[Q] Best MIUI ROM? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Man, I remember the days before the unlocked bootloader, when one of the best MIUI ROMs was Trip's. Poor dude got banned and all. Anyways, so now, there are like ten different MIUI ROMs on XDA. My question is, which is the best one? I'm talking in terms of stability. I don't play games, I just want a ROM where every default app works. A stable, fast ROM that isn't meant for gaming, but for things like video viewing, messaging and MSN and Skype.
My bootloader is unlocked, so I'm taking suggestions on MIUI ROMs that require an unlocked bootloader (even though most of them do anyway).
Thanks.

I'm currently using this one:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1304752
Try it
Trip is at Modaco btw, but his development for x10 is not anymore what was before cause he switched on Sensation.

I feel all the MIUI roms are similar with the same bugs still there. so, you can try anyone of them which is available on XDA. I am using TripnRaver Beta and it is available in modaco forums. Almost everything is working fine including screen on and off animation! So give atry!

Yeah, but this is fully working GB MIUI rom.
Except there is no GTalk on it, but I fixed that too

I'm using Prime Unleashed, Installed it about three days ago, so far I'm liking it, it has working wifi and usb hotspot, barcode scanner, no data bug, the only thing that doesn't work is the built-in screenshot app (you can use any other from the market) and the theme preview app doesn't show a preview of all your themes but you can still use themes... http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1295089

A1exander's M1U1 1.10.21 V8. The first MIUI I used and no issues yet. The only thing I miss in MIUI is the menu and timescape.

I am using Oodie's Miui, the only thing which hurts is, it consumes RAM very fast becomes laggy after some hours, but just reboot once n all will be fine again!

[Q] Which custom ROM is the best?

Hi everyone,
I must point out that I am pretty new to the whole custom ROM thing, I still have the stock ROM and everything on my xperia x10,
so my question is which ROM gives the best performance (ie less lag, good battery life, not many bugs, etc)? and can you give me simple instructions on how to install it because I don't want to screw something up and brick my phone, please?
Also when having a custom ROM installed, are you able to implement (install) patches given out by sony ericsson or you just follow the forum and wait for the developer of the ROM to make a patch, and if there's a patch from the developer how do you install it? (I presume you can't install the patches from sony ericsson, I'm just asking). And how often does the developer release the patches?
And do I have to delete everything with a factory reset from my phone before I do ANYTHING? at which step should it be done? can I backup everything using backup and restore program that's already aboard the x10 and restore it later, or the program will disappear when I install a custom ROM? if it wont, will it bring back my sms and mms effectively, and applications too?
Try this, Wolfbreak's CM 6.1.3 V54(fully working, very stable froyo 2.2 rom with CyanogenMod settings and themes.

I'm definitely a fan of trips miui rom. He also just came out with a miui gingerbread rom, it's a bit unstable at this point though.

use wolfbreak's latest rom. it's very stable with lots of things you can tweak and have fun with!

+1 for wolfbreak's
Hi there, as you can see from my post count, I'm pretty new to this as well. I've only tried wolfbreak so far but am amazed at it's stability. As far as I've seen you will lose SMS etc however lots of things can be saved to the cloud, so first thing I'd do is make sure all contacts are marked as Google sync
I initially found the flashing to be problematic, but that was mostly because I was an idiot and failed to notice that the flashing software also adds functions such root access and xrecovery when the phone is NOT in flash mode. Since. Then I've been able to upgrade to the latest version (06) without even using a computer. Simply downloading the file onto my phone, moving it with the included file manager and rebooting to the recovery menu
I know have a faster more responsive phone with lots of added features such as Flash, Voice Search and loads more customization options. IMHO well worth the twenty minutes or so it will initially take
Make a note of your favourite apps as well, as the market only remembers paid for apps not your free ones, but for me the change over was pretty seamless and after only a day and a half with it am more than happy. So much stuff is held within the cloud that setting back up isn't the mega ballache it seems before doing it
Wolfbreak's ROM is the most 'fun' to use, the most tweaks avaliable
TripnMIUI's ROM is one you need if you just want your phone to work. Also, it has an iphone-like look (IMO I hate it, but some people like it)
Jereplea's Gingerbread mod is for those who want to be active in making the ROM better and test Gingerbread and custom kernels. It's not really that stable, but it's getting better by the day and it's the most updated ROM.
IMO those are the 3 big ROMS, there are smaller ones and you're free to check them out, they're pretty good too, but those are just my opinions on the top 3 ROMS.

