What do you guys think of this phone? - Sony Xperia P, U, Sola, Go

Hello forum
I bought this phone for my gf because it is cheaper than most of the other dual core phones and the screen is perfect for her. I currently own a Motorola atrix and i love to flash! On the other side my gf has no interest in trying to do such things and if i do anything she wont like on her phone i ll be in trouble
So do you thing that its best to leave it at stock ICS(Using battery juice battery isnt that bad) or should i flash a custom rom on it? I am reluctant to do it because i cant find a rom that is stable with no issues whatsoever
EDIT: The phone is xperia go

Hey everyone, I'm thinking of buying this phone but does anybody know if its likely to get ICS? I mean, it can handle it, right?
Also, can anyone give their general views on the phone? Good/bad things.
Thanks a lot!

yup i think it's the best phone with lowerst price i try and this phone very easy to mod ( unlock bootloader , root ... ) but one thing i don't like that the hard button easy to scratched - make the phone look very old , the back cover the same .
it 's all my opinion ! tks for read
If you want the phone for awesome music quality, blindly go for SE
But, there are not much Custom roms and never will be(acc. To me)
Go for an HTC if you want solid looms, good feel and best cameras
Go for Samsung if you want best out of waste....lol
Never go for LG
So what you have left is HTC OR SE
AND
i recommend HtC, MY nexus one looked sexier than this SE crap, checkout SE Forum and you'll see that from about 1000000 requests for improving the compression in camera, there was no action
Rest is ur wish
HTC HAS ROMS MEANS YOU DON'T NEED TO RELY ON HTC, DEV's DO MOST OF THE WORK

Based on what SE have said thus far re ICS, yes I personally think it's likely, but still far from guaranteed.
Will likely get ICS after the launch of the Nozomi in March 2012

Just wait. You'll see after 3-4 days - battery is not too bad.
usually Neo lives about two days with battery from 100% to 0%
and it is not bad result over against other devices

[Q] Atrix 4G Gingerbread stability

Hi there
I am planning to buy Atrix 4G. I previously had Milestone which I upgraded to 2.2 and I was not satisfied with the performance. Random boots, hang (DSI error) these always occurred on that. I then decided not go for any Motorola device. But now I am again thinking to buy Motorola. So tell if there is such problem with aAtrix after upgrading to Gingerbread. How much you are satisfied with your device on daily usage. I want it as my primary (work & home) device. So please tell about its software reliability. Thanks
The ATRIX 4g is one of the most stable cells out there still to date and on GB it is still stable and extremely fast I highly recommend this cell I haven't had any kind of problems I'm using a international ATRIX 4g and I get service in places where non of my friends do even the ones using the same provider as me
If you found this helpful plz hit thanks

Thanks for reply
I know the connectivity is best in Motorola even my Fire lock GPS faster than my bros S in room as well as in open space. What I am scared is with random boots and hang which I faced in previously owned Milestone. I am getting little money from my brother as I don't have much to buy 1G ram phone. So I want a stable investment as I am travelling soon so I need a good partner .
Your reply was plasent to my eyes. My bro want me to get Galaxy R as its very stable he thinks and I feel. But I like the Motorola GB UI, it's very nicely built.
Did you had hang sometimes running apps or as such? How often are the hang/random boots?
I have never had a random boot even when testing my own apps that were no where close to being done and had it set to hard reboot(random reboot) if things went really wrong witch help show how stable it is so no problems with random reboots and I haven't once had any hangs on apps I suggest this cell over the galaxy R my friend has one and they are a good cell but even my friend is envoys of my ATRIX and to add the cherry my ATRIX scores higher in gaming and productivity then his galaxy R

As a previous milestone owner, I can tell you that the Atrix will make it feel like an old model T.
However, because it has eFuses, you can hard brick it with a careless flash. More easily than any smartphone I've ever had. Other than that, it's a pleasure to use.

No problem, I'll be stick to stock rom
Im pretty sure its 128mb decompressed and I fuighered you where wanting to run stock ROM the Motorola team has really pulled their socks up since the milestone and has been making some rock solid devices (dunno about tablet haven't used one...yet) I suggest getting a international ATRIX (vs AT&T) they are unlocked SIM and don't have as much bloat ware on stock ROM unless you use AT&T then you might want their bloat ware as you MIGHT use some of it to check your account but this is all downloadable for the international in the market besides if you really want you can root your device and force uninstall the bloat ware ie twitter or pvr remote. As you sead b4 tho you are traveling and that alone should be a large step twords the international ATRIX

I still have my milestone and I Just use it as an alarm clock now. It can't face my atrix, both on custom and stock rom.
The atrix is very reliable, you won't regret your investment.

