[Q] WiFi on, connected, full strength and not sending anything. - Fascinate Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

So I have my Fascinate running CM7 with the Glitch Kernel, no OC, just for the stock UV, the problem I have is that I can connect to WiFi, everything seems fine and then a few minutes later everything stops loading, as if there was no connection. turning off WiFi and turning it back on helps about 80% of the time but still an issue, the reason this is so big is that at my house we have no reception at all, Verizon sent us a Network Extender but it simply does not work on any phone and I know for a fact that my Network is fine. (We have twin N600s one routing one access point) Additionally the issue is at the local college as well. Any help? Is there an issue with CM7 or the Glitch kernel?

I am having the exact same problem. For example, market will stick at "Loading..." while on wifi but when I turn wifi off, my 3g connection will load market fine. It's so weird because I have full wifi signal and it is definitely not my router. It didn't start until I flashed the glitch kernel. Has to be something there. Maybe there is a workaround?

Im running glitch v13 and wifi works great. sometimes after a reboot ill have to toggle it off/on...

I had that Market problem and it disappeared when I got a new router. A full reset/wipe of router may have fixed it also. Happened on 2 CM7 phones (Droid2 and Fascinate), but not a stock 2.3 Droid2.
On my CM7 Fascinate, I usually also have to toggle wifi after reboot.

[Q] Bamf Wifi Issues?

I'm running my Thunderbolt with Bamf Stripped 1.7 currently, however this has happened to me with every Bamf rom I have loaded - Remix 1.7, Remix 1.6.3, Stripped 1.1, and Stripped 1.7. I do not have this problem when running any of the stock roms - original software, MR1, or the new MR2 leak.
My phone will connect to my wireless router just fine. I am broadcasting an SSID and using WEP security. After about 20 or so minutes with the screen off, when I go to check my phone it will still show it is connected to my wireless network, however it will not transfer any data. I get an error. When I turn off the Wifi and turn it back on, it attempts to connect but can't. I also cannot connect to my wireless network with ANY OTHER DEVICES at that time. Laptops will lose connection, other devices will no longer connect. I have to reboot my router to re-establish the wireless network, and then everything will work again. If I connect to the Wifi again with my phone, after another 15-20 minutes the same thing will happen again.
So here's my question: Does anyone have ANY insight into this? Remember, this only occurs on these roms - not with the stock phone. If I am not running these roms and connecting to the Wifi with my phone I have absolutely no issues with my router in any way.
Hope someone can help me out!
Update:I forfot to mention I was using Imo's 2.5.1 leankernel. I went back to the kernel that came with Bamf and I had no issues while on the stock kernel, but once I went back to 2.5.1 I am experiencing the Wifi problem again. Is this something anyone has heard of with Imo's leankernel?
I'm running BAMF 2.0 #6 and was having an issue with my wifi disabling when the screen was off, and data would not push through of 3G. I installed Advanced Wifi Lock (free version) and it seems to be working so far. I just installed this morning, so we'll see if it keeps it up. It's also supposed to work like Y5, which I was using before, to remember your previous wifi locations and connect when they're in range.

CM7 super slow wifi issues

Anyone else seeing this so far? The connection says it's strong with 59mb connection but downloads from the store run roughly 8kbps and don't even think about watching netflix or streaming music. I'm on an N router with WPA2 psk encryption. i'm going to tinker with the different encryption options and see if no encryption changes my results but i'm not optimistic about that. thanks for any help.
zero security = no change in speeds.
I noticed some intermittent connectivity issues -- signal strength went down to nothing, then full again. I was sitting only about 8 feet away from my 2Wire g-router.
Mine works great try reflashing if that doesn't fix it doctor your web os part then reflash I was having issues and it fixed mine
It's normal and a known issue.
Encryption doesn't matter, had problems on open wifi and wpa2-psk wifi, had problems with 5ghz wifi as well. It worked, then it didn't. Wifi settings froze the TP.
Boot into webos and everything works fine.
Mine is super fast, usually 1,5-2MB/s on Android market. I don't use any encryptions, but MAC filter
I really haven't had any wifi issues, Definitely haven't noticed a decrease in speed. The only problem I've had is swapping from one network to the next, It will cycle between connecting and searching. If I just turn off wifi and turn it back on it will connect fine.

Try changing your channel: http://androidforums.com/hp-touchpad/429699-wifi-channel-optimizing.html
Every once in awhile after the pad has been sleeping, upon wake i have to toggle Wifi off then on...then it continues working as usual.
Other than that, has been normal operating speed for me.

[Q] SGS2 wifi issues after recent update to ICS...

