Hello everyone, I would like to use this launcher, based on ADW, but I have a problem with the vertical spacing of icons on the home. It is too big (or too little) and I have to find a way to fix it, but I can not.
Below I put an example of how messy the homepage.
Description clearly states -
-Precisely tuned for HDPI and MDPI devices. From hero to nook to galaxy tab.
Surely you must have read it before buying it (I am assuming you didn't pirate it)

Ok guys, you say that is not compatible with wildfire?
The themes that I create with themesfactory for go launcher ex have icons in drawable-hdpi folder, so the icons are not hdpi?
It should therefore be compatible.
The screen of the drawer has no problems!
It is incredible, I did a week of rehearsals and I solved for the case.
The problem was with the lines of the desktop, after I've setted 4 lines everithing is ok. Certainly at the beginning the settings were all wrong ... and I, trial and error, I'd never put 4.
i like this launcher its very cool =)

You could try the experia arc launcher, follow the instruction carefully, it's a great launcher, quick and you can have multiple widgets and fully customizable homescreens!! Not sure about the size of the icons in the drawe3r, they seem to be the same size as the ones you get in most launchers. Give it a try!!

The arc launcher is one fot he best launchers i've used for simplicity, downside is that it has no landscape support which is the only thing that lets it down

Awesome, thank you.
Also, have you had a problem with your phone not remebering the sort by alphabeticaly?
I set it to the other options and it will use them options until i change it.
But when i do it by "Alphabetical" it automatically changes back after i've launched something.
I havent had that problem yet, alhough the problem I did have was that the launcher would forget everything whenever I restarted the phone!!
I realised I had been installing the app instead of moving it to the correct folder with root explorer and setting the permissions correctly.
just follow the steps they set properly (they are on the first post I think) and you will have no problem.
i personally think the "xperia active" launcher is better than the Arc launcher. u can have 16 shortcuts in the 4 corners of the Homescreen. multiple widgets, and a very nice iteration from the ARC launcher, that is, when u pinch to get the "widgets overview" mode, the widgets are not "stable" but are "floating" in the screen. VERY nice tweak. try the active launcher.
In my experience, the xperia active launcher seems to position widgets a little to the right in landscape mode (makes their right ends go off the screen.)

Well thank you so much adoneill. it really solves my problem!!
Hello
I'm using LauncherPro and just yesterday I stumbled on this post on xda.
Now, I don't care about the wallpaper, but I really like those buttons. So first I did try to find the icon pack (it is called "Manup's Simple Word Icons 116SET") and then tried to make some of the icons myself, but each time I noticed that the words just aren't readable on the screen (too small!).
So I was wondering, does anybody use such a theme and is willing to shear it, or does somebody has a solution for this? Or is our resolution really that bad?
Thank you in advance!
Hey, I tried using this app too once and had the same problem, I'm not very clued up on Photoshop so never tried to solve it that way......
Instead I used another app custom launcher icons, which gave me the text icons that we're readable. There wasn't much customization in it though so got bored quickly, I think the icons in that picture are actually blank icons placed over a custom dock background which has the text on it.
I've done it that way before a while ago, let me have a search for the theme which came with blank icons n ill get back to you.
EDIT: The theme I used for the blank icons was called sense adw theme by androidfeens.
You can use the blank icons from that then find a custom dock with the text on.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
No I tell a lie he did actually use that app to make the text icons and then placed them on top of a custom dock. Must be our resolution that sucks with the app, oh well glad you reminded me about this just made my own custom dock again.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using xda premium
Interesting approach, but the only restriction is that this way of working limits the amount of docks to just one, as the dock-background is the same for every dock..
Yeh that is a problem for multi dock users, doesn't affect me as I only use one, for the basic phone functions.
Sent from my HTC Wildfire using XDA App
Same when I used it u i forget I have them, and found it easier to just use shortcuts

A bit late, but I've found an app that creates readable word icons! It is called 'Simple text - text icon creator', is made by 'redphx' and can be found in the market for free. For a screenshot, check attachment.

