[q] xrecovery sd card problems? - XPERIA X10 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

hi guys i flashed a 2.1 rom whit baseband .71 which caused an bootloop then got back to stock and after a week trying nonstop to get root and xrecovery i finally got everything working back i remember also that when i got into bootloop i got an error message when i tried to restore an old backup it was something similar to this : "e:cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or/dev/block/mmcblk0)
device or resource busy " and now i got the same error but i can 100% confirm i can use my sd card on my phone using gallery listening to music and yada yada so any clue?

You have new xrecovery? I had this same issue at one point and had to purchase root explorer to copy the new one manually into the correct folders.

I think i got the old one but i did purchase root explorer and my request to you is can you post the new xrecovery apk + where to install it ? And can you confirm getting the same error ? Because it used to work just fine

At this point I think the new flashtool has a button to install xrecovery so that may be easier. I can't remember which folders without looking it up and I am at work right now. New flashtool is on the first page of dev forum though.

Thanks mate updated xrecovery and all working good so far runnin miui

Did a SEUS update with 2.0.A.0.504 can't install apps?

Hi,
My sd card crash on me last night ruining my phone since i had app2sd.
so i did a SEUS repair and now i can't install non-signed apps now.
i'm trying to install X-recovery and it the details is all blank
Yes, I have unknown sources checked.
is anyone having this problem?
my build is 2.0.a.0.504
do a hard-reset and root it again ...
how do u hard reset?
I've done the SEUS repair 3 times now.
seems like the problem is not the phone (maybe) but the SDCARD.
edit::
i noticed if i format the SD card from the phone the SD will install apps again.
but if i format it with mini tool and make an ext2 slot. I will have the same problem again?
is making a ext2 slot with 8gb different from 4gb? I did the exact samething i did on the 4gb.
I don't know why i'm running into these kind of trouble.
it's a Patriot card I got from Newegg
thanks
Dude, are you sure you have root access?
if you are trying to install Xrecovery from an apk you still need root.. on .504 z4root should still do the trick. (I am surprised SEUS isn't popping .24 on there now tho)
Cheers
Kiwi
Yes I have root.
I root it using super one click.
I can't use z4root because apk's don't work.
I also noticed in astro, the icons for the apks are not showing up.

(help) x10 strange problem

well first of all thanks for your help in advance.
I had a good x10 and decided to sell it and buy a new one because mine is already a bit scratched and other things the former was a X10A and now I have an X10 if that matters somehow.
good considering the x10 in hand I decided to update it first modific to 2.1 with good first non-tariff flashtool restarted. do it again and go for a while whether the network data set, each time an application instalava stuck and restarted.
after that does not solve the problem only 2g sailing. to make root was another problem with me probelam flastool was a play. remove the battery and leave it outside for a while. then again in the place lit if root root but the best was with superclickone.
then install the recovery well to try to install a different rom.
1.7 of laversion install it in my previous trip Experia worked perfectly.
and reboot several times but the biggest mistake was that he recognized me in any froyo memory told me that was not there I thought that was the only rom that fallava but try other froyo and I recon all the phone memory.
the formative and other things and not do anything.
I hope you can help me thanks.
well first of all thank you all for your time
baseband good use the 49 is the one used in the above and it worked well but you're right, maybe because it was for America proves with another 67 or more.
well that was installed with the Sony Ericsson flashtool X10i_2.1.1.A.0.6_CUST GENERIC-TH 1237-0336
root and then install other froyo over several people and doing the problem is restarted as long as I showed the worst memory.
rom froyo good at baseband always use 49 did not try other that could have caused this problem but I do not recognize the memory in the rom do not understand.
But the most curious .. I can restart the telefonoy xrecovery enter a bone having a rom froyo I recognize the memory but when it does not appear but entered the xrecovery if I have it and I can see all of it I install anything but get nothing.
Also if you want to install a backup does not work xrecovery entered the xrecovery give restore Begins choose the copy and paste to work then restarts and I lose everything because the phone does not come over and touch me again with the flashtool.
to light in the rom 2.1 if you recognize me in rom memory but I do not like froyo recognize the memory but still recognize it when I enter the xrecovery and I can see what is memory and install things that are in but when I restart it and entered into the system memory does not recognize me tells me no memory mounted.
thanks for everything
I'm sorry but I don't understand EXACTLY what your problem is. I understand that you used to have an X10a but now you have an X10i. Is that correct?
You have a problem because you have no 3G? Are you aware that an X10i has different 3G radio than an X10a?
Maybe you should tell where you are using your X10 and what your carrier is.
For what i can understand he used to have a X10a and now he has a X10i, he was using 2.1 before and now he is using a custom Froyo ROM.
The problem i think he has (besides this is written in "engrish" ) is that his Froyo ROM doesn't recognize the SDcard, but still xrecovery does recognize de SDcard.
He says that he has tried with other Froyo ROMS but he still has the same issue.
When he does a xrecovery backup his phone always crash and loses everything in SDcard.
Corrupted SDcard, maybe? o.o
Try reformatting your SDcard on your PC with FAT3 at 4clusters or something ._.
OK, I got that. Then as CescVicious says, you should:
1. Go into recovery, mount the SDcard and copy the entire contents of the card to PC
2. Repartition and format SDcard either from recovery or PC. I would make sure there is no ext partition just in case.
3. Copy the backup you just made back to SDcard
4. Reboot and see what happens
If the problem still continues, I would try a different SD card to see if it shows the same behavior.
Or am I still missing something here?

