[Q] Scripting Error when flashing ROM. - Vibrant Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Well, just as the title suggests, I'm getting scripting errors when trying to flash a ROM.
I am currently running CM7 (latest stable) And wish to flash Team Toxic's Toxic8. It seems the update package was created using Ammend scripting, and that form of scripting was let go in Recover versions 3.0 and up. I have CWR ver. 5.0xx. I was wondering, is there a way arround this? Or should I flash an older version of cwr? Thanks in advance.

Bump bump, ba-ba bump it up!

Odin back to jfd....

Because on the different file system used by CM7 based ROMs, any time you want to move to a non-CM7 ROM from a CM7 based ROM will require that you first ODIN back to stock.

Best Rom Build and flashing process...

Ive been looking and can't find an answer to this question, though I'm sure it exists somewhere.
When I flash a rom (this will be my first, from stock 2.1 planning to go to bionix v) do I need to flash the rom and then boot into the os, and then back into cwr to flash a modem, then boot again, and then back into cwr to flash a kernel. Or is this all done in one process?
If just one process how do I get the build I want together as one zip? If this the rom builder in the bible?
Last but not least.....what build (rom, modem, kernel) would you guys recommend for going from stock 2.1 that is stable, fast, smooth, and sweet?
Thanks in advance. XDA has taught me everything I know. (which isn't much but is growing everyday)

Root your phone then install rom manager. Download Bionix-V and place it on the main directory of your internal sd card. Then open rom manager and boot in to recovery. You may have to pick reinstall packages. Flash the bionix zip. Then choose reboot option. You don't need to flash anything else. The modem and rest are all in the bionix zip.

Im rooted and have rom manager, titanium, clockwork etc.... Also backed up with cw.
Basically Im at the point where I flash. But with all the posts I read about the different kernels and modems people are using I got confused.
Wasn't sure bionix v had a kernel and modem in it or if I had to put that together.
Is there anyone that would recommend nero over bionix for stability or are they both just as stable?
And if I wanted to use different modems or kernels how would I go about doing so?

Every person has their own suggestions. Bionix-V is great but so is Flagship V3. They all include the Kernel and modem so you dont have to flash seperatly. Read through the thread of the rom you want to flash and I amsure you will find out experiences with other Kernels and modems. But the best thing you need to do is start trying for yourself.

[Q] eb01 stock to blackhole

i have rom manager, built my rom, and downloaded it. where does rom manager put it and how do i install via cwm
You may want to do some more reading. With all due respect, if someone took the time to write up how to you might not get it. The how to's in the dev section break it down reallly simply. Im "new" to this stuff and have rooted and flashed multiple phones and roms by FOLLOWING the directions exactly. Never even used rom manager. I used oneclick root method, latest cwm not 3.0, and am enjoying jt's vanilla aosp w nextheme

Installing Themes (Com Rom 2.0)

I just got my Samsung Fascinate today and got it rooted. I am currently running Community Rom 2.0 and want to install a new theme but am not sure how. I'm guessing you flash them just like you would a new rom? I'd rather not just go in trying things without knowing though and screwing up my new phone.
I've been using Miui on my Droid 1 up till this point and installing themes was extremely easy on that.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.
It's exactly like flashing a ROM. Select the zip in clockworkmod and flash. Just make sure it's made for your ROM.

[Q] Flash to stock JFD without Odin?

I have cyanogenmod 7, but it's way to buggy. I need a clean install, but I recently dropped my phone in the pool and it won't connect via USB.... Is there a way to revert to stock JFD on my device? Maybe a flashable .zip? or a full restore? I dunno, i'm pretty desperate and my device is fully backed up on my PC.
Based on my understanding (which could be completely wrong), the answer is a long yes. CM7 uses clockwork 3.X, which uses edify scripting. All of our 2.2 & 2.1 flashable zips use amend scripting, which is not compatible with clockwork 3.X. So based on this you would have to change the scripting on a flashable zip with 2.2 or 2.1 on it to be able to apply it with clockwork 3.x (which I have no idea how you would do or where to start) or get clockwork 2.x on your CM7 rom (which I'm not sure is possible).
new charger port bro. we went over this last night
hahaha i know, right? but i'm not gonna pay fifty bucks to have someone fix it, and i can't do it myself..... I'm a software developer, not a hardware engineer.

Sounds like a corrupted download - my suggestion is to re-download and try again...
Also, as stated in the previous post, it makes all the difference whether you are flashing an AOSP ROM like OMGB/OMFGB, CM7, vanilla gingerbread, or Biffmod as opposed to a Touchwiz-based ROM such as UKB/Community ROM, Powerwash, or Geewiz. It also matters which ROM you're already on when you try to flash the new one. We can better help you if you provide this info...
Another Fascinating post by my XDA app...