We have seen tons and tons of modding of Sense 3.0 but honestly speaking these are more "Thematic Mods" than real Mods. Yes we have blue, red, pink and you name it and you get it colours available for lockscreen, rings, clocks, statusbar and you name it and you get it graphical items.
Most of you will agree these are skin changes and not real mods. Most android launchers these days have features we would love to see in our dearmost SENSE launcher, but as yet, we have not crossed that mod level. Back in the WM6.5 days, we had a super application called co0kies Home tab and most old folks would agree with me that this app rocked. Today that kind of sense modding is over UNLESS we flash a new ROM.
Is the sense Modding a DEAD END or is ROM development the only choice????
With this thread lets highlight and point to some of our incredible developers that we would love to have the following features and real mods in our dear sense package NATIVELY via tweak or apps.
Ability to hide status bar like in all other launchers merely by a gesture.
Ability to add delete number of homescreen pages WITHOUT ROM flashing.
Ability to lock / hide the Notificatios tab besdies the "Quick Settings" tab in the new Sense status bar.
Ability to change icons and their names as in all other launchers.
Ability to sort apps and hide apps from Ap drawer.
Ability to auto hide the Sense ARC at the bottom of the screen much like the Windows taskbar on pc.
Ability to change grid size in respect of coloumns and rows. Also very much achievable in almost all launchers.
The ability to change widget sizes as available in Go launcher and others.
3D rendering of weather on lockscreen. It would be nice to have EYE POPPING weather animations on lockscreen suing full 3d capabilities. I can do the 3D Rendering if any dev is interested in development
Please post simlar sense 3.0 mods you would like to have natively in sense 3.0 launcher and lets catch the interest of developers.
I think one highly desirable mod is workspace size, 5x5, 5x6..etc.. I've been working on it for a while with not much success..
I always seem to run into problems with recompiling Rosie. If I decompile a Rosie.apk with dependencies, then try to immediately recompile, the size is always significantly different (~1.8mb vs ~12mb). I've went ahead and made changes to some of the xml files within, but the size is always way off when it is recompiled...if it gets that far and doesn't throw an error...
It would be awesome if a more experienced dev could take this on or offer some guidance..
I think we all can agree 4x4 sucks on a qHD screen.
Sent from my HTC Sensation Z710e using XDA App
updated the first post with it.
Also added the 3d weather animation lockscreen. I can do the rendering of 3d if any dev is interested.
LETS KEEP SENSE ALIVE
Sounds good have you anything ready for testing?
Awaiting Assimilation
I totally agre. Im getting tired of using sense and not being able to change certain aspects of it that should have been changable from the get go. Sense is gret but it needs to be greter" so im sure that some other devs here that have the awesome knowledge will soon begin to consider these things. I am willing to donate for this type of work when the project begins. This is a great convo starter and im glad someone has came to point this out.
The only thing I would like is to be able to resize widgets if is even possible.

Yess. We can see different ROMS exploring different things. But at the same time we see different launchers providing functionalities which are awesome.
SENSE 3.0 as a launcher is dying out. We have themes for sense and that is all. Launcher functionality is Sense is limited. We had an excellent program called co0kies hometab for WM 6.5 and it allowed all types of customizations. However, most people today feel easy to download an alternative launcher over sense 3.0.
Lets keep this launcher alive.

I think it is possible, it was done on older versions of Sense..The widgets size themselves according to the layout size. You can't resize them on demand tho.

Its odd how sense 3.0 has an edit button when u long press on an icon or widget but u cant always use it and that grinds my gears because i feel it being mostly pointless of it being there. I hope it changes to have better functionality instead of a ui change like in the supposedly leaked sense 3.5. What a nightmare that is. Lol
I would like the rgb color widget that's in cyanagen mod so you can make your phone just one color like blue or green or red. Also if some can find me some pngs of the death star rotating I will make a star wars themed lock screen

Just tested Go launcher. Apart from htc widgets, all wallpapers and live wallpapers from HTC including weather and htc hub is accessible from the GO launcher.
Plus HTC lock screen is also there with weather.
I wish OUR SENSE has these features.

"Old folks" ? LOL Dude... the cookie home tab mod was release almost a year ago in November (for the 2.0 ver). That's not THAT long ago.. LOL
Development for Rosie is not going too far because we don't have a cookiemonster equivalent in the Android world. All real modding is done in smali and I only know of ONE guy that can do serious modding to it.. RomanBB.
Unless we get someone like cookiemonster, Sense modding will never take off.

