need help for adfree - HTC EVO 3D

hi all
have installed addfree for android
but dont help me
have adds
can someone tell me, what i have to do, for a adfree evo?
thy

Try rebooting and taking a look at your /system/etc/hosts file, you should be able to see if adfree has modified it or not. Some apps have started getting ads from their own servers so there's no easy way to block them

Just hit download and install hosts. Installing it doesn't do anything, you have to refresh the hosts.

have installed
dont helps

Maybe adaway would work better for you? Free in the market.

@jayharper08
dont works

Companies are getting smarter and thus ads are getting harder to block. The new Pandora app is swear gets its ads from Pandora servers. Oh well.

Are you getting notification adds or are you wanting to get rid of adds in the app?

I've gotten random win a ipad notifications here and have checked using the airpush detector app which results in zero apps I have using it evidently. They don't happen every day either but maybe once a week or longer they do....

I had one pop up last week. First one I've ever seen. Hadn't seen it since. I have lookout installed and do not have or never had any bootleg apps. I don't get it. Those apps need to be pulled and gone.

I have adds in apps

I've had an issue keeping ads away as well. I do think the deevelopers are getting a bit smarter about how they serve the ads.
Here is an old thread on the subject
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=664532
It hasn't been updated in quite some time but it might help.

im just absolutely lost how/what is causing the notification popup add that i get which is for "win an ipad2..."
Itll randomly happen and not with a program up and running less its in the background. Its not a txt msg one but actual notification that sends me to a website. I scaned with lookout and all is fine. Also read up on the notification adds and thought it might be the airpush crap but the airpush defender app didn't find any apps using it when i installed it so im at a complete loss now as to why this is happening.

I've never seen the ad you're talking about but I wonder if Sprint is sending it to you. I used to get a bunch of text ads from Sprint until I called them up and told them not to send me anything anymore. You might just be able to call them and have them stop it.

You can never really tell what apps to trust and what not to, I guess.
Take Dolphin for instance, love the browser, but take a look at this.

Not directly "ad" related, but you get what I'm saying.

[Q] Can't Find Where Ad Notification is Popping Up From!!

I hope I am posting in the right place.
I keep getting this notification saying that I won one thing or another. It pops up in my notification so it is not a text message. If I click on the notification, it takes me to the ad site with no way to opt out of it.
I have ad free installed, but that does not help. I have Lookout installed as well and it doesn't help either.
How can I find out where it is coming from and get rid of it?
Is there an Adaware or Spybot or Android?
I have attached a screen shot of the notification I receive.
Thanks,
SBD
I got the exact same one today. Plus I get different ones all of the time.

It's an application called air push which came with an app you recently installed either uninstall the app or install AirPush Opt Out from the market and they will stop.
Edit: You can also get AirPush detector to see which app is doing it.

I downloaded AirPush detector and found the app that was using this type of advertising. It was a Trance Radio App. Will never download that again.
Thank you,

This AirPush crap is malware, plain and simple. This needs to stop. Don't forget to rate the app 1 star before you uninstall it and report it. This is unacceptable.

If you read the app description it clearly states that it has AirPush enabled and even shows you how to opt out. Cannot report an app because the downloader didn't read the description.

Honeycomb plagued by ads in notification

I'm losing my mind trying to track down the process causing repetitive ads in my notification tray. Things for new improved market and other randomness. Has any one had this issue and what is causing it? Only started after I updated to HC. Watched running process to monitor but no suspicious activity. Running stock non root.
Sent from my PG41200 using XDA App
Never heard of that before, but any app can post notifications. My guess is you have a bad ad supported application installed. Carefully check your apps. Uninstall any suspicious apps and check your results. When you find the culprit, give it a terrible review in the market and write the developer a nasty gram.
Is there a way to ID the process utilizing the notification tray?

I don't know of anyway that you can monitor which apps are sending notifications other that using the PC development environment which would be far more trouble to set up than just uninstalling apps one by one.

I remember reading somewhere else there are several apps known for such notification spam. "Music Junk" is one of them, don't remember the rest. I also remember reading that there is an app that lets you control all the permissions (including sending notifications) of most apps. Don't remember the name of that program though.
I would suggest removing most of the extra stuff that you have loaded, and then reinstalling them one by one allowing some time in between to check if you get spammed.
Let us know if you track it down, any info will helps others.
Lol congrats on having airpush infecting your system. try doing a
Code:
pskill | grep airpush
and see if anything comes up. I doubt it, but it's worth a shot. Not sure if busybox has pskill though...hmm, we shall find out!
I hat the same problem with a mp3 download app!Uninstalled it and it was gone.Nothing to do with the HC upgrade i think.

