Hello,
This is a hack to gain more volume on the SGS2 device running CM7. It is important to note that this is not an elegant solution, however should tide people over until a proper solution can be put into place by the cm7sgs2 team.
Important: This has been tested on nightly 94 by one user with success. I do not own this device so if people want to try it that would be helpful. Please take a NANDROID BEFORE FLASHING THIS. You have been warned. It is also helpful to turn down volume all the way off, then back on full, then set to desired level after flashing this. You will need to reflash this file if you update to a newer nightly. I cannot guarantee this will continue to work as newer nightlies come out but if it stops working I will update it.

Would this work for miui since its based on CM7? Thank you for your work!
Just try it

I tried it, not sure if it helped. I put on a track before flashing and played it in a quiet atmosphere (headphones obviously but still). Then i flashed the file then booted back up and played the same song and did the max/min volume thing and it's still the same.
Could be a trojan.

not the speaker! headphones!
Just a warning to MIUI users, it makes the phone stuck on samsung logo with triangle. It's not the OP fault, I just thought that perhaps it would work because it uses the same kernel
Nope, still the same sadly

Since this obviously replaced the previous CM information. There is still no gps support, correct? I know it was stated in all of the old info, but I didn't see any mention of it in the new logs. I just wanted to confirm prior to going ahead with the installation.

Excellent. Thanks. A simple "No" would have sufficed, but I do appreciate the link to current issues.
Does this mean that this CM7 is from the OFFICIAL CM people and not the things that our devs here made?

Official CM will be made from what we build here. There is not "Official people" as such - teamhacksung are the ones doing the SGS specific stuff for CM.
anyone else having issues flashing todays update? I flashed it now my phone will not boot.
Indeed. There were several posts in the development thread about it causing boot issues. It's only with the Vibrant though. They suggested flashing a new kernel/old kernel and that should fix it.

Sorry - that is only to go back to previous. We will be uploading another soon if we've fixed what we think we just fixed. But to get your phone back, just flash an older kernel, and then flash 5/1 update and you should be on CM7 again, ready for new update which will happen soon I hope.
Awesome. Looking forward to it.
I know these numbers are irrelevant, but what kind of quadrant numbers is this running at?
Curious as to the lack of GPS functionality, is it because of a lack of open source drivers?
And if it is, then why do other GalaxyS devices have working GPS when (i dont think) they dont have any more new open source files then us?

Amazing thread.
Everyone should know he also does not have a Vibrant and works mostly on the Captivate. The fact he is aiding us, speaks volumes. I hope you all appreciate his extra efforts.
I tried to make an install guide (signature). Its not perfect, but it may help (differences from the video)?

No, it will turn on. Tho why it matters I never understood. We will support low power mode someday I'm sure, but very low priority. Just turn the screen off, use quiet hours ...
Thank you for posting this. I have a quick question though. I lost my USB driver cable to my vibrant (I charge it via a plugin charger now.) Is there any possibility that I can install CM7 via the Marketplace (from Clockwork Mod or the another automatic install app) without going through all these steps?
I will be coming from Nero....
Thanks for all your hard work!
Quick question I flashed cm7 yesterday and have been amazed by everything except one thing. The color levels specifically the blacks are horrid. I can't use any wallpaper that has shades of blacks or it just looks very low quality. Is this a voodoo thing?

So after doing many hours of searching I truly believe I am the only person with this problem. If for some reason I have missed this problem already and it has been solved, I do apologize sincerely.
I just got a Samsung GS2 with AT&T, rooted it first thing, and flashed the UnNamed ROM. After having it for a few days now, the ringer volume and Alarm volume are too low for me to hear in my pocket. So upon doing a bit of digging, I came across an app called Volume+. I am sure many people know what this is and have recommended it to others with my same problem.
I say again, I have already installed this app!
However, after turning all the settings full blast, level 15 in most cases, there is no change in volume.
Reading more about the app, its SUGGESTED that I flash CM7 and remove the DSP Manager... but I don't want to do that. I don't care about removing the DSP Manager, but I happen to like the UnNamed ROM. Besides, they said they recommend the CM7 ROM but "should" work with others.
Any and all help would be greatly appreciated here. I am new to this whole thing, but I do know Linux VERY well and I am not afraid to tinker with things I probably should't.
Thanks again.
Any help here would be great!

