These are some shots I took just minutes ago on my X2 using the Blur camera... I want the Nexus, but the 5MP camera seems like a deal breaker for me after the pics Engadget posted

And Engadget posted THESE pics
I don't know if they are purposely NOT focusing, or WTF their problem is, but if this superphone has such a ****ty camera, I might keep swaying to the Razr even with a locked BL. The Nexus doesn't even have a HDMI port.. there were a few other key points that kinda brought it back down to earth for me. I guess I should feel like an iPhone 4 customer who was hoping for the iPhone 5? lol
Sort of agree, however engadget did post a few more focused pics on that post however I sort of agree, but I don't think its been a deal breaker for me, I used a Nexus S for a while and it is quite impressive how speedy it is considering its older. I think google designing the OS around that phone really improves the quality plus you can be reassured you'll get updates. I would definitely still go with it...
I like the luxury of HDMI though too. The portability of taking video with me and playing it on the big screen. I don't understand why the Nexus wouldn't have one, being that it is sort of old tech now. I hate the fact that the Razr launches with 2.3.5, but the big name ROMs I would assume will follow the phone, especially the guys working on the X2 and Bionic being as they wouldn't have to change much. The Razr is on the block to get ICS no sooner than 6 weeks after the Galaxy Nexus launch. So I would assume 3 months, if moto is going to "blur" it again. I might just have to sit back and wait it out a few more weeks on my X2. No reason to make a hasty decision and pre-order a phone I am going to be pissed off about.
I just wanted to post these pics as a reference. I didn't do anything special to my pics, they were literally consecutive, point, shoot, upload. Unless the person using the device was spinning in circles like a jackass, that sensor doesn't look great at all to me. Not to mention, the pics are not WS shots. I use the phone as my primary camera, there is no reason to have 2 devices now-a-days unless you are a pro and want top quality SLR pics. Maybe Google is trying to keep the development of 4.0 cheap and give manufacturers a good starting platform? Like minimum OS specs?

As far as HDMI goes I've really never used it, I'm on the X2 as well, I think I would use it more if the X2 had webtop as that is pretty slick but other than that I have never even plugged in a cable to mine, but I do understand where you're coming from with that.
As far as camera goes I agree it is a bit disappointing they used a 5mp instead of the typical 8 of these days but apparently its a really nice 5; which could be gimmicky or it could be a legit step up, I mean as far as mp count goes I don't think that really means much these days unless you're shooting pictures for bill boards. Some of the pictures on the engadget post were a lot better but some of them were entirely disappointing.
I think I'll still go with it just because its designed by google for googles OS so there's really no going wrong as far as the hardware/software combination, but we'll see what happens. Plus I feel like with ICS when they make all buttons part of the screen like Honeycomb, the soft buttons on the RAZR will look silly unless they make them useful.
The real turning point for me is the 4.65" Super AMOLED, which would be nice if it was Super AMOLED Plus, but it's still the nicest screen around, although I think I heard somewhere that the RAZR might get it too...not sure of the validity of that.
The Razr is getting the Super AMOLED Advanced, the Nexus is getting HD Super AMOLED. I understand the bare bones meaning after some research, but, they are still BOTH Pentile. So, until I get my hands on each of them I don't think I can make a decision based on dimensions and gimmicky names lol.
About the pics, yea, I just posted the ones I was kinda like WTF with? The thing is, why would they even post those? lol, if they knew they sucked why didn't they retake the pic? It is obvious on my 4.3" **** for a screen X2 if a pic is blurry, you mean to tell me an editor for a tech website couldn't tell on a 4.65" screen the picture sucked? I agree about 5MP/8MP isn't really a big deal, but I think they made the choice to sacrifice 8 just to kill shutter lag.
HDMI, I use it periodically to stream sports on the fly. I also use it for movies a lot, netflix(Before I cancelled that nonsense) or Google movies since I can just rent it on my phone and take and plug into anyone's TV.
I wish there was a way I could rent movies from android market and watch them when rooted.
(Sorry im about to get off topic. U just reminded me of something))
I remembered seeing the app OTA rootkeeper can serve as temporary uproot for all devices. My question is if I use that to "hide" root, can I go rent and watch movie from market((while still running eclipse))) and afterward use that app to bring root back and carry on as normal? This would be extremely awesome..
And to the responder who hasn't tried hdmi yet...you are seriously missing out. Once you use it you'll be amazed and use it a LOT. I bought a Motorola hdmi cable on ebay for 9bucks and it was one of the best decisions I've made regarding my x2

