i've done the usual of adding @gmail.com/googlemail.com/google.com to username without any success i'm pretty sure a \ or / needs to go somewhere but i can't remember and after 2 hours, i need help, badly lol.

[Q] unable to install apps / APN Settings

Using Stephens 2.2 I was able to install apps from the market place.
I then did a couple of things, 1 was to install Universal Androot, the other was to configure my APN settings.
After that I'm unable to install anything from the Market (just paid for 2 apps as well).
Tried a few things, (clear cache, airplane mode etc) but nothing tried so far works, I suspect it could be wrong APN settings, can anyone post their O2 apn settings so I can double check?.
Can anyone suggest anything else to try (i did see a post saying to uninstall market updates from options, but can't find that app (the instructions were a bit vague so I could be missing something).
Thanks
There is a problem with the market either very slow at downloading or it wont download you just have to be patient and keep trying
You mean I've just factory reset my phone for nothing !!!!!!

I'm not sure quite how but I seem to have sorted it out, earlier it wouldn't download
using APN settings I found elsewhere, these were as follows (trying to help others),
----------------------------------------------------------
Name: O2 Internet
APN: mobile.o2.co.uk
username: vertigo
password: password
MCC:234
MNC 10
APN type: default (actually type in default, don't leave it blank)
All others remain as "not set".
2nd access point
Name: O2 MMS
APN: wap.o2.co.uk
proxy: http://wap.o2.co.uk
port:9201
username: o2wap
password: password
server: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mmsc: http://mmsc.mms.o2.co.uk:8002
mms proxy: 193.113.200.195
MMS port: 8080
MCC: 234
MNC: 10
APN type: mms
---------------------
Neither the phone's own connection or my home wifi connection would work, did a factory re-set, no APN's configured, setup wireless and downloaded three or four apps from market no problems.
Did a bit more configuring on the phone and then needed some more apps only this time they wouldn't download, same issue as before. No APN's configured yet.
Tried all sorts of the recommended fixes but no success.
Stopped wifi configured this APN :-
------------------------------------------------
Name o2
APN mobile.o2.co.uk
Username mobileweb
Password password
------------------------------------------------
I dont think I rebooted, but after enabling the connection and giving it a couple of minutes to settle, then trying a web page I went back to market and apps have downloaded since (5 apps).
Sometimes I get a "Network Error" when starting and have to close market and try again but so far have managed to install 5 apps.
So, wifi connection sometimes works, which got me wondering :-
I read somewhere that Market uses different ports, is there a list of ports (will search after this) and do they sometimes switch ports, eg if there's a number of connections on one port do they switch to another (and this one is blocked by my firewall).
Do they blacklist certain IP's during busy times, eg server is really busy and I've downloaded apps for 20 minutes (really slow connection at home) so they block my IP ?.
In other words, is this deliberate in order to share overloaded bandwidth fairly ? rather than a problem with phones/settings themselves.

[Q] Verizon email settings?

I have an AT&T Atrix, running gingerbread.
What are the correct settings to get Verizon email going?
The automatic method does not work.
Thanks for any help.

Here is what I have done, that works: installed K-9 from the market.
It does work. A bit over whelming with all the choices and settings.
Gmail works but I do not want to link Verizon mail with Gmail.
I even tried to use the server settings K-9 uses, for the native email settings on the Atrix: That did not work. The settings on the Atrix are different.
Played around interpreting the wording differences.
THIS DID WORK for incoming!!
Verizon server settings that work on my AT&T Atrix:
Incoming server:
incoming.verizon.net
User name: your email name without the @verizon.net
Password: your email password
Advanced settings:
Port 110
Use secure connection: NO
Use secure password TLS: Never
Authentication: Password
Verify certificate: NO
worked!
Outgoing: Still trying to figure this out.
Help me out, or stay tuned!
Till then, I can read incoming only.

My problem is the outgoing.
I love this better than the K-9, or Gmail app.
Outgoing has lost of odd settings.
Most do not work so help me out.
Please

The auto method never worked for me, so un select Automatically configure account.
Hit next.

These settings also didn't work. Guess im just not meant to get my main email on my atrix.

Notice! K-9, free App in the market, will automatically set up your Verizon email account on your phone.
As far as manually setting up Verizon settings on the Atrix:
Be sure to select "OK" or "Yes" after you make changes to any of the settings pages before you exit that page or the changes will not be saved.
I live on the east coast donno if there are different settings for other area's?
My Atrix is stock, but rooted, if that makes a difference.
The method used was trial and error using lot's of other " setting suggestions", until I got the incoming to work. Applied the same method to the outgoing.
Create a test email, send it to my gmail account, wait for either failure notice, or gmail to say success.
If you get past the "Wrong user name, or password failure" notification, do one server at a time till you get it going.
I like the stock android email application a lot better than K-9 from the market.
Just too many settings in K-9, but to each his or her own.
Good Luck! My phone email signature now say's: Verizon Email sent from my Motorola Atrix on AT&T.
Not sure if east versus west is the difference either. Maybe. Don't know. Im same setup as you stock but rooted. I tried the k9 and while it would get my emails, it wouldn't show me all new ones. Always was one message it didn't show and just happens to always be a vip message. Im gonna have to stop being lazy and call Verizon from a separate device. Thanks for all your help.

You can set the number of emails downloaded in K-9, and how often

[Q] K-9 Mail with iCloud not pushing?

I have an iCloud Account and k-9 Mail is synced to it using the basic settings by apple:
IMAP (Incoming Mail Server) information:
Server name: imap.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
Port: 993
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
Password: Your iCloud password
SMTP (outgoing mail server) information:
Server name: smtp.mail.me.com
SSL Required: Yes
Port: 587
SMTP Authentication Required: Yes
Username: [email protected] (use your @me.com address from your iCloud account)
Password: Your iCloud password
This Syncs, but I do not get push notifications even with the poll via push checkbox being checked in the settings. I use similar settings on my Gmail and it does push with any problems. I have tried everything to fix pushing for my icloud account, any help would be appreciated.

[Q] Exchange not able to sync

Hello all,
I'm trying to connect my phone to my company email and it never completes the step where it refers to "checking incoming server settings..."
it then displays a message "Couldn't finish: couldn't open connection to server" I'm using the same credentials everyone else at my work uses, with my own specific email of course. The settings I've entered:
Domain\Username: domain\myusername
Password: ***
Server: mail.mycompany.com
use secure connection (ssl): checked
port: 443
there are two people in my office who have the exact same phone and use the same credential setup and there is no problem. I'm currently running cm 10.1 which is the only difference between myself and them.
I have checked and searched and can't find a fix, I also tried using touchdown to no success either. Any suggestions?
