I just went through to setup my GV account on the phone, and I'm running into a problem. First, it says it doesn't recognize the phone number I'm using, even though it's the same number as I was previously using with my last phone. Then it goes to send a text message to the phone to verify the new number, but it says "Your phone number could not be verified, please try again."
I'm wondering if my device isn't activated correctly. I had some issues initially, because they sent me a SIM card that was linked to the wrong phone number, and I had to spend a while on the phone with customer service, then took it in to a VZW store, where a girl played with it for 30 minutes, not seeming to know what she was doing. She claims she got the SIM card switched over to MY phone number, and the 4G data does work... but maybe it's still linked to the incorrect number, and that's causing GV to not be able to verify the phone #?
That's my guess at least. So anyone let me know if you've had the same issue, so I know if it's a problem with GV, or with this SIM deal.

Have you verified if you got the correct number? You'll have to check to make sure your SIM card is provisioned with your number. Might want to ask customer service or walk into a store for them to make sure all is well. Once you get it up and running, GV will work fine. Been using it without any problem.
No issues here. Set up went as it has on all of my android phones.

Damn, guess I'll have to bring it back in for them to look at tomorrow.
In the About Phone, it does show my number... but something's gotta still be messed up with it if GV can't recognize the number.
Just wondering but have you uninstalled and reinstalled google voice? When I set mine up it did say something about voicemail not being able to be set up on this phone.

When you're on google.com/voice, did you already setup your phone number there? Or did you just download the google voice app?

The voice mail setup isn't a problem. You can set that up on your google voice account online. Just go to the settings and it will ask you if you want to enable google voice mail to your associated number.
googvoice
Over the past several weeks I even had trouble with my motodroid and I experienced it again today when I first set up my TBolt, although this time it only took re-attempting it once. Running stock TBolt.
I only use Google Voice for voicemail, but it gave me a weird error at the end of the setup, something about not supported on my carrier and I had to check a help document. Seemed to finish anyway and is apparently working. *shrug*
Seems like there are some quirks.
Randomly this evening, my phone has decided that it no longer wants to send any MMS messages. I can send SMS messages just fine, but MMS messages do not go through. They sit for a while, and then it just says that the text message cannot be sent.
Anyone have any suggestions that don't involve factory resetting?

You have 2 options.
1)do master reset and retest it.
2) call your cell carrier.
I had a similar problem a few nights ago. All I had to do was reboot it.
That's all I need to do for a few random glitches.

Do you have data disabled? I noticed when data is disabled, mms do not go through..
Sent from my XT910 using Tapatalk
No, data was enabled. I was able to browse the internet and such, so I don't think it was a connectivity problem. But it's fixed now, so I guess it really doesn't matter.

Okay. When I said it was fixed that was actually a lie. It's started doing it again. I have no idea what caused it, but it will sometimes work and sometimes not. Any ideas anyone?

Will it be the APN settings problems?
In some country you have to set your mms APN manual
Mine does the same thing. A restart is only a temporary fix because it has done it again a day later or so. I have not found anything to fix it yet.
I am on 4g. Not on wifi. unlimited messages.

Try this on dialpad
*#*#4636#*#*
Wacth phone services
Then tap second right update buttom
It must be filled with Service Center Number, for sms/mms data. If you get 'update error', you may have a bug in system that prevents it from correctly setup of older sim cards (mostly cutted ones), if so, buy a new micro sim. It's cheap and solves a lot of small problems
Thanks, and if helps any way, share the learnin'

I tried this but every time I entered the code nothing popped up. But I think I've figured it out. It appears to only happen when I'm connected to a WiFi network. So I guess I just have to disconnect from WiFi if I want to send an MMS message.

I had the same issue, tried a number of things to fix it. Called Verizon and apparently it's a known issue that they expect to be fixed with the upcoming GB update. Other than that the only way I was able to workaround was installing Go SMS Pro, which sent MMS messages fine.
I figured out what the problem is! It stems back to the problem the Razr has with switching between 3G and 4G. In my house, I have to use WiFi because I live on the edge of a 4G service area. I get maybe one bar of 4G service, which without WiFi, pretty much refuses to do anything having to do with data. Apparently, even though WiFi is enabled, the MMS messages are NOT being transmitted over WiFi. So instead, it attempts to send them over 4G cellular data and fails because of the poor reception in my house. Switching the phone from CDMA/LTE to CDMA only before sending the messages (my signal reception jumps to 4 bars) allows it to send without failing.

