Xperia NEO - Sony Ericsson Xperia Neo, Pro

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of buying this phone but does anybody know if its likely to get ICS? I mean, it can handle it, right?
Also, can anyone give their general views on the phone? Good/bad things.
Thanks a lot!

yup i think it's the best phone with lowerst price i try and this phone very easy to mod ( unlock bootloader , root ... ) but one thing i don't like that the hard button easy to scratched - make the phone look very old , the back cover the same .
it 's all my opinion ! tks for read

If you want the phone for awesome music quality, blindly go for SE
But, there are not much Custom roms and never will be(acc. To me)
Go for an HTC if you want solid looms, good feel and best cameras
Go for Samsung if you want best out of waste....lol
Never go for LG
So what you have left is HTC OR SE
AND
i recommend HtC, MY nexus one looked sexier than this SE crap, checkout SE Forum and you'll see that from about 1000000 requests for improving the compression in camera, there was no action
Rest is ur wish
HTC HAS ROMS MEANS YOU DON'T NEED TO RELY ON HTC, DEV's DO MOST OF THE WORK

Based on what SE have said thus far re ICS, yes I personally think it's likely, but still far from guaranteed.

Will likely get ICS after the launch of the Nozomi in March 2012

Hey,
I just bought the phone, Wanna tell you, Its a Superup phone, FAST, smooth, Camera is SO good, even in low lights conditions cuz of its exmor-R sensor, Sexy looking..

Just wait. You'll see after 3-4 days - battery is not too bad.
usually Neo lives about two days with battery from 100% to 0%
and it is not bad result over against other devices

Desire HD, Incredible S or Xperia X10?

I am a little confused...
Want one for my father...LARGE screen (as he exclaims every time he seems my HD7!) and a very fluid and smooth OS....
Now, I know the Desire HD has a very fluid system, but again, it also has a hopless battery life and a memory card issue.
The Incredible S is the closest option. But then the white X10 just caught my attention and with the Eclair update, everything looks good.
So??? Your opinions?? Is is a good phone for someone who isnt very tech savy but loves/enjoys having a a smooth, useful phone...
My dad seems to be the same as yours and he lo es playing with my x10. But he wants his own desire HD.
Either of those two would be fine. The battery on the x10 is pretty good in my opinion as well

With stock ROM x10 is very simple to use phone for someone not tech savvy. be aware that the phone is bit laggy.

Yeah....the lag was what I was worried about...Desire HD is super smooth and after liking that, I doubt my dad will even look at the X10, thanks to the lag...

But from the videos that I have seen, isn't the OS a bit laggy?? Scrolling through the contacts, messages, from one home screen to another, it lags practically everywhere...and lags EVERYTIME, not just once...
Yes.. With stock ROM, I wouldn't recommend X10, too dark (blue dark skin), not so reactive and I wouldn't change ROM for a novie (your father?)..
And not buy the White that isn't so sexy...
Try something else
Get the Xperia arc if you have there money.
X10 will receive gingerbread update in Q2/Q3 and hopefully it will be better then.

Like the question thread reads, I am confused, Desire HD is only because he loves it. Incredible S because thats the only one closest to the specs, and X10 cause it has a little bit of both...looks and Android, minus the battery and memory card issue...(I actually like white...its kinnda different and smart..personal opinion..)
or yeah, as said, take a look at Xperia ARC ;-)
Latest updates, open bootloader...

Not a very big fan of Samsung, but thanx for your advice...
Also, once the X10 gets the Gingerbread update, will it be as smooth and fast as the Arc???
of course yes but not to smooth like HTC Desire HD or SGS cause of old Hardware on X10i (Ram only 3xx Mb)
maybe you must wait for HTC sensation or other device with coming with new hardware chipset or gpu..
just suggest..
But if your dad like a big screen and smoothness go for Desire HD ..
and SD bug or Battery poor can solved by changing new kernel or Tweak optimized ..
Sorry for my bad English

Multitouch and 16M colors

Hello, i have been searching for threads like this but i found only old ones. So is there a multitouch or a dualtouch (offical or unoffical way) in X10, and about 16M color? Yes or no?
Dual touch yes, multitouch no...
No 16 mill colours either
And there is no posibility for multitouch? HW limited? Is dualtouch fully working or it has any problems?
Oh, I am asking this because i am planing to buy X10.
Sorry for bad english

I don't think multitouch is possible.

Well, in my country the best SE phone avaliable is Xperia Arc (350€ new), but i am not planing on buying such an expensive phone, because my life style is very active, so phone easily gets damaged + Arcs headphone conector is not very friendly for listening to music, while phone is in the pocket. You almost cant get new X10 here, but used x10 is about 150-200€, or as I am planing exchange my Samsung Wave for X10. I like X10 more than Galaxy S, because it looks better and because it is Sony Ericsson ......you can suggest me another phone for about 150€-200€ (used) but it has to be Android and it must have got good audio quality.
Oh, and another question. Can I load offical 2.3.3 SE ROM to branded Xperia x10?
Sorry for bad english.

For this price it is a good phone. I owned a Samsung wave before too and I am satisfied with the x10 (better camera, bigger screen, better os)
Besides, with official Cyanogenmod support it isn't a totally outdated device.

Although @Scoobysnacks says it a terrible phone, I think installing customs roms and kernels make it exceptional at least for my needs and many others on this forum.
But if I were you I wouldn't buy the X10 as it pretty outdated (if not prehistoric ).
I think the Desire HD would be a decent step up from the X10 and would probably be a lot better when it comes to the user experience and doesn't look like an iPhone
But if you must get an X10 be sure to root it and install custom stuff as otherwise the experience will be lacking quite a bit.