Hi all I am running on HTC Eris the ROM Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P. using Pageplus as carrier. I notice that the in call volume is weak and I have a hard time hearing the caller clearly even at the highest volume level. When the phone was unrooted and running the original ROM from the factory it had in Settings> Accessibility> an option to amplify the sound for the hard of hearing. In Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P. those options normally listed under Settings> Accessibility are gone nothing is listed at all. I tried several apps from the market including Volume+ they do nothing to increase in call volume in fact the creator of Volume+ was asked about it in forum and stated because of Google in call volume features can not be added to his app to increase the volume.
What do I do?
Anyone can help me it be greatly appreciated.
I had an issue seeing the dialer why it was created all black I do not get but I found Dialer One which I can easily read and it faster than the dailer related to Condemned CM7 V13 R.I.P.
BTW I got this phone for free I lost my Palm Pixi at beach (miss it terribly) I want to make the most of this phone. Palm OS was so much easier to navigate too bad HP killed it.
Hi, have you tried flashing back to the stock ROM and confirming that the phone still does have a sufficient in-call volume level with that Accessibility option enabled? You didn't say how long you've had the phone and it's possible that the speaker has been damaged. I don't use that ROM, but I haven't had any problems with any Froyo, GingerBread or ICS ROM not having sufficient in-call volume. For some people I even have to turn my volume down.
I recommend [ROM] HTC Eris March 2011 OTA Stock ROM - v2.41.605.6/March2011_OTA_ReferenceROM_v1.zip available at http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=984274. This isn't a root ROM, but it doesn't flash over your current recovery, so that you can easily flash back to any other ROM after your done testing with the stock ROM. Be sure to do a nandroid from recovery first if you want to save your current ROM setup (always advisable anyway).
Also, a side note, that ROM's latest version is v23. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1030346 in case you want to update it to the latest version of that one. There's other ROMs, too, of course, like GSB v4.5.
Let us know what the results of your testing is.
FYI I use PagePlus too.
Thanks for you reply
Thanks for your reply I have tried going back to stock ROM and volume is better and it shows options in Accessibility. Maybe I should try a different kernel. I like the ROM I have it runs flash and videos with no problems and camera works etc. What the latest and greatest kernel for the HTC Eris?

So what about trying the latest version of Condemned, I think you said you're on v13 and there's a v23 now? Without looking I don't know what kernel v23 uses. The OP for the GSB ROM says it uses an unreleased kernel by Conap or something like that. Even if you don't stay with the ROM, it might be worth flashing it or some other ones just long enough to see what the in-call volume is like.
After all, it stands to reason that if v13 doesn't have a sufficient in-call volume for you, then maybe it didn't for a lot of people and that v14 through v23 of Condemned have fixed it. I didn't have any problem with the call volume in GSB.
I'm currently using the Evervolv ICS ROM. I love it, but mainly because it's the only ROM for the Eris I've ever tried (and I've tried a lot) in which using the GPS doesn't eventually crash the phone. I use the GPS a lot. But this ROM probably isn't for you, the camera doesn't work right I don't think. That ROM's author did release a new kernel for the Eris, the only released .35 kernel for the Eris, all others are .29-based. However, it too has problems like the proximity sensor not working and I think the camera is even worse maybe. I went back to the .29 kernel (the OP has links to both kernels ROM independent so you might want to give both a try. I also don't have a problem with the call volume with this ROM. Make sure and do a nandroid first!

Have you actually used those files (from the thread you mention) yet, or is that one of the things you're going to do this weekend?
FYI, that's what Volume+ does (changes those two files), only it might take additional fiddling with settings in order to find the right combination for whatever phone Volume+ gets run on, whereas the settings in these files are more or less tried and true good and hopefully safe specifically for the Eris.

Dsp manager will also work adjusting the volume levels. If you decide to try volume+, I would recommend uninstalling dsp manager with ti backup. Otherwise you could have fc issues on one or the other.

I tried Volume+ it did not change in call volume but the zip from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=797785 did seem to change it so now I think I am good to go. I do have be careful to not have volume all the way up because of distortion and possibly blowing the speaker.