So yesterday I'm on the phone and I go to send a picture to someone(MMS) and after a bit it came up with a box saying it failed and to retry now or later. I tried it a few more times and still nothing. I know my Galaxy S3 allowed me to send picture messages while in calls so is this a device limitation? Am I the only one experiencing this? Or is there a New law or something that doesn't allow picture sending while in calls for some reason?
Just wanted to get some feedback to see what other people are experiencing.

Which app were you trying to send it through? And no, there is no new law that would stop this.
Is it possible you were on wifi when you were trying? From what I understand Verizon devices will not send picture messages over wifi, they have to use the network.
Stock LG messaging app, stock dialer. Rooted device and that's about it. I noticed I actually do not need mobile data on to send and receive picture messages normally (not in a call) so I typically leave it off when I don't need it for data.
My setup when I tried was WiFi on and connected to my home network, mobile data off, and phone call present. Would not allow me to send the picture. I'll try it with data on later and see if it works.
Didn't think it was a law, Which is good. May be that the data was off. And yes Verizon phones do not send pictures through WiFi they do need mobile data for Verizon services (text,MMS).
Well weird.. Called my voicemail and sent a picture message to myself and it went through both with data on and off.
Well I must have had another issue last night where it wasn't wanting to send. Weird thing is it sent after I hit try again and was off the phone.
Only thing I could think of is that the area I was at before typically gets less coverage (although still 4g).
So I'm confused but as long as it works I'll be happy!
Any solutions please update us

I the solution was found. Apparently a fluke issue.
Yes, seems something else was the issue there. I figured it was the call because that was the main thing I was using the phone for. If I get anymore info on this I will share.

I have the HTC one m8 att latest update that came from att a couple days back. As soon as I updated for some reason I have not been able to receive text messages at all anymore.
Does anybody know how to fix this?
Thanks

haven't heard of that before. just a guess but make sure youre apn settings are correct

I'm having the same issue and the APN settings are the same from the AT&T page. Any help would be great!
I've noticed problems sending MMS. Prior to the update, I was able to send via Go SMS with the limit set to 2M. It won't send at that size anymore.
Factory reset often solves random bugs experienced after an OTA.
I've also been experiencing issues receiving mms picture messages ever since the update. Would prefer not to have to factory reset, any other possible fixes?

You can try uninstalling 3rd party apps one by one, and see if one is the culprit. But its like finding a needle in a haystack. And it might not even be the cause, it might be some migrated system setting. Upgrading the OS while keeping settings and apps is simply a messy process, with a countless number of variables and possible pitfalls.
Been waiting on AT&T to get back to me, having opened a tech ticket (On Sunday) to resolve issue. I can receive MMS messages, but I can't send one. Regular SMS not a problem. Have no issue with my Data connection. Reviewing the logcat file, I see a HTTP 502 error bad gateway showing up when the error occurs. So I am wondering if this is an issue with the HTC Phone on AT&T Network.
I have tried using different APNs, but that doesn't have any effect. I then decided to try a different ROM from Stock, and installed Venom latest. That had no effect.
So anyone else having an issue with sending MMS on AT&T with the M9?

Ruu and start over. Something has happened somewhere. I can't think of anything but a setting that would cause that. I would only backup your photos etc, i would not restore back to your current setup. Use ruu.exe or sdcard method, not fastboot method.

I'm going to wait for AT&T I think it's an error on their end. Supposed to hear by Friday.
I have had that exact problem with a different device before and it was an issue on the network side, not the device. They had to do some reprovisioning with line and that fixed it up. It is ridiculous that they are making wait so long when it is such an easy fix. Have you tried sending an MMS to yourself? Sometimes this helps with the provisioning.

Yes I have tried that, and sometimes it works but mostly doesn't. Supposed to hear back today.
AT&T never got back to me, so I had to call them. The girl I was working with seems to think it's the SIM card. That doesn't make sense to me, because if it works with the Interwebs, Facebook, Instagram, and I can recieve MMS, then I would think it's not the SIM card, whatever. Am going to test it the SIM card on my S4 to see if that makes a difference (Don't think it will.)
The people that answer the phone when you call are the first level of support. They know very little when it comes to technical support. If turns out not to be the sim card, calk back and ask them to pass you on to the next level of support.

I agree, the person I spoke with last Sunday elevated me to a next level tech who was still unable to figure it out. After trying a new sim card which still didn't work, I did a data reset from settings. It fixed the problem, and I still had root
