Cm7 issue 93 - touchpad not shutting down - TouchPad General

Anyone managed to figure out why when some users shut down from android it just reboots back into moboot instead? Have to then go to shutdown in moboot menu to shutdown properly.

For me the opposite happens. When I want to reboot to WebOS is shuts down.

Actually both of those situations happen to me on occasion. And when I choose reboot to WebOS, it will shut down. When I power back up it skips moboot and goes straight into WebOS. Im sure CM team is working on that, don't know if it could be a moboot issue or CM7 though.

Can't get a shutdown menu on my CM7 touchpad.

For some reason I can't shut my touchpad down. If I hold the power button down, not much happens until I release the button. Then the screen turns off. Tap it again and it's back.
Any ideas?
thats strange try a hard reset, hold the power button and the home button down for literally a minute or so or until it resets. it will reboot into moboot hopefully. you might have to do that and go back into webos to completely shut down. good luck
Thanks for the reply, I was just trying it when the battery ran out!
But I'll give it a go if the problem returns, thanks.
Ran into the same problem today. The power menu, along with various power/reboot widgets wouldn't work, but after about 20 seconds of holding home+power it worked and booted to moboot.
I had this happen to a coworker, after I had recently upgraded her to alpha3. I tried everything to repair it before deciding to start from scratch. The best thing to do is restart using the power and home buttons (hold them until reboot).
Then think about reinstalling.
Good luck!

I had this same issue today. I downloaded Quick Boot from the app store and it allowed me to restart. Worked great
just happened me too, it MAY have something to do with low battery, i noticed someone above had the problem with low battery. mine happens to be low too
also, i turned off lockscreen earlier, maybe that was related.

[Q] Weird volume button issues with my x2

Last night I pulled my phone out of my pocket to answer a text, as soon as I unlocked it, the volume bar popped up, went from full volume to silent/vibrate and continued vibrating. I tried to do anything but volume down kept interrupting everything. Even opening random programs and what not. I pulled the batt and restarted, it sat at the droid screen with the white "rsd service loading" or whatever it is, and sat there for the rest of the night until the battery died.
I got it to start up and boot all the way into the OS. It acts normally until i press the back button or the volume buttons. It then goes into the haywire crazy vibrating mode. I can get it to stop sometimes by pressing the Home button. But as I type this its randomly vibrating on my desk.
You fellas think this is a hardware issue or software?
P.S. I tried getting into the boot menu and clearing the cache, but pressing the volume button just caused it to hang at the rsd load.
Ur not on cm7 huh? Our bootstrap is automatic on plug in while power off.
Cyanogenmod
No sir. All stock, no root. 2.3.4
I was rooted before, but had all sorts of lag problems. After going back to factory everything seemed to clear up. So thats where I've stayed.
I'm considering just using my insurance and getting a new one (hopefully an upgrade to a 3 or something) as my case is fairly worn.... But if I dont need to..........

[Q] Can't turn off & boot my nook?

Hi ! When I reboot my nook tablet to go to the cwm, only see "N" button & sandbox, and then disapear & repeated many times to low battery. I can't turn off my nook. Please give me advice!
try holding the power button until it's turned off. (may take up to 20 seconds or more)
that's what i did when my nook wasn't working.
I try hold power for a while but my nook still repeat "N" screen and then sandbox screen ==> disapear & repeat many times like that to low battery. When I plug adapter to my nook, my situation still repeat. So, I can't turn off & boot my nook.

Leave it plugged in for at least twenty minutes to boot completely, then try to power off.

To power off the nook (if you don't get the prompt) is to hold on to the power button for 20secs or so. What happened with your cwm looks like a bad install, happened to me before. Indirect created a fix for the broken recovery already: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1463011
just read the instructions carefully
sounds like you have one of many situations, bad app install, recovery trying to engage with a custom recovery installed or bad sd card?
I would pop out the sd and try to turn off, if this doesnt fix, I would create a bootable sd card with a recovery image on it and try and recover to it. If you dont have one, you can try and make the r3 and use it to do it.
Thank you for all support! I'll try your way. I'm a newbie on android tablet. I don't have enough experience about android tablet. Thanks again!

Touchpad when "shut down" still reboots, can I fix.

I have the HP touchpad running CM9 Alpha2 and everything works great except when I reboot. I hold the power key in, the menu comes up, and if I select "power down", the pad still reboots. The only way to shut it down is to manually select "shut down" from the CM menu as it fresh boots. Both the "reboot" and "shut down" options while in CM9 result in the same reboot of Clockworkmod.
Is there a switch/toggle setting I can chance to make this thing shut down when I select shut down.
Do you have it plugged in when you shut it down? If its plugged in it will just start up again.
Yea, I really only get that bug anymore when it's plugged in. It maybe happens once every 20 shutdowns when it's not plugged in. You can try re-wiping and re-flashing, but that likely won't help that since pretty much everyone has this bug.
I would usually only get the reboot if I left wifi on before shutting down. If I turned wifi off first, it would shut down and stay off.
That's weird. I've never gotten a reboot when turning it off. All I know is that with clockworkmod installed, if you turn your device off when plugged in, it reboots into clockwork recovery. It does this with phones too. I think its supposed to do this in case you cant boot up and you need to restore or something. Other than that, I havent noticed it rebooting in any other scenario.

You know the old saying. "This is a feature and not a bug." I use a Touchstone to charge mine and either way, if the TP is already on the TS, or if I place on the TS after I shutdown, it will reboot to the moboot menu. I then use that menu to select "Shutdown" and it will stay off. I have been in this forum for several months and I have yet to see any other solution.
I had this all of the time with A2. With the past few official nightlies, this seems to have been fixed.
Thanks to all who replied.
Yes, I generally leave it plugged in...so that's the issue.
Guess I should thank HP for such a wonderful feature.
Anyway, I will either unplug it, or most likely just do the shut down from the menu.
thanks again.

I use Quick Boot to power off. I was having a 75 to 85% drop in the battery after setting it aside for a day or too.
The Quick Boot power Off fixed it.

[Q] Screen shuts off during calls - hard to turn back on

Hope the subject isn't _too_ descriptive, but I wanted to make sure this wasn't confused with the screen just shutting off. It does, but it is then very difficult to turn it back on. I have to wait a few seconds, then press the power button repeatedly, and finally hold it down - if I let go, the screen shuts off again.
Any ideas?!? I am currently on epinter's CM10, but have had the same thing with jokersax CM10, as well as CM9 and CM7. I don't think it's hardware as I was previously on Alien and it was fine. I have been through the mentioned ROM's and it didn't work. I went back to Alien and it was fine. I'm back on epinter's CM10, and it doesn't work again.
Incredibly frustrating - I love CM10, but it makes my phone not really usable as a phone!
Any thoughts are appreciated!

The screen should turn off when you have it to your ear, and turn back on when you hold it in front of you in your hand.
Maybe you pressing the power button to quickly, which is messing around with the auto screen on/off function?
You could also try going into your dialer -> preferences -> changing rotation options
screen shuts off during call - FIXED
THANK YOU! I hadn't even though that rotation options would have anything to do with the screen being on or off, but apparently it does!
For reference: in the default dialer: settings > Dialpad Settings > Enable sensor orientation
Fixed my problem!