HOLY CRAP...You are bringing back memories of my WinMo days
I am up for beta testing as well!! I ran your ROMs on my TP2...
---------- Post added at 09:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:55 AM ----------
BTW, OP...nobody messes with Sense since it's so much easier to just drop Launcher, Luancher Pro, ADW, etc in the ROM, instead.
So just picked up a touchpad and wondering if there are any themes for webos? I know when u install preware u can manage and add prethemes thread but how do you know if they work on touchpad or pre phones? If there is another way to theme let me know. Thanks
not really... but you can get cm7 and theme chooser !!
yeah I know and will be dual booting but love webos and want to customize if i can
The only one i know of if the Glass Effect Suite - Touchpad Theme by Garret29C. It adds a dark transparent(ish) launcher drawer and keyboard background, but all the icons stay the same.
There are quite a few themes on the webOS quick install ....change icons lock screens launchers etc etc etc
Sent from my Desire HD using Tapatalk
The TP themes usually say touchpad, or will be called HD. Also, just try some that you like. Many work fine, with the exception of the wallpaper being the wrong size. If ya don't like them, just uninstall them. All, there is a beta app, beta testing feeds, called Theme Manager you might want to check out.

I have been playing around with my tab 10.1 for a while now, and considering to change the launcher for another one.
Is they're anyone around with a experience using adw ex?
Looks nice but would love to hear some users ...
I have tried to instal go launder ex, but Al lot plugins in the market show not compatible with your device....
Suggestions?

But it works so smooth and fast

yup
I'm using ADW Ex and I wouldn't go back to something else.
So fast and smooth that it makes you wondering why google can't get a better launcher. Maybe ICS will be the answer...
ADW EX is the best for our tab. Day and night difference when compared to stock launcher
I am in the same boat as everybody else and I agree with everything everybody has already said.
Think i Will buy this one then ... Thanks

Related question, does anyone have insight on free version of ADW? It seems to do most of the same stuff, just curious if there are features on the paid version that would be must-haves.
Differences between ADW.Launcher and ADWLauncher EX
ADWLauncher EX is based on the ADW.Launcher opensource core with a lot of new additions and improvements, like for example:
-5 different app drawer styles/behaviors
---3D Nexus One like application drawer
---2 different plain vertical drawer styles, the "old one" and a new fast and smooth one
---2 different Iphone-like horizontal application drawers, a traditional paginated one and a new one with continuous fling
-Different desktop transitions: new animations while navigating through your desktop screens. Try them all, they're crazy!!!
-New Icons configurations/look and feel: Tweak your desktop icons, change its sizes, add coloured backgrounds, change font size, color, etc!
-New fast presets mode: Quickly change the whole desktop configuration by 1 click!
-Editable desktop icons for applications, shortcuts and folders!
-Lots of code improvements
-More, more more to come!!
thats straight from the market hope this helps
Thanks, I did read that on the market. I guess my question was more related to actual use and experience, but I guess I will just go ahead and try the free version, and if it doesn't do enough of what I want I will buy the pro version. I just didn't want to spend a lot of time working on it just to have to do it all over again if I upgrade.
I totally agree.. ADW EX is definitely the way to go here. I haven't found anything that even compares. It's good on my Droid X but when they ported it to the tablet they added so many nice touches!

I guess I'm alone in thinking that adw is trash but oh well. Prior to using trebuchet on the ics kang I used SPB shell 3d. Its 15$ but its completely worth it, imo. Go launcher isn't tablet ready yet and probably won't be for awhile. Or you just flash the ics kang and be done with it (and save the money)
I have both AdwEx and SPB Shell on my tab. I like adw way better. SPB shell looks good but I think it compromises productivity for the look.
Just purchased ADW EX after reading through this thread, liking it so far , very quick and responsive. I'll be sticking with it for a little while.
i use go launcher just because i can make folders in app drawer. i find i gets super cluttered when you have 20+ games all the **** Samsung apps and Google apps you suddenly start to see three pages of apps. i never find what i just downloaded if i want to try some new app/game, so its nice to putt all games in one folder all productivity apps in one etc.
so far non of the other launcher have this feautere. oh and iphone like uninstall, just hold down on an app and click red x to uninstall. brilliant.

Same here, bought adw but the ability to create folders in app drawer is a plus. If adw had this feature it would be amazing. That and the option to
to use the home soft button to open app drawer.
