CM7 DVKF2 and DUKF4 I9100T Modem - Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

have looked around and so on and could not find it but does any one have the modem for DVKF2 and/or DUKF4 modem to install onto CM7 without them i struggle to get anything but 2g or edge.....

if you get edge, call *#*#4636#*#* , go into phone setting, and change your network into auto again.
Accidentally sent from my Google Nexus S using XDA Premium

by what ive looked into its just a problem of the i9100t and i9100 due to there being that i9100t has its own modem compared to the i9100
Edit: Have Found a fix for any other I9100T running CM7 having problems with Connections flash this modem which is the modem from Telstra's stock and wella back to normal

Hi,
Can you use this modem for stock firmwares? Or is it just for cm7?
And is this the best modem for a I9100T which I am using on the optus network?
If not can anyone give me the best modem for my phone and network?
I have tried googleing it, but all the download links seem to be down.
Thanks heaps to anyone who can help
Cheers coreyb

Bell Galaxy s II: constantly switching from 3g to h+?

Hello gents.
I have a 1 dag old Galaxy S 2 and it's all good so far. I have a question. The phone switches from 3g to h+ automatically. The it seems that when I am not actively transferring data it stays on 3g then as soon as I start downloading or browsing or whatever it switches to h+. Is this a battery saving feature? I the reason I ask is that sometimes it seems to be in a loop switching from 3g to h+.
Thanks!!

I'm having the same issue, but only since I updated to KG3. Originally I rooted my phone with:
CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4
No issue with H+ / 3G.
I then installed Lite'ning Rom v4.2 XXKG3 and the issue started. My modem (PHONE) was then updated to KG3:
PDA: I9100XXKG3
PHONE: I9100XXKG3
CSC I9100XEUD1
I reverted to a stock XXKG3, same issue.
First thing I did when I rooted with CF-Root-SGS2_ZS_OZS_KG2-v4.1-CWM4 was to backup everything. I reverted to my backup but obviously the modem remained the same:
PDA: I9100MUGKG2
PHONE: I9100XXKG3
CSC: I9100MBMCKG2
But I didn't have the issue anymore! So the modem update is not a fault here.
I did try to switch off fast dormancy, but it didn't change anything.
As you said, the phone goes to h+ when it starts transferring. My results with Speed Test remained the same, so I'm not to worried about it. I don't know how this impacts the battery. I can't really compare since now I use different cpu voltage.
Hmm. I will try downgrading to a KG2 kernel. Is this even doable / safe?
Thanks!!

That is totally normal I have that to, I think that is just for battery saving.

Yes it is, download the stock kernel here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1075278
ZSKG2
OR
XXKG2
Then root with the correct ChainFire kernel:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1103399
Please note that this wouldn't revert you to the exact software that was on the phone when you purchase it. The stock kernel from bell isn't available for download. Please note that I didn't try flashing to KG2 (only KG3) but I'm sure it's pretty safe.
Teslarage,
what are you running right now? You might already be to KG2... do *#1234# on your phone and past the info here
Thanks for the quick replies people!
I am running Cognition 1.31 with the ROM built in kernel which I believe is nepamphetamine (or something similar) along with the kg3 modem.
Would it be safe to downgrade the modem? I or should I try with a different kg2 kernel?
Sent from my GT-I9100 using XDA Premium App
I tried with a different kernel, no cigar. Same issue...
Weird.
I'm pretty sure it's the modem. Any way to downgrade it? Flash the previous one with Odin? Which modem should I install?
I rooted my Bell SGS2 within hours of getting it, but I'm pretty sure it wasn't switching (3G / H / H+) before I rooted it and installed a custom ROM. It is now.
Some people here say the switching is normal, however I'm pretty sure this didn't occur on the stock Bell firmware. Maybe someone who hasn't rooted yet can confirm.
I've tried many roms (Villian, Cog, MIUI, DevNull) kernels (CF, Ninpo) and radios/modems (KG2, KG3) and the issue remains. I'm pretty sure the stock Bell firmware, specifically the MODEM, was customized and since it's not leaked we're SOL. My stock Bell f/w (modem and kernel) was MUGKG2.
I'm pretty much a noob when it comes to Samsungs, this is my first so I'm learning as I go here. But I've owned a few HTC's and never seen this issue. My Desire ALWAYS stayed on H with the same SIM card and on the Bell network.

You can flash any modem you like with ODIN but I assure you I've tried and the issue remains. I think we need the MUGKG2 one.
I flashed kernel oz_kg2 to root and unlock and I always have the H+ on. I don't think it should be anything to worry about since this technically is saving battery. Can you guys confirm that your phones aren't affected by the AOS bug on KG3?

Did a quick search for AOS and nothing much useful. Something about battery drain? Mine seems ok.
I wouldn't be concerned with the switching modes if I wasn't also getting intermittent connection problems. Sometimes it seems as if my data just disconnects. The data icon remains in the status bar but I can't surf, download market apps, check gmail, etc. Usually have to reboot.