Yep, that is what I was using previously! Renting a movie on the market/YouTube is typically a whole $1 or more cheaper than DirecTV, which doesn't make sense lol. DirecTV just wants to rob people I guess.

I had android with a droidX about a year back and original loved the platform, but I switched out for an Iphone 4 for the apps. Now that most of the apps I use everyday are ported over to android, i think i might pick up a thunderbolt on the cheap to try out android again. If i like it, i'll pick up a galaxy nexus when my contract runs up , if not , i'll bank my upgrade and wait for the iphone 5.
What would you do. Do you think android has changed in the pass year and is worth making a trip back for? I really like the way iphone can handle ms exchange. I remember having such a hassle with touchdown last time around.

I think android has come a very long way in the past year, and will only get better. Even f you don't like the thunderbolt, you'd love he galaxy nexus. From the videos I've seen of it... There are no words to describe it lol. Besides, most any app you could want that the iPhone has, android probably has it, or maybe even something better these days.

bringing up the thunderbolt and iphone is like comparing 2 different sports teams and you know how loyal & crazy fans can get.
seriously though, both are solid OS' and offer their own way of functioning. Before I had an android phone I was on windows mobile up till I got my HD2. I had ipod touches on the side and thought they were cool, but it wasn't until I got my first android(a mytouch slide) rhat I decided that I'm sticking with android and that's that. it was kind of weird adjusting to it at first but once you realize the potential & support of the android system/community how can you go with anything else? I wouldn't mind having an ipod touch again for music purposes, but I can't see myself getting an iphone.
that and iphone is still 3G & supposedly apple doesn't like where 4G is right now and says they probably wont incorporate 4G into the iphone 5 either.
p.s. siri isn't all that great either.
I have an iPhone 4 in one pocket and Thunderbolt in the other pocket. I do that so I can keep my personal phone and work stuff seperate. Is be glad to answer the specific questions you have. I like both of them, they each have their strong points. The iPhone 4 and iOS runs quite smooth, hardly ever does anything similar to a force close and doesn't ever freeze up, stuff like that. But with Android you have control over every feature and its settings. Phone customization options are endless. I would say that if you like to tinker and be able to dig around and do anything you want to your phone, Android fits that need perfect. If you want a smooth, great running OS without ever tweaking a thing, and reliability, stick with the iPhone.
Hardware wise, screen size is a big deal to some people. Some like the real estate, but then again others don't like how big it is to carry/hold. The iphone has better fit and finish I think, small things like button feel after a few months of use are much better on the iPhone. But they have the advantage of only having one model to focus on for things like this. Android makers have so many different options available so they don't get to spend as much time/resources on a single phone.
Also, the ability to flash roms and make so many UI tweaks on Android allows you to turn your phone into something completely different any time you want.
Last week I was bored and wanted to mix things up, so i switched over from sense 3.0 to sense 3.5. I'm someone who likes to tinker. I drag race, build hot rods and show trucks, and like to fix broken stuff. The ability to change up the interface totally is a wonderful option, and personally a big "pro" for me.
Let me know what else I can answer for you.

Like what was already said before. The galaxy nexus is an amazing device. Android as an OS is an absolute powerhouse. Iphones are always going to be behind the curve from this point on.

I guess its also important for you to tell us what apps do you use most often on iOS and we can offer examples of what's available on Android, if anything to equivalate them. Since that seems to have been the main reason you originally switched.
From what I understand, if games are your primary goal, the iOS still has a good advantage, but the screen is significantly smaller. For just about everything else, it seems Android either is on par or exceeds iOS alternatives.