Thank-you, that certainly makes me more tempted to try the other flavours out there, as I said I'm new to Android fiddling, appreciate the advice
Awesome ROM i'm using right now is Freex10 Beta 4 (Android 2.2), with the video recorder fixed. The ROM is stable and excellent. Runs really fast.

If you want a really good looking ROM, try the Bitsnacker 2.1 rom. It is basically the stock rom with the bitsnacker blue glow theme.

If you mean THEMES, check the bitsnacker theme out for the x10 which works on android 2.1 stock and 2.2 Free X10 Beta 4 (for Freex10 ignore first post, check the second half way down the screen)

the answer will always be it depends on what you want from a device and its really your opinion and your opinion alone thatll lewt you decide
another +1 for tripnmiui's rom, pretty well featured
for me TripNMiui is always the best
TripNMiui with custum kernel
I'd say Wolfbreak's so far...
It runs flawlessly...
I've been testing many custom ROMs for a while, and up to now, the ones I liked the most are TripNMiUI's and Wolfbreak's ones. It's hard even to pick up one of them... TripNMiUI's has a great visual and is very clean. Wolfbreak's, in the other hand, works flawlessly and very stable, and I love that ARC's style.
Actually, I'm using Wolfbreak's now.

[Q] Fastest/smoothest CM7 ROM

Hello,
i am currently using wolf's v7 b4(i think)..and after some time it became very slow. Specially if i also listen to music it's very very unresponsive.(probably it has a little to do also with the fact that i'm using GO Launcher EX)
I would like to try CM7 as it's the smoothest. FXP047 seems to be perfect except one BIG BUG: Video recording.
i would like a stable/fast CM7 rom. Sometimes i also use video and in this case fxp047 isn't suitable as my daily rom.
so: what it's the fastest most stable CM7 rom with full working camera?
are the other CM7 ROMS much slower/less stable than FXP047?
What are the differences between others CM7 ROMS(ThGo2 for example or maybe ZMOD) and FXP's one. i mean at features/speed/quality of tweaks..
if you suggest MIUI(i don't like the iphone like feel and the lack of app drawer)
Thank you in advance!
I used Spaarc's CM7 mod but got rid of it because of the low battery life. It's very fast and doesn't lag often. The camera worked but I'm not sure about the video recording because I didn't use it. The wifi and tethering didn't work through the phone itself but there are apps that compensated for it. I recommend Spaarc's CM7 but I would like to know if there is another just as good that doesn't have the battery drain like it did.
thanks, but the rom in the link you gave me is not working'[ROM][DEV] Spaarc back Cyanogenmod 7.1 ROM | 2.3.7 | Released'
I think you made a confusion. Spaarc made another older CM7 ROM and i think that's what you're talking about: "{X10}[ROM][AOSP-2.3.7]SpartaMod RC0 |ON ROM MANAGER !!!!!!!| 2.3.7 | v0.0.1 | [12/10]", but it has the video bug
'Known Issues :
Video Encoder crashes'
any other suggestions?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147
this rom is very smooth and great i love it. the camcoder works too. i think that this is the best cm7 rom.
(sorry for my bad english)
I also think that Oodies ROM http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1384147 is the fastest, but I get FC when using ROM Manager(I know that is mentioned) or using Facebook for Android.
that's the one i'm gonna try today.
about rom manager i don't care so much, but for facebook have you tried to fix permissions?
Yes, but it didn't work, going to report when I hit 10 Posts. And it is Reboot not FC^^ I mistake it.
Sent from my X10 using XDA App
i already reported as i tested the ROM. Same bugs for me
and no autofocus in video mode
..and that's all in few hours. Very fast ROM
Later edit: oodie already posted a fix for facebook.everything working perfect now!

[Q] Whats the most stable cooked LPQ rom?

I've been waiting for ICS for a while now and sinced it is released last march 13 I've heard so many bad feedbacks and bugs from stock LPQ and not even worth of flashing.
After several days many COOKED LPQ roms are out. Can anyone tell me whats the most Stable, bugfree or LESS bug LPQ COOKED ROM out there?
I don't know if it is THE most stable ROM, since i only tested two so far, but i really like the DarkyROM based on LPQ.
Very stable ROM, only issue i noticed so far is that Chrome is not working (have to deinstall the system app and then install over Market, works until reboot).

I think the general consensus will be to try them out yourself and see what you prefer and don't prefer. I'm wondering the same question myself as well, but I'm gonna experiment with a couple right now before deciding on a daily driver.

