I sent my I/O tablet to Samsung for repairing a hardware defect (see http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1272086). I got it back today and now it's stuck in some factory mode. There is a lock displaying at the bottom of the screen during boot-up. I have an app called factory mode that seems to launch some sort of calculator. I am unable to lock the screen at all now. No matter what lock screen setting I try the screen never locks. Pushing the power button powers down the device in an instant. No more popup asking if I want to power down. I've tried a factory reset, but during the reset it's complaining about not having access to some directory. After the factory reset runs its course I'm back to square one. I'm not asked to setup wifi, create an account or anything. I'll obviously call Samsung support tomorrow to find out how the hell I get out of this factory mode. But in the meantime has anybody seen this type of behavior after getting their tablet back from Samsung support?
Please use the Q&A Forum for questions Thanks
Moving to Q&A
Samsung wants me to send the tab back to them cause they don't give out the engineering codes to get it out of factory mode. Honestly I find this rather ridiculous. I use this thing for development for christ sake. I really don't want to sent it back to them again being without a tab for another few weeks. If anyone knows the magic code to get the tab out of factory mode please pm me.
Thanks.
I need that Code aswell
Yeah I need that code to get out of factory mode aswell as I have the same issue.
Thanks
Which is amazing because they keep sending unusable tablets back to people after repairs. For me they set a password and I had to use ODIN to flash the original 3.0 I/O rom on it. Wouldn't even let me wipe portions in recovery.

man it is annoying i got the same problem. Anyone got the solution?
This is the exact issue I have, so this can't be cured by flashing old firmwares eh? Any solutions?
Btw, I have the 10.1 P7510 retail, not the Google I/O edition.

Got my Tab Fixed by Samsung Service Centre, In my case it was caused by missing IMEI and Serial Number.
I have the same problem, factory mode, and i already know that it is because of missing IMEI and efs folder on my tab. I have imei number on my box, isn't it possible to recover it using my imei number by myself?
the way i understand this is only samsung can take out the factory mode. so it happens on 3G tab as well, how did you get the "factory mode" in the first place?

my mother just bought an sgs2 about 1 week ago. she is not that expert in phones and all that, but she has a serious problem now. she made a lockscreen code witch she cant remember now. stupid right. how can u bypass it or dissable it. i must say i have tried my self almost anything i can think of
this is what i my self have tried:
factory reset / hardreset didnt work
flashing stock rom again, didnt work
flashing 3 custom roms didnt work, to mention with root kernels
and no my mom never made an gmail account. she only uses it for calling and sms
so what the hell is there to do??
or do i need take to a samsung service center???
You're likely looking at data loss by factory resetting and overloading it with wrong passwords from recovery mode.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=17039887#post17039887
Though you say you've factory reset already and it didn't work - what didn't work?
when i did factory reset and rebooted the phone, it went okay, and i thought i had dissablet it, but no, when the screens turns black and u want use it again, the lockscreen keeps apper
Can't you just disable it before the screen turns off then? Settings --> Location and security --> Set up screen lock --> None.
no when trying to dissable it asks for the code, u must enter the code before able to dissable, im stuck, what should i do
I just noticed your thread [Q] screen locked, need help.

2 days ago i found a sgs2 on the ground outside at the city. the screen is totally ****ed but it still works. so i thought cool, who ever lost it, should have been more carefully, but honestly i dont care.
but when i turn it on, i can se its on cynogenmode but i cant use cause of some screen password. i have tried everything from re flash og several types of roms, including stock, cynogenmode and exonys, but all appear but it wont install new rom. i cant enter factory mode, cause when i try it says need password. so i cant do a hardreset. i have searched the net for everything, and i have tried almost possible ways to get around that screen lock, but nothing works. so how can i get rid of it??? when i press volume upp with home and turn on button it askes for passworld, when i do it with volume down, i get into odin mode. i have tried 0000 and 00000000 but still dont work. any one can help?? pls

I choose not. Maybe you'll find someone else who does believe you and willing to help.
I changed the lock screen code on my phone and need help to recover or reset it any help would be appreciated its the samsung galaxy 3 sph-l710 thanks in advance!
I think after several failed attempts it will prompt you to input your Gmail account. Let me test for you and see if it does.
Edit: And that was a resounding failure on my part. I'm not sure what you can do besides maybe doing a factory reset through Odin? This is my first Samsung phone so I'm not familiar with Odin yet.