And yes - I imagine that going from teh Thunderbolt to the Nexus will be comparable from going from the Aveo to the Corvette.
I mean they are both running Chevy - but one is going to be a complete different experience than the other.
that's a stylin' Aveo. you got me sold sir! that'd be some fun donut'ing in the dirt.

HAHA I would get the Aveo just to run the wheels off of it like it were a go-cart. That reminds me of when I was young and had a Chevette... I wore the emergency brake out on that little car. haha

CharliesTheMan is correct in his observation.
My wife has the iPhone 4S and I have a Thunderbolt and Droid Charge. The 4S is perfect for what my wife wants. It doesn't have a lot to be confusing and it just works without problem. The phone doesn't get in the way of doing what you want to do; it is just smooth and quickly works without any hesitation.
The Thunderbolt and Charge on the other-hand are customized and overclocked how I like it. I am a 'tinkerer' too. I've got my TB running Synergy ROM with the Sense 3.5 and it is simply awesome. Sure, I have an occasional hickup with an app or ROM sometimes but I have the knowledge to fix the problem and go on; not everyone wants a phone like that, including my wife.
So, the choice really isn't to get an iPhone 4S or an Android phone but the choice is what type of user are you? Do you like to have options or simplicity? But then again, I guess you can Jailbreak the iPhone for a change. LOL
My wife wanted a white iphone 4 when we switched to verizon. She had it for 2 days before we exchanged it for a thunderbolt.
Internet browsing was faster on the thunderbolt in full site comparisons. My wife also didn't like dealing with itunes for all music and videos.
Find one for cheap and play around. Only problem is if you go back and forth from the iphone to the Bolt, you will probably have to get a new sim everytime you switch to the Bolt.

I posted this in the Thunderbolt forum(as I still have a TB until Monday), but thought you guys would get a laugh out of it to.
This was the line for the RAZR launch this morning at my local Verizon. This pic was taken 10 minutes before they opened(They decided on 11:11AM for the launch).
Btw, that lady wasn't there for the RAZR... she just wanted a new battery for her phone and was upset that Verizon wasn't open yet.
A RAZR launch is always the best day to go to the VZW store if you need to , because it is never crowded.

Lol yeah I went down to play with the RAZR thinking that I had to stand in line to do so, but the freaking store was pretty much empty. I asked one of the sales reps about how the RAZR was selling and he said that they only sold two. The funny part is that they had balloons, posters, banners and all for the RAZR, all in vain.

i know, right? sad part is, in our verizon website, they said that employees couldn't activate the razr on launch day, much like the iphone 4s, because of the overwhelming demand. LOL. what demand? hahaha
2 Issues, there are so many Android phones, those who WANT these new phones can't get them because they just got the last 9 phones that came out in the last couple months, lol. iPhone fanboys only get 1 phone every 12+ months, easier to build up demand when there isn't something else similar coming out. Not to mention, people KNOW the Nexus and Rezound come out in the next few days.

Beautiful!
The thing I hate about the razr most is the bezel is so big, also I don't like phones that have a hump, just seems out of place, I'd rather the whole thing be a bit thicker overall.
I did see commercials on TV for it, guess they didn't help.

i was frolicking about in the mall today and saw one on display in Best Buy Mobile(there were people in the store, but no one seemed to be paying any attention to it). i decided to pick it up and it just felt all fragile and seemed like if you didn't hold it just right it might slip out of your hands. i didn't really play with it much but did try to see if i could experience the lag and kept constantly switching back & forth through windows and it did slow down. a salesperson was just watching me and probably thought i'm "disturbed"(which isn't far from the truth).