I would like to try every Custom ROM but problem is i have a hardtime downloading roms due to my slow internet connection..
By the way hope that you can provide some feedbacks regarding on what rom you are using rightnow.
Some says DarkyROM and Resurrection are among the widely used Custom ROM. Personally I use stock rom with 3rd party Launcher.
I will just wait for CM9 to become stable and move out from stock...

So the lockscreen issue and MMS are fixed on darkyROM?
hi
that was my question too. i read alot and when xxlpq were available i choose galaxy rom.
i installed galaxyrom lpq since 1 day and no fc's at all. it has also ota updates for lidroid pack and theme restore. deep sleep ok, battery ok but lets see after 3-4 cycles. no contacts editing fc, wifi and data ok, market ok- 3.4.7. restored and frozen some apps with titanium 4.8.4. sync ok for contacts, notes and calendar with phone explorer. its a rom close to stock and uses apex launcher. i now waiting for jkay work. only thing is that scrolling is not smooth as in gb roms.
Answer has to be non .
How can a firmware be issued and a perfect rom built in a few days with no testing .

A little overview on Custom Stable Roms vs Stock 2.1

Helo,
recnetly i have checked few roms and used for some time with stock kernel. I have tried Ginger DX, minicm7 v21. And here what conclution i came to:
Best rom is....stock one 2.1, no matter what features other roms do have still 2.1 is the best.
Why ? here is a lilttle overview what i think minicm7 and most of custom roms have better essential stuff than stock.
Advantages:
New android market
Battery life
New android version 2.3x
Flash Support
Better sound quality on video camera
Disadvantages:
Bad performance
roaming doesnt work properly (in some countries it connects to network in some it does not)
native thetering doesnt work
user interface just looks awful compared to original stock
Photo camera application (picture quality is just bad compared to stock)
Opera browser doesnt work stable
So i just pointed the things whom i think are really essential for a good rom.
Now a little notice about performance...
Dont be fools, do not believe that 2.3 has better performance than Stock.
IT DOES NOT
Only Quadrant scores are higher, but in practise performance is worse!
with same launcher pro and even less icons and widgets on minicm7 the performance is way worse than stock rom. For example if i want to give a call and open contacts i have to wait for a second at least to load contacts application, same with messages unless i kill all the tasks. I dont have this with stock rom. Another notice, if i use lets say Opera browser or Gameboid emulator and then go back to dekstop, widgets and icons always has to be re-drew per new. This doesnt happen on stock. Overal even with killed apps games on 2.3 are running worse then on stock 2.1 (Where is my water? Angry Birds, Gameboid, Snesoid).
So is it really worth to upgrade? I think no it is not worth to upgrade. Unless you die-hard need Flash Support and Video Camera sound. Then yes. For the rest, no i dont think so.

bad performance - sorry but i do tweaks so mine is better than stock
roaming - dont need it
tethering - is there a native tether with stock?
awful interface - maybe but stock is well stock cant be changed
opera browser - mines doing great
I use MiniCM7 Pro V21 (By god Paul) on my phone and I'm just happy, stock user interface is so ugly compared to MiniCM7.
Only think I dont like is the Camera freezes sometimes while recording a video.
A Tribute to Blade Runner
After I discover XDA-developers ....
I've seen things you people wouldn't believe....... Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion....... I watched C-beams glitter in the darkness at Tannhäuser Gate....... All those moments will be lost in time like tears in rain...... Time to die......
....Time to back to Stock 2.1......
Sorry, it's only a joke, all opinions are wellcome and very respectables but, after I read your post, this scene of Blade Runner return to my memory.
A little tribute to Bade Runner.....
I think Stock is best rom... No bugs + good performance(i dont think in games )

Maybe, but on stock rom I can't connect via adhoc connection. I share internet connectio via notebook. And on stock rom it is imposible to connect on that type of wifi connection.
Also, I need ultra brightness, what is also weak point for stock rom.
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Yeah stock dont have usb and wifi tethering but in market u can find aps like EastTether or WifiTether.
And stock have best launcher for this device but I think this launhcer needs modification.I dont like this fact Only 1 widget at screen and no icons at screen.
Only corners
Sent from my U20i using XDA
I respect your opinion but I don't agree. Stock from is full of touch bugs, lacks dual touch, native tethering( works now with latest custom gb and ics nAa roms) . Also, we cannot remove some of the bloatware as it is attached to some .apk bundle and we could end in boot loop or even constant force close messages. I forgot to mention that /system has 20 mb only free so laggs are guaranteed... no apps to fat32 option. I tried many times to undervolt my stock roms with apps and .ko files etc. but didn't make it... stock battery life sucks.... gaming experience is cr4p.... I can't remember anything else cause I am on custom built roms many months now.... every opinion is well accepted.
Sent from my U20i using xda premium
Custom > Stock.
Only if you understand well how the phone works and how to set the phone's settings and features to it's minimum or maximum performance. And also, if you managed to tweak the phone to it's best performance.
Else, Stock is the best and only option for you.
Also @ OP, those disadvantages you pointed out, on the latest stable custom ROMS out there, all of it works fine now. Except ICS, still has work to be done with that version.