Hey guys,
Just updated my SGS2 to ICS (see screen shot for version details). While im still getting used to a few of the changes, i have noticed a reasonably annoying bug which is causing my wifi at home to drop out. The phone will not hold a stable connection.
I updated my phone while at work, then when i got home it did connect to my network with no hassle, but after a little while (maybe 30 mins) i noticed that i kept getting notifications that i have connected to my home network. so it seems that a connection to the home wifi network is made, then lost, then found and re-established, then lost again. I have observed the 're-connection' can be as frequent as every 30 seconds, but sometimes it will hold the signal for up to 10 minutes.
the wifi signal strength is strong, as i do sit quite close to the router.
does anyone have any similar issues to me? Anyone know of a solution?
Thanks heaps for any help.
ps: you will notice from the screen shot that i have installed Wifi Fixer from the market, this did not help stabilize my connection.
Thanks again.
hmmm
Have you tried manually setting your network values?
I was having this issue as well using my phone in DHCP mode, but when I assigned a static IP, it worked great.
On a side note, what router are you using?
Gday mate,
thanks a lot for the reply. I changed the IP setting to static, though i didnt have to assign one. does that sound right?
Anyway, it seems to have improved the stability - i havent noticed any more drop-outs. Ill keep and eye on it and let you know.
I'm pretty sure the router is a Netgear DGN-2000, but ill confirm that. We also use a WIFI booster.
Thanks again for your help mate.
Same problem I think
My phone got ICS recently. It worked no problem in my sister's flat but now in my aunt's place. Doesn't work, it will connect with the router. It will work for about a minute and that's it. No more internet but still connected. They use a booster as well and this problem of wifi connection issues is common it seems.
They only way I've found ti help the problem, forget network, clear internet cache in applications and restart the router

Problem with cm9 and wifi

Hi i went from stock ics on my ray to cm9 by followingnexact step by step guide provided by cm9. Used their kernel as well. Have never modded my phone before. Having a small problem with wifi though. After my phone has been asleep for a while, if i wake it up the wifi icon in status bar is no longer blue its a dark grey and i can no longer browse anything or use the internet. Ive tried rebooting. I did the whole wipe cache etc when installing cm9. In wifi settings in advanced ive also left the setting to "leave wifi on when sleep" checked. If i turn off and on the wifi connection the phone ofcourse is able to reconnect again the icon is blue and i can connect. It not jsut a one off thing its been happening since i isntalled the rom.
If i wakek from sleep a few minutes later i have no issue with wifi. Its only when its been sleep for a while do i have this issue.
Any solutions?
I have the exact same problem but for me it's even bigger, whenever i turn on wifi on my modem, i can connect to internet on my phone, but after awhile i lose my connection completely, on my phone and on my pc also, the only way to get it back is to reset my router and wait for like 5-10minutes...

If its also an issue with your. Pc then your issue might be also the router.
My other devices actually work fine in my case its oky this phone that has issues. Macbook iphone ipad nexus s no problems with those.
Same issue here. I can see available networks but unable to connect. There should be no problem with the wifi router as all my other devices work well and I have tried another router. Now I have to flash back to stock firmware.

Your issue seems more severe than mine. Mine actually connects and works, just that when it wakes from long sleep it wont work until i turn off and on wifi.
I get this problem too, but my problem even worse than yours. My wifi lose it's connection after a while, but the icon on status bar shows it's connected, running ping test, browse, even play store can't be accessed. I pinged the router and got unreachable.
And yeah, this problem occurs when I'm using all ICS based rom..
Anybody has any idea if this is a known problem, or if its just us few having thisissue?

I have same problem. I have SE xperia mini with CM9. WiFi worked fine until yesterday. Now phone can't connect to AP (full signal - try connect -> signal drops down), but sharing 3G internet over WiFi works fine. I cleared dalvik cache, but that didn't help.

Wifi problems with DD-WRT

Sup internet,
right now i got XWLSN official rom with newest modem XXMS2 and philz kernel on my i9100.
Also i'm using a WDR4300 v1 which runs the newest DD-WRT software (r21153 ftp://dd-wrt.com/others/eko/BrainSlayer-V24-preSP2/2013/).
My problem is that I can use the Wifi with the phone for a while, but after some time the internet access is lost without warning.
The wifi symbol is still there and it's even in the wifi and the router DHCP client list, yet it can't connect to the internet.
I only notice that it's gone once i try to refresh the weather widget or use any other app that needs internet connection. At that point the requests usually just time out.
All my other hardware doesn't have this problem (smart tv, 2x notebook).
I also had a previous firmware (XWLS8 with earlier modem without philz kernel) and a previous DD-WRT build and experienced the problem as well with that setup.
Usually it happens after a couple of hours, everytime in the morning as well of course.
Seems to me like it tries to put wifi into sleep mode, doesn't completely cut the connection, but damages it in some other way.
Did anybody else have this experience? Any ideas on how to solve this problem? Should i try to give the phone a static internal IP perhaps?
yeah. same problem, but with openWRT - for all stock 4.1 roms so far. sometimes after a few minute of deep sleep, sometimes after hours, but like yours mine is always stuck in the morning. it does not matter whether 2.4 or 5ghz is used.
as a "workaround", i completely turned off wifi as my mobile contract has unlimited data.