In photos, the hump looks pretty big. In reality, it doesn't feel nearly as intrusive. You might still hate it, of course. I'm just clarifying that as far as how the phone feels in hand, the hump is the most minor concern for me.
I played with one at one of my Verizon stores... I just can't get over Moto's failed Blur. The locked BL nonsense, I mean.... No reason to ever go back to another Moto, their track record ruined it for me. (I may change my opinion if Google does successfully acquire Moto).
On a side note, if they would quit having these damn release parties and just had teaser commercials, and NOT let people know that a better phone is coming out 3 days later, and subsequently 7 days again after than. AND, if they didn't tie people to asinine contracts, AND, if there were not choices, AND.... You get the point. You can't hype something that is overpriced and isn't changing anything in the world. How many people do you think will show up at a car dealer to see a new hybrid?

not true ^
I'm around a lot of people who are legally considered poor, most have POS dumbphones with hardly known cell providers, the ones that have smartphones still are having problem affording rent and whatnot but they're not as bad off, and they get their smartphone for free or for something like $50, and again with POS providers that are hella cheap.
It's hard to live in this society without internet or cell phones, and there's ways of getting those things without having to pay a lot.
If someone can afford to blow $300 on a phone but they say that they can't afford food, then they can, they're just dumbasses or lying to your face.

Just took it apart and seems to be an easy fixable phone for replacing broken LCD or digitizer. I also checked there is 1 led per soft touch key on bottom so thats good, usually they would do one for every 2 buttons. The status led indicator seemed well placed, so i assume brightness of it maybe would be able to be adjusted in programming rather then hardware. Here ya go..

Thanks for being the brave one. And it's good to hear that each of the soft-lit key are powered by an individual LED, rather than just 1 or 2 which would often mean uneven lighting.
If I attempted to dissemble my Rezound I might just pop an ulcer in the process.

I don't understand why anyone would continue to buy moto products.
The DX1 was locked the hell down and didn't get any "new" roms until 2nd init was discovered. I don't know why anyone would make that mistake twice with the X2.
Then the Bionic? Who in the right mind would buy that phone after it came out so late? How can you support a company that can't get their **** together for months?
The Bionic was an attempt by Moto to take $$ quick off the publicity before the RAZR came out, lol.
But yea, I didn't do **** with my X1 the whole time I had it, I just started to get involved in the Dev world in August.

yup, that's why i stick to HTC for my smartphones. my first was the eris, second was the inc, and now it's the rezound. i've used PLENTY of motorola/samsung products and damn i can't stand them lol
honestly guys i love moto phones more than htc. First off the thunderbolt pissed me the hell off with its heating up issues and battery issues and all that crap was so annoying, u dont keep a phone to use as a heater. When the samsung charge came out i jumped on it, loved it for the reason that it didnt heat up AT ALL even if i used the net for a long time. But it suckkkked software wise. The bionic was really good liked it a lot but still wanted a more detailed screen so when the htc rezound with the smoothness in software came out i loved it. So far with this rezound im happy, made me think good about htc again, but ya motorola has always been loyal to me

Thats crazy, I've been using my thunderbolt instead of the bionic because the bionic is so freaking awful.
Yea, my buddy is having so many LEGITIMATE issues that today Verizon finally agreed to warranty replace with the Rezound. He just texted me the good news. They said they have a "fix" due in December, he said that is not good enough. Which, he is right, we don't pay for these devices to not be able to use them to the full effect. Bad news for him though, he fell for the accessory package, they don't reimburse you for those.

That's bull****. Verizon told me they would exchange my bionic for a thunderbolt or a stratosphere. Why the hell would i want to trade the bionic for the 8 month old phone i replaced with it!

Im kind of at a loss for words on this one.
Yes, it is a large phone
Yes, it is not inteded for the general population
but there is no need to hammer it for its size. The size is what makes it unique and functional! Cant wait to get my carbon blue on friday and prove them wrong!!
Frank
I like how everyone in the comments railed on him . . . lol
That is THE strangest hands-on I have ever read.
The phone is too big. You will look stupid talking on it, people will laugh at you, and you’ll be unhappy if you buy it. I really can’t get around this, unfortunately, because Samsung pushed things way too far this time.
Not even sure what to say.

Its very embarassing to publish something like that. Sounds like a little kid tyrade!!
The Galaxy Note essentially has everything you’d want in a smartphone: a great dual-core processor, a solid camera, a beautiful display and good build quality, and it runs on AT&T’s new 4G LTE network that delivers incredibly fast downloads speeds. Plus the battery seems actually decent so far, which is a triumph for modern smartphones.
Throw all of that right out the window.
The phone is too big.