AOS is at 6% with KG3
Took 2 flashes.. first time the bug remained.. AOS was 20% - 40%
GT-i9100M on Darky's KG3 Base Rom, Super Core Kernel, and KG3 Modem
Argh. I can't wait until somebody releases the stock modem / kernel / firmware for Bell. I'm going to flash back for sure. I find my WiFi performance pitiful on every ROM I've tried and the issue at hand in this thread is incredibely annoying
It's not the modem the problem, if a revert to my backup
PDA: I9100MUGKG2
CSC: I9100MBMCKG2
There is no switching with a KG3 modem
Maybe it's the CSC file since it's related to the country and carrier related settings? Any way to extract that data ?

I did peak at /system/CSCFiles.txt of the bell stock rom but didn't see anything striking... Only saw the bloatware from bell: UNO, nova, the gps app, selfserve app, etc.
To see if the CSC was at fault I tried upgrading to two different version of CSC but the update failed each time... not in odin but when the phone reboots for the first time...
Im also unsure if my gs2 is at fault or if its Bell's network. My d/u speeds are very inconsistant. Last night I was getting 5 down and 2 up and to day I tested with my bro who has a HTC incredible S on Telus. He got 8 down and 3 up while I was at 4 down and 1 up. What I found striking in that test is that telus uses Bell's network and that his phone is not 4g. I should be getting better speeds I think. What do you guys think.

Yes, but it's buggy as hell. Best to stick with GingerBread ROMs for now.
Read the forum stickies and FAQ's in the guides before doing anything, as looks like your trying to flash a 9000 ROM instead of 9100.You can flash any 9100 firmware on a T version.
Here is a place to start:
[ROM+Guide]Official i9100 Firmwares KG, KH, KI, KJ, KK1/2/5, KL1/2/3, LA2,4 Download
Whenever using Odin, make sure you NEVER use PIT etc. Follow the guides exactly etc and you won't have a problem.
When flashing firnware, you might need to flash your carrier CSC, or just enter the APN manually. Also, you probably need to flash a modem (baseband) to recive better signal/strength/stabilty/battery life etc. These are found in the modem threads. There are some Odin flashable and other to be flashed using CWM Recovery (need root);
[REF] Galaxy S 2 Shipped Modem Collection
Edit: If the links are down, find/download with The webversion of Check Fus 2.0 and or download with the Windows Program
If your using Telstra or other 850MHz carrier, look for the T modem such in my signature (for Telstra).
If your unsure, best to re-read again and again, follow guides exactly, and also the forum stickies before posting.

i9100T modem on i9100

Hi,
I have an i9100 on the vodafone network in australia, but it seems that their modems are for the i9100T device. Would the modem work on my device or are the models different in any way?
Thanks.

As far as I know, only difference between i9100 and i9100T is the modems. So if you have an i9100, and you're in Australia, try flashing a modem from an i9100T to see of you get better signal.

[Q] S II i9100T

Hey, I have an i9100T and was wanting to know the difference between the i9100T and the i9100... Also whether or not I can flash CM9
Thanks
The difference between 9100 and 9100T is Not in the hardware but in the software. The T modem or Baseband as it's called is more tuned to the 850MHz band than others due to different SAR levels, so is very safe to flash CM9 as i've been doing it for months without any problem but make sure to use a T modem such as I9100TDOLP4.

Well.. I'm just going to flash a complete RC package from the Cyanogen website, I assume I'll need CWM for it too, I'm just curious seeing as this is a Telecom NZ i9100GT
So in this case why dont you flash CM9 Resurrection Edition with Odin from this link http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1419102 and that is gonna give access to CWM so you can flash RC package

I have T model like you and as i know no more different between with I9100 just modem is different.
Also you can use like I9100 because i always use 9100 official and many custom roms and did not find any problem.

Flashing back region specific modem

Hello,
My S2 originally came with Android 2.3.4. I then decided to root and switch to a custom ROM. I'm currently running Hydra-H2O Rom, AOKP, and I noticed my baseband is not the same as it was anymore (originally phone: I9100UHKG4). Now, after upgrading, I noticed that sometimes my data connection would drop, and the carrier menu that comes with the sim chip (Sim Toolkit) stopped working (i can access it, but it wont communicate).
So, I guess my question is, can I flash the modem part of the original GB stock rom and will that fix my issues?
Thanks for your help
Yeah, you get the actual modem file and either use Odin or ClockwordMod recovery to do it.

Thank you bro, although the modem for my region/carrier does not appear on any of the links listed in your post. It didn't matter because I already extracted it from the original stock rom downloaded directly from Samsung.
I am currently running baseband UHKG4 with no problem, however it did not fix my issue with the Sim Toolkit menu. I still cant use any of the options on it. Maybe it is a chip problem, go figure

useful info.
so, this means that even though people say the models i9100 and i9100m are hardware identical, in fact they are not. the proof would be that the i9100's modem corresponding to a region, for example to europe (with LS6 and LS8 supposed to work) does not work with i9100m designed for canada (here, MUGL3 and XXLQ6 are appropriate).
Don't worry, sometimes it doesn't even work for I9100.

That's bs.
Read my signature.
Mugl3 modem is out performed by ld8 modem on my phone. Location does not dictate model. The i9100 is the i9100, whether you purchase in Canada (the 'M' suffix) or elsewhere.
You choose the modem that works best for you and your phone. Period.
Don't be twisting words around to suit your theories.