Unable to Restore using XRecovery

I am not able to restore backups using XRecovery.
I can backup things fine but when it comes time to restore I get this:
E:Cant mount /dev/block/mmcblk0p1 (or /dev/block/mmcblk0)
(Device or resource busy)
E:Can't mount /sdcard
I don't get how it can back things up but not restore.
Thanks
firstly, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=859571
that would fix your problems
It won't let me do that.
Says read only file system.
I tried adb remount
But I get operation failed: Operation not permitted
you're going to have to go back and use flashtool to put 2.1 then root, then install xrecovery, then use Wolfbreak's ROM install instructions 4-5 and 6
Sent from my X10i using XDA Premium App
Got it working,
But I'm getting the same original problem still now that I want to flash Wolf's 2.3.
Do I have to flash back to 2.1 still?
I have this file:
Sony Ericsson X10a_2.1.1.A.0.6_Rogers.ftf
I got this from an XDA forum, cant remember which, and it says it's the base firmware for my Roger's phone.
Since XRecovery isn't working, do I just go into Flashtool, press Flash and choose the rogers file? then root, reinstall XRecovery, AND THEN try redoing this?
One thing to note, I DO have a spare blank SD Card and I backed up the contents of the current one. Is there anything I can try with it?
Ok something is definately wrong.
I don't think it's the SD Card. I switched in the spare card, completely formatted it.
Installed XRecovery via Flashtool. Ten rebooted and tried to install custom zip and put on the XRecovery 0.3 that goku16 mentioned, it's te exact same problem.
Does that mean my only real option is to Flash back to 2.1 COMPLETELY erasing everything on the phone?
/bump
Any other ideas?

Yes .., I have rooted it through Gingerbreak.apk app
I had the same problem few days back..Though i had to solve that by formatting my memory card
even thou did some researching and found out the problem is caused by a temporary file called smdl2tmp1.asec that is used during some installations
Solution was to delete that file..
even though i couldnt find that file in my fone so i had to format
that file could be in these two locations :
1)
/sdcard/.android_secure - this is an invisible folder on your SD card, which you can access with any file manager, like ASTRO
2)
/mnt/secure/asec/ - access to this folder requires root and a program like Root Explorer
found that on an external site..
dunno if i could put the link here ??
also i somewhere read it could delete your messages so please create a backup of msgs n contacts..
try restart phone ??
at least work for which happen for me last time
if still exist, unmount sdcard, take out sdcard, put it back and mount again
and restart phone again(wait longer then restart is better)
if still exist, google it for solution
good luck

PM me if you need more help
EDIT, make sure your second partition is at the end of the sd card, not the begining,
Also, just download instal-recovery2.sh from the link above and put it into system/etc and changer permissions to

Link2sd was also working fine until i updated it, then it happened the same problem he mentioned in his post. To be more specific, was after reboot that i noticed that problem, almost all my apps were missing (all that were linked didnt showed in app drawer), in link2sd was that mount error. Just to be sure, i made a clean rom install on the phone, installed link2sd, rebooted to install/detect the 2nd partition, no problems so far, installed an app, linked it, the app was working so the linking worked. Rebooted the phone, after that reboot, the mount problem attacked again. after everytime i rebooted, link2sd got the same error again and again, i tryed with boot recovery formating and with a PC partition formating tool. I had the previous version backuped, installed it and problems disappeared. Some guys complained about the same in a portuguese forum. the conclusion they reached was when link2sd programmer(s) fixed the 2nd partition bug for some devices, some others started to have that problem.