Essentially: Nothing but praise, but it's too big!
If you look at the first picture you can see that the "reviewer" has pretty small hands. It's fair to write an article saying that the phone doesn't work for you, but to say that anyone who uses the phone looks ridiculous and that people will laugh at you is just poor journalism.
I think size 6 shoes are too small, but I don't go around criticizing people that wear them...
it's not something I hide...I can't stand that site.. they rarely back anything up
but this kind of thing happens often with android phones in general....
they get used to simply point out how much better some other device is.
Did you expect anything less from this apple fanboi? He just had not been told by apple yet that a 5.3 inch screen is better than a 3.5 inch screen.
No sense in waiting to get the phone to prove him "wrong". The phone is / will be amazing and the biggest reason I personally bought it was for its size. The guy who wrote the article doesn't like things that are big.......just the same way some people would prefer to drive a Civic over a lifted F350 Diesel. Big deal? The guy is entitled to his opinion as much as you are entitled to your right to buy and enjoy the best smartphone currently out.
I will give him 2 thumbs up on the comment about Android Phones having 7 different flagships in the same year......that part needed to be said. Each time I walk into an AT&T or Verizon store, they have a different lineup of Android phones....but the iPhone is sitting there...in the same place it has for months.....and still outselling all the rest.
Be secure with your purchase - and use it because YOU want to use it, not to use it to prove someone else wrong. That's just......silly.
I guess jockey-sized hipsters shouldn't be reviewing Samsung devices ...
His article kind of reminds me of the Burger King commercial about the guy that doesn't want to go and get a BK Double Cheeseburger because it will make his hands look small.
This is an example of an apple fanboy in fear that android has made a device that totally demolishes the iPhone. Get over it and suck on your apple.
This image sums up my reaction to the article.

BGR --- "but, But, BUT... It's not the size of an iPhone!!! Waaaaaaaaaaaaah"
If I was as bad at my job as that guy is at his, I'd be fired.
Im 6'5 and have big hands. I own a HTC Desire HD and every time i went to type on a new rom i either had to install a new keyboard theme with bigger keys or turn to landscape to type. This phone is exactly what i need. Having a stylus is great too because some people can write faster than typing...i do see gimmicks here but what phone doesnt have them? its how they sell. some people use them, some dont.

Exactly why I get my news reviews from un/less-biased sources like:
-The Verge
-Slashgear
-Ars Technica
-Anandtech
I would suggest going to those instead for tech news. BGR is complete trash (and this is coming from an iPhone user)

This sums it up nicely.
If he'd given specific reasons like:
Screen is too big so battery life is horrible
Phone is too big and makes it heavy in the pocket
its not a review but a rant.
Did you see the size of the little hand on that guy? I think BGR should stand for Baby Girl Report.