Stock is nice but i think the custom rom's have more advantages that cover its disadvantages.
As for me the only disadvantage in custom rom's would be the hopeless battery life.

not really i believe you can use governors in custom roms but not in stock rom. thats why i have custom rom so i can use governors and apps to sd
Prefer custom
I've been using custom Roms for a very long time, now.
I must say that, even though custom roms have some bugs, stock rom has some bugs also. And it lacks some features, which I consider essential.
The most important is the ability of saving apps in SD card. I know (and I've used it) there's link2SD, but I needed to root my device as well. Link2SD was very unstable.
Stock lacks flash and some apps won't run under 2.1.
Battery life? The same.
Stock apps? Great looks, I'll give them that. But some are very basic.
I needed to install some apps that come with custom roms. I prefer to install custom rom.
The main app, to me, is phone/contacts. Stock app is lame.
Will stick to cm7-2.2.0, for now.
Sorry to disagree in every point. I have a x10 mini (not pro).
I couldn't find a single advantage on the stock rom over the custom miniCM7 (2.2.1).
The stock 2.1 rom feels like a slower CPU and GPU, it's sluggish and lags to the touch. I think the interface is OK, with the corner shortcuts and the bigger icons. It was well designed, but I always end up unintentionally arrainging icons in the menus and the corner shortcuts because of the lag. Applications are painfully slow, including the dialer. As a windows computer: when I fresh install (factory reset) the mini, it's fairly responsive, but as soon as I install half a dozen apps it gets sluggish again.
Bad performance?
-no, much better responsiveness and performance with miniCM7 even with lots of apps installed.
roaming doesnt work properly (in some countries it connects to network in some it does not)
-This one I can't tell
native thetering doesnt work
-stock has none.
user interface just looks awful compared to original stock
-matter of taste maybe. I like the new UI better all the way.
Photo camera application (picture quality is just bad compared to stock)
-Maybe in older versions? this one works better, and now I can have instagram.
Opera browser doesnt work stable
-It works fine here.
I am a little dazzled because, in my x10 mini, things are about opposite. Everything is just smoother with the new rom, and the old rom fails me exactly in the way the new rom fails to you: it's unresponsive, slow, annoying, glitchy. Maybe it's just personal taste, or something is different between our phones.

[Q] Which ROM to flash on my Legend

Hello guys, I am looking for a fast and stable Gingerbread ROM to flash to my Legend. It's unlocked by the HTC Dev method, and I got root by using HTC Super Tool v3.
Going through the forum I can find many people using the Cyanogen ROM, but I am confused about the RC version. Every stable RC seems to have some issues for some people, be it lack of Wifi or GPS.
I use the phone for calling, texting, surfing, Twitter, facebook, Gmail, maps and watching videos. Can anyone suggest me a ROM which will do the above without much hassles?
ExtremeLegendFuse is a great fast and stable Gingerbread ROM and sounds suitable for your needs.

Unfortunately it always seems like some problems occur to only some people but there's an active community here to help. I don't think I had problems on the Fuse ROM though so all should be good
Ok, I installed the ExtremeFuse2 ROm with Google Apps. It's fast, and Launcher Pro is very smooth. I love the stock Gingerbread UI and the Wifi and GPS is working so far, no problems.
Forgot to take a backup of the contacts, so had to import them again, but Facebook and Google Contacts made that easy.
Facebook, Twitter, Maps, Market, Browser, packet data everything is working fine so far, thanks for the suggestion.
tested c.m 7.1 for a couple of weeks nad finally installed ExtremeFuse2 1 month ago .both work like charm. installed go launcher and everything works like stock, but better!!! wifi , gps ,data have no problem so far. so i recommend both of them.
Stable GB Rom?
CM 7.1 hands down.
Not sure about your wifi problems cause mines working like a charm.