HTC Desire HD? Really? Didnt I mention something about GOOD audio quality? Well if X10 is a missed choice, then my next favorite is Nexus S. Is this one better? And of course if I will buy Nexus I will wait for Nexus Prime to become available, so price of Nexus S will drop a little.

If I would sell my Neo, I would go for the HTC Sensation, but if you want custom ROMs, you'd better buy the Samsung Galaxy SII. It's a very popular phone, so many ROMs will come/be available
Between those two I'd definitely pick the Sensation.

1. The design
2. camera (Yes the jpg is too lossy, but the white balance is still the best, even better than G2, most HTC phone cameras is nearly unusable in PQ from my opinion)
3. LED (As I know most sony phones got LED light, too few option to choose for this price)
4. screen colour (In v.high rank among its price)
I choose SE because of above reason - and plus one strange reason, I choose it because I know it's not too popular.
If you don't need the good things above, I suggest to sell it immediately, no point to keep it - not cheap, not fast, not best.
5 roms & 5 themes, why need more?
It would be crazy if you really just want another phone to be ''populair''
i would wait if i were you, neo is fast enough for games, apps etc...
and who says that the galaxy R is gonna have many roms?
i had a galaxy 5 and there was only a buggy cm7
no point in this purchase as the neo is already fast enough for all games and apps that are offered today and i guess will be enough for another whole year maybe !! and don't forget that we got lots of overclocking head room on the neo a minimum of 1.4 ghz is easily achieved on this phone !
I have galaxy 5. All I can say is I can't wait to get a new phone. Only has cyanogen and its been going almost a year and its still not close to stable -.-

nexus2515, what do you think is a rom itself?
There's two main types, one is stock based thoroughly themed and with many customizations in conf files, build.prop sysctl predefined. Custom kernels with mod additions, etc...
Another one is CM and MiUi based, not so different from stock, with precompiled kernels and mods, but not so good/full support of available hardware. CM 7 can't drive FM modul on neo, for example... but give you option to change regulatory domain and you can get wifi channels above 11...
I think if you root your neo, remove some bloatware, add some tweaks and costomizations in system configurations will give different feelings.
Think about real smp support of android before you buy a dual core phone. Overclocked single core give you power when you need without draining your battery, dual core cpus are hungry...
i too choose mine for that strange reason..
it makes us different..
You Guy's comments make me feel good with my neo, but what i wanted in a phone..especially a sony phone was camera
But now I've noticed that my nexus one had ~5MP pics which are far far better than 8MPix of this neo(in short-htc has better drivers for camera)
Second I've chosen galaxyR coz of design(now don't think that i want Arc) and not S2
And i dont want a nexus phone from samsung
BTW what about droid RAZR from Motorola

ArcS is clocked higher at stock (1.4Ghz VS 1Ghz) so they're not quite the same but otherwise you're correct.
if u want to brag than switch to new fone if u use fone as many normal users do than dont its all u need for now
For shots i have Nikon, comparison above is just for thread. I think censors of all new xperia phones are the same. No one phone can get better pictures compared to photo camera with real optics. Phone censors are for fast shots on the go, not for profi pics.
ArcS is just new actual model, old Arc is... old. Stock clock and nothing more is the difference IMO...

What do you guys think of this phone?

Hello forum
I bought this phone for my gf because it is cheaper than most of the other dual core phones and the screen is perfect for her. I currently own a Motorola atrix and i love to flash! On the other side my gf has no interest in trying to do such things and if i do anything she wont like on her phone i ll be in trouble
So do you thing that its best to leave it at stock ICS(Using battery juice battery isnt that bad) or should i flash a custom rom on it? I am reluctant to do it because i cant find a rom that is stable with no issues whatsoever
EDIT: The phone is xperia go

[Q] [SOLA] Best way to destroy Sola

Hi guys.
After endless struggle with this hopeless "smartphone", trying multiple ROMs, uncountable fu**s shouted, playing both nice and dirty tricks to made this device usable, it's finally time to say enough. It's hard to express how much I hate this phone and how I hate sony for realeasing such a crap, and abandoning it completely before even one year have passed since initial release.
That's why I decided to destroy my Sola. I don't want to give it or sell to anone, because no one deserve such punishment and pain. It's time for payback, it's time for ravenge. I will really enjoy it.
Now, the question is, how should I destroy my Sola? Using hammer? With fire? Acid bath maybe? Throw it at the wall?
What''re your ideas? Maybe I will upload a movie with destructions process and name it "How to fix Xperia Sola issues"

No, not everything is working and it never will be, not without novathor sources opened for devs (that's why FXP also abandoned novathor devices). FM Radio, floating touch issues, NFC issues, and so on and so on... It's hard choice between buggy stock rom with full capabilities and faster cyanogenmod with crippled capabilites...

Do a test on water durability, random drop tests, step tests, runover tests, pressure test. Compare it with a Nokia. Record it in full HD and upload on youtube, post the link here.

I also want to give a comment onto this very special topic
I have also a XPERIA sola. Before it I used a LG GT540 (600MHz Single-Core; 256MB RAM etc) and it really ****ed up after a time but then I bought the Sola last year and first I was that happy with GB. Then came the ICS update which let me say: How beautiful can a phone be?
I was soo god damn happy about the ICS update even if it was aweful
What I'ld like to say is:
If you use your phone correctly and care about it it won't that ****ty. Sure the Xsola and XU aren't the best smartphones but with a little breeze of careing it's not that bad I like my phone, with it's small 512MB of RAM and also with it's ugly SoC and Support