No, you're right. This has nothing to do with Honeycomb. It's an app that the OP installed as several posters have mentioned.
Yes, as Indirect said: this is called airpush.
Try this app: https://market.android.com/details?id=com.brosmike.airpushdetector
OP, do you have screenshots? Maybe someone has the same app, and gets the same notifications that can help?
I hate random notifications too, especially the Glu games letting me know there are sales on crap I don't want.

The app that you're thinking of is called "Permissions" available in the Android market. I can't remember the app that checks just for the air stuff but I believe the logging test app (developed here at XDA) will find that. If you like it you can buy a license on the Android market to support the developer, full details in the thread just search XDA for it.

[Q] Any idea how to fix this?

My boss has a Rezound with the exact same ROM/kernel etc. that I have listed in my sig (because I set it up for him).
He has had a weird problem that he wants me to fix but I'm not sure what's causing it. Everyday lately, he has had a notification in the left side of the upper task bar that is just a + sign.
If you pull down the notifications it has a link to a porno site, but it doesn't go to his gmail and you can just clear it with no problem.
He says he has never gone to a site like that on his phone because "why bother, the screen it too small anyway" and that he has a both a 17.5" laptop and a 27" desktop monitor that are much better suited to that kind of thing.
I have worked on all his computers and all his phones and this problem ONLY happens on his phone. Does anybody know how to block whatever is doing this??
That has to be an app running in the background.
Check what apps are installed / running.

Yes I get those too, rather annoying. I hope its just the site and not some app or virus.
I just got one
This happens to me every now and again, and its happened on XDA more than once.
I took a screenshot just now when it happened.
It only pops up in the browser so I assume it is most likely an ad, but it is also aware of my location.
It goes here:
gotfreebies . org/contest/au-ipad-contest/index.php?c=AU-s2
(I'm not allowed to post links so I added spaces)
It's seriously annoying and I sincerely hope something can be done about it.
I'm using a Galaxy tab 8.9 over wifi.
XDA has gotten a lot of ads lately. I hate the flash ads that play at the bottom of the screen with sound. I tend to have a few XDA tabs open and its super annoying trying to find the one thats playing.
Banner ads and flash ads don't bother me that much but these freebie.org ads just fill the entire screen on my phone. Now that is seriously annoying
had same issue. restart solved it for me.

Getting the same ads very annyoing like a pc browser hijacker redirects browser to their site get it mainly on xda but have had it 1 or 2 times on other sites.
Would be nice to know whether this Is an XDA ad or a virus.
I also get it, only on xda. I use ICS+ Browser. Very annoying.
The flash ads with sound on my desktop are extremely annoying as well. I too open multiple windows at once, and it is a real pain trying to find the noisy window.
It is an ad. It is harmless.

Is it an official xda ad? Why do they make it behave just like malware? That's what browser hijackers do. I've never seen official ads do anything as obtrusive as that.
I am getting tired of these ads, there is another similar or maybe associated ad for a site called 'mobrewards.org' too.
I get them on other phone related sites as well, just now I got one on phonearena.
I have found the google adwords complaint page and I'm going to submit a complaint.
Maybe if we all do then they'll do something about it.

The ad seems to be a browser popup, it is not associated with any apps.
It is targeted towards mobile users and it seems to only occur when using a mobile device.
If you search online for gotfreebies.org or mobrewards.org you will see that the problem is experienced by Android and iPhone users.
these ads are the ones which remind me to enable ad blocking after flashing a new firmware. adaway and root are your friends

Leadbolt ads, how do I get rid of them

I downloaded some apps, now when I do certain things I get redirected to my browser and treo leadbolt pages choke up. I have avg premium and it hasn't stopped it, I've tried addons detector, I can't get rid of it. What can I do? I would like to find whoever thought something that annoying was a good idea and slowly eviscerate them with a dull butter knife.

Try the AirPush Detector app from the play store - it will tell you what apps to remove to get rid of Leadbolt.
You've got to remove the applications that came with Leadbolt to make that go away - after all, you agreed to accepting the ads when you installed the applications.
Be sure to leave a very negative review for whatever application came bundled with Leadbolt.
Tried it, it didn't work