Good you found something that works. Yeah, I think I blew my speaker in my first Eris, had it replaced under warranty.
Hello everyone, I've posted a thread like this before, but this one's a little different. I have a major issue. It may not be major to others, but its a big deal for me. Let me explain my situation. I feel imprisoned. I want the freedom to run whatever rom that i want on my phone. But the only rom i can run perfectly is Shostock2. It's an amazing rom, with a few tweaks and mods here and there, its the best rom ive ever used. But as an Android user and flashaholic, I want to try out different roms as my daily driver. But EVERY SINGLE rom I've tried has had one infuriating problem, the headphone volume is way too loud on the lowest level. This problem, however, has taught me how to do many things. I've learned how to decompile apks and jars, deodex and odex apks and jars, and edit smali. By learning all this ive tried to fix the problem by myself. I've tried to increase the volume steps from 15 to 30, but i had issues with that since the volume mutes at 16. I've tried running AOSP roms with Fluxxi kernel and used xxTweaker to decrease the volume level, that works for AOSP but i want to run a Samsung rom. So here is where i ask for help, does anyone know enough about the Android system to tell me which file deals with volume control? Or does anyone have a solution to this problem at all? I've tried looking for files that might deal with volume control but the only thing i've found is "AudioService.smali". Which is what i edited to get more than 15 volume steps. I really need some help guys, my poor ears can't put up with loud music. Right now I'm exploring everything in ShoStock2 to find out why the volume control is perfect in that rom and not in any other rom.
Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Well this sucks, maybe it's just my phone or something. Guess im stuck with Shostock2, which isnt a bad thing since its the best rom ever. I guess i'll try to fix the problem on my own. Thanks guys
EDIT: Btw if i do happen to find a fix, which is unlikely but possible, you guys want me to post the fix? Maybe here or make another thread? Not saying i will since finding the fix will be difficult, if there even is a fix.

Sorry for the late reply. School has started now. But to answer your questions, this problem is with corded headphones, and the volume is loud while listening to music, watching videos, or basically any sound that is playing through the headphones. This problem occurs with all the new roms that ive tried except for Shostock2. This is the longest time ive ever had to stay with one rom. This problem didn't happen on a few roms such as Phone-Bricker and the older AOKP roms.
So, i have a SGS3 on Vodafone uk,
4.1.2 Official,
Rooted the phone using ODIN and CF-AUTO ROOT
All was Fine.
Downloaded ROM manage from Play store,
downloaded CM9 through this as didnt have premium version for cm10 (Before discovering i could get 10 online anway..)
Held volume, power and menu keys to go to download mode,
backed up, with clockwork,
installed CM9, and now my phone wont boot, just shows the CM loading screen until the end of time, or atleast my patience...
tried to hold the 3 keys again, takes me back to download mode after pushing volume up to accept, but cant do anything further (or atleast i cant with my current knowledge)
what can i do to get my phone working again, and install CM10 successfully?
any help is much appreciated,
i watched the Vid before registering to ask for help and yes.... i am a noob at this.

Hey, i have my phone working now, i hadnt wiped it and it wasnt working, i had to go into Recovery, and not download mode, didnt know this,
i wiped my data/cache and now the phone is working, have had a crash today with the phone, and it wouldnt boot, went and recovered and now its working fine, except it charges slow as hell and actually DECHARGES when its plugged into a CHARGER :/, apart from that CM9 is working fine and fast.
i do however want to put CM10 on it, but not sure how to do that without using ROM Manager which i have to pay for, to have the priveledge of getting CM10 through it, i have downloaded CM10 on my pc, but how do i flash it onto my phone, i have Odin atm,
Also, accidently wiped my Back up of Android 4.1.2 Official, but now i have a back up of CM9 on my sd card anyway soo...
any help much appreciated, im tech savvy, but this is my first time really delving into the area of android modification.
Thanks.

why is it a fail? its working, and its stable.
not really much help, commenting with pointless remarks.
Stable is just a word and when you are dealing with Exynos devices it will never reach the status of 100% stable where everything works (except the Galaxy S I9000 with the hummingbird processor).
Then next thing is Sudden Death Syndrome from which ICS isn`t protected from.
Trust me you are better off with Jelly Bean. By now CM10.1 is easy daily driver material.
All ics roms are potentially unsafe if you have a 16GB 9300

No. You need to rephrase that or re word it. First generation Galaxy S line. Everything works on all AOSP ROMs. Its an Exynos chip. MHL, camera, battery life, no glitches, it all works. Sources are there though.

The Galaxy S I9000 had the hummingbird processor which also was inside the Nexus S and that`s why for this particular case developers were so successful in making everything work because they had the source code thanks to the Nexus S.
No such luck for the S2 and the S3
Correct me someone if I'm wrong but that`s how I remember it.
That's correct, but the Hummingbird is its old name, its now the Exynos 3. It is an Exynos chip. The Nexus S was why it had the source code released. None the less, its Exynos and everything works on AOSP