Not really sure he's claiming anything different, and he does say a proper review is forthcoming. I don't follow bgr--and after reading this I definitely won't--but posting childish rants like this just strikes me as the sort of thing people should reserve for their livejournals and not for a site that would like to provide credible tech info and reviews.
Is the phone too big? As many (reasonable) posters have said in this forum, that's a matter of opinion. Obviously Mr. Geller feels that it is, but I can't imagine why anyone posting with that tone would expect to be taken seriously. The iPhone comparison is particularly ridiculous at this point; while it is more or less indisputable that Samsung's Galaxy line took a great deal of inspiration from the iPhone design (he should have found a pic of the international note with its physical home button to up the similarity!), the Note actually looks significantly less like the iPhone than some of the earlier incarnations. That sort of comparison would be better suited to some BS patent infringement case filing.
This type of article is exactly why I have been posting the details I can get like I did with my in and review thread. tons of details and a few opinions.
I am no journalist but I like to believe people get something useful from it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I727 using XDA App
Ok we know it's coming soon, in fact I am already seeing hints of it. We know inevitably once the I3 is out, there will be people that suggest that everything Apple has made going back to the IMAC is better than the Prime.
So this thread is for people to start lowering their blood pressure ahead of time and once it starts. I will not consider anything in THIS thread flaming, sarcasm, trolling, or anything else that is usually reportable especially since it is a hypothetical post. That being said I cannot control it if a mod thinks something is too far gone and decides to take things into his own hands.
Personally I think this type of thread is better than hijacking someone else's, at least here we can have fun. So without further adieu, say what you wish.
GUYS, I just saw the specs on the new IPAD3. It is going to blow everything ANDROID out of the water especially everything ASUS has on the drawing board. You guys better sell your antique now so you can preorder the I3
EDIT: BTW the ones I am really gonna have fun with are those who don't read the OP and think the thread is serious
EDIT 03/19 Since the thread became serious I have changed to a serious name suggested by Wordly wise
Original name was
I REALLY THINK THE IPAD3 (and 2) ARE BETTER THAN THE PRIME
Unfortunately even the original iPad blows the Prime out of the water simply because its a reliable product unlike the nothing but problems since launch quality control issues Prime
Ipad 3 will be for my kids. You have a link for the specs? Because I didn't think
it wasn't announced until tomorrow (March 7th).
Everything is rumor at this point....
So you wanna fight or what?
Why come into the Prime general forum with a line like that if youdidn't expect a flame fest. (I take back any earlier comment about trollism, as clearly tha is not your intent) . You must KNOW you won't get a serious debate in here, but rather a war of words, and incendiary comments. The Prime is the most Love it/Hate it device going right now. People are so polarised over it, it's crazy, with Major "It's the best and I won't STAND for anyone talking bad about it" guys like Damandarin, down to the opposite side such as this joker:

Black or white with Prime... Personally I love it, but have been frustrated as hell by the issues that will all be resolved on the next iteration (yeah... uhuh. and all aspirins are alike) But yeah, it CLOSE to greatness, but too many **** ups and it starts losing that shine... At the moment I need to see Asus STOP updating at breakneck pace breaking **** while they fix others... I had to roll back to .14, and I had no issues all along, besides you G know P what S

Of course I know, but better here than in the threads that are going to start tomorrow. Those threads will probably be posted in all seriousness, ooorrrr did you not read the entire OP xD.
I Love Deman but I bet he doesn't read the whole OP or this post and swoops in like the Green Lantern.

And I love my prime.
Good point. Probably about 100 threads of IPAD 3 vs Prime in next few days. lol

My buddy works at Apple and he sent me a copy of the spec sheet. It's running a Tegra 6 24 cores at 2.5mhz. And it has 8 gigs of ram with 1TB of user app space, and all the apps are in the cloud so you don't use up room on the tablet, and it doesn't need WIFI to download them it uses a transporter

Yes.. true. However, using an IPAD would take away that "character" that makes you.. YOU.
IPAD ??
Whats one on them ?
Are they a new type of womens sanitry towels ? if so I will buy the wife a pack
It's just too damned hard to figger out the widgers and home bases and file whatchamacallits on my Prime. It's waaaaaaaaaaaaay to complicated. I just want to turn it on and push some buttons and watch my kitty videos on the YouTube. I mean, when I install an app, where does it GO?!? What are those little dots on the screen, you know, the ones on the right-hand corner at the top? You know, when I hold the Prime SIDEWAYS?
So I think I'll get one of those iPad 3 things from the Apple store, so I don't have to worry about figgering anything out. And I know it'll just werk, right? RIGHT?
AAAHHH I found them
Thing about apple is its BUILT to be idiot proof, you have a limited amount of things you can do with it and it works well at what it does.
Android, by nature, is more unstable however there is more freedom to put whatever os you like (android, linux, hell i've seen some androids running messed up windows ports with very limited functionality)
So ya the ipad may be "better" if you want something stable, however i want something i can customize to my liking and you just cant do that with apple.
Too Much Choice
DO I Buy
Ipad 1
OR IPAD 2
OR IPAD 3
wynand32 said:

If you did not mean kiddy videos I don't think the IPAD will let you watch these.