I don't think a pin code security will ask for gmail after a few failures like the pattern security will, if you have a nandroid, then maybe restore. I don't think security settings will stick across nandroids yet.

thanks you your input. i've tried over 50 x's lol and it has yet to prompt me for my e-mail. and the phone is still new to me and i have not rooted yet. so no nandroid for me. im on the phone with sprint as i type this. I will report back my results for others to learn from my mistake
Can't you still access your recovery to perform a factory reset? Turn the phone off, then hold vol up, home, and power until the Samsung screen flickers, and when your stock recovery opens there should be an option for factory reset. If not just choose reboot to system. You'll have to set everything back up but at least you'll be able to access your phone again.

cant you change the password via Samsung Dive ?
Hello, i am using Samsung galaxy S3 international version yesterday my friend told me that the jelly bean update is released, so i tried updating it
and it worked fine
the model version says now 4.1.1
I am using every thing default in the phone did not change the launcher or the lock screen i had this phone for 2 weeks now
Here is my problem! every thing worked fine but when i went to my lock screen i noticed the left side of it really bright, when i go back to my home page the brightness goes away, I am using the same WP for both so it was very easy to catch on
I made then both WPs black to really see it, and it was very very obvious on the lock screen, the white was really showing, but in the homepage it is normal, you can even see it with a print screen, how weird is that? i have taken two photos one from the lock and one from the home,
Even tho the lock one is hard to see but trust me its x10 worse than that when you see it in the eye
This is the Lock screen

This is the home screen
http: //i.imgur .com/BgaWy.png
it is the same WP on both
does any one have a clue what might be going on :S?
if you need any more info please tell me i will give what ever info you need
Did you try reset to factory defaults?
yes, same thing
any one knooooooooooooow??????????????????????????????????????????????
Ok, I would do the following if it is possible at all with your device:
1) flash back your old firmware
2) do reset to factory defaults again
3) check if the problem is still here
If the problem persists - something is wrong with your device. Next step is locating nearest service office.
If not - it is software problem, file a bug to Samsung and wait until they fix it.
Not really optimistic, but I don't have anything better
how can i flash back to old firmware?

Well, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1838480
But it is just a guess, I never did it myself to Samsung devices, sorry.
I dont know. Sorry.
On my Samsung Galaxy S3 (d2mtr) it keeps giving me a "Mobile network not available" error whenever I try and make a call. I can go on the web and social networking apps; download apps. The only thing I can not do is make calls. I looked under settings and saw that "Network Operators" is not available to enter. Any ideas on how to fix this??
EDIT: My IMEI number does in fact show up. Idk what is wrong with this.
EDIT: NEW PROBLEM. I was reading a tutorial about flashing back to stock firmware and it said to downgrade my bootloader. I used the recovery flash method and now I have a black screen. Can't do anything. Turn off, turn on. Just stays black with no response. Someone help fast Please

No sir I can not just stays on a black screen.
Plug it in your wall charger and leave it for 15-20 minutes to charge. Then retry. Maybe your battery is discharged. I've read similar posts. Good luck!
If you've flashed the wrong bootloader or it went wrong then you have a hard brick. Try a usb jig, but probable you'll need a new motherboard.

I changed the lock screen password on my device after entering a new one when encrypting the SD card. Sadly, I forgot where I put the note with the new password and I have locked myself out of the phone.
I have tried everything I know to get to some type of back door, but without any success. And there doesn't seem to be any info out there on how to get past the lock screen without doing a factory reset. Does anyone know of a way or a tool I can find which can get me past the lock screen? I currently have the a rooted SCH-i605 running 4.3, which I removed all the bloatware and rogue apps from, and I would hate to have to start all over again. But unfortunately, the only thing I can think of to so is to wipe it clean and start from scratch..
If anyone has been through this and knows a tool or a work around to my issue, please let me know ASAP!
Thanks
I think factory reset is your only option if you can't remember the password. If there was a work around, encrypting the phone would be a worthless feature.
Sorry mate,
Merrell