Milestone was solid built. I felt proud carrying it in my hand. I never put it in my pocket when I use to go outside.
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Milestone had great build quality but was crippled by insufficient RAM. At a time when other premium handsets were getting 512MB+, moto cut corners and put in 256 - d'oh!
Also the keyboard was atrocious, how could they get the KB so right on the budget dext/cliq but mess it up on their premium phone.

I just got this phone (ATT) 75$ with a new line. I Hope to room and use custom roms, but seems like can be a bad thing if dont know what your doing, i rooted and mess around with old phone HTC Inspire 4G, i did fine on that. I am scared after reading some of the forum posts, but i hate all the bloat ware that comes on stock phones. maybe some one be interested in walking me through it via teamviewer, and talking. I would give a few dollars for your time. you can add me to google, [email protected]
If all you want to do is remOve bloatware, then just root and use titanium backup to uninstall system apps. That's safe and easy.
If you want custom ROMs, then you need to unlock the bootloader, that's where you need to thread very carefully.

paranoid would be awful on this device o.o (no offense to the awesome rom) resolution would be difficult to optimise.
i dont have the bandwidth to repo anymore so any rom compiled, i would have todo manually or port.
cm9 stability would be a first priority. cm10 or aosp would be nice. with aosp, a stock like home brew update could be accomplished.
im just enjoyen the little bugger for now.

Welcome.
I just bought this phone for current girlfriend. Shes not really tech savvy. Its her first smartphone. She really loves it. As I thought she would.
I chose it because of the design mainly. The cute bottom caps you can change to different colours. I put the pink one on for her. Also the transparent light is really cool. And the phone is a nice compact size at 3.5 inch. Good phone for a lady.
And good specs also. Dual CPU. 512 ram. Very nice display. Very nice present. gonna get a lot more loving for this one.

Well it is poo but there are much worse phones selling, but I'm getting Oppo find 5 for next few months I found it really cheap high-end smartphone and it even ships to my country (official site) unlike nexus 4.
But in terms of price Xperia U is not bad.

I will never buy low end sony again, ever.

EDIT: And dont you ever install ROM for one phone to another...
ok thx but this gonna be for my gf she txt ring fb and some browsing and some pix and she like pink thatsway im asking obviously its not hi-end just want to root put some nice fast room and that it anyway thx a how with talk sound quality and camera behave

My mum uses hers for exactly the same. I've tried all sorts of firmware and unlocked her bootloader while trying. The best rom for the U in my (and her opinion) is GB-Rocks. Definitely recommend putting that on if you get one. All the ics roms are just rubbished, and the JB roms are still full of bugs

[Q] [SOLA] Best way to destroy Sola

Hi guys.
After endless struggle with this hopeless "smartphone", trying multiple ROMs, uncountable fu**s shouted, playing both nice and dirty tricks to made this device usable, it's finally time to say enough. It's hard to express how much I hate this phone and how I hate sony for realeasing such a crap, and abandoning it completely before even one year have passed since initial release.
That's why I decided to destroy my Sola. I don't want to give it or sell to anone, because no one deserve such punishment and pain. It's time for payback, it's time for ravenge. I will really enjoy it.
Now, the question is, how should I destroy my Sola? Using hammer? With fire? Acid bath maybe? Throw it at the wall?
What''re your ideas? Maybe I will upload a movie with destructions process and name it "How to fix Xperia Sola issues"
I said the same with my XU and now I'm happy with Cyanogenmod 9 with everything working Give it a try (If you have unlocked bootloader)

No, not everything is working and it never will be, not without novathor sources opened for devs (that's why FXP also abandoned novathor devices). FM Radio, floating touch issues, NFC issues, and so on and so on... It's hard choice between buggy stock rom with full capabilities and faster cyanogenmod with crippled capabilites...

I also want to give a comment onto this very special topic
I have also a XPERIA sola. Before it I used a LG GT540 (600MHz Single-Core; 256MB RAM etc) and it really ****ed up after a time but then I bought the Sola last year and first I was that happy with GB. Then came the ICS update which let me say: How beautiful can a phone be?
I was soo god damn happy about the ICS update even if it was aweful
What I'ld like to say is:
If you use your phone correctly and care about it it won't that ****ty. Sure the Xsola and XU aren't the best smartphones but with a little breeze of careing it's not that bad I like my phone, with it's small 512MB of RAM and also with it's ugly SoC and Support
