with Jaybird and Motorola support and they are pointing at each other. It seems like it may be some kind of compatibility issue, but I have no idea if there is any way to resolve it. I should add that the headset gets along just fine with my HTC One.
I have the device rooted and can go look in the logs if that helps anyone to help me troubleshoot/fix this issue.
Any help appreciated.
